FCE - Slide Show - Vertical Bars

Hello All,
I have been creating digital slide shows with FCE for quite a long time, and then exporting as a qt movie and then creating the final presentation in iDVD.
I think I must have changed a setting as now I am getting two vertical black bars on the left and the right....not sure how to fix this. I would like to get rid of them so I have full wide-screen.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Norm

It seems to me that the photos you are using are not widescreen, and this is why FCE is pillarboxing them in a widescreen canvas. In this case, try changing the sequence setting to something besides 16:9. The thing that gets me though is that you said you have used the same type of photos in widescreen format before, and they weren't pillarboxed. 720x480 is a 3:2 format, and thus if you try using it in a normal 4:3 canvas it might appear squished.
I'll continue looking into the problem, and hopefully someone else will have some ideas to weigh in as well. If worst comes to worst, you can always scale them up to fill the canvas.

  • Slide Show Navigation bar

When you create a pdf slide show with Adobes Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0, each slide contains a full navigation bar in the upper right.
When you create a pdf slide show with Photoshop Elements 5.0, you get only < > and an escape arrow in the lower left.
How can you get the full navigation bar using Photoshop Elements?

I doubt there is a video for anything this basic, but you can try searching.  I recommend practicing in a copy of the file you intend to place them in so that you don't lose that file due to a learning curve.
If you open the fla's of your navbar, etc, you want copy the timeline.  So you select all the layers and frames of the main timeline, right click the selection and choose Copy Frames.  Then, in the destination file you should create a new movieclip symbol.  Select the first frame of the new symbol, right click and select Paste Frames.  All of the layers and frames that you copied should appear in the timeline.
If you happen to have library symbols with the same names in the different files you'll be combining, that could cause a problem as it will prompt you as to whether you want to replace one with the other.  So it is best to rename any such symbols before copying them.

  • Creating a slide show

I have created an album in iPhoto with the pictures I want to put into a slide show. I then clicked on the "plus" sign and chose to create a new slide show. The pictures all showed up in the slide show display bar across the top, but when I preview or play the slide show, some of the slides don't show-they are simply black. I can't figure out what is different about those that don't show that causes them to not show. All pictures were scanned into my computer and then put into iPhoto (they were pix of my students when they were preschoolers), so it seems to me they should all show up or all not show up. I will appreciate any help you can give me.

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose the last three options.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    Regards

My i phone stopped working . There are vertical bars on the screen . I can't do anything with it and it isn't even possible to shut it down

    Hi christinehedden,
If you are having an issue with your iPhone being unresponsive and showing vertical bars on the display, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
Get help with the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    Specifically -
If you see lines, missing sections, discoloration, or poor image quality
Try to restart your device. If you can't restart, reset your device.
If restarting or resetting doesn’t fix the issue, restore your device.
If you still see the issue after you restore, contact Apple Support.

  • Vertical Bars in 1080p video (PP CS4)

I recently shot some footage on a newer camcorder capable of recording 1080p footage, and the footage recorded as MP4.  When I import directly into PP CS4, I choose the 'AVCHD 1080p30' present.  The video imports as it should into the project, and displays as it should in the Source Monitor, but when I move the footage to the timeline, the Program Monitor's output shows vertical bars around the footage.  I should also note that I've only used the AVCHD preset because I'm not 100% how to simply start a new timeline that's 'just 1080p30.'
The Timeline's resolution and source video's resolution are both 1080p.
When I export the final video, I still see the vertical bars.
    Any insights?

Ann, I had a look into your suggestion, and no such option exists in my Mac system preferences.
As a side thought, I imported some regular (non-HD) footage into Premiere, and matched up the settings, and I don't have this problem.

  • Problem with jquery slide show conflict with vertical navigation menu in Firefox & Chrome

Problem with jquery slide show conflict with vertical navigation menu in Firefox & Chrome. Works in IE. This is my first time trying to post a question - so please be kind. I am also not good with code and am finding css a real challenge after learning to design based on tables. I'm using CS5.
The "test" page with the slide show is: http://www.reardanwa.com/index-slides.html   The same page without the slide show is http://www.reardanwa.com/
I realize the images are not ideally sized - I'll fix those once I get the pages to function.  Maybe I need a different slide show? I would prefer a widget that I can modify to required size & postition. Again - I'm not good at building with code from scratch.
The problem is the naviagation links that are directly next to the slide show do not work in Firefox of Chrome. They do work in IE.
I've read about using jQuery.noConflict(); code but can't figure out the correct way to use it in my case or whether that's even part of the solution. I know my code is not well organized as I have cobbled together from various sources in an attempt to format the page the way the client wants it. Also, FYI, I will eventually try to make the page work in Surreal CMS.
I've spent sevaral days over the last several weeks trying to solve sth slide show/navigation conflict - so any specific light you can shed will be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately not. Lion has made many adjustments to the previous system. Try opening your pdfs in keynote.

  • Stacked bar chart to show vertically

I want to show stacked bar chart vertically.
    Requirement is
    Mat1 - WIP Qty 14, Inv 20, Finished 22
    Mat2 - WIP Qty 16, Inv 10, Finished 18
We want to display chart where Material will be displayed on Y-axis and diffrent Qty will be shown as one bar for each material stacked like stacked bar starting from left to right.
We did this using stacked bar but in that case the material will be displayed on X-axis and bar is showing from bottom to top. Is there any way we can rotate this chart by 90 degree?
    Nilesh Modi

    Hi Nilesh,
I do not believe that there is an out-of-the-box feature that would suffice your needs.
However, the work-around is relatively simple, although it needs a bit of coding.
If you are sourcing the image directly, the image could be refreshed using Javascript settimeout function.  If you are sourcing the location of the image from an iCommand, you could use the update event of the applet.
Besides ... if everything was too easy, there would be no need for you and I
    Cheers,
    Jai.

  • Slide Show on Home Page Creates Scroll bar in browser...

I have created my site, and at the tope of it I have a hero Slider Composition with text in it. But, when I view it in the browser, it scrolls to the right. But, if I delete the composition slide show, the scroll bar disappears. I've tried to re-create the slide show, but it continues to do the same thing, I would really appreciate some help quick, in that my site is live. http://www.serpentsndoves.com

Firstly: Congrats on a very cool web design!!
I had a look at the site, and think that what you are seeing is expected behaviour. You have little control over the width of the browser window a viewer might have set when they are viewing your web page. It can be narrower or wider than the page width you set in Muse:
When the browser window is narrower than the width of the web page, the scrollbar at the bottom for right to left movement appears.
When you make the browser window wider than the width of the web page, the scrollbar will disappear as the full width of the page is displayed.

I have 15000 photos in my 1Phooto library in 58 events. I have also made 27 slide shows from some of these events. When opening iPhoto, the photoscome up slmost instantly but the side bar seems to take forever to come up.  Is there s limit to the amount of photos yu can have or to the amount if items in the side bar?

Try this basic troubleshooting technique:  make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
    3 - reboot
4 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • Control Bar in Slide Show

    7.1.3
Is there a way to get rid of the control bar which pops up anytime you move the mouse during the slide show? I am putting together an audio visual presentation with two laptops and a bunch of other stuff.
(video/audio mixer, stage lighting etc.) With a split screen I can run iPhoto/iMovie from either laptop on the "big" screen while controlling the sound from the laptop through the small screen....
Problem is, while the audience is watching the big screen, and I touch the mouse, the control bar shows up at the bottom of their screen......no good....
    Thanks.

You're rather far beyond the intended uses of iPhoto there my friend. No there's no way to stop that menu appearing. You might be best to consider using a different application or export the slideshow as a Quicktime Movie. Alternative apps which might help are PhotoToMovie or PhotoPresenter, both of which integrate with iPhoto.

  • Vertical photos distorted in slide show

I have 'scale photos to screen' turned off during slide show. Still, some vertical photos in my slide show, but not all, appear distorted as if they were horizontal; i.e. the horizontal dimension is stretched. When I preview the same photo, it 'reloads' and then, when I continue the slide show with that photo, it appears with the correct vertical/horizontal ratio and looks right. The photos had been rotated to be upright after import. - Anyone have any idea what's going on? I can't for the life of me figure out what causes this. I have to go through all my vertical photos and preview them, one by one, before running the slide show to avoid that some vertical slides appear distorted.

No, video for viewing on TV is interlaced... it is shot with two fields, each shot at slightly different times, the two interlaced fields make up a frame. It is the time difference between when each frame was shot that gives the "jaggy" lines. A TV knows how to handle these fields whereas a computer monitor does not.

  • Slide Shows With iPhoto And FCE

I have made slideshows with both these programs and of course iPhoto gives stunning quality.
However, as far as I can see, the iPhoto slideshow can only be played via a computer - which can be a problem when you visit somebody and your computer is a back-breaking eMac!
Is there any easy way of importing such a slideshow (complete with effects etc.) into FCE or iDVD?
I am fairly sure that the brilliant sharpness etc. will drop to standard DV/DVD quality if that is done?
    Ian.

    Hi Ian,
iDVD will do this. Basically you create an album in iPhoto, then open iDVD and import the album (Media pane > Photos, then drag the album to the DVD menu). You can change the sequence, add, delete images, change buttons, etc. (I think you can only apply one transition type, though, for the entire slide show.) You can also add an audio track and have iDVD adjust the slideshow timing to automatically fit the length of the audio.
I suppose you would have to call it DV/DVD quality however I've done this and the results look great, at least for the intended audiences/purposes.
With regard to varying the effects/transitions between slides, we had to use iMovie or FCE to do that.

  • Creating slide shows in FCE

I am attempting to create a slide show in FCE. The intended final product is a slide show from digital stills, with titles, transitions, and a musical soundtrack. I can't figure out how to set a default duration for the imported digital images. There will be a couple of hundred images, and I would prefer not to have to adjust each slide individually, but the 6" default duration is really a bit short. Surely there is some way to change that.

Select User Preferences and click the Editing tab.
You can then alter the 6 second default.
Also you will probably find that some of your slides will jitter/shimmer unpleasantly when viewed on a TV.
To avoid this, connect a TV to your computer while you are editing and if you notice any dodgy slides you can immediately apply the Deinterlace Filter to cure them.
    Ian.

  • Adobe Acrobat Professional X - shows blank dialog boxes with vertical bars

The file and print screen and the file and properties screen both show mainly blank screens with vertical bars only on them, no text at all.
Looking around the forum I found it may be a font problem.  Is there a way to know which font or if that is actually the problem and how do you resolve that?
This is on a Windows 7 - 64bit system with Adobe Acrobat Professional X (10.1.12) installed.
    Thank you.

    Hi brian!
Please see Re: Blank dialog boxes in Acrobat X Pro
Let us know if that does the trick!
