FCE shuts down at end of capture

I am using a Panasonic DVC-30 digital camcorder. When the tape gets to the end of capture or if I press stop, FCE automatically shuts down instantly. I have recently captured 12 tapes perfectly, but all of a sudden, this has started happening. Any advice?

Try trashing the FCE preferences, repair permissions and re-boot your Mac.

FCE shuts down when I import Live Type

I have imported titles from Live Type into Final Cut Express before and have never had a problem until now. I recently purchased Jaguar and successfully downloaded the software, but since I've done that, when I import a title from Live Type, FCE shuts down. I'm not sure if Jaguar has anything to do with it, but that's when it started happening. Can someone help me out?

HELP Program shuts down when try to capture video

Every time I click on capture the program shuts down. I've used this program many times with no problem but now it won't even reconize my camera. And when I try to capture it shuts down completely. Anyone know what to do?

There is nothing wrong with FCE 2 as a program - it should not be necessary to upgrade it.
Have you tried plugging and unplugging the FireWire cable from both the computer and the camera.
Also see if iMovie will recognise the camera. if it won't you will know the problem is probably not the fault of FCE.
It is also possible that FCE may be corrupted in which case you should re-install it after having first uninstalled it by deleting ALL the files listed in this article:-

After OS upgrade FCP shuts down after pressing log & capture

I recently upgraded from OS 10.3.5 to 10.3.9, since then when I try to log and capture in FCP 4 the program crashes and shuts down. Also it doesn't recognize the fire wire cable connected between deck and computer (it recognizes it in iMovie). In FCP in Audio/Video settings for Video Playback it says "[Missing] Apple Firewire NTSC" In between I installed FCP5 but problem remains. I tried to delete the preference files but it didn't help. Anybody had similar problems and can help? Thanks!

Need help - FCE shutting down automatically

I use Final Cut express on my mac mini and I am trying to capture HD footage. For whatever reason, the second it begins to capture, the program automatically shuts down without an error message or anything to explain why. Would someone please explain this to me? I am trying to edit an important movie and am going crazy with this. Also, I'm not real understanding of computer terminology, so if you could explain this in terms I could understand, I'd much appreciate it. Thanks!

My guess is the OS second the RAM and my final answer would be QT, Regis.
Also, just so you know, if you're trying to capture onto your system HD you're in for a lot of trouble regardless of the format and/or computer used.

I upgraded to FCE on both my Macs. One Mac powerbook G4 works fine in capture and writing to video. The other powerbook will shut the program down unexpectedly without error message. I use the same camera for both computers. Can someone help me figure this out.

External hard drive keeps shutting down while trying to capture footage

I keep losing footage because my lacie hardrive has started dissconnecting itself while i'm in capture mode.
when i try to reconnect it won't allow me to open the project i'm working on.
i have never had a problem with the external drive before, i have checked my settings in FCE and they show the external drive as my scratch disc.
i have recently upgrade to quicktime pro 7....is there a compatibility issue?
anyone have any ideas?

Is it unmounting from the computer? Was it correctly erased and reformatted when you first got it? It sounds as if the drive may be failing, or the cable is bad, or the enclosure has a problem. The bridge chip may be failing, which is not uncommon, though once they're gone they're gone and don't come back without removing the drive form the case.

IPhone shuts down after end of phone call

My new iPhone 3G cuts out/powers off at the termination of any incoming or outgoing call. I have to wait 5-10 seconds to get it to respond again and power up. Has anyone had a similar problem and how did you fix it?

There is a chance that maybe you didn't explain your issue well. The screen does turn off when you bring to your ear when the phone is on a call. This is done with the proxmity sensors.
Now if it won't come back on when you pull away, there is a good chance you are using a case on your phone that is partially blocking the sensors.
Take phone out of case (if in one) and see if problem continues.

Final Cut Express Shuts down right after capturing

Hello all:
I am using FCE 3.5. I have used this for about a year now and I have developed a problem with FCE shutting down right after I hit escape. I run a lab for a university and it is doing it on ALL of them so it isn't an isolated incident. I repair permissions, reset the PRAM, trashed the prefs and I don't know what else to do.
I am running imac G5's using 10.4.11 and the new imacs running leopard. Both sets are doing it.
Any help would be appreciated since our classes start soon.

Can you tie the crashes to a recent event: a software update, a new piece of hardware? What else is connected to the computers?
(You have, of course, triple-checked that the FCE Easy Setup matches the footage you're capturing, yes?)
After the program crashes, is the captured footage saved?
What's the lab setup? Does each student have an individual user account? On each computer?
Lots of questions, I know...
Here's a suggestion:
Use Disk Utility to repair permissions. Create a new admin account on one computer. Set the FCE Scratch Disk to the internal drive. Disconnect everything but the camera. Try to capture. See what happens.

it is looking to me that somewhere still Oracle path is mentioned as of 9i version.
I checked environment variables, Default profile, initSID.sap but not find any issue, checked on google it says check tnsnames.ora, I checked that file but there is no such parameter for Oracle home.
Please suggest to resolve the issue.

Kernel 6.40 is linked against a version 9 client thus forcing sidadm to work with a 9i environment.
brtools 6.40 working as orasid (environment 10g)

I think there was a section in the version 10 upg-guide whichg says to switch brtools to version 7.0, even if you use a 6.40 kernel exactly for this reason. This is, because version 7.0 brtools are hardlinked against the instantclient 10.
So these work even as sidadm with an environment set to a version 9 client.
I can not verify exactly, any more, cause all our 6.40 systems have recently gone to oracle version 11
requireing the switch to the 6.40 EX2 kernel and brtools 7.20.
Try brtools 7.00 on current patchlevel.

Sony sr5 fce4 shuts down when try to transfer

i use log and transfer it plays the clip but when try to add to queue fce shuts down
works fine with imovie08 not fce4
any suggestions help im new to fce4

the only way to get the clips off my camcorder sony sr5 is by using imovie08
and then import them through fce4 the only device connected is my canon s300 printer

Serious Error Shut Down when Burning DVD

When attempting to burn DVD, Premiere Elements 3.0 immediately says there has been a serious error and program must shut down. Video was captured from camcorder, is about 12 minutes, just a couple of scene buttons on scene menu. Using an HP 2.4 ghz quad-core PC with 3 GB ram. I'm using DVD burner in other programs with no problem.

Success---I followed some troubleshooting links and the one that worked was as follows:
4. Re-create the Premiere Elements PluginCache.
The PluginCache is a Windows registry entry that contains information regarding the status of all native and third-party plug-ins used with Premiere Elements. To re-create the file, hold down the Shift key while choosing Start > Programs > Adobe Premiere Elements 7.0. Release the key when the Select Initial Workspace window appears.

Quad: end-of-day: shut down or sleep?

Hello.
Took delivery ten days ago of top-end Quad with 8GB ram and Apple 30-inch display. WHAT a configuration. (Had been working on a 17-inch G4 laptop for 3 years, which had become my desktop machine, in fact. Needn't tell you what a quantum leap in performance that has been. Someone said that the Quad might be the final farewell before Intel macs. If that's the case, what a farewell it has been. Tho' I'm not a hardware expert, it's hard to imagine how they could have done better with these new machines.)
Now... to the point of my post:...
I'm wondering what the conventional wisdom is with regard to shutting down at the end of a day's work.
Do you all leave your machines running overnight? (I seem to recall that, since os x, macs do their own 'overnight' maintenance tasks, but I can't remember where I came upon that info). Am I "stressing" my machine, starting it up/shutting down each day?
