FCE4 and OSX 10.5 not working?

Every time I try to log and transfer from my HG10, FCE4 crashes. I see that others have this working with 10.4 so I assume it's just another case of OSX 10.5 not working properly or are others having no problems?

Thanks Tom, I appreciate your trying to help but I'm a computer professional and I know that having a Windows server on the same network as my Mac is not going to cause a transcoder process to crash: I've used windows network drives for FCP scratch disks for many years with no problems. In this instance, I am trying the network drive as an alternative to the 'native' method as that's not working for me (i.e. log and transfer from the Canon HG10 HDD).
The system crashes about 2 seconds after placing the clip in the queue in the log and transfer window, which implies it's the transcoder process that's failing (it's a SIGSEGV always pointing to the same address which means a bad pointer in the code but this may be that it's making bad assumptions about the version of a library it's loaded).
I believe that preference files can become corrupt and cause badly written code to crash but I've deleted the ones highlighted in the previous post with no success - are there others I should be looking to delete? Is the transcode process actually QT or FCE itself?

Mine hasn't panicked but it has locked up a couple of times and applications crash randomly (although a lot less on 10.5.1 than 10.5). ]]
This is really frustrating as I investigated which camera and software to buy very carefully and I see that Apple even recommends the camera I bought (canon HG10) on it's online store when you select to buy FCE4 so it clearly should be working.

Postscript fonts and OSX 10.6 not working ..?

I've just helped a friend upgrade their new mac book pro to OSX 10.6 snow leopard, and found that a lot of fonts are now not working? (I use an imac running 10.5.8 which runs them all fine)
Some fonts I have managed to fix by just adding .otf or .ttf according to font maker, (open type etc) which seems to work ok... but I am having a nightmare with many others like postscript ones.
Can any one suggest what to do to fix this, as I dread upgrading to OSX 10.6 if it means we lose fonts! I'm not sure what apple are up to, but they seem to have overloked the problems casued by their in-build helvetica neue family as well as this ps fonts issue.

First question would be, what are you using for a font manager? For the type of work you do, Font Book should be just about your last choice. Suitcase Fusion 3 or FontExplorer X Pro are the ones I recommend.
If you already are using Suitcase or FEX Pro, then get Font Book off your Mac. Having more than one font manager on any system is a sure way to make controlling fonts difficult.
1) Open Font Book, and then its preferences. Uncheck the box for "Alert me if system fonts change". Close the preferences and shut down Font Book. Put the Font Book application in the trash and delete it.
2) Restart your Mac and immediately hold down the Shift key when you hear the startup chime to boot into Safe Mode. Keep holding it until OS X asks you to log in (you will get this screen on a Safe Mode boot even if your Mac is set to automatically log in). Let the Mac finish booting to the desktop and then restart normally.
This will reset Font Book's database and clear the cache files in your user account. Any font sets you have created will be gone. Also, all fonts in the three main Fonts folders (System, Library, your user account) will now be active, regardless of their state beforehand.
The main goal in this step is to remove the orphaned Font Book database from the hard drive. With the Font Book application no longer on the hard drive, a new one cannot be created. Which is what we want.
3) Close all running applications. From an administrator account, open the Terminal app and enter the following command. You can also copy/paste it from here into the Terminal window:
sudo atsutil databases -remove
This removes all font cache files. Both for the system and all user font cache files. After running the command, close Terminal and immediately restart your Mac.

That comes back to font cache data that no longer relates to a font still on the drive. Clearing all font cache data after manually removing any fonts is pretty much a must. As is resetting Font Book's database by doing a Safe Mode boot.
Ever since I did that, InDesign CS4 is NOT seeing any T1 fonts. Before, it was only a Helvetica Neue T1 issue.
I'd say something on the system is goofed up. When I first installed Snow Leopard to an erased partition, all fonts worked. I did my usual of removing Font Book and getting the fonts on the drive down to the minimum. I then started installing all of my third party apps. Somewhere in there, fonts simply stopped working. The only fix was to reinstall OS X and reapply the Combo updater, along with whatever else Software Update said was needed. Voila, fonts worked again as expected. Just had to remove Font Book and all the fonts I didn't want on the drive again.
It's a bit of a pain to do, but that's why I went right to "reinstall the OS" above.

TS3048 Right click on Mighty Mouse and Wireless Keyboard are not working

I have a 24" iMac, early 2009 Lion,10.7.5. My wireless keyboard and mighty mouse are not working properly. Wireless keyboard- I can turn it on and it will ask me to pair it with the Blue Tooth. I cannot log the numbers in - I even tried logging them in with my wired keyboard device (which is an Apple keyboard).
My Mighty Mouse's right click stopped working as well.
I have gone through all of the troubleshooting steps-
New Batteries - Cleared Blue tooth preferences list, repaired permissions, Cleared cache, Made sure that the settings were correct ex: key was not checked on mouse, Removed both devises (keyboard, and mouse) from blue tooth and allowed them to be discovered again, PRAM reset, Hardware check/ reset, and lastly, Reinstall of OSX.
I am still having the same issue with both devices.

This is why you should always have a wired keyboard and mouse as backups.
Try smc and hope for the best.
I'd also suggest pram reset but you need the keyboard for that.

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

- After charging for 1/2 hour or so, does iTunes see the iPod? If yes, restore the iPod from backup.

my Apple TV (HDMI) and computers 2 on HDMI, 1 on PC, display just fine n the TV but after a while the TV goes blank,
the time is not consistent sometime a few minutes, sometimes a few hours,
but every time, after the TV goes blank there is nothing I can do, the TV just stays blank, if I unplug and turn back on the TV displays the image for a split second and goes bank again,
I thought it might be an overheating thing, however sometimes the PC input will stop working but the HDMI input (either one) will work fine,
has anyone else had this issue?

I'm having the same issue. As soon as I connect it to VGA or HDMI, it goes into a cycle of flashing on-and-off. A guy on youtube had the same problem (posted a video identical to my problem) and reportedly fixed it with a firmware update.
The problem: the US website doesn't have a firmware download. The canadian website does, but the update is from 4/2009, and the manufactured date on the back of my TV is 5/2009. (I also tried the update, but it didn't fix the problem).
When I call Toshiba to ask about the firmware update, after they confirm I am out of warranty, their automated system keeps hanging up on me. So frustrating.

You must enable iTunes Match on the new computer. The best way to accomplish what you want to do is to create a new, empty library by launching iTunes while holding down the Option key (Shift on Windows) and choosing "new library." Hello and thank you for posting back. What it sounds like is the cable that connects to the screen from the motherboard has either come loose or has a issue after the fall.
To fix this it would have to be opened up and the connections checked. If there is an issue with the cable then it would have to be replaced. This will require either you opening up the system yourself and checking the connections and tha cable or sending it in for repair.

Have you tried a soft-reset to see if that fixes it ? You might be able to get warranty service in Egypt for your iPad, but the warranty includes :
IMPORTANT RESTRICTION FOR iPHONE AND iPAD SERVICE.
Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone and iPad to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device.
As it's wifi-only you should have a better chance of it being serviced under warranty, but there are no guarantees, it might depend upon the repairer.

With version 5 of Firefox, if I open more than 1 session, most of the time I cannot see anything in the navigation bar and my back and forward buttons do not work.

I open 1 session of Firefox 5.0.1 and everything seems to work fine. Then I open a second session of Firefox and most of the time the navigation bar does not show the page that I am on and the back and forward buttons do not work. When this happens, the first session always remains working. I am an internet marketer so I have at least 2 or 3 sessions going at any given time.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

We just need a little more information." The continue button does not work. I've seen this problem before trying to file support requests. It's as if Apple simply does not want you to create requests.

Try removing the Genius database. In the "Finder" go to the /username/Music/iTunes/ folder and delete the "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file. This may allow the program to launch again. This file will be recreated upon first use of the "Genius" feature.
