FCE 3 work well on Leopard??

Hello there Mac Gurus,
I am getting a Macbook Pro and am wondering if my old copy of FCE HD 3 will work well with Leopard or if I need to buy the 4 upgrade.
can you help she a little light?
Thanks!
d

Hi Dairlo
I also have a Macbook Pro and FCE3.5 HD works well under leopard. There should be no problems, if you are working only with SD this should not be a problem, if you start shooting HD then consider upgrading to FCE4 as this allows SD/HD on the same timeline!!!

  • Adobe LightRoom Won't work well in Leopard

Don't install Leopard if you use Lightroom. It slows down to the point it is unusable at least for me.
After I installed Leopard and found LR not working, I found a note on Adobe site which says it isn't compatible yet but will be in the future. No date given
I believed some of the reviews that said Leopard works without problems. Now I think I have to go back to 10.4

    I'm glad to hear that.
I have 1.5 Gig memory on a G5 dual processor desktop. With Lightroom loaded I appear to still have about a third of the memory unused.
Lightroom looks all right when I open a catalog, but if I run slideshow, for example, the images come up fuzzy with a "loading" footnote on the screen and very slowly come into full focus.
If I try to adjust a tone curve in Develop, the curve lags behind the mouse or will not move at all. Therefore there is no chance of making a small adjustment. (OOPS, this seems to have cleared up since I shut down for the night and reopened it)
I still have image sharpness problems, though. If I open a new image, the image is sometimes sharp for an instant and then a "loading" box appears and if the loading stops, the image is stairstepped. sometimes the notation "working appears" The notations seem to stay on for an excessive length of time.
Any magnification brings very bad stair-stepping especially of straight lines, but also on a portrait image. these are a variety of file types including jpg and nef raw files.
Thanks for letting me know yours is working. I think some of the cleanup maintenance I did on the system may have helped. Your note encouraged me to keep trying a while longer before restoring Tiger. Thanks.
If you have any thoughts on the image quality issue, I would like to hear it.

  • Does the Panasonic AG-HMC150 AVCHD work well with FCE?

My buying finger is poised over the "send" button so that I can buy a Panasonic AG-AMC150 AVCHD camcorder, but I read a couple of reviews which have given me pause.
One says that FCE does not work well with this camcorder and I need a REaLLY powerful Mac or I am sunk.
Yet another says that working with this 'corder's AVCHD and FCE is a pain in the neck.
A little first hand knowledge would be an enormous help. Thank you.
(PS They did not use the words 'sunk' or 'neck.')

    Sasha, once again, thank you.
No questions, but for the sake of completeness, and to assist those who may read this thread, let me make a couple of comments.
I like this camcorder, because of its features and price, and I am about to buy it. If I were doing event work, such as weddings, I don't think I would. I make family documentaries and scripted movies, so a shoulder mount is not important to me.
I like to buy from Amazon. They sported a low price and I have always had an excellent experience with them. Their supplier is Willoughby's whom I looked up on Sellerratings.com. The reviews I read there led me to decide to buy nothing else from Willoughby's, just the camera, and to examine it carefully when it arrives to make sure that it is in its original sealed packing. I recommend that you check Sellerratings.com before placing an order, too. I trust Amazon, but I am sending off my order with some trepidation. I shall buy a larger battery and some SD cards elsewhere. (The battery that comes withe the camcorder seems to be universally despised.)
Beware of the reviews on the Amazon site. A large number of them, mostly mis-spelled, are, to me anyway, suspiciously rapturous. No camcorder is that good. One reviewer said that the HMC150 changed his life. Really?
The Panasonic site has a wealth of detail about this camcorder.
I found some good and useful info on YouTube, too, particularly one video which showed a videographer using the this camcorder and explaining his set-up procedures step by step.
Much about requirements and compatability can be seen in this thread. Thank you Sasha
OK That is enough. Hope this was of some help.

  • Address book and ical not working for snow leopard clients

We have upgraded our server to mountain lion from snow leopard.
At first glance all appears to have gone well, however, the ical and address book services don't appear to be working for snow leopard clients. These services DO appear to be working for lion clients.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

I am at work right now and don't have access to my Mac. But I need to as if your Dad is on Windows Active Directory network? I also found these directions for Princeton's 2010 Exchange that might help. Did he set up the Address contacts & iCal Calenders were enabled when setting up the account in Mail?

  • Automator app made in Mavericks doesn't work in Snow Leopard

Made a simple troubleshooting app for my staff with some dialog boxes (ask for confirmation) and an app restart (killall and open commands). Saved it as an app and it works fine in Mavericks and Mountain Lion. On Snow Leopard, the app opens with the opening file animation but does nothing. It never even shows up in Activity Monitor.
Did I miss a setting somewhere or is Automator just not backwards compatible like that?

Some workflows will work well going from 10.9 backwards to earlier OS / Automator versions but there are going to be many workflows that don't work without modifications. Part of the issue will be file system arrangement as you suggested.
Another source of problems could be that the behavior of various workflow actions may change from one version of Automator to another. Several of the Address Book / Contacts related actions, for example, no longer work the same way that the did. This was true even before the name of the Address Book was changed to Contacts.

  • M-Audio MIDISPORT UNO USB Not Working With Snow Leopard

My Snow Leopard installation worked fine except until I plugged in my MacBook to my Casio Privia with the M=Audio MIDISPORT UNO USB cable to run GarageBand. I'm getting a MIDI error which states it can't work with the latest operating system. It doesn't surprise me though for all the software and hardware driver updates that have to catch up to such a new OSX 10.6. I went to the M-Audio site to download the latest driver, but the drivers only were compatible with OSX10.5.8.
This is an alert at the site
Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard Support Coming Soon
Avid/M-Audio working closely with Apple to offer support for OS X 10.6
Avid/M-Audio is pleased to hear that Apple has released Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. We’ve been working closely with Apple to bring Snow Leopard support to the M-Audio® product line, as well as the Pro Tools® product line and extended product families. We ask that all existing Mac users please wait to upgrade until we officially announce Snow Leopard support. Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.
This is a bit of a concern, because I need to get GarageBand running again with the MIDI hook ups. Is there a work around anyone knows about to get MIDI working with Snow Leopard.
    Thanks Steve

I ran into a similar problem. I discovered one thing which may help you out though. It works OK with my Yamaha P200 keyboard but it does not work with my Yamaha NP30 keyboard. I looked at the MIDI stream and the only difference seems to be that the NP30 sends a continuous stream of MIDI clock, whereas the P200 does not. My theory is that this clock stream is somehow confusing the driver. I can't seem to disable the MIDI clock on my NP30 but if your Privia has the ability to disable MIDI clock, then it may be worth a try as it will probably fix the problem until they come out with the proper drivers.

  • Malloc zone intercept doesn't work on Snow Leopard

    Hi guys,
I'm facing an issue with the interception of "free" call on Snow Leopard, which perfectly works on Leopard.
Well, the code is very simple. I get a default malloc zone and set my hooks functions, instead of default ones. Inside of my hook functions I call the original ones and a bit of my code to be able to track allocations.
    malloczonet *zone = mallocdefaultzone();
    default_malloc = zone->malloc;
    ..._calloc...
    default_free = zone->free;
    zone->malloc = my_malloc;
    zone->free = my_free;
The problem is that I get all hooks for malloc and company working, but a "free" hook is never called.
It is reproducible on all Snow Leopard machines, but, as I said, it works very well on Leopard.
I tried to debug the issue, but can't find a source code and full debug symbols of libSystem. I therefore don't yet know what the library is doing when "free" is called.
Do you have any idea on it?
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    The issue is solved.
Thanks to my very good friend for the hint.
In zone versions 6 or higher, there is a new member malloczone_free_definitesize, which is called instead of malloczonefree.

  • Does InDesign CS2 work with Snow Leopard

I know, I know, I should be using CS4 but a client insists on sticking with CS2 and files made in newer versions aren't compatible with CS2.
So, can anyone tell me if InDesign CS2 will work with Snow Leopard? It's only InDesign I'm worried about - I have current versions of Photoshop etc.
    Thanks
    Phil

InDesign 4.0.5 is causing me real problems on Snow Leopard, and I'm considering rolling back to Leopard (which worked fine) unless there is a fix to this soon. As well as the disappearing text display problem that others have mentioned, InDesign is very hit and miss when it comes to exporting PDFs - often hanging during the process and then crashing. Error message is posted below. For me, this makes CS2 unusable, but I have a number of ongoing projects that have to remain in this format!

  • CS4 will not work with Snow Leopard

Does anyone know what the problem is? I have been reading on other message boards about CS4 programs crashing. I can't even get mine to open. Does anyone know a fix or something that can help?

Hi, I've got the CS4 Master Collection running at home on a Mac Pro running Snow Leopard.
    Here is my report:
*Adobe Acrobat Pro* - is working perfectly.
*Adobe After Effects* - is working quite well with some lags on closing.
*Adobe Bridge* - WILL NOT OPEN - Use Bridge CS3 if you have it.
*Adobe Contribute* - is working quite well with some lags on closing.
*Adobe Device Central* - Very buggy. - Use Adobe Device Central CS3 if you have it.
*Adobe Dreamweaver* - is working quite well with some lags on closing.
*Adobe Dynamic Link* - NO MAC SUPPORT.
*Adobe Encore* - is working quite well with some lags on closing.
*Adobe Fireworks* - is working quite well with some lags on closing.
*Adobe Flash Professional* - is working quite well with some lags on closing.
*Adobe Illustrator* - is working quite well with some lags on closing.
*Adobe InDesign* - is working quite well with some lags on closing.
*Adobe OnLocation* - is working quite well with some lags on closing.
*Adobe Photoshop* - is working well; however it also has NO 64-bit support! with no future 64-bit support planned. Sorry.
*Adobe Premiere Pro* - is working quite well with some lags on closing.
*Adobe Soundbooth* - is working quite well with some lags on closing.
*Adobe Version Cue* - is working well.
*All Adobe CS3 Application are functioning well.*
My suggestion is use CS3 until these bugs are fixed in CS4.
    These tests were done on:
    Mac Pro (2008)
    2 x 2.8GHz Intel Xeon Quad-Core Processors.
    6GB 800MHz DDR2 ECC FB-DIMM
    1600MHz FSB
    Data Path: 64-bit
    Address Path: 64-bit
    500GB (Startup Disk)
    1TB (Bay 2)
    512MB GeForce 8800GT
Hope fully you may find this information useful, but definitely check Adobe for updates ASAP
    Kind regards,
    Peter.

  • CS3 Licensing for this product has stopped working on Snow Leopard

Ok, I tried all the links, suggested, the solutions that Adobe suggested, emailed them today, see what responce I get, ran the Licensing fixer script, re-installed after using the uninstall and uninstall script, ran through all the suggestions they made, ran the installer disk with all options off, I am at the end of my rope here, nothing seems to be working, is there anyone else that might like to chime in here to see how I can even get CS3 working in Snow Leopard? I did a clean install of the OS and then time machine to add all the apps and docs back in, CS3 is the only app that is not working right now, that and the Qmaster from Compressor, think Apple would have fix that little nugget before releasing! DOH! I do need CS3 to work soon, I hope that maybe the next patch will work!

I had the same exact experience as all of these folks.  I bought Adobe CS3 and installed it on my MAC.  Upgraded my system to Snow leopard 10.6.7 and Adobe stopped working (license error message).  Notably, on my work computer I had the same error appear after uninstalling a couple of components of the application and reinstalling them again....so be aware of that as well.
My first step was to call the Adobe help desk where I was told after about a half hour that my system upgrade to snowleopard 10.6 made my system incompatible with Adobe.  I mentioned to the technician that I was sitting viewing the statement from Adobe in 2009 that these systems were tested to be compatible.  I was hung up on.  I called back and got another technician who told me the same thing and said there was nothing more they could do for my $1000 piece of software.
Anyway, enough ranting...don't go by the Adobe advice and the re-license software doesn't work (or at least it didn't for me).  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times to no avail.  I had to find all of my FLEXnet files and delete them.  This took forever because my finder didn't find them (nor did my spotlight).  I had to look for them and they were in three places (library, utilities, and within some of the individual application folders).  I deleted the entire folders.  I then deleted any file even remotely associated with Adobe. I then reinstalled with all of the applications unclicked. This is important. Then I added Photoshop.  You have to open that first to get the serial number prompt (Acrobat will just crash if you try to open it without loading and opening photoshop first).  Then I loaded Acrobat and that seems to be working.  It only took me 16 hours and my time is actually worth more than the price of the software but oh well, mission accomplished, I hope this helps someone.  What a complete festival of nonsense!

    Hi,
These ports are used by FaceTime and iMessages
    Ports

    iMessage
    80 (TCP)

    443 (TCP)

    3478 through 3497 (UDP)

    5223 (TCP)

    16384 through 16387 (UDP)

    16393 through 16402 (UDP)

    iChat uses Ports:-
iChat 4 and 5 Ports for iChat
    Service
    TCP Ports
    UDP Ports
    iChat over AIM
    5190
    5190
    Bonjour
    5298
    5297, 5298, 5353
    Jabber
    5220, 5222, 5223
    No ports
    A/V Ports
    No ports
    5678, 16393-16402
iChat 6 and Messages beta move from using port 5190 to Login to port 443 (TCP)
Messages Beta will use the iMessages and iChat ports
More than likely it is about how you set up the ports to be open in the router for your computer.
If it was using Port Forwarding they may have been pointed to on IP that the computer does not have now.

  • Cant' play video in i-photo anymore: worked well yesterday

can't play video in i-photo anymore: worked well yesterday

First download and install QuickTime Player 7 for Mac OS X v10.6.3 or later.  Launch iPhoto and try the videos again.  If still no go give this a try:   launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. if it does try the following: try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
or with Mt. Lion from the User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/
    Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE 1: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
NOTE 2:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
Still not playing then apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
