  • Regular crashes on Intel Macs

I am seeing somewhat regular crashes on my Intel Mac, using
either Safari or Firefox, that seem to be due to
    Flash_EnforceLocalSecurity.
The tracebacks of the crash are always similar; anyone
    else?

Yes. Flash crashes frequently on my Intel Mac (Flash CS3, OS
10.5.2, all updates current). The crash is fatal. I get the
spinning beachball of death in Flash and _cannot_ force quit out of
the app. The only solution is to force my system to shut down.
I have seen no clear pattern to this problem -- except the
frequency (which is very high). Most recently it happened while
moving a text block on the stage.

  • Colorsync Utility crashes on Intel Macs using ICC v4 profiles

There is an apparently known bug whereby opening ICC v4 profiles on an Intel Mac in Colorsync Utility, and picking on a device-to-lab tag (A2Bx), the application crashes. This did not happen on my Powerbook, so apparently it's only on Intel Macs. It also doesn't crash when doing this with ICC v2 profiles on my Intel. So, the combination of Intel and ICC v4 is the problem.
Has anyone encountered this? Any help would be appreciated, since this bug is also disabling a color management application that I need to use.

    Hi Jester,
    Two things,
The Quicktime setting is going to need to be 1.5Mb as iChat dislike LAN/Intranet
iGlasses is not going to work with iChat unless you ask iChat to run with Rosetta.
Go to the File Menu and use the Open With Rosetta option.
This is because you may not have the iGlasses as a Unviversal coded Add-on. See the third bullet point.
Update it if required. Delete it for Trouble shooting (Crashed Thread 11)

  • DW crashes on intel mac

I just installed Dreamweaver 6 and updataed it on my new
macbook. It installed fine and runs fine, However when I try to
connect to my hosting company it crashes. Very strange. I set it up
just like I did on my previous powerbook that I have been using for
several years. Any suggestions what I may have done wrong to make
it crash like this? I tested the connection when I defined the site
and DW said it connected successfully, but when I try to connect by
using the little connect icon it crashes..

Time to upgrade. Dreamweaver 6 isn't even officially
    supported by Adobe
anymore. Truthfully, the improvements of the latest version
    of Dreamweaver
over version 6 is mind boggling. The CSS enhancements alone
    will save you
countless hours. Well worth the upgrade.
I know a number of developers that are using Dreamweaver 8 on
    the new Macs
with no trouble, and even running in emulation the
    performance is good. So
an upgrade could be your solution.
Unfortunately, Dreamweaver 8 isn't available in "Universal"
    code for the new
Macs yet. Adobe has said that they will be releasing the new
    version "early
or Second Quarter" next year. We know it's coming but Adobe
    is pretty tight
lipped about the actual release date. The have already
    released a public
beta of Photoshop CS3 on www.labs.adobe.com so it can't be
    too far off. So
if nothing else, be sure to upgrade when Dreamweaver 9 or CS3
    - whatever
they call it - is released.
    Hope this helps.

  • Print Crash on Intel Macs but not on PPC Macs

I have two MacBooks exhibiting the same problem. When I try to print from nearly any application over the network, the application quits when I try to print. I restart the application and it usually prints. The printer I try to print to is an HP Deskjet 6540 that is shared from a G5. The G5 has no problems printing to the same printer; it never crashes. The log has been unhelpful -at least to me. I have already reset the printing system and manually installed the printers from scratch a couple of times to no avail. Any ideas would be apreciated!

    Hi there,
You may have a compatibility problem with PowerPC and Universal applications and drivers.
Your MacBooks are Intel-based. Most of the supplied applications are written in Universal Binary, meaning that they will work on Intel and PowerPC Mac's. But there are still a lot of applications and drivers that are written just for the PowerPC chip and to work on the Intel they have to use an emulator called Rosetta.
If the driver that is installed for the HP is PPC, then sometimes that can cause spooler errors, especially ones written in Universal. The workaround is to get a Universal version of the driver or to make the application run using Rosetta.
Now, given that the HP is shared by the G5, this may be causing the problem also. The HP driver on the G5 will be PPC and if you have added the printer on the MacBooks by just connecting to the share, then you may have PPC drivers installed instead of Universal but more of a problem is that you will have version differences. I have seen this cause the most amount of problems for shared printers.
Check HP's web site for the latest version of driver for the printer. If they have a Universal version, then download this and install it on all Mac's so that you are using the same version on all three. (You may find this driver is already installed on your MacBook's so if you can get the same version for your G5 that would help heaps).
    Regards,
    Paul

  • Crashing on intel mac

When presenting, Connect intermittantly crashes on me and I
have to restart Connect to rejoin the meeting. I found this:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb400840
... but I wonder if anyone has a work-around or if anyone
from Adobe knows the status of that bug or whether it will be fixed
    soon.
Oddly, though a knowledge base article exists, this problem
is not listed on the "known issues" section of the Ver6-SP3 page:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/breeze/6/releasenotes.html
Hopefully that doesn't mean someone thinks it's
    fixed...

I agree this has been a horrible issue. I am currently
sitting on hold after receiving a call that a new build was
released today to address the Leopard incompatibility and
surprisingly no one can find this mysterious new build.

  • Intel macs consistently crash in AFP open/save dialog

    Hi.
We are experiencing a problem whereas we cannot open or save any documents on our intel macs from the 10.4.8 xserve. The intel macs will crash the application trying to open or save, even while just browsing the directory structure on the server from within the open or save dialog boxes. The shares are mounted with AFP. When mounting with SMB, things are better in that open and save will work, but printing now crashes the intel macs.
If we copy the files on to the intel mac and open them locally, everything is fine. However, such is the collaboration on projects in my company that we must have work with the files on the server, lest everything become a mess. I have found that it is while browsing folders on the server that contain old files with resource-forks that this happens. We cannot remove these files, as they are often the basis for our work. (for instance, we convert old quark files to indesign).
The trouble is: This is consistent behaviour for all our new intel macs. The trouble apps are MS Office 2004 and Adobe CS2, though there could be others, I have not tested. Also, the problem can be reproduced on other xserves with folders with resource forks in them and intel macs and AFP-file sharing.
I cannot possibly be the only one experiencing this? Has anyone else been through this and found a solution?
The server is an xServe g4 with 10.4.8

I have not had any crashes locally when browsing a fileshare on an Intel Xserve running 10.4.8 , however the Standard Operating Procedure there is not to work directly off the server (no network home dirs either).
Quark doesn't support it (not unless you use QPS), nor does Adobe (only if you use VersionCue or one other of their products), they don't.
I saw someone crash the AFP server process (when the server was a different machine, running an earlier version of 10.4 server) when ignoring the SOP and trying to save directly to the fileshare using Office v. X. A reinstall of the application applying all updates fixed that, but so did following the SOP.
Issues with Office apps & trying to work directly off a fileshare have long plagued many people.
I am not surprised at all that trying to open or save directly off a fileshare, using Office which will be running under Rosetta, could cause even more problems.
Please understand that you will be pursuing workarounds at best.
Out of many hints others have given for this issue, one was: make sure the group listed for the .TemporaryItems has r+w permission(s).
Make sure your user is in that group.
    chmod 1770 .TemporaryItems
Also check your Word prefs and be sure that autosave is saving to a local directory on your own machine.

  • Intel Mac Flash Player

I've been using the the Flash 9 Beta for the Intel Mac on my
iMac core duo and the sound has been fine for the last month of so
but just these last two weeks the none of the sound works at all.
All of the other features seem to work fine but there is no sound
whatsoever. I tried checking the plug-in settings but they haven't
been changed. i was just wondering if anyone else was having htis
    problem?

    Flash Player 10.3.183.90
    Mac OS X 10.5
    •Flash Player 10.3.183.90 (Mac only) (24.4 MB)
This may be the correct one, since it does not say Mac OS X 10.4+ PPC
While I have an Intel-Mac running OS X 10.5.8, and last version supported
Flash from Adobe archive, I don't recollect which one. I did save the .zip.
Also have three PPC Macs running OS X 10.5.8 with a patched adobe flash
using the 11.x method of extracting part of a newer Flash (still vintage) to
trick sites into seeing it as a later than Flash 10.1.

  • Random crashes on the Mac Intel

I seem to be suffering quite a few random crashes on my newish Quad 3gz Intel Mac: certainly many more than on my Quad G5. There seems to be no pattern to it all, and it's both baffling and irritating. Anyone any ideas, please? Thanks.

Have you run maintenance routines yet? These are regularly scheduled for
    around 2am
it's 3AM.. (i know cos I've been up then and heard the disk drive start doing its business..)
to the OP: when you say random crashes, do you mean truly random.. happening at different times when doing all sorts of different things? or are there specific things you do that always or almost always guarantee a crash?
I had some trouble with instant crashes on trying to hit bounce, or open the audio hardware prefs pane. but it was isolated to one logic song only, of course it was a bit project with a deadline, but that sure isn't surprising.
anyway, if you narrow it down to what you do that always gives you crashes people can give more pointed advice.
in my case, I think the song in question I was working on got corrupted, or possibly it was due to the combination of plug ins I had open for that song, including a demo version of DUY tape. every other song I've worked on since has not had the problem. but I can imagine that if my autoload song itself became corrupted, then every song I start from that basis would inherit the same problem. perhaps you could try trashing your autoload and creating a new one.

  • FCP, Intel mac pro crashing

SO here is the set up
Dual 2.66 Intel mac pro, 4gb ram, system drive is 500gb, AV drive is over fibre channel.
    OS is 10.4.8 FCP 5.1.2
all is fresh install on new system, working good for the first week.
The issues are when I go to render out I get maybe to 75% then the system crashes, get the screen that tells me I have to hold down the power button etc.
The project file contains 1 stream of DV footage and 1 Livetype movie, seems to not like the live type, but crashes with or without it, just faster with.
On a side note a second issue has been trying to burn to dvd, it will crash the same way, after completeing 25-50%, making coasters.
this isuue is present in both machines we have which are identical.
I also have one of them with the loud fans, straight out of the box, reminded me of my old g4 dual 1.25 mdd.. Firmware is up to date on it. Both machines are new within the last 2 weeks.
    here is the crash report.

Common on both machines, both macchines have the ATTO Celerity PCI Express card for the fibre channel. So I went to ATTO's site looking for new drivers and found this
"ATTO's UL5D and Celerity PCI Express adapters will work in the MAC Pro, however; there is a temporary issue with the systems containing 2.5 GB or more RAM. Please limit the RAM to less than 2.5 GB until this can be resolved. Also, ATTO Configuration Tool version 3.6 will not function properly. Please watch our web site for solutions to both of these issues after 10/21/06."
So tomorrow I will bring both machines and hook back up to the terrablock and try it out with 2 gb ram rather than 4gb.
By looking at this panick log, am I right to assume because I see the ATTO in the log it could be the issue? Looking in google for anyone talking about this I found 1 where they said the temp issue as ATTO put it is a freeze/bomb issue. I will hopefully be able to check it out tomorrow, if I get out of training soon enough.
Any more input is always welcome.
    Thanks

  • Flash + Intel Mac + Leopard = CRASH!

I've got an intel mac pro with 4 GB ram running the latest
Mac OS 10.5.2. Its perfect and runs like a dream until I use CS3
    then it all falls apart.
The worst app seems to be Flash. On average it crashes the
mac about every half hour. It's like using OS8 all over again.
What's going on? Every time I switch on the mac the Adobe Updater
starts bouncing around in my doc and thats another 20 minutes gone
downloading updates that don't seem to fix anything. There are some
serious errors with CS3 on intel mac. Are Adobe aware of this? and
are they doing anything about it?

Turn off the Adobe updater and download the stand-alone
updaters. Then leave the auto update off. A good idea for just
    about everything.
My copy of CS3 runs fine.

  • TC Powerfire on Intel Mac

Is anyone using the TC PowerCore Fire Pluggins with Logic on an Intel Mac?
I am getting major system crashes in Logic when trying to start up with these plugins. I have downloaded version 2.5 of the pluggins.

I have the same problem with the Powercore...software still in Beta...until they come out with a full version..I dont use it

  • Waveburner and Intel Macs

Does the crossgrade to Logic Pro 7.2 also include a version of Waveburner that runs properly on Intel Macs?
Sorry if this is answered elsewhere but I did look around and couldn't find anything.

    SS, hi.
Bronze Welder by minnetonka software will do DVD-A.
very basic. nothing like the features you'd see on any DVD movie.
they make more advanced types - windows only - that will let you add graphics, movies, etc, but are priced in the $us1000's.
i don't think the major record labels want us folks to have this type of software cheap as they don't even use DVD-A yet.
doing albums with this quality would certainly stop a lot of the over- compressed, over-mastered stuff out there now on cd. people would have a better musical experience for sure.
re: WB. i'm still on a PPC and it does crash sometimes. try putting all the songs for a given cd into one folder on a separate HDD. i find my crashes occur when the files are all over the place.

  • Installation problems on Intel Mac. claims PPC

I'm trying to install the current Flash Player 10.2 on my Macbook 6,1 (Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.26GHz) with 4GB RAM, running OSX 10.6.6
    Browser is Firefox 3.6.13 {Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 Firefox/3.6.13}
I got the installer from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
The installer puts up a message: "Devices with PowerPC processors are no longer supported"
How can I convince the installer that this isn't a PPC machine ?  Why might the installer think so ?

Hi, What browser are you using to try to Uninstall/Install FP vs 10.2? And when you Install 10.1, what browser are you using?
There is no Flash Player support for a 64bit browser. I have been very busy on the Forum and have not had time to check on the 10.3 beta. Not sure what it refers to. Have you? Just asking as I've seen it mentioned on another thread, but it's from those complaining about 10.2 not working. Why anyone would want a beta Installed unless they are involved in the testing and are Developers I don't know.
Any beta is a work in progress, so as long as a user is aware of that it's ok with me. Microsoft has their IE9 in beta too, but with an beta one can expect problems.
Since the 10.2 is not Installing, then I don't think you'd receive any code, do you?
I'm not as familiar with the Mac, but is it possible to upgrade the OS from a PPC to the edition you have now?
I'm going to check a couple of things while you let me know on the above browser info. Also any comments would be welcome:-)
    Thanks,
