FCE 2, Configuration Error: AGP missing
I keep getting the error message:
"This software requires certain harware or software which is missing.
-AGP graphics card"
I have an ATI Radeon X1600, which according to the website is compatable. I have tried downloading all of the patches and updates, but nothing seems to work. Anyone have any suggestions?

The upgrade of $99 is well worth it as there is a tremendous difference between FCE 1 and FCE 4.
1. It will work a lot faster.
2. There have been numerous improvements, not the least being instantaneous playback of effects.
3. It comes with LiveType, a mind-blowing titling and animation program, which alone is well worth the upgrade cost.

Error Msg. "Configuration Error AGP Graphics Card"
I recently purchased a MacBook Pro 17". I migrated my software from my old computer, but when I tried to open Final Cut Express HD, I got an error message saying Configuration Error "AGP Graphics Card." I reinstalled my original disk but got the same error message. When I went to the support site, it indicated for that error message that I needed to download an update. I did that, but the install indicated that I was already updated and current. What can I do?
Try hitting the esc key whenever you get the message.
You are probably using FCE 3.0 which was not designed to run on Intel Macs. -

You are in the Final Cut Pro forum and find more focused help over in the FCExpress forum.
That said, usually these messages arise when you are installing an older, non-intel version of the software on an intel machine.
You can not update it, you need to purchase the upgrade to the current Universal Binary (aka intel ready) version of the software for it to run properly.
Good luck,

FCE can't launch AGP Graphics Card?
I've been using FCE 4.x for years. The other day, I installed Soundtrack and all of a sudden my Final cut won't open or launch. I'm getting a "Configuration Error"
"This software requires certain hardware or software which is missing."
"AGP graphics card."
I have done nothing in regards to my OS or hardware. All I have done is install Soundtrack the other day.
Please help...as a final note, this is what I had to do. I used the FCE remover application from a link in a previous post, then re-installed FCE version 4.0 from DVD disk. Then, I was getting errors about my existing FCE projects being newer than the application version. I realized that I had probably downloaded an update. So, I did Software update to version 4.01 (I think). It all works great now!
Thanks for your time and advice. I should have known that by installing Soundtrack which no longer comes with FCE 4, that it's an older application but I didn't think it would have anything to do with my version of FCE. Glad you pointed me right... -
Configuration error opening video file.
i get the configuration error that says the software requires certain hardware or software, which is missing. AGP graphic card
i had an ati 9800 graphic card on my g4, now i get the error code. how can i solve this since my g5 duel has the apple graphic card?I have uninstalled and reinstalled all my software of Adobe looking for a solution. After uninstall I have use the adoble cleaner with a sussessfully notice after finished. I have try some of the steps adviced here in some other forums with similar troubles but got unsuccess results. at this point I have reinstalled all my software of Adobe in Win7 64 bit: photoshop CS6 extended and Lightroom 4. In both applications find the same message error when opening video files and both applications works perfect with all other image files: tiff, jpg, raw...
for me its a weird situation that I have not found a clear answer to this problem if we think that I found other adobe users have previously noticed same or very similar experiences with the Dynamiclink Media Server and the "../../Src/directoryRegistry.cpp-283" error message. Actually I wet to Adobe and tried to download the dynamiclink media server and install it manually and there is a failure message saying something that could not install it on this computer.....
The same problem happens having or not having installe the Adobe application Manager which is now CCloud, in both cases is unable to open video files and in both cases the application crashes and have to use Ctl+Alt+Supr to close the Adobe crashed software... before and after being reinstalled a fresh version of my adobe software. -
Configuration error message....
Greetings!
Recently purchased a refurbished 17" MacBook Pro - complete with 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo. Got all settled in, loaded up Final Cut Pro 4.0, clicked it and got the following message: "Configuration error: This software requires certain hardware or software which is missing".
There is a bullet point with the words "AGP graphics card."
I was under the impression that this computer was good to go out of the box for heavy graphics programs -- Final Cut, Photoshop CS, After Effects, etc.
Did I go wrong? Do I need to put a graphics card in this computer, or is this an error message about which I should be concerned?
Thanks.

Final Cut Pro HD 4.5 (Configuration Error on Dual Core MacPro)
I just installed my old Final Cut Pro Hd version 4.5 on my new Dual Core Intel Xeon MacPro, and it says exactly this:
Configuration error
This software requires certain hardware or software which is missing.
•Power Macintosh G4/350 megahertz (MHz), or faster
•AGP graphics card.
Im sure what I have in my computer is something way more better than what it suggests me having. FCP 4.5 was out like 2 years ago. I looked on the support site and couldn't find anything, is there any updates that make it compatible with my computer?
Thanks in advance.Ah, but now you have a mac that uses a different chip...older versions of FCP will not work on the new configuration. You need to upgrade to FCP 5.1.

Configuration Error This Software requires certain hardware or software. .
I installed FCP on my ibook so I could do some work in transit, and got the following error when I tried to open FCP. Is There a way around this?
Configuration Error This Software requires certain hardware or software which is missing - APG graphics card#29: Need AGP Graphics card
Shane's Stock Answer #29 – Error: “Need AGP Graphics card”
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302667
The Final Cut software is looking for a graphics card type that is required for that version of the software. FCP 4 and FCP 4.5 were released when AGP cards were the requirement. Attempting to open this on a Mac with a PCIe graphics card, such as an Intel Mac, will cause this error. FCP 4.5 is not supported on the Intel Macs. If you happen to have a PowerPC Quad processor Mac and get this error, you can try this hack:
http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/feedback/finalcut_pro_on_oldmacs.html
You can also press the "esc" key as you launch FCP. This enables FCP to open and run, but know that it might not work optimally.
If that doesn’t work, or if you have an Intel Mac, you are going to have to upgrade to a supported version of FCP…and FCP 6, part of Final Cut Studio 2, is the latest version.

In that case you should probably check that no other packages are missing files with
pacman -Qkk 2>&1 | grep "No such file or directory"
Any packages that report that they're missing files, you should reinstall. -

I booted my new-ish laptop and immediately got an EXTREMELY serious pre-boot error.
"Recovery. Your PC needs to be repaired. The boot configuration data is missing some required information. file:\BCD error code 0x0000034. ... press ESCAPE to go to (pre-)boot menu." (and laptop turns off after 20 secs)
After pressing ESC and getting the (pre-)boot menu, NOTHING I tried worked !! Tried several times.
I had to use a 6 inch e-reader to access the web. After a long long search and finding little of use, I found an obscure forum post that said to press 0 during the Toshiba pre-boot.
After a long wait. That gave me the Win 8.1 maintenance window. I followed the advanced options to auto-repair my laptop. After a long wait it told me:
"Could not repair PC" !!!???
I decided to click the reboot menu from this win 8.1 windows. It was basically my only option left.
After a long reboot, it seems to have worked !?? Some of my Win 8.1 settings have been lost AGAIN; e.g. task manager default viewing settings.
CONLUSIONS (brief):
- Not having a recovery USB
- Not having a recovery DVD (useless since Win 8.1 deactivated this)
- Not having the Win 8.1 install disk
- Not knowing the pre-boot press 0 key trick
- MAKE SURE you have a recovery USB for your system (cannot use a DVD on win 8.1)
- Don't believe Win 8.1 statements saying can't repair PC !!??
I never expected this from Toshiba and a non-cheap laptop.

Go to Solution.Satellite E45t-A4300 part number PSUB2U-00K00P
Press f12 then advanced options, then Automatic repair or other options listed below:
From page 115 of your user manual-
Advanced options
Choosing this option presents you with another set of
options:
System Restore
❖ System Restore allows you to use a Restore point to
return the computer to a state at which it was performing
properly. Restore points are created:
❖ When new hardware or software is installed
❖ Manually by the user
System Image Recovery
Windows® will “Recover” the Operating system using a
specific image provided by the user.
116 If Something Goes Wrong
The Windows® operating system is not working
Automatic Repair
This feature automates the repair process. The Operating
System will automatically look for problems and repair them
if possible.
Command Prompt
The command prompt is a very powerful tool for advanced
users.
Startup Settings
In previous Operating Systems the majority of the options
found on this menu were available by pressing the F8 key
during the Windows® boot process:
❖ Enable low resolution video mode
Restarts Windows® using your current video driver at low
resolution. This allows you to reset your display settings
in the event they have been improperly set.
❖ Enable debugging mode
Starts Windows® in an advanced troubleshooting mode
❖ Enable boot logging
Creates a file that lists all the drivers that are installed
during startup
❖ Enable Safe Mode
Starts Windows® with a minimal set of drivers and
services. If the computer starts and runs in Safe Mode,
you will know the Operating System is most likely
working properly and that you should look to third-party
applications or drivers for the source of your problem.
❖ Disable driver signature enforcement
Allows drivers containing improper signatures to be
installed
❖ Disable early-launch anti-malware protection
Allows drivers to initialize without being measured by the
Anti-malware driver
❖ Disable automatic restart on system failure
Prevents Windows® from automatically restarting if an
error causes it to fail. Choose this option only if
Windows® is stuck in a loop where it fails, attempts to
restart, and fails again repeatedly.

BI Metadata Repository Configuration Error
Hello gurus.
Maybe somebody can tell how to solve this problem.
When try to create BI Metadata Repository (see note 1049784) an error received:
Configuration Error: Missing attribute: cacheid_lock, configuration node = component-config, location = config://local/cm/repository_managers/bw_metadata
The same error received on BI Document Repository activation.
So, where could find this cacheid_lock attribute?

I am launching another app using NSWorkspace launchApplicationAtURL:options:configuration:error.
The app is owned by root, has permission: rwx r-x r-x, and owned by root:wheel.
The app is also located in /Applications folder (e.g. /Application/MyApp.app).
According to the following link under the "Launching Helpers with Launch Services" section:http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/Security/Conceptual/AppSan dboxDesignGuide/AppSandboxInDepth/AppSandboxInDepth.html
I should be able to launch my app because the following condition is met:
The app is installed in /Applications and the app bundle and all contents are owned by root.
When launching the app, I get the following error:
"The application “MyApp” could not be launched because it is corrupt."
"The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error -10827.)"
Which is, according to the same link, the error when none of the conditions have been met.
Note that I am using Mac OS X 10.8. In Mac OS X 10.7.5, I don't encounter the same issue.
Note also that I am trying to run the app "MyApp" inside a sandboxed application.
I tried using 2 builds of "MyApp", but in both builds, the issue can be replicated:
Code-signed (using a self-signed certificate)
Not code-signed
What seems to be the problem? Am I missing something?Yes, but it also says in the apple documentation that:
A sandboxed app is allowed to launch a helper using Launch Services if at least one of these conditions has been met
Even if I did not pass the condition:
Both the app and helper pass the Gatekeeper assessment. By default that means both are signed by the Mac App Store or with a Developer ID.
I am pretty sure that the following condition has been met:
The app is installed in /Applications and the app bundle and all contents are owned by root. -
'Configuration Error: 6' appears when attempting to open Photoshop on new Macbook
I had Photoshop CS5 installed on my previous Macbook which is now broken, however a friend of mine was able to copy it on to an external hard drive for me. I have now purchased a new Macbook, copied and installed Photoshop on to it from the external, however when I try to open it, 'Error: 6' appears, it states: 'Configuration error. Please uninstall and reinstall the product. if this problem still occurs, please contact Adobe technical support for help, and mention the error code shown at the bottom of this screen.'
How do I fix this problem? Thank you in advance.Install Photoshop from scratch from the original medium, download or DVD.
Whether your friend "copied" Photoshop from your own broken Mac Book or from his machine (the latter would be completely illegal software piracy, by the way), that will NEVER work on your new machine.
First, the Photoshop installation places many auxiliary files outside the Photoshop folder all over the place. Copying misses a bunch of critical files.
Second, the activation of the installed copy of the activation is tied to the serial numbers on the CPU of the machine and is useless in any other machine.
I repeat: Install Photoshop from scratch from the original medium, download or DVD.
