Faxing with HP-8600

When I had Verizon FIOS phone service, I could fax with no problems. Now that I use TWC phone and internet, my 8600 doesn't even pick up that there is a phone line attached. I have tried a cold restart, different transmission speeds, etc. Is there an in-line filter or something I need. I am using the two wire phone cord that came with the printer.

Hello Skippy22,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
Regarding the faxing issue with the Officejet 8600, have you checked to see if there is a dial tone if you connect a phone to the line you are trying to use for the fax?
Below I have included a fax setup guide for the printer, it does cover different types of phone service and the fax troubleshooting guide, I hope it helps.

  • How to Fax with SAP R/3 4.7

    Hey guys,
i have to configure our SAP R/3 release 4.7 system, so that it is able to send a Fax. I have read about SAPconnect and the SMTP PlugIn from WebAS. I found many information about the configuration at the SAP system, but nothing about server software that is able to send a incomming SMTP mail via modem to the fax-machine of the recipient.
Can anybody propose me a software that i can use? Or can you tell me the easiest konfiguration or Systeminfrastructur to send a fax with a SAP R/3 SmartForm?
    Thanks,

    Hi Juan,
We just went live with the "RightFax Server" in Production. The problem we are encountering with the RightFax is the return notification (outlook email) does not have the Purchase Order anywhere in the email. We currently have it set up, so that both successful & failed transmission sends an email.
I was wondering how you handled this - if at all. Do you receive email notification back from RightFax?
I understand that there's a way to modify the SAPSCRIPT to include some "FAX Commands" so that this PO number could be included in the email. Have you done this? If yes, where does the fax command have to be included - in the actual program or the form routine? Can you send me an example of any fax command that you have implemented in the SAPSCRIPT?

  • HD Audio Soft Data Fax with smart CP

    Hello!
I have V6000 presario series notebook with a internal fax modem HD Audio Soft Data Fax with smart CP. With this modem I can send send faxes but cannot recieve them. Often I receive a message stating your fax machine failed to recieve fax from the sender. I did try to reinstall the soft ware and reinstalled the fax driver from the concerned site etc. By the way , I use windows XP professional software as my operating system. Any help regarding this impediment is greatly appreciated.

    Hello Rakmad,
I am afraid my driver version is 7.70.00 and driver date is 25/12/2007. Therefore the version appears to be the latest. I am dubious about the version as this was a common hassle for several with compaq presario V6000 series several with this series can send fax but cannot recieve them. I went over and over again with the configuration, microsoft fax was uninstalled and reinstalled but with no luck whatsoever. Is there any changes rather minor in the registry that can rectify this impediment? I have a hunch this is the portion to be dealt with to mend the same. Oh by the way! when I query the modem AT+FCLASS=?0.1 and AT#CLS=? COMMAND NOT SUPPORTED. Hope this information may reveal any clue to the diagnosis of this crises.

  • Can I use the pdf fax with a DSL line

Can I use the pdf fax with a DSL line and, if so, how do I get the pdf fax modem to appear in my printer options? No Modems appear in my Modem pop-up menu.
    Thanks,

Should I be able to fax using the internal fax software if I set it up with the proper settings?
Yes, if it's not a purely Digital line, dial that FAX number on your Phone, does it answer with a screech?
Must I disconnect all my other lines in order to use this?
No, you shouldn't need to... do you have DSL Filters on all lines except the DSL connection, like these...

Oh, it's not clear, do you have 2 actual Lines/Phone numbers, or do they share the same line?

  • Faxing with Leopard?

Contemplating upgrading my 2001 Quicksilver from Tiger to Leopard (even though I understand Leopard will suck up 1/3 of my 1.5GB of RAM to run). In addition to running a secure shell server and (ssh-tunneled afp) file server and a small smtp/imap mail server over my DSL connection, I send and receive faxes with that computer over that common voice/fax/DSL phone line. I have the distinctive ring feature from the phone company so I did the fairly well known modification to /usr/bin/fax (editing the line that says INIT="-iZ -i&FE0&D2S7=120 -i&C0 to read INIT="-iZ -i&FE0&D2S7=120 -i&C0-SDR=2) to differentiate between incoming voice and incoming fax calls. That way, I can have an inbound fax to the alternate number on that phone line answer immediately, and the internal fax modem ignores standard voice calls to the primary number (so it can ring for up to half a dozen or so rings until either I answer the phone or the voice mail software takes the message).
There are a number of posts in this forum that suggest that faxing is a bit of a challenge under Leopard. I am wondering if anyone, preferably with a DSL connection running on their phone line (just so I know they're more like my configuration), is successfully sending and receiving faxes under Leopard through their internal modem, and has successfully implemented the distinctive ring feature to differentiate between incoming voice and incoming fax calls, and if so, what did they have to do to make distinctive ring and receive faxes on their computer work? At least one other thread in this forum suggests that the old "append -SDR=2" trick doesn't work in Leopard.
    Thanx in advance.

Actually it was just my comeback to the Madison Avenue tout of "300+ Improvements in Leopard!", which seems to mean changes, which means at the very least, things won't work as they did yesterday.

  • Busy signal when faxing with hp officejet 6600 all-in-one

I keep getting a busy signal when faxing with all numbers.

    Hi @pbr69,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that you are getting a busy signal when faxing with the HP Officejet 6600, and I am happy to help!
I would recommend to look through this faxing guide, to make sure it is properly configured. Cannot Send or Receive Faxes.
Also depending on the type of phone connection you are using you may require a different type of configuration. Please also see, How to connect your HP Fax Device to an ISDN, ADSL, PBX, or VoIP line, if you are using one of those types of lines.
Hope this information helps, and have a wonderful day!

  • Faxing with OfficeJet Pro 8610

Sent my first faxes with this new machine. Had the fax number wrong and could not stop it from redialing. Had to reboot my PC. I looked for a process I could kill and did not see one listed that I recognized as a fax redialer. I checked all the utitlies listed (Fax Setip Wizard & Manage Fax Sttings) and did not see any settings or means to control Fax redial. Also checked under devices and say no controls for dialing/redialing as a Fax. What's up with this?

Hi , Thanks for getting back to me. The other way to change the fax settings on printer wouild be through the printer's Embedded Web Server. Is your printer on the network? If the printer is networked, Print a Network Configuration Page to get the IPv6 address. It will look something like 192.168.1.000.
Enter the IP address into the address bar of your browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox).  When you enter the IP address into the browser, it should bring up the Embedded Web Server for your printer.  Here, you can change most settings on your printer.  For Basic Fax Settings: Click on Fax along the top.
Click on Basic Fax Settings, on the left side bar.  For Advanced Fax Settings: Click on Fax along the top.
Click on Advanced Fax Settings, on the left side bar.   I checked the HP Printer Assistant and it does not have the options that you're looking for. I hope this helps!

  • Problem on sending fax with Apple USB modem

    Hello everyone,
I use my macmini to manage faxes to help my father's business, as fax is one of the most important mean of communication to our clients. While I can only receive fax from outside to my mac, but I cannot send fax from my mac through "Send PDF" option, it just stop working, and "Waiting for modem to become available" without using my telephone-line. It is weird when I plug it into my macbook that it works.
Look forward to your advice. Thank you,

I am having problems sending and receiving faxes, too, and have been working with AppleCare level 2. They are off for a couple of days, and the solution is nowhere in sight. They did capture information from my system as I tried to fax, and sent it to engineering. They have determined that I am not getting a dial tone.
When I connect my phone to the jack, I do get a dial tone and can talk on the phone (which I do frequently). I have been provided with two additional new Apple USB modems to try to see if that would fix the problem. It did not make any difference which of the three modems I use, I cannot send or receive faxes. Yesterday, I booted up my old iMac (OS X 10.4.11 with a collapsing hard drive, but an internal modem). I attached this computer to the same phone jack and was able to freely send faxes - every single try.
I downloaded and set up the application PageSender just to see if it was the fax software (I have been trying to just use what came with my MacBook Pro). Using the Apple USB external modem (as I have had to do with this computer and operating system), I could not send any faxes - could not get a dial tone, according to PageSender.
I, therefore, believe that the problem is with the external modem and/or the extensions that operate the external modem.
I did try what you have suggested above - the substitution of the IOSerialFamily.kext:
I partitioned my harddrive into two partitions HD and HD_2. I loaded OS X 10.5.5 (from my CD) onto the second partition. I then copied the IOSerialFamily.kext on my thumb drive (from OS X 10.5.5 the version was 92). Then I upgraded to 10.5.6, and copied the ioSerialFamily.kext on my thumb drive - this time with 10.5.6 the version was 93. I went back to my first partition where I have 10.5.7 (version 94) and tried to transfer version 93 IOSerialFamily.kext to the extensions. As soon as I tried to mount the Apple USB modem I received the following message:
    "System extension cannot be used
The system extension”/system/Library/Estensions/IOSerialFamily.kext/contents/PlugIns/Motor olaSM56KUSB.kext was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it or contact the product’s vendor for an update."
At that point I tried to exchange the version 93 with the one that I removed - version 94, but I continued to get the same message. I decided to reinstall 10.5.7 again hoping that this would solve the message problem. No such luck! I did now have version 94, but the same error message. At this point, I tried a permissions repair. This solved the error problem... but I was still not able to send or receive faxes, because the fax programs could detect not dial tone.
Because I have never sent or received faxes with this computer - only my iBook (10.4.11), I decided to go back to the second partition on my computer and see if I could send a fax from the macBook Pro with 10.5.6. The results are sporadic. I had to try several times, and occasionally I would get a dial tone and could send the fax, but more often, I could not. There was no difference in any of the 2 modems I tried (by now I had returned 1 to the Apple Store), or whether I used the front USB port or the rear USB port. The sending of a fax with MacBook Pro and 10.5.6 was not consistent or reliable and I could only occasionally get a dial tone... with 10.5.7 I can never get a dial tone.
According to my AppleCare representative the engineers are "on this". But I see that the original post was in November, which was prior to 10.5.7; I purchased my MacBook Pro with 10.5.5 in December, so imagine that this problem has been around through several upgrades of 10.5.
This is unbelievably frustrating! Has anyone been able to easily send and receive faxes with 10.5.5?
Chris (hopefully you are still around), did you get any error messages when you exchanged your 10.5.6 IOSerialFamily.kext for the 10.5.7 IOSerialFamily.kext - especially when you mounted- or tried to attach the external modem? If so, how did you handle that?
Sorry that this has been such a long post. I have tried to provide as much information as I could in the hopes of finding a solution. Any ideas???
    THANKS!

  • Faxing with Internal Modem - Mac Mini and DSL

I have a first generation Mac Mini with an internal modem, and am trying for the first time to send a fax. I believe I've configured the faxing feature correctly through the print/fax preferences. I have DSL connected through ethernet. When I send the fax, it shows in the menu that it is dialing (but no sound), and then on the status window, it says it's on hold. It then redials in another 6 minutes or so and then same thing happens again--on hold. Eventually after several tries it disappears from the status window, and there's no indication that the task was completed.
What I'm wondering is, is it actually possible to fax using DSL? I called my ISP (Earthlink) who said I needed an external fax machine, that I couldn't fax with in internal modem. This led me to believe he had no idea what I was talking about. He referred me to Apple. I called but they are closed.
I'm trying to fax to a governmental office, so perhaps they are closed to, and that's why it isn't going through?
Or do I need to be doing something differently.
    Help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Esther

Hi Esther Le Sieur: Unfortunately you can't fax through DSL. If you do have an internal modem you can certainly use that. You will need to use a regular phone line from the modem to a regular dial-tone jack. Depending on how your DSL is installed, you may have access to a regular dial-tone jack at or near where your DSL is connected.
    Good Luck
