I was wondering how you increase you attachment limit in Mail. I have a .Mac account and I thought it had something to do with that but now I am confused. I hate having to send more than one e-mail to friends to send them multiple attachments. I guess I could just send a link to my public folder with iDisk. Can anyone access my public folder given the password whether they are on a PC or Mac. Not many of my friends have a Mac.

This is determined by the email account provider for the account - your ISP if the email account is provided by your ISP or in this case, .Mac.
A .Mac account has a 10 MB overall message size limit for received and sent messages which is a common limit now but some providers still have a smaller limit.
If your email account provider has a larger overall message size limit for sending messages but the recipient has a smaller limit, the message will be rejected by the recipient's incoming mail server so you must take the recipient's incoming mail server overall message size limit into consideration.
Message attachments must be encoded before being sent and decoded when recieved. The Mail.app uses MIME 1.0 for attachment encoding/decoding which is the internet standard. The problem with MIME is it isn't very efficient. The encoding process increases the size of the pre-encoded file by roughly 50% or so. An 8 MB file pre-encoded will be roughly 12 MB in size after the encoding process placing the overall size of the message over the 10 MB limit not taking any message text into account.
With Hotmail you can just order more space to e-mail files.
Can you not do this with Mac Mail?
    On a per message basis?
Not with any email client such as the Mail.app which wouldn't make any difference anyway since the overall message size limit for received and sent messages is determined by the email account provider for the sender and recipient.
Can anyone access my public folder given the password whether
they are on a PC or Mac. Not many of my friends have a Mac.
    Yes.
If you're a .Mac member, you can allow other users to add or remove files from your iDisk Public folder by assigning read-write access to your folder. Assigning read-write access to your Public folder doesn't affect the other folders on your iDisk.
IMPORTANT: If you assign read-write access to your Public folder, it's a good idea to password-protect it.
To assign read-write access to your Public folder:
Open System Preferences and click .Mac.
Click iDisk, and then click the Read & Write button.
Your available iDisk storage is affected each time someone adds or removes a file from your Public folder.
    For Mac users:
You can open another .Mac member's Public folder to see and copy files. If the member has set access privileges to read-write, you can also add and remove files.
To access another person's Public folder, you need to know their member name and their Public folder password (if they use one to protect the folder).
    To open someone's Public folder:
Choose Go > iDisk > Other User's Public Folder.
Type the member name of the person whose Public folder you want to open in the Member Name field.
    Click Connect.
If a password is required, type it in the Password field and click OK.
The person's Public folder opens on your desktop.
    For Windows Users:
If you're using your iDisk to share files with Windows users, they need the following information to see and copy files in your Public folder.
Windows users can open your iDisk using Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 2000, or Windows 98.
To access your Public folder, the Windows user needs to know your member name and Public folder password (if your Public folder is password-protected).
To open someone's Public folder using Windows:
If you're using Windows XP, use iDisk Utility for Windows to open someone's Public folder. To download iDisk Utility for Windows, go to www.mac.com, and click "iDisk Utility for Windows XP."
If you're using Windows 2000, open My Computer, choose Map Network Drive from the Tools menu, then click "Web folder or FTP site." Enter the following as the location to add: http://idisk.mac.com/membername-Public? (where "membername" is the other person's .Mac member name).
If you're using Windows 98, open My Computer, double-click the Web Folders icon, then double-click Add Web Folder. Enter the following as the location to add: http://idisk.mac.com/membername-Public? (where "membername" is the other person's .Mac member name).
You can also use HomePage to create a file sharing page.

  • TS4002 is there any way to increase email attachment limit

In there anyway to increase email attachment limit for icloud?  Right now I can't send anything over 20M  Thank you.

No. Use a service like dropbox and send the link of your file to your recipient.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2629?viewlocale=en_US
Important:   An iCloud Mail message can’t exceed 20 megabytes (MB), including attachments. If you use an email program (instead of a browser), a message smaller than 20 MB might still be undeliverable. Your Internet service provider (ISP) may also have message size limitations. If a message is returned to you because it exceeds the maximum size, send the contents of your message in multiple email messages, or use compression software, such as the Compress feature in OS X, to make your attachments as small as possible.

In transaction FB03, when users display the attachment list, I got a requirement to add some checks when they select a document and press 'VIEW' button.

I'm running Exchange 2010 (with Rollup3 installed), on Server 2008R2.
My clients are running Entourage 2008 EWS, patched up with the latest Office Mac updates.
Apart from their inability to send 10+MB attachments, everything else is fine.

Toutges solution worked for us.  Exchange Server 2010 (current patch level as of March 2015), Mac OS Outlook 2011 via EWS.
Key to the solution is this revision:
    maxReceivedMessageSize value
    to [example value]
51200000 underneath the heading <EWSMessageEncoderSoap11Element />. There are 6 places to make this change (bytes)
I have not seen this noted under the several MS Tech Net articles that pertain to the problem of sending large email attachments via Mac Outlook 2011 via EWS.

  • Exchange 2010 - Accepting Messages Above the Attachment Size Limit

Recently we implemented a new Exchange 2010 server in a site. This site is in another country with very poor WAN connectivity.  Our standard attachment limit is 50MB (51200 kb) .
Since we have put this server in place I am seeing messages get stuck in the queue that are above the 50MB limit.
What I am confused about is how are they making it there, why is Exchange accepting them?  I have checked all the connectors, they are all appear to be set correctly.
What I also notice is these messages sit in the queue and get error:
421 4.4.2 Connection dropped due to ConnectionReset
    Any ideas?

Consider applying an enterprise limit by using Set-TransportConfig -MaxSendSize -MaxReceiveSize.

  • CEM message size limit

We are still running Cisco E-Mail Manager 5.0.  Does anyone know if CEM has a limit on message/attachment size.  There are messages (all with attachment larger that 1mb) in the Exchange mailbox for CEM that are not getting delivered to the CEM server.  I sent a test message with attachment less than 1mb and it went through just fine.  Anything larger just sits in the Exchange inbox.
If there's a limit, how can it be changed?

Wow, it's been ages since I worked on CEM.
There certainly is an attachment limit - that was one of the things they wanted to get away from with EIM. For some strange reason, the figure 2MB sticks in my mind as the upper limit.
You seem to be finding otherwise, though. I'll have a look at some old docs.

  • ICloud calendar attachment size increase

    Hi,
iCalendar has an attachment limit of 300mb but i need to increase this limit, are there any ways to increase this limit? It is impossible to go back and delete all these attachments as they have to be manually and it would be better just to increase this limit somehow
Please could you suggest a way of increasing the limit?
    Thank you in advance

  • How do i share a slide show with friends through email?

Please help me to share a slide show with friends. Don't know how to do this. I was able to make the slide show, but now want to send through email and don't know how to do this. I've export the file, but can't seem to get it onto email.

Most likely you don't share via email.
Many email services have an attachment limit of 20mb and some a limit of 10mb. As emails are sent through an array of relays, the effective limit is the smallest file size allowed on any of the relays.  That means that video is rarely suitable for emailing as the files are too large.
Then there's the whole issue of Codecs and not all machines will have the codecs to play all videos.
Finally, sharing video from iPhoto via email is not supported. You need to export the slideshow to the desktop - and that will make a video of it.
Assuming it's not too big, which would be rare, attach that to the email from the desktop.
Other than that your options include:
Upload it to a sharing site like YouTube or Vimeo and email a link - these will allow the recipient to view the material online. That will avoid the codec issues mentions, and the person can still download the video file if they wish.
Upload it to sharing services like Dropbox or YouSendIt and email a link. This will require that they downoad the material to their machines to view.

  • How can I send a slide show (with music) to different people?

I made a slide show on my MAC desktop for my son's memorial service.  I would like to share it with people who were not able to be there.  Can I share over email
or is there another way?  Please help, if you can...it really means a lot to me!

    Sorry for your loss.
Sharing video via email is not advisable.
Many email services have an attachment limit of 20mb and some a limit of 10mb. As emails are sent through an array of relays, the effective limit is the smallest file size allowed on any of the relays.  That means that video is rarely suitable for emailing. Then there's the whole issue of Codecs and not all machines will have the codecs to play all videos. Plus, folks with slower connections can find it very inconvenient to download large video files.
Finally, sharing video from iPhoto via email is not supported. All that gets you is the Movie thumbnail. If you feel you must share via email then you'll need to export the video first, and attach that. Use the File -> Export command and set the kind  to Original.
    This User Tip
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
has details of the options in the Export dialogue.
This will require that they download the material to their machines to view.
