FCE Capture-sample rate error

After capturing Digital8 footage off my Sony DCR-TRV310, I get this error.....
"The audio sample rate of one or more of your captured media files does not match the sample rate on your source tape. This may cause the video and audio of these media files to be out of sync. Make sure the audio sample rate of capture preset matches the sample rate of your tape."
So far, in spot checking the media it seems to be OK, but I'm anal about errors! I couldn't find the audio sample rate for the camera/tape in the sony manual, any ideas? Also were do I select the audio sample rate of capture preset, even if I knew the tapes sample rate? Or is this nothing to worry about
Thanks, Schooner

Hi(Bonjour)!
Usually, camcorders allows to set the audio sample rate to 12 bit (32 kHz) or 16bit (48 kHz).
The audio sample rate for DCR-TRV 310 can be set to 12 or 16 bit. See page 57 in this user manual:
http://www.mediacollege.com/equipment/manual/sony/camera/dcrtrv315.pdf
FCE easy setup allows to select DV-NTSC 32 or 48 kHz for sequence. This settings apply to capture session too. The message you've got means that the audio sample rate on tape doesn't match the sequence audio format.
This problem may give a drift synch between audio and video.
First check the item format for video clip in browser. The audio sample rate should be 32 or 48 kHz. Note it and select the right setup in easy setup dialog. Create a new sequence and insert your video clip.

  • Why am I getting midi conflict/sample rate errors. GarageBand 10 intel mac

Why am I getting midi conflict sample rate errors with no connected midi device?

Ok, I'll answer this myself. It has nothing much to do with midi devices being in conflict with anything. Nothing much to do with midi devices, as such, in fact. What it seems to be is a slow running system, whether it be processor, or hard disk, or whatever. In fact, when I found the cause of the problem, it was easy to solve.
What I saw a few times throughout this episode, was an inacurate sample rate report, which caused Garageband to run and react slowly, causing stuttering and flutter in audio output, so that noises were produced as the program struggled to handle the data streams it was reading and trying to reproduce and output cohesively. All of that was caused, it seems, by my iMac overworking and getting a bit too hot for comfort, having run all day, and multitasking for a good deal of it. I didn't adjust I/O buffering, or take any of the usual 'advised action' I've read from other users.
I simply saved my work and shut down the machine for an hour or two. When I restarted the machine, all had returned to normal. The lesson is, it seems to me, is minimise, or, stop other tasks the machine is carrying out. Safari, in particular, seems to be a major drain on resources, so work without it running. Shut down all unecessary programs and tasks, and run Garageband alone, when working in it. Garageband is a much tamer beast when it's left alone to do what you ask of it. It's quite a sensitive little soul. :-)

  • FCP Stops Capturing and Gives Sample Rate Error

I've just installed FCP 6 and began capturing from MiniDV. After 9:25;23, the capture stops "due to lack of disc space" and then tells me that the audio sample rate for the capture clip doesn't match that of the source.
This is a new install, but the previous install on another machine didn't have that problem.
Help me. My hair is getting thinner from tearing it out.

What are you capturing to? An external drive? Is it formatted macosextended? Are you connecting to it via firewire? Have you run diskwarrior on the drive? Is the audio on the minidv 48k 16 bit or 32k 12 bit? Does the capture preset match this?

  • Geting audio sample rate error, help

Hey all, been doing a massive project where I ma bring in tons of old 8 mm tapes, hi8 and digital 8. This one tape I brought on though however is giving me grief. I keep getting this error:
The audio sample rate of one or more of your captured media files does not match the sample rate on your source tape. This may cause the video and audio of these files to be out of sync. Make sure the audio sample rate of your capture preset matches the sample rate of your tape.
If find this odd though cause the tape should be standard, NTSC dv 48 K. Any suggestions. Also how do I reset my final cut so that when I plug in a camera it always reads it as what it recognizes. I ask this because I had to used the setting uncontrollable device because on the original old 8mm tapes there is no time code so I had to capture that way.
Anyhow, any suggestions on this would be great for if I recapture. Cause I could line it up by eye but want to find the problem so I know for the future. Thank you.

This is a recent problem that seems related to a recent upgrade of QuickTime. Here's why.
In the last month, a rash of these posts have begun to appear:
    "DV Capture Audio problem"
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6708693&#6708693
    "audio/video"
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6591262&#6591262
Plus this thread, plus my own.
In my case, nothing changed in my operating system or Final Cut Pro version. I upgraded to QuickTime 7.1.6, and the problem began. I have upgraded all the way to 7.4 to no avail. When I attempt to import a DV clip using the same Sony DVCAM deck that imported the same clip in December, I get the error every time. Nothing has changed in the tape, the deck, the Project or Final Cut. I am simply unable to import DV video. I can import other kinds (Panasonic P2, for example), but DV is a no go. I cannot get rid of this error.

  • 2 Firepods + LaCie FW800 External HD = Sample Rate Error

I've had my first Mac for only 3 weeks now and have found this board EXTREMELY useful in solving every little problem I've had, even with my lack of Mac & Logic experience, until this one. Thanks in advance for the help.
I'm getting an error while trying to use 2 Firepods w/ my new LaCie D2 Extreme 160gb FW800 external HD. I can record 12 tracks to the internal hd from the pods, but not if the LaCie is connected. When I connect all three I get the message "Error while trying to sync Audio & Midi, Sample Rate 40676 recognized. Check conflict between logic pro and external device." However, I can record from the built-in mic to the LaCie if the Firepods are not connected. Is there some conflict over the firewire ports? All of my sample rates (in AMS and Logic) are set at 24-bit 44.1kHz and I'm using built in audio for system I/O. Longwinded, but does anyone know what is happening here?

I have the newest Powerbook G4; the two firepods are daisy-chained into the FW 400 port and aggregated as one 20 channel device. The LaCie goes directly into the FW800 port. There are also two USB ports for the xskey and wireless mouse. The firmware is updated and I have the Presonus Firepod Control installed as well. Thanks again.

  • Logic X - Weird Sample Rate Error - what Laptop should I upgrade to?

I have a MacBook Pro 13 - Mid 2009 (2.26 Core Duo) with 4GB Ram updated to Maverick to test of Logic X.  I also have a iMac 3.2 Core i3 with 12 GB Ram running as Snow Leopard and Logic 9.  Generally, the iMac doesn't have any issues with projects with lots of plugins; however, the laptop would sometimes choke up on Logic 9 on projects that had lots of third party plugins.  I didn't update the Imac because I didn't want to deal with the loss of 32 bit plugins (update **** as I call it)
After updating to Mavericks and running 32 Lives (to resurrect my lost 32 bit plugins), The laptop now will not play a project that has 6 midi tracks and a single audio bass track.  I get a weird error that the sample rate is 32456 or some arbitrary number.  I updated the Core driver (Line6 Guitarport), but that didn't help.   Sample rate was set to 128 (on Logic 9 it is usually set at 64).  I then tried upped it to 512 and it seems to work OK, but I thought that Logic X was supposed to be less demanding due to running 64 bit?  Any ideas what is up?  I really don't want to run the audio at 512 due to the high latency.
After going back and forth, I'd rather update the iMac to the newest version (a quad i7 with the 3GB Fusion) than a new laptop -  spending $3000 for a laptop just seems plain nuts, especially since I would only use it infrequently (I use my iPad for browsing on the go).
Anyway, what used laptop should I upgrade to that will run Logic X without having to pony up $3000 for a Quad Core i7 with 16 GB rams?  I also need a laptop that I can upgrade the HD to 1TB SSD.
Big thanks.  Love this web site.

The sample rate is not 128 or so, you probably mean the buffer size...
But the performance drop makes sense: switching between a 64 bit process and 32 bit doesn't come free: it cost performance and creates a jitter, which also either shows as performance lost or instability.
You really have to move away from outdated 32 bit AudioUnits, sorry. Ask the vendors to finally release 64 bit versions, it has been several years since 64 bit is available.

  • Unsupported sample rate error?

Randomly soundtrack pro has corrupted itself, I will be working on a project one day, close out open it the next day and when I try to playback I hear lots of chop. I then noticed that none of the sample loops will play, they just cut off after half a second of playing. In the general tab I enabled Alerts- I get the following error *"UNSUPPORTED SAMPLE RATE, The output device cannot support the sample rate of this project. The output will play at a rate of 44.1 KHz. When you export a project mix, it will be exported at the project sample rate."* any clues??

Check the sample rate of your audio hardware.
If you are monitoring through your Mac then look at *Audio Midi Setup.app* found in your Utilities folder, and make sure the audio output samplerate matches your project.

  • Audio Sampling Rate Error?

    Hello,
I am mable to create a .dv of an iMovie in Quicktime, but when I try to export it as a .wmv (something I've done before) I get an error that my file contains different audio sampling rates and then aborts. Any ideas of how/where to fix these rates? (all I am using is audio from original .dv film (16 bit) and a jingle from the sound effects library.) Any help is appreciated!

  • Sample rate error

    Hi everyone!
This is my first massage in this great forum. I'm a beginner in LV so be patient, moreover I apologize for my poor English... Anyway I hope to be clear.
I have to read different signals from different sensors such as pressure sensors and speed sensors. Both of them give to my SCXI module (SCXI-1303) voltage signals. I aquire them with PCI-6220 M series board.
At the beginning I created a task for each signal (using MAX)... They worked properly at the sample rate of 1 KHz only if not running at the same time. I later discovered that more tasks of the same type can't run simultaneously on my board. So I have later created a global channel for each signal and then I have created a new task adding the channel of analog input (voltage type) in it (always using MAX). I chose as sample rate 1KHz as before but now there's an error:
Error -200332 occurred at DAQ Assistant
    Possible
    Reason(s):
Specified sample rate is higher than the fastest rate
    supported by the device.
    Property:

    Corresponding Value: 1.0 e3
    Maximum Value:

Why? Where is my mistake? Please help me.
    Thank you!!

    OK.
    This information certainly helps.
As you can see in appendix A page 1 of the 1100 manual the settling time of the 10KHz filter is around 200 us. A little math leads us to 500Hz which is really close to your value. The problem is that the 1100 module has only one filter shared between channels.
This filter needs a bit of time to settle to the correct value while switching from one channel to the other, clearly if you don’t scan between channel you don’t occur in this problem.
I don’t know anything about your application, maybe you can circumvent the problem running one task at a time and closing and opening each task with a ms delay (Typical software time)
    Kind Regards

  • Cannot export as WMV - Inconsistent Audio Sample Rate error

    Hello,
I am getting an error message when I try to export a sequence using quicktime conversion to a WMV. "Inconsistent Audio Sample Rate - The media you are exporting contains audio with multiple sample rates".
I used Soundtrack Pro for the first time- to analysis and fix an audio file with pops. It worked wonderfully. I don't have much experience with this program and the audio is set to 32-bit stereo with a file ext stp. Not sure how to change this or if I need to.
I have done some tests and I have no problem exporting as a quicktime. I am using the latest version of flip4mac software. Your help is appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Chris

    Hi Susan,
Thanks for your quick reply. The link helped alot.
For others facing this problem, I found this solution.
    1. Export sequence as a Quicktime movie (not conversion) using current settings and make movie self-contained.
    2. Create a new sequence and change the sequence audio setting (under sequence-general) to 44.1 kHz - Dept 16-bit config default
    3. Drag your Quicktime movie into this new sequence.
    4. Export using Quicktime conversion to WMV with these settings for audio.
    5. WMA9 Standard - One pass, CBR at 64kbps, 44.1 khz, Stereo.
    Voila.
I have struggled with flip4mac from the start. Never had any luck using the 2 pass method which 1'm told is better quality. Tech support at the flip4mac discussion group generated much discussion but no solution. I have settled with single pass quality in order to get the job done.
Does any remember the days of linear editing when you delivered a master, protection copy and some VHS dubs and you were done? Oh, I'm showing my age. Ha.Ha.

  • Sample rate error clarification.

I got this message all of a sudden when playing a recorded project on Logic x "

  • Audio capture sample rate

I have read other posts that deal with the issue audio rate that cause the synch with the picture to be off. I recorded this Dv at sp speed and the camera is a pd 150 that had the audio rate set to 32khz. I haved looked in the settings and there is no 32 khz option and you can't make one by copying the generic template. I remember in version four and prior versions that there was the template for 32khz and now its gone, why? How do you get Final Cut Pro 5 to allow 32khz 2 channel sound?

First, it is better to record at 48k for a lot of reasons. However, go to your capture presets, duplicate the appropriate preset and look at the quicktime audio format options. You should be able to change it to 32k. I can.

  • Logic Sputtering, CPU spiking horribly for no apparent reason, gives MIDI sync error even though the computer is set at the same sample rate.

It's literally making it impossible for me to produce anything, after what seems an arbitrary amount of time in Logic my audio will begin to distort and I will get errors stating that my MIDI sample rates don't match, but they DO and it will spit out some seemingly random sample rate from nowhere. My CPU usage will spike and even my cursor will jitter across the screen until it stops stuttering. The audio problem seems to only be caused by Logic but will sometimes continue to occur in other applications after Logic is closed.
How on earth do I fix this? It's making it impossible for me to work on remixes that I have to have finished soon, I have deadlines and I simply can't work in these conditions... the audio doesn't work.

That sample rate error comes up when Logic gets out of sync internally, you will sometimes also see a MIDI/Audio sync error. MIDI timing is taken from the audio driver/sample rate, it's what enables MIDI to stay in sync with audio, when the audio/MIDI engines get out of whack these are the kind of errors that pop up. (there doesn't have to be any MIDI in the song)  Can be caused by bad drivers, interference from another running program, synchronization settings, bad or incompatible plugins!

  • Error message stops .wmv creation: "Inconsistent Audio Sample Rate..."

Just recently when attempting to export a video into the .wmv format, QuickTime Pro 7.2 gives me this alert message, "Inconsistent Audio Sample Rate.
