  • CF 9 install hangs on "installing merge module"

    Fought with this issue for a day. Running Win7 Pro, Avira Anti-Virus, Comodo Firewall and Threatfire.
    Here is what I did to get it to work:
    1) Disable firewall and antivirus - did not kill processes, just turned off in each control panel.
    2) Use IE to download the installer BUT do not save, select RUN and install.
    3) Installed fine - did same for the 9.0.1 update(remember to stop CF and IIS services before updating)
    Could have been the anti-virus and/or firewall - or a corrupt installer was downloaded(tho I did this about 5 times). I also tried downloading installer and running as administrator - didn't work. Only selecting RUN instead of SAVE worked.
    Remember to reboot afterward.

    Hi Jack,
    Perhaps there will be some detail to help resolve in the install log. Read install log check for Error / Warnings. There is usually a shortcut on desktop to:

  • Crystal Reports 2008 Merge Modules SP1 Fails when installing Wise 7.0

    Hello all,
    We are packaging our software solution .NET 2.0 Visual Studio 2008, with Wise Studio 7.0 using Crystal Reports 2008 Merge Modules (SP1). (We use CR2008 for reporting)
    There is a point (fix service) in the installation when an error message appears saying, " cannot register Businessobjects.enterprise.sdk cannot be register because of dependencies.
    We have tried installing in a XP, a Windows 2003 Server, and Vista. The three of them with the same error.
    Any ideas???

  • Crystal Report XI R2 merge modules install Enterprise components... Why?

    I am in charge of creating the runtime component insallation (we are using the RDC) and have used the merge modules for Crystal Reports XI R2 to create a msi package for installation. I used the Microsoft Visual Studio Installer for the creation of the msi. The installer seems to be adding some Business Objects Enterprise 11.5 components which is causing some of our users Enterprise 10 to stop working... It also seems that if they unregister the EnterpriseFramework.dll and register the same file associated with Enterprise 10, they are able to run with some minor issues (like colors not there, etc.).
    The question I have; Is there a particular reason these Business Objects Enterprise 11.5 components NEED to be installed? If not, is there a way to keep them from being included in my installation package?
    Any help is appreciated, I have been searching for similar issues on this for a couple days now and have found absolutely nothing of any help.

    Maybe we need to back up a little bit. When you say:
    Enterprise 10 to stop working...
    What does that mean? What actually happens? Errors, behavior, etc?
    Next:
    At this point what would my options be for this issue (remove files from merge module)?
    - I am not sure that removing the EnterpriseFramework.dll would be the way to go. Presumably the dll is htere because it is needed by the RDC(?). BTW., this is the only DLL with Enterprise in it that I see in the msm files.
    Would this be a bug related to the merge modules, or are these files supposed to be included?
    - Not sure, but the dll is installed into this directory: c:\program files\business objects\businessobjects enterprise 11.5\win32_x86. And it is a COM dll, so CE 10 should not even know that this dll is there. One good way to check is to use regsvr32 /u and unregister the EnterpriseFramework.dll. See if the CE 10 install starts to work now. You may want to re-register the EnterpriseFramework.dll of version 10.

  • Crystal Reports XI - Where to find the Merge Module and the Install Shield?

    Hi,
    I'm using CR XI with Delphi 2006 and I'm having problems with the client side instalation of the program.They say I have to install the Merge Modules through an Install Shield programs.
    Where to find this and how to use?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Install shield is a part of MS Windows not with the BusinessObjects so I was not able to find any BO document on it.
    I have searched over the internet and found some useful links about Install Shield for Windows:
    http://gormanonline.com/blogs/msidle/archive/2008/05/02/basic-introduction-to-installshield-and-windows-installer.aspx
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/InstallShield
    Microsoft Windows includes registry-activated logging services to help diagnose Windows Installer issues. This article describes how to enable this logging service.
    Open the registry with Regedt32.exe and create the following path and keys:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
    Reg_SZ: Logging
    Value: voicewarmup
    You can use this example:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftwindowsInstaller]
    u201CLoggingu201D=u201Dvoicewarmupu201D
    The letters in the value field can be in any order. Each letter turns on a different logging mode. Each letteru2019s actual function is as follows for MSI version 1.1:
    v Verbose output
    o Out-of-disk-space messages
    i Status messages
    c Initial UI parameters
    e All error messages
    w Non-fatal warnings
    a Start up of actionsr Action-specific records
    m Out-of-memory or fatal exit information
    u User requests
    p Terminal properties
    + Append to existing file
    ! Flush each line to the log
    u201Cu201D - Wildcard, log all information except for the v option. To include the v option, specify u201C/lvu201C.
    Once activated, the log files that are generated may be found in your %TEMP% directory.
    Hope this will give you a clarification about Installation Shield for Windows.

  • Installed location for CrystalReports10_NET_EmbeddedReporting.msm merge module?

    I'm installing the CrystalReports10_NET_EmbeddedReporting.msm merge module. In a typical installation, this puts a bunch of files in:
    c:\Program Files\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\2.5\
    However, in different environments, such as some Terminal Server setups, the files may get installed to a different location.<!break> How can I tell, programmatically, where these files will be or have been installed? The merge module 'decides' for itself, and I don't know how it determines where those files go and therefore, how to find them programmatically, at run time.

    The files will always get installed under the "program files" directory. One way to check for the actual path is to look in the registry;
    HKLM\software\crystal decisions\10.0\crystal reports
    Look for the "Common files path". If you install on the "C" drive, the path will be c:\program files\common files\crystal decisions\2.5\bin.

  • Problem installing with merge module

    I use CR Developer, Product Type Full, version 11.5.8.826.
    I use it to design RPT files that use XML and XSD files as data sources.
    I deploy these RPT files to client machines that also run a web enabled app I developed using ASP.NET v.2
    I built an installer with the CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msm merge module.
    However, when I install on a clean client machine with the MSI I created I get some weird database access error in the Crystal Reportviewer that's embedded in my ASP.NET webpage.
    When I then install the entire CR Developer product on the client machine everything works fine.
    So clearly, the merge module I use does not install and register all the files required to make my product work. Am I using the wrong merge module? Should I be using the four RDC merge modules?
    It's clearly not acceptable to have install the entire CR Developer app. Also, I saw another thread where they were talking about copying the entire C:\Program Files\Business Objects\common\3.5\bin directory to the client machine. That cannot be an acceptable solution either, right?
    I need a definitive answer how to deploy the correct runtime environment to make my RPT files correctly run using the Report viewer in my web pages.
    To be clear, I do NOT use VS.NET 2005 to develop my RPT files. I do not use anything built into Visual Studio to build my RPT files. The only interaction with .NET is that I have a Reportviewer object embedded in one ASP.NET web page that visualizes the RPT files I previously created using the CR Developer app.
    This is from my web.config file:
    <add assembly="CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine, Version=11.5.3700.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692FBEA5521E1304"/>
    <add assembly="CrystalDecisions.ReportSource, Version=11.5.3700.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"/>
    <add assembly="CrystalDecisions.Shared, Version=11.5.3700.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"/>
    <add assembly="CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=11.5.3700.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"/>
    This is the aspx from the web page that shows the report viewer:
    <%@ Page Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/MasterPage.master" AutoEventWireup="true"
        CodeFile="ReportPage.aspx.cs" Inherits="Paladin_CReports.ReportPage" Title="Paladin Reports - Crystal Reports - Report" %>
    <%@ Register Assembly="CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=11.5.3700.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304"
        Namespace="CrystalDecisions.Web" TagPrefix="CR" %>
    <asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="ContentPlaceHolder1" runat="Server">
        <asp:Panel ID="Panel1" runat="server" Height="28px" Style="z-index: 100; left: 0px;
            position: absolute; top: 148px" Width="1014px">
            <CR:CrystalReportViewer ID="CrystalReportViewer1" runat="server" AutoDataBind="true"
                DisplayGroupTree="False"
                Style="z-index: 120; left: 0px; position: absolute; top: 0px" HasCrystalLogo="False"
                EnableDrillDown="False" HasDrillUpButton="False" HasToggleGroupTreeButton="False"
                HasViewList="False" ShowAllPageIds="True" HasRefreshButton="True" />
        </asp:Panel>
    </asp:Content>
    I need a definitive answer how to deploy the correct runtime environment to make my RPT files correctly run using the Report viewer in my web pages.

    Hi,
    Give a try to five read permissions to IIS_WPG for the temp folder which is under your account(In case of web application) and in case of windows app give read permission to a user for c:\windows\temp and to the folder which contains crystal reports.
    Need more info?
    What meerge module you have downloaded?
    Right merge modules are [here|http://resources.businessobjects.com/support/additional_downloads/runtime.asp#06]
    Note if appliaction uses RDC only then you need to install RDC merge modules.
    Windows or web application?
    Are you changing the XML schema?
    Hope this help!!

  • Error while installing runtime with merge modules

    Hello,
    We are creating a custom installer for our application, and so considered using the merge modules provided by NI.
    All the dependencies are OK, and the .msi (which contains only the merge modules, since the global installer is created by NSIS) is created by WiX.
    The error occurs at installation of the msi, the log file says :
    NIMURegPartInfo: Starting action...
    NIMURegPartInfo: About to get properties
    UpgradeCodeError - (null) must have a value - exiting.
    Looking at the msi file in Orca, I can see that the table "UpgradeCode" is empty, so I suppose that this why I get the error.
    How do I fill this table?
    Thanks a lot
    Charles Brossollet

    Hello,
    This is an issue with how Wix and InstallShield generate MSIs that we had not run into in the past.  They basically do not generate the tables inside the MSI if they are not used.  Therefore, we are querying MSI for information from the Upgrade table and there is not one, so MSI returns a fatal error.
    There are 2 workarounds. I would suggest the first.
    1. Generate a Upgrade table entry and have your MSI installer be upgradable.
    2. Open your MSI and comment out the entry in the InstallExecute sequence table for NIMUPersistPartRegInfo (commenting out in MSI means to set the Condition to 0).
    If you have questions about using the upgrade table  go here:
    http://windowssdk.msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/msi/setup/upgrade_table....

  • Uninstall all CPAN-installed Perl modules

    A while back, there was a large perl upgrade which required rebuilding of manually-installed Perl modules. At the time, I did not take much of any action as I did not use any applications which depended on CPAN-installed modules -- all I did was to uninstall some older Perl apps which I no longer used.
    Unfortunately, that has recently changed.
    Though I know exactly which modules I need to have on my system when all is said and done, I have no idea how to uninstall all of the old ones which came from the CPAN shell. Does anyone know how to do so?

    rowdog wrote:
    Well, modules are just files so, if you're lucky, the easy way is to find the directory where the modules were installed and delete them.
    If you're unlucky, you've intermingled CPAN modules with those installed by Arch. If that's the case, you might be able to delete each module by hand but you need to be careful not to wipe out Arch's modules. This is slow and hazardous work so please be careful.
    My guess would be that the files are installed in /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl, because mine's empty and that's what it's for. The exact location is controlled by whatever you used to install the modules. (cpan probably, but there are others.)
    If you're really lucky, you can get away with
    cd /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl
    rm -rf .
    Yes, I do have such bad luck. I have used the CPAN.pm shell, the AUR, and pacman to install Perl modules. I shall do more research regarding exactly what goes where during a CPAN.pm-based install. I am not at my own computer so I cannot do all of this now. I will get back to you on this tomorrow. Thank you for your response.

    To start the Application Server, open a terminal

    or command prompt and execute the following:
    asadmin start-domain --verbose domain1 The comand window starts with C:\documents and settings\administrator, should I firstly change it to C:\ ? and how to change to C:\ ?
    Or, on Windows, you can choose
    Programs -> Sun Microsystems -> J2EE 1.4 SDK -> Start
    Default Server No, in my Programs menue, there's no Sun Microsystems.
    Says Starting and Stopping the Application Server
    chapter of The J2EE 1.4 Tutorial:

    I browsed the tutorial, it doesn't provide such a trouble shooting.
    Are you sure that you have application server
    installed?Ths install procedure was successfully finished without any error message. Also, I can see J2EE is in my Control Pannel\ Add Remove\Program list.
    What should I do? Thanks!

  • How do I install the modules from Business Catalyst into Dreamweaver?

    They have changed things around compared to Dreamweaver 6. I have my website on the B.C. website, but don't know how to add the modules on Dreamweaver.

    Thanks for the reply. I already have the add on installed. I've had it installed and using it for a few months now. The issue is, unlike the previous version before DW CC, I was able to install the modules on my computer and open them up in D.W. and was able to add the modules to my pages through D.W.
    I'll look at the link again and see if that is what it's showing me what to do.
