FCE 2.03 Video frame freezes while audio continues capture

Using capture now or Clip, just recently I've been having problems capturing video clips with capture now or clip.
The capture begins OK but along the way it stops capturing the video portion but the audio continues. At some future point the video begins to capture along with the audio but the audio sync is way off.
I am capturing from a JVC BR-DV600U Video Cassette Recorder from tapes recoded on a Canon Optura Camcorder.
It's been awhile since I've done this and never had thei problem before. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

So, in the interim, did you update/upgrade your Mac to 10.4.11?
Some combinations of FCE, OSX and QuickTime don't work too well together, and often the symptoms are problems with capturing video. If I recall correctly, on OSX 10.4.11 you have to have at least FCE 3.5.1 because of the level of QuickTime required by 10.4.11.
Again, what version of QT do you have on your G5?

  • Flash Player streaming video keeps freezing while audio continues

    Hi,
I have been having a problem with flash player for a couple of months now. When watching streaming video's the video will freeze for a second every 5-10 seconds constantly, but the audio continues uninterrupted. I have tried everything, enabling/disabling hardware acceleration; reinstalling flash player 11; trying flash player 10; updating the graphics drivers. I have also tried it on 5 different browsers: IE, Firefox, Chrome, Seamonkey (mozilla browser), and Opera. The same problem occurs on all of them. Yesterday I thought I had cracked it when I realised I had several versions of java installed and once I deleted all the old versions flash player worked fine. However, today the problem has started all over again, and for some reason flash player had deleted itself when I turned the computer on this evening.
I have checked my internet connection speed online and am running an average speed of 5Mbps. I have 2.5 GB's of RAM, and a 2.2 GHz AMD Athlon 64 3500+ processor. I am using Windows XP. I have never had any problems with flash player on this pc (which I've had for 6 years), and as far as I can tell this problem started occurring a couple of weeks before flash player 11 was released.
I'd be very grateful for any help anyone can give resolving this problem.
    Regards,
    Chris Perkins

I think the issue may be related to Silverlight which I think was released in September when we both started getting this problem. DIsabling it does not work, so I'm still not sure how or if it really is causing this problem.
If the player is Silverlight, you'd be able to see that by right clicking the video.
Can you go to Youtube, play any video and then right click it and choose "Take Speed Test". That will take you to a graph where you can see what your download speed is in relation to your ISP, your location and other data. If the black bar is way down compared with others, then I would suspect that something, or somebody else is using your bandwidth. Do you have wireless? If so, change the security code. It may be being used as a wireless hotspot by your neighbours.
You can also play the test video which will show data usage in real time.

  • Html5 videos: video periodically freezes while audio continues to play. Firefox 12, Linux, Centos 5 up to date.

whenever I view a YouTube video on my linux box (Centos 5.8, fully updated) using Firefox12, YouTube always delivers the html5 video to me instead of Flash. This would be fine, but intermittently the video stops moving (while the audio keeps playing). I click the (I don't know what it's called) slider for the current position and the video will start moving again. until it pauses next time, anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes.
I don't know why it delivers html5 instead of flash, on my laptop using centos 6 and firefox12 I get flash video. Is there someway to configure Firefox to get flash instead? If not, I'd appreciate help in fixing the pausing video component.

  • Captivate Video Blacks out while Audio continues

We are having problems with the video cutting out while the
audio continues. We have ran the captivate file from our web server
as well as downloading the files to our desktop and we experience
    the same problem.
We updated to the latest Java v1.42, cleared the cache,
history, updated flash player V8, cookies and changed the proxy
    settings.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

I actually figured out a fix myself.  When I compared the 3 clips in detail, I noticed that the 2 that were having problems were not converted.  All I had to do was to open the Clip inspector and click on the "Convert Entire Clip" button under the Speed section. Now my movie is playing fine.

  • DVD freezes while audio continues to play

I'm exporting a project in 10 minute chunks from my timeline with the "make movie self-contained" box unchecked. Then I'm importing those unself-contained quicktime movies into iDVD, and when I play them back, it will freeze 5 min into the clip but the audio will continue to play. I burned 3 disks, and 2 turned out like this. One was fine. The only good one was the 2nd burned disk. Help? Thanks!

If the reference movie you exported from FCP is fine, this seems to be an iDVD issue. You might want to post your question in that forum.

  • Dvd player not working after Instaling OS X 10.8.4 Video freezes while audio keeps playing

After installing OS X 10.8.4 I tried to play a DVD and the video starts to freeze up while audio keeps playing. Video eventually stops completely while audio continues to play. Is anyone else having this issue? Does anyone know how to fix this issue??

Try booting into the Safe Mode to see if the same problem occurs.  Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application unistaller. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • Premiere cc 14 video is freezing but audio plays?  Mac

I am in OS 10.9.3  3.5ghz intel for i7 iMac  32 gb memory, and timeline playback works for a while and then freezes, but audio continues to play.  This is really slowing down the edit.  Help Please? !

If Safari is the only browser you are having problems with dealing with QT see if the following is of any help:
To fix a QT related problem w/Safari, quit Safari & look in the /Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder (this is the Library folder at the root level of your HD, not the one inside your Users/user name folder).
Try removing the VLC Plugin.plugin (if you have it) & QT Plugin.plugin files from this folder, & then relaunch Safari. If the problem isn’t fixed, a different plug-in may be to blame. Keep removing files from this folder (start with any third-party plug-ins that are present) until the problem disappears.
Replace the plug-ins that don’t cause any problems.

  • [SOLVED] flashplugin video freezing while audio is fine

I saw a post about this on this forum, but I've been searching the forum for about 5 hours now and I can't find it, so I'll post a new topic.
When I do almost anything with adobe flash (in firefox or chromium) after about five seconds the visual freezes while the audio goes on.  I hesitate to call it "video" because this happens with games and such, not just youtube-type videos.  If I right click on the flash animation/video/whatever you want to call it, it starts working again, but only for a few seconds before the same thing happens again.
Also, if I make videos fullscreen, it's just a black screen the first time.  I exit fullscreen and do it again and then it works.  Sometimes the video for that freezes, too, but less often.
I've tried uncommenting EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode=1 in /etc/adobe/mms.cfg and that doesn't help.  In fact, if I try a fullscreen video with that uncommented, the X server crashes when I try to exit fullscreen.
I've got an intel video card and I've tried playing with xorg.conf enabling EXA with greedy MigrationHeuristic, UXA, XAA, I've tried turning off tiling.  Nothing works.  And I'm not using compiz or anything like that.  I've tried everything I know.  Anybody have any other suggestions???  (Please...?)

  • Quicktime video freezes/pauses/skips while audio continues at normal rate.

So here's my problem. I used a Canon Vixia to record some AVCHD footage of my band playing at a gig. I imported it into Final Cut Pro 7 using Log & Transfer. I edited the footage just fine (very simple cuts to remove unnecessary footage and add some title overlays).
However, upon being exported, whenever I opened the .mov in Quicktime, the video would pause, freeze, or skip while the audio continued. Then the video would move extremely quickly to catch up to the audio. It has done this exported as ProRes 422 (LT), Apple Intermediate Codec, and H.264 (I used Compressor to get it into H.264). The only program to play without any skipping/speeding up was VLC, and there was some heavy pixelization/grey screens going on.
Upon a whim, I uploaded one of the clips to Facebook. It still played the skips for me, but I had friends tell me that it played perfectly for them. I used a different computer, and sure enough, not a skip in sight. Going back to my computer, it still played the skips/speed-ups. They are present in Facebook, YouTube, Quicktime (both 7 and X), MPEG Streamclip, and during preview by pressing spacebar with the file selected.
I'm running this on a 15" Macbook Pro (Early 2011 model) with Snow Leopard (10.6.8), 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5, and 4 GB of RAM.

  • My "Saved-for-iPod" mp4 video stops, while audio continues...

This has recently happened both with saving iMovie HD 6.0.4 projects as mp4s, and for DVD. 1) In iMovie, I imported a .mov I made in iPhoto (slideshow with jpegs & added music). Just that one file. I then saved it for iPod. I played it in iTunes, and the first minute is fine, but then the video "freezes" while the audio continues. Same thing happened when I synched it to my iPod. 2) In iMovie, I imported 5 avi files and added dissolve transitions. Sent to iDVD 6.0.4 and made a DVD. Same thing. The video image freezes at some point, and audio continues. I previously made DVDs successfully, by importing avi files to iMovie HD 6.0.2 & adding transitions. I can't figure out what could be wrong. Any help is appreciated.

I have the iPod Touch 32GB and my video podcasts do the same thing. The video portion just freezes randomly but the audio continues on. This happens with a variety of video podcasts on my Touch. Very annoying and unacceptable for unit in this price range. I would love to see a solution to this problem!

  • Video freezes but audio continues

Help! I have been having this problem for a couple of weeks now. It seems to happen randomly. I will be watching a video on YouTube for example and then the video will freeze and the audio will continue. The only way out is to do a system reset. I have done a factory restore, but the problem continues. I have run diagnostics and the only thing it says is something about the network connection. However, the network works fine. I have had this happen to a TV show that I purchased also. I had to reboot the Apple TV several times just to get through the show. Very annoying. What could be causing my problem? And, it is no longer under warranty. Thanks for any assistance!
Oh, I have updated the Apple TV to the latest 2.3.1 version. Could this be the problem? I don't remember this freezing problem before this update. Any way to go back to an earlier update?
    Thanks again.

To be honest that's the first time I've ever heard anyone running Diagnostics and something being reported by it!
You may think your network's fine but AppleTV clearly doesn't.
    What's the message?

Could be software/hardware/network.....no easy answer here.

No - you've already done a factory restore - even if that rolls you back a few versions, it'll soon nag you to update to 2.3.1 again. No selective software updates can be applied.

  • Video playback stops while audio goes on

After several month of not making any movies, I am trying a new project. Right of the start something is wrong, freshly imported unedited line of clips is not being played correctly in iMovie preview window - video stops in about 30sec or so, while audio goes on. If I switch to full screen, it gives me another 10sec of video, then it stops there, too, and nothing brings frozen video back to life. After restarting the app, everything repeats.
Needless to say it's impossible to edit.
It also does it with the older projects, which used to work just fine.
Here is what I've done so far:
    1. Repaired permissions on startup disk and checked it for errors.
    2. Repaired external disk, where the project resides (even tried to move the project to internal disk with no avail - same results), and where I have 80GB of free space.
    3. Replaced external disk's directory, using DiskWarrior.
    4. Deleted iMovie preferences file.
    5. Removed all third-party plug-ins I had.
    Nothing works.
QuickTime Player seems to play imported clips fine, so I am guessing, it's an iMovie bug. Any practical suggestions would be highly aprecciated (by practical I mean, not "reformat your hard drive and reinstall everything" or "buy a faster computer" or "invest in FinalCut instead")
I've been a loyal iLife user since the very beginning, and I swear, iMovie in it's buginnes is only challenged by iDVD.

It is a common problem for G4 800 machines and I've been told Apple is investigating the issue.
Try putting your Mac to "sleep" for a minute and then try the file again.

  • Why does my video  not play while audio does?

Using iMovie 9 found that after bringing a clip from clips pane into my project that I could no longer insert or edit the project. The green insert cursor remained but all was frozen. After quitting, video clips in project pane will not play while audio (both audio from the actual clips and music) does play. When mouse hovers/scrubs over the clips in the project pane the video clips do come alive but not when i press space bar or play buttons (play full screen /play project from beginning buttons) in bottom left of window. Strangely video in clips pane do play when I press space bar.
I tried creating a new project and importing clips but no video will play. Same thing applies to all my imovie projects. Another strange thing, the other projects will play when I click on Play Fullscreen button but not my most recent project. Instead, when I click Play full screen button the Last (ie. last in alphabeitical order) of my projects plays instead!
I would really appreciate some help with this. Have spent a lot of hours on the project and seems like I can't even start again.

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • Screen recording-video pauses while audio continues

When I make a screen recording, the audio and video are playing perfectly (I use soundflower for the audio). However, when I go to watch my screen recording, it starts off like normal but about 30 seconds into the video, the video pauses while the audio continues playing like normal. Any reason as to why this is happening? I'm not just recording my screen but also a video from a website, don't know if that makes a difference.
    Thanks

I am having the same issue I posted this elsewhere
I have a Mid 2010 Mac Mini Server (full specs below) and very recently it has developed a strange problem.  I'll be watching something on iTunes and the video will stop but the audio continues.  If I move the mouse and click on the screen the video suddenly plays very fast untill it catches up with the audio and then for a while it will play normally.  I can go through this process 3-4 times an hour before I give up and stream to my iPad instead.
in the beginning it only happened when I was using the HDMI cable but recently it happens when the mini VGA adaptor is plugged in too.
its beginning to be very frustrating so any help would be truly appreciated.
