Hi,
You can't apply that OSS note(if you are on 4.6B) if it is not applicable for 46B, you have to search for the relavent OSS note for your problem.
reward if useful.

  • Cross References Will Not Display Page Number

    Got some documents created in InDesign CS3 (MAC). When bringing them into CS4 (Windows) and trying to create a paragraph cross-reference the page numbers will not display. All the other text in the cross reference ("paragraph", the word "page", etc.) displays correctly. Even the cross reference under the "hyperlinks" toolbar shows nothing (instead of the usual # indicating a page number).
    However If I copy some of the same pages into a new document and create a cross reference in it the page number displays correctly. But since it's over 300 pages I really would hate to have to do that!
    Any ideas?

    Is it maybe because CS3 does not include the cross references function (not a feature until CS4)?
    That's a real problem if we use an outside source to create a lot of our documents and they're working in a previous version.

  • How can I remove the page number from the first page of the document that is the cover page?

    How can I remove the page number from the first page of the document that is the cover page?

    If you open the Pages panel, (Window>Pages) you will see thumbnails of your master pages and your document pages. In new documents, there is usually a master called A-Master and one called None. If you drag the thumbnail of the None master onto the thumbnail of a document page, it will apply that master to that page. Presumably, you have made your page numbers on A-Master, so this will usually do the trick. If you have elements on A-Master that you need on the first page, but just not the page number, you can duplicate A-Master (which, by default will give you B-Master, but you can change the names if you like) and remove the page number on the duplicate and apply that to the document page.
    It might also be worth noting that you can apply master pages in the fly-out of the Pages panel. Go to the fly-out triangle and go down to Apply Master to Pages…, then select a master to apply and the range of pages (1-8 will give you all 8, 1, 3, 5, 7 will be the odds, 1-3, 4, 6-8 if you want continuous ranges and individual pages).

  • Table of contents will not show page numbers

    I have a 1000+ page document which has a TOC which is broken upon installing Snow Leopard. There were no issues with it prior SL, anyway. The TOC is built correctly, according to Help and the Manual. What I get is a list of items for the TOC, but no page numbers. The page numbers should be checked to act as links. The odd thing is that when I highlight the TOC the place for the page numbers gets selected. So clearly there is something where the numbers should be, but it is not visible, nor is it clickable. Copying and pasting the TOC to TextEdit also shows the same thing--something's there, just not a page number.
    Help is much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    T

    Hello
    Here, under Snow 10.6.1, the TOC behaves well so you have something wrong on your system.
    Check that you have installed the upgrade to Pages 4.0.2
    Check that Pages (as well as Numbers and Keynote) are correctly stored in the Applications:iWork '09 folder
    Quit/close the application(s)
    Run Disk Utilities to repair permissions.
    It would be interesting to run Coktail to repair several other system files but Coktail is not free.
    Try to run Pages from an other user account. If it behave well from this one, we will know that the odddity is in your user account.
    Drag the iWork preferences files on the desktop then restart the application(s)
    Restart Pages.
    If it behaves well, the problem was a corrupted preferences file.
    Some problems where reported with fonts.
    So it would be a good idea to disable third party fonts AND Hoefler Text.
    But I assume that you don't use this one in your 1000 pages document.
    After that, let us know the results.

  • How to retrieve page number of a page

    Hi
    I need to retrieve page numbers that have been placed on InDesign pages. However these page numbers are autogenerated based on markers (formula) created using a master page. (Insert special characters -> markers).
    When i try to retrieve page items on a page, I am not able to get the page number item. If I try to get the pageitem corresponding to the page number from the master page, I get back the marker but not the page number that exists on my page.
    I am wondering if there is any way I can retrieve the page number on a given page using the SDK
    many thanks
    Sam

    Hi
    Thanks a lot for the quick reply.. For my usecase i now realize i have a different sort of problem.
    I am trying to take snapshot of pageitems on a page (using snapshotUtils sample). Now since the page number marker comes from the master page, when i take the snapshot of the page number item on my page,  this page item exists on the master page. On the master page, this pagenumber does not contain the actual page number but the marker text in it. So mysnapshot gives me the image of the marker text rather than the page number. I am wondering what I can do to basically get a snapshot of a page item which comes from a marker on the master page
    Thus on my master page i have a text box with Pagenumber: "Marker A" for page number
    on my page, I want to take snapshot of  Pagenumber:10 which is what gets displayed on my page
    However when i take snapshot, since i am taking snapshot of master page item, i get Pagenumber: Marker A as my snapshot
    thanks
    Sam
    Here is my code snippet for what I am doing
    InterfacePtr<IMasterPage>   masterPage(currentDocumentDataBase, pageUID, UseDefaultIID());
      if(masterPage  !=  nil)
          UID masterSpreadUID = masterPage->GetMasterPageUID();
            uint16 masterPageIndex = masterPage->GetMasterIndex();
           //get the  master  spread
            InterfacePtr<ISpread>   masterSpread( currentDocumentDataBase, masterSpreadUID, UseDefaultIID()  );
           if(masterSpread   != nil)
                    UIDList masterPageItems( currentDocumentDataBase );
                       masterSpread->GetItemsOnPage(masterPageIndex,   &masterPageItems, kFalse, kFalse);
    The problem is  that  SnapShotUtilsEx captures the item as it appears on the master page, not  on  the current page.  So thing like page markers are wrong.
    thanks

  • Page Number, Date, Time Updation

    Hi,
    I've three Fields in my template which are supposed to be updated according to the time of viewing the report. However I'm able to update the Date and Time fields using the inbuilt option in Word 2007 but not the page number. I find no such option available in word. is there a go?

    I have managed to solve this by changing page settings. These were oddly reset when the printer was installed.

  • Not able to reset the page number in XML Publisher based on each PO

    Not able to reset the page number in XML Publisher based on PO
    Hi,
    I have created a custom purchase report and rtf template. In the rtf template, I have added the page number feature (i.e. Page 1 of 5) from Word in the template. When I run the report for a range of POs, I expect the results as follows:
    I have given 3 POs on single request. (PO#1 has 3 pages, PO#2 has 2 pages and PO#3 has 4 pages), the page number on each PO should look like as follows:
    PO#1 page 1 of 3, page 2 of 3, page 3 of 3
    PO#2 page 1 of 2 page 2 of 2
    PO#3 page 1 of 4, page 2 of 4, page 3 of 4 and page 4 of 4
    But the page number displays on each PO as follows:
    PO#1 page 1 of 9, page 2 of 9, page 3 of 9
    PO#2 page 4 of 9 page 5 of 9
    PO#3 page 6 of 9, page 7 of 9, page 8 of 9 and page 9 of 9
    Here I have to reset the page number based on each PO. If anyone done this already, can you please share with me.
    Thanks,
    Ram.

    Hi
    One clarification please.
    Are you putting Page # of ## in the for-loop section? I mean it should be within For-each@section block.
    Even if this doesn;t work, then try using Insert->Page Break after every PO.

    Hi Dominic,
    Thank you for the link. The problem that I have is when the job specification last page prints on the front of the page, and the next job specification prints on the back of that page. There is no way I can control what page it is going to print on. This is depending on how much description the user puts in. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.
    I do have another issue too, and you maybe able to help me with this. Below is a list of form fields on my template. When the job specification is printed on more than one page, I could not get the fk_job_title to print on the continuous pages. Is there a way I can code this fk_job_title to print on all of it's continuos page? I have tried many different ways but could not get it to print. I also posted this in the forum, but didn't get any respond.

  • Initial-page-number not working in RTF format output

    A report has a parameter for the page number to start with. In rtf template below code is present
    <?initial-page-number:xdoxslt:ifelse(P_FIRST_PAGE_NUM!=’’,number(P_FIRST_PAGE_NUM),1)?>
    The report page number starts with the value which we pass in p_first_page_num in PDF format but in rtf format output it always starts with 1.
    Is initial-page-number not supported in RTF format output ? If not then what is the alternative?

    the method u followed is fine as need a page number staring from a specify value which u input.
    @section is only for resetting page number to 1 for every group and for that pdf and ppt will be fine but only for rtf u need to use that ( pressing F9).
    u can use @section and initial page number combined but they give u same output as get now. rtf output wont support it will only reset 1 every time
    What ever u do rtf output wont support initial page number code ..........
    i mentioned that F9 work around to mention that it is the only work around u have upto now to control rtf output with regards to page number.

  • When creating a comment summary, I want to end up with a pdf of comments only. In addition, I do not want author, date, time, or page number to show in my comments summary. How can I do this?

    When creating a comment summary, I want to end up with a pdf of comments only. In addition, I do not want author, date, time, or page number to show in my comments summary. How can I do this? I do a lot of reading, and when I summarize my comments, I like to save these comments in a larger document I compile over time. I typically create a comment summary, export it to a text editor and find myself having to delete author, date, time, page number, and anything else that is not the raw and net comment. It would save me some good time if someone showed me how to do this. The reason I do not want any additional information is because it simply adds stuff I do not need in my compilation of summaries for large amounts of papers over time.

    What you're describing can't be achieved using the built-in comments summary function of Acrobat, but it can certainly be done if a custom-made script it used to generate the summary because then you're in full control of what's included in it and what's not.

  • On Yosemite how do I get Pages to print the page number on every page, not just on alternate ones?

    I  only changed from Windows to an iMac earlier this year (now on Yosemite), but cannot get Pages to print the page number on every page;  it seems only to do it on alternate pages.

    Jeff,
    I do NOT understand your positive attitude. If someone has a problem with Numbers in Yosemite, you tell them to resurrect a pre-Yosemite version of Numbers.
    The VIEW LAYOUT command is basic and critical to Numbers; how could Apple over-look such an important function in Yosemite ... ???

  • How do I get rid of a page number that's not in the header of a Pages doc?

    On one of my pages document is a page number beside the header area but not in the header.
    I can't select it, can't find anything in the Pages help to tell me how that page number came about and how to get rid of it.

    Try Format > Advanced > Make Master objects selectable.

  • Getting Page number for Notes

    Hi
    I am using the below methods to retreive page number of notes.
    Method 1
    var myNotes = myDocument.stories.item(k).notes.everyItem().getElements();
    Method 2
    myDocument.stories.item(k).paragraphs.item(i).notes.length;
    Wat is the best way to scan through the notes in a document. I am trying to get the page number for each note(Page on which the note is placed)
    For Method 1:
    var myFrame = myDocument.stories.item(k).textContainers[0];
    var myPage=myFrame.parent.name;
    For Method 2:
    myDocument.stories.item(k).paragraphs.item(i).parentTextFrames[0].parent.name;
    In both the cases some of the page numbers aren't displayed. Can somebody tell me is there any other way or am i doing something wrong.
    Thanks

    Footnotes have a property storyOffset, which is the location of the footnote's cue in the text. This is an insertion point, so the following line gives myFootnote's page number:
    >myFootnote.storyOffset.parentTextFrames[0].parent.name

  • Search rollover page number not consistent with thumb and pdf page number

    Does Adobe Reader have a search window phrase rollover, yellow-highlighted pop up page number bug displaying the wrong page in some circumstances?
    If Yes, how do I report that bug to get Adobe to fix it?
    Viewing the same PDF:
    MacPreview does not have the problem described below,
    Adobe Reader does have the problem.
    Adobe Reader, search phrase rollover, pops up a page number that is yellow-highlighted, e.g., p# 29, and is wrong, whereas the page number for the thumb and PDF are both the same and are correct.
    My PDF has been set on Acrobat Pro to properly paginate the first eight pages in lowercase Roman numerals (i, ii, iii, iv, v, vi, vii, viii) followed by Arabic numerals (1, 2, etc.). My PDF uses an AcrobatPro special setting to properly handle this pagination scheme. The search phrase rollover pops up a yellow-highlighted page number that wrongly adds 8 pages to the page number for the thumb and for the PDF page. Suspiciously, we have 8 pages with lowercase Roman numbers. Remember, viewing the same PDF, MacPreview works perfectly, producing identical and correct page numbers for the phrase, thumb, and PDF.

    the method u followed is fine as need a page number staring from a specify value which u input.
    @section is only for resetting page number to 1 for every group and for that pdf and ppt will be fine but only for rtf u need to use that ( pressing F9).
