Faxing via my HP4315

I am trying to fax via my HP4315. I can scan and print with no problem. When I go into the preferences and make my way to the HP Utility, I can connect and test the fax fine from the MBP to the 4315. When I open a PDF in Pages and try to fax by changing to "fax PDF", it says there is no fax to be found.
The 4315 is an all-in-one.

This is an Officejet, right? Have you tried adding the HP printer again, this time using the HP fax driver? Sometimes for the AIOs it's necessary to add the "printer" twice.

  • Fax via email

I used to have phone service through a voip that offered virtual fax via email. Nice and easy. Now I changed to another provider (Vonage) and I discover that in order to receive faxes via email I need an application.
All applications I found charge you monthly.
I received maybe 5 faxes a month (4 of which are spam). So I do not intend paying a monthly fee. At the same time I have a nice and easy fax # and I want to keep that.
What other solutions are there, please?
Thanks a lot in advance for your courtesy in replying,

  • Fax via Bluetooth on Blackberry

I've googled and found instructions on how to fax via bluetooth according to this doc:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301077
But when I try to add the fax.ppd file, it isn't in the folder. I've tried to spotlight search for it, but it's no where on my computer. Does anyone know where to get this file. Or better yet, the proper way to fax via Bluetooth???

I have not successfully faxed via my 8100 Blackberry. I haven't really found anything conclusive on the web that you can. Here is what I did try this weekend:
    * Blackberry 8100 on T-Mobile
    * No data services enabled
    * MacBook White running 10.5.4
    Steps...
    1) Paired cell phone to Mac.
    2) Sending files worked great (once I allowed it in the Mac firewall)
    3) I configured the BT connection from BT preferences on the Mac.
    4) I went to add a fax and BT was on the list. Also the blackberry had a separate line item as well.
    5) I added both (at different times) as a fax.
    6) I faxed a document.
    7) Fax monitor program started up.
    8) I saw some BT activity indicated by the BT icon in the menu bar at the top of OSX.
    9) fax monitor put the fax "on hold".
That was as far as I got. Maybe this will help stimulate the conversation or help answer some questions. One thing I was unsure about was whether the blackberry port should be RS232 or Modem.

  • Faxing via internet

    Hi,
I am new to this board and although I have been using Macs since 1986 and can replace parts etc, the OS and Internet connections are a mystery to me.
At the moment my emails are routed from my G5 via a broadband router serving many computers where I work. At home I have a broadband internet connection with BT.
My problem is that my 15 year old fax machine has finally died and I was thinking of faxing via the internet for which I presume I would need an internal modem.
My questions are: 1. would I need a separate internet account for my G5 at work or could I use the same account that I use at home.
    2. I have an apple modem in my old blue G3, would this fit and work in my G5.
    best regards

  • Since upgrade to 10.4.5: Faxing via shared fax modem broken?

Since upgrading my Macs to Mac OS X 10.4.5 sending faxes via a shard fax doesn’t work anymore. When attempting to send a fax the error message
    "Error while printing"
pops up. However, when faxing directly from the Mac with the shared fax modem, everythings works flawlessly.
This used to work prior to upgrading to Mac OS X 10.4.5.
    Anyone here with similar experiences?
    Werner.
Mac mini   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

The kernel panic points to Airport. Either your Airport software is way out of date or your Airport card may not be properly seated or has failed. So the first thing to do is remove the Airport card. If the panics cease, then reinstall the Airport card and see what happens. If it panics again, then remove the Airport card.
The next thing I would do is:
Boot from your OS X Installer. Be sure to use the installer for the version of OS X you have installed. After the installer loads select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (or Utilities menu if using Tiger.) After DU loads select your OS X volume from the list on the left, click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes and then restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (3.0.3 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.1.1 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
The next thing I would do is download the 10.4.4 Combo Updater and reinstall the update. Then reinstall the Airport card and see if it works properly.
I would suggest that before installing the update that you first boot into safe mode.

  • Sending Fax via OS X?

I am clueless when it comes to faxing via a computer, so forgive my "stupid" question.
I want to be able to send faxes via the computer. Any recommendations on how to do this? I don't have an actual fax machine, but rather just a mac connected to the internet.
Free is good, but I am willing to pay a little.
    Any help greatly appreciated,
    Phil

The simplest way is to add a fax modem to your machine, hook that to your phone line and you're done - you can 'print' any document to the fax and away it goes. Apple's USB Modem (part no. MA034Z/A) does the job just fine.
The next step up would be a multi-function printer, if you have one. These devices combine printer, scanner and fax machine in one device and most enable faxing from the computer (similar to the above option where you 'print' to the fax machine).
Failing that there are several internet fax services such as eFax, Fax.com and MyFax (not an exhaustive list, by far). Pricing on these vary and these services tend to offer free or low-cost incoming fax options, too.
The main difference with the internet fax services is the file formats they support. Some offer support of uploading documents (e.g. Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, etc.) that they then 'print' and fax, but the big problem here is in formatting - if you used fonts they don't have installed then the results might not be as you expect. Usually you're better off printing to PDF (via the standard Print dialog) and uploading the PDF file which has a higher chance of being transmitted as you expect.

  • Faxing via SMTP using Faxination 5 as the Fax Server

    Hi,
I need to setup faxing from a ECC6 server using a Faxination 5 server.  Currently we have it setup OK using a 4.6C server but ECC6 doesn't work.....so I am looking for a work around.....this is were I hope you guys can help
I was thinking of setting up Faxing via SMTP (using MS Exchange) and the Faxination 5 server, has anyone done this? Or know if it can be done using Faxination?
Faxing is possible from Exchange using a Faxination Exchange connector and I have looked at the thread Extraneous "FAX=+" prefix when sending faxes via SMTP and it would appear that other people have set this up using different Fax software.  Does anyone know what format the fax server will be looking for?
    Many thanks
    Rob

    Hello,
Basically the RFC interface of SAPConnect has not been changed, so your FAXServer should be able to handle RFC Faxing also in ECC6 Server.
You can recheck the configuration. /* Or copy here the error message, so we can take a look at */
The output formats can be set-up in the SAP System also for SMTP Faxing.
I think the destionation format should only depend on your Fax server needs.
    Best regards,
    Dezso

  • Fax via Network Multi-Function Printer

I own a HP Multi-Function device to print, scan, fax, etc. My home network is set up to PRINT wirelessly from my computer to my printer, but for some reason I am unable to FAX wirelessly. As of now I must first print the document then fax it manually, when I'd much rather skip the middle steps of printing and just fax it directly using my network. The only way I can send a fax from my computer is bypass my wireless network and plug directly into the HP printer via USB. I think if I can print wirelessly why can't I fax wirelessly too? Any suggestions?
    MacBook Pro
    Latest version of Leopard

HP All-In-One Printer/Scanner/Fax plugged into a phone line

TC (and airport extreme) peripheral support falls into universal (ethernet) and special (usb).
Anything that can be connected to the ethernet port will be translated through the wireless system and work just well (or not well) as it would if connected via ethernet. Devices plugged into the USB port (directly or through a hub) require special support by Apple. Apple writes drivers for these and adds a tab to the airport utility software. This used to be just printers. Currently, this is limited to printers and hard drives. MFCs go beyond the simple printing function Apple is trying to support via USB.
In my case, I have a Brother 7820n MFC. Its designed to operate over ethernet. Plugged into the TC, this means printing, scanning, and faxing (right out the phone jack) wirelessly - from every computer in the house.
Does your MFC offer an ethernet upgrade?

    Hi all,
I have a problem sending faxes from my laptop through the HP LaserJet Pro 200 Color M276nw printer.
I can send faxes from the printer device itself if i place a doucment into the feeder.
The problem exists when connecting to the all-in-one device via the WIFI, printing is fine and connection is active though when trying to fax a dcoument from my desktop utilising the FAX driver it complains about the printer being offline and cannot communicate to the all-in-one device?
    any help would be appreciated.

    Hey @BSA_IT,
Welcome to the HP Support Forum.
I understand you're having an issue sending faxes from your PC through the HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw.  I would like to assist you with this.
    The following might help:
Click on Start / Devices and Printers
Double click on your printer's Fax icon
    Click See What's Printing
    Click Printer
If 'Use Printer Offline' is checked as you'll see in the screenshot below, be sure to uncheck it.
Next, try sending the fax through your laptop as before.  If you run into the same issue, try the following steps to rule out Windows settings as interfering with fax sending capabilities:
    Click on your Start menu
In the 'search programs and files' box right above Start, type msconfig and hit enter on your keyboard
When the System Configuration Window opens select 'Selective Startup' and uncheck Load Startup Items
Click the Services tab. Check the box at the bottom for Hide All Microsoft Services
    Select Disable All
    Select Apply and OK
    Restart your computer when prompted
Once the computer reboots, trying sending the fax.
To enable the programs after you've tested  the machine, just open MSCONFIG the same way and under the general tab, just click 'normal startup' Hit apply and OK and reboot one final time
Please let me know the result of your troubleshooting by responding to this post.
    Best of luck!

  • Batch email/fax via Spool recipient

I want spool output from a batch job to be mailed to external recipients or faxed.
The approach I am using is job open, submit via job, job close using a recipient object - and it is 95% of what I want. This basically corresponds to using the Spool recipient button on SM36.
It sends the spool as an attachment but.... I have no control over the actual body of the email being attached to or even the title of the email. Similarly if I create faxes I have no control over the cover page sent.
Any idea if I can use this approach AND put text into the email being sent and set the title to one of my choice?
    Thanks
    Neil Woodruff
The two response were both helpful but did not solve the problem. It seems to me that there is no programmatic way of editing the message produced by a job and sent as an email or fax. I have decided to change my approach and instead have my program convert spools to PDF files and then email or fax these. This can be done as per sample programs BCS_EXAMPLE_2 and BCS_EXAMPLE_5.

    Neil,
U r approach is fine and as per the aim.
Have a look at the following links
       1. This link says how to send the email to clients with JOB_CLOSE.

  • Faxing via a Brother multi-function printer

I am trying to send a fax from my iMac G5 via a Brother Multi-function centre (MFC 640CW) on ethernet. The Brother software booklet makes it sound like the fax driver is automatically installed when the printer driver are installed. However, when I try to add a fax to the Print/Fax System Preferences only a "Bluetooth" fax appears in the list.
I could find no advice about this on the Brother website.

Thank you - I got it working. However, the Brother dialog is confusing. The steps are:
Select PRINT SETTINGS from the LAYOUT list
Then click on the same list again!
This time SEND FAX appears in the list so select it!
    A new fax dialog appears.
    Change OUTPUT to FACSIMILE
Type a fax number in the INPUT FAX NUMBER BOX
    Click PRINT !
    Cheers

  • Fax via mail?

Does the Mail application have an option to send faxes through it? If so, how?

You can fax an email message via the Print command.
Select Print for a message and select the PDF button at the bottom left of the Printer selection window.
At the menu window that appears, select Fax PDF.
At the modem selection, select your internal modem. You can use a cover page and to the right of the To field, select the contact icon to view and select from Address Book contacts if needed.

    Hi all,
I use to send faxes from my email. All you have to do is purchase an account from a internet fax provider (i bought from popfax). All you have to do is to configurate your mail agent (such as outlook) and insert the mail of the company, the security code , attach the file and write the numbers (up to 500 of numbers)
We've used several email fax companies as well and it is a convenient way to email if you don't mind scanning everything first and for many files,if they contain personal info or confidential email, you need to password protect before you can email.  So in many way, a regular fax is more time efficient.
