FCid Persistent

Hi.
I work with a MDS9513 version 5.0(1a), and Fabric Manager version 4.1(1b), HDS USPV and hosts Dell R900 with Red Hat Enterprise 5.
A few days ago, a HBA connected in a port was replaced by another HBA(Other host) and the first HBA continued in map's Traffic Manager in the same port with the new one.
In switch, by CLI, I discovered the old HBA's wwn and fcid continues in the vsan, I deleted wwn the vsan, but in the map I have to go in the option vsan's domain and deleted too. Hard work. Then, I resolved no use fcid persistent: no fcdomain fcid persistent vsan X.
My question, Is it correct? Is it a good practice? Can I use the same for vsan 1?
Thks,
Paulo Maurício

Ok Brian, but I still don't understanding why to enable fcid pesistent. I only have hosts (Solaris, WIndows and Red Hat) and storage Hitachi connected. Do you think in the future I am going have problems? Is so important hosts and ports in storage have always the same fcid? In Fabric Manager, I had a problem when I changed the host connected in a interface, the both wwn, older and new, appeared on the map.
Thks for your intersting and help.

  • Configuring Persistent FC IDs for IVR

    Has anybody configured this for  IVR ? I use persistent FC IDs for my regular VSANs because i have a  couple of AIX boxes. I will also have a couple of them access storage  via IVR, dynamic tracking is not enabled on the host so i am wondering  if i should enabled persistent fc id for IVR ?
    Thanks

    Sure
    Assuming a single MDS using vsan 1 and vsan 2, both vsans using domain ID 0x12.
    HBA is pwwn1, Storage is pwwn2
    config term
    This is to export the storage array that resides in vsan 2, into vsan 1 as fcid 0xaa3344
    ivr fcdomain database autonomous-fabric-num 1 vsan 1
    native-autonomous-fabric-num 1 native-vsan 2 domain 0xAA
      pwwn pwwn2 fcid 0xAA3344
    This is to export the hba that resides in vsan 1, into vsan 2 as fcid 0x232323
    ivr fcdomain database autonomous-fabric-num 1 vsan 2
    native-autonomous-fabric-num  1 native-vsan 1 domain 0x23
      pwwn pwwn1 fcid 0x232323
    If there are multiple MDS in the IVR topology, these entries would need to be included in each of the IVR enabled MDS.
    You can use CFS to form peers amongst the IVR enabled switches and then use the 'ivr commit' to propagate the config command to the other MDS.
    In this example, domain ID 0x23 can not already exist in vsan 2, nor can any switch join vsan 2 using domain ID 0x23.  The same is true for vsan 1 and domain 0xAA.
    Lastly, this example does reflect overlapping vsan IDs.  That is why both vsan 1 and 2 are in autonomous-fabric (AFID).  Had there been multiple MDS, and overlapping VSAN numbers (IDs), then to use IVR, those overlapping VSANs must be configured in different AFIDs.  Basically you can have a device in vsan 1, domain ID 0x12 and using IVR NAT have it zoned with another device, in another MDS, in vsan 1, using domain ID 0x12, as long as the vsans are in different AFIDs.
    The intent is not to design SANs this way, but if you have case where 2 existing SANs need to have some devices communicate, and neither SAN can change the existing vsan numbers and domain IDs, there is a way to connect the 2 devices and let them remain in the same vsan keeping the same FCID.
    I would always recommend putting these static entries in place, before creating and activating the IVR zoneset.  I would not recommend adding in the static entries (unless they matched what was currently in use) , as I am not sure if the MDS would log out the devices to enforce the new static mappings.  It may only use the database when the zoneset is activated, or it could put it into effect immediately.

  • Maintaining Same FCID with a port vsan change

    I recently went through a VSAN consolidation where i took 2 VSANs and combined them into a new VSAN.  The problem i have run into is that even after making sure that the domain id's of the source and destination VSANs were the same, the fcid's of the individual ports that were in the source VSAN changed when i moved them into the new VSAN.  For HP-UX systems, this is a huge issue because HP-UX uses the fcid of the storage port to generate it's HW addresses for disks.  With the fcid of the storage ports changing, this caused all of the HP-UX systems to reconfigure thier HW addresses and ended up causing some systems to crash.
    To make it worse, when i try to go into domain manager in device manager to change the fcid back to what it was, the switch has already reassigned the original fcid to something else.  And even when i find one that hasn't been, and i try to change it, it complains about a duplicate WWN.  there are no duplicate WWN's.... :-(
    Question1:
    Is it possible to maintain the same FCID when changing the vsan assignment of a port?
    Question2: I noticed that persistant fcids is enabled for both domains.  do i simply need to disable that in order to change the fcid back to what it was?
    Thanks!
    Bob

    Bob
    I've not done this in a while so going from meory here....
    Q1:  Yes it is as long as the domin ID is the same (which it looks like you've done).  I think you need to remove the device from the SAN before you can delete the FCID.  Also, I think you need to add the new FCID before you reconnect it.
    Q2: You want persistant ID's on, without that a switch restart will mean all new FCID's all over again.
    Having said all of that, I've migrated HP-UX boxes (and older AIX boxes without port tracking enabled) and not had to maintain the FCID.  I assume you have/had 2 fabrics and the HP boxes are dual attached?  IF thats the case, and you have working multipathing, then whilst you do have to do some remedial work on the boxes, you will not have system crashes / loss of access to data.

    Hi Danny,
    Per my understanding that you can't get the expect result by using the expression "=Count(Fields!TICKET_STATUS.Value=4) " to count the the TICKET_STATUS which value is 4, the result will returns the count of all the TICKET_STATUS values(206)
    but not 180, right?
    I have tested on my local environment and can reproduce the issue, the issue caused by you are using the count() function in the incorrect way, please modify the expression as below and have a test:
    =COUNT(IIF(Fields!TICKET_STATUS.Value=4 ,1,Nothing))
    or
    =SUM(IIF(Fields!TICKET_STATUS=4,1,0))
    If you still have any problem, please feel free to ask.

    Hi Tracy,
    Have you changed something on your SharePoint 2007 environment recently before this issue occurred?
    This issue may be related to Alternate Access Mappings settings like the following similar post, if you have configured AAM, you can check if this issue happened to some URLs, if it's the case, please add the problematic URLs as a Publish URLs for the default
    zone for your web application, and also add these URLs as trusted locations, then check results again.
    If above doesn't work, please enable ULS log on verbose level to get more useful log errors which time are corresponding to the errors occur.

  • How to populate/persist right-side of Shuttle in apex 3.1.2 after submit

    In the new Shuttle I can only specify one LOV (select empname, empid from emp where empid not in (1,3,4)) but I also want to populate the right-side of the shuttle to show values which the non-members (select empname, empid from emp where empid in (2,5)) so that the user can make selections which persist after submit.

    Rashid,
    The method that worked for me was to:
    1) Create the LOV to populate the Left side of the shuttle (unselected).
    2) Define the Source property to populate the Right side (selected). In my case, I used a PL/SQL Function Body type, but any would work.
    I set the Source Used to Always, so that my user always started with the same default selection, but if you set it to "Only set when session value is null", that should do what you're asking for.
    Good luck (and thanks for the points by marking my answer helpful or correct),

  • Persistent Store Problems for MYSQL Enhanced Cluster With OpenMQ 4.4

    I am trying to implement an enhanced cluster with failover. I have edited the config files for each broker instance for a persistent store. I have appended the following to each of the config.properties files:
    imq.brokerid=myclusterinstanceINSTANCE1 # I substitute INSTANCE2 for INSTANCE1 for broker #2
    imq.persist.store=jdbc
    imq.persist.jdbc.dbVendor=mysql
    imq.persist.jdbc.mysql.property.url=jdbc:mysql://xxx.xxx.xxx.xx:3306/test
    imq.persist.jdbc.mysql.user=user1
    imq.persist.jdbc.mysql.needpassword=true

    imq.cluster.clusterid=mycluster
    imq.cluster.brokerlist=xxx.xxx.xxx.x:37676,yyy.yyy.yyy.y:37676

    Just some pointers -- maybe this will be of use:
    If you haven't already read it, please take a look at the [ MySQL setup guide|https://mq.dev.java.net/OpenMQ_MySQLCluster_Setup_Guide.html] .
    We recommend using NDB Data-store of MySQL Cluster, though this isn't an absolute requirement. Due to some issues we have found with earlier versions, we recommend using MySQL Cluster, 7.0.9 or better (the current version is 7.0.16, or 7.1.5). Either of these would contain Connector/J.
    I'd also recommend using the latest version -- MQ 4.4update2 (just in case you happen to have an older copy). There were many minor improvements in the integration with MySQL from the original 4.4 release, to update 2. This is linked at the MQ download page: [https://mq.dev.java.net/downloads.html]

    Hello,
    I have three Hyper-V 2012 (not R2) nodes and I'm experiencing similar issues.
    I get iscsiprt error suddenly after a storage migration of a big VM ends: I launch the storage migration, it starts correctly and, more or less 60 seconds after it ends, iscsiprt errors appears in the event log of the node. I lose iSCSI connectivity with
    the iSCSI target on the storage were the VM was on before migration. The storage migrated VM works because is already moved to the "new" storage but obviously all the CSV on the "old" storage become inaccessible, I can see them offline
    or online (no access) so all the VMs that are on the old storage goes offline.
    I noticed that it didn't happen eveytime I storage migrate a VM, but only sometimes and with big VMs.
    I tried both with MPIO and with MCS since our storage supports both of them. I tuned some iSCSI parameters on the initiator. I leave a list of parameters I tried to tune at the end of this message.
    The only thing I didn't do already is: disable RSS, disable TCP autotuninglevel and disable delayed ACK.
    Someone can help me to understand what is causing these problems? What is AV you are referring to?
    This is the parameters I tuned in order to increase timeouts but right now I didn't yet solved the problem:
    HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\mpio\Parameters
    UseCustomPathRecoveryInterval 0 -> 1
    PDORemovePeriod 20 -> 120
    PathRecoveryInterval 40 -> 40
    HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E97B-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\<Instance Number>\Parameters
    EnableNOPOut 0 -> 1
    MaxRequestHoldTime 60 -> 90
    LinkDownTime 15 -> 35
    Thanks in Advance,

  • Why is my JavaServiceFacade persist() method is receiving NULL object

    My jDeveloper version is 11.1.1.3.0
    I have a jspx in which i want to save an employee into my DB on the click of submit button.
    I have made an entity object(Employee.java) made from a table EMPLOYEE. I then exposed this entity bean using a JavaServiceFacade. This JavaServiceFacade class has a method with signature persistEmployee(Employee employee).
    In my UI, i have made made a Submit button by dragging the persistEmployee() method from my DataControls pallette to my jspx, and the actionListener binding for this is ="#{bindings.persistEmployees.execute}".
    Now when i click on the submit button, the persistEmployee() method throws an exception which is below...
    ______ java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Object: null is not a known entity type_______
    I found that the persistEmployee() method is not receiving an Employee object as an argument due to which this error is thrown.
    Can somebody pls guide me on what could be the issue.
    BELOW ISTHE CODE WHICH I HAVE USED.
    .......button code in my jsp.......
    <af:commandButton text="Submit"
    binding="#{backing_LdapUserCreation.cb5}"
    id="cb5"
    actionListener="#{bindings.persistEmployees.execute}"
    disabled="#{!bindings.persistEmployees.enabled}"/>
    .......method code which got generated in teh javaservicefacade..(here the employee argument received by the first line is NULL).....
    public Employees persistEmployees(Employees employees) {
    System.out.println("IS employees NULL ? = "+employees);
    return (Employees)_persistEntity(employees);
    .......binding code in my pagedefinition.........
    <methodAction id="persistEmployees" RequiresUpdateModel="true"
    Action="invokeMethod" MethodName="persistEmployees"
    IsViewObjectMethod="false" DataControl="EmployeeService"
    InstanceName="EmployeeService.dataProvider"
    ReturnName="EmployeeService.methodResults.persistEmployees_EmployeeService_dataProvider_persistEmployees_result">
    <NamedData NDName="employees" NDType="model.test.Employees" />
    </methodAction>

    Hi,
    when you dragged the persist method from the DataControls panel, a dialog opens that in its lower area shows the argument that the method expects. This argument needs to be pointed to <iterator name> | currentRow | data provider. To do this, click into the method argument value field and click the button on its right to bring up the EL editor. Then expand the iterator node under the Bindings node. Expand currentRow and select dataProvider.
    You can do this after creating the method binding as well. Select the PageDef file in the Application Navigator and open the Structure Window. Expand the persist method: it shoudl have a child element. Select the child item and in the Property Inspector set its NDValue property

  • Issues in persisting dynamic entity and view objects using MDS

    Hi All,
    I'm trying to create dynamic entity and view objects per user session and to persist these objects throughout the session, I'm trying to use MDS configurations(either file or Database) in adf-config.xml.
    I'm facing following two errors while trying to run the app module:
    1. MDS error (MetadataNotFoundException): MDS-00013: no metadata found for metadata object "/model/DynamicEntityGenModuleOperations.xml"
    2. oracle.mds.exception.ReadOnlyStoreException: MDS-01273: The operation on the resource /sessiondef/dynamic/DynamicDeptEntityDef.xml failed because source metadata store mapped to the namespace / DEFAULT is read only.
    I've gone through the following links which talks about the cause of the issue, but still can't figure out the issue in the code or the config file. Please help if, someone has faced a similar issue.

    Hi Frank,
    I m trying to save entity and view object xml by calling writeXMLContents() and saveXMLContents() so that these objects can be retrieved using the xmls later on.
    These methods internally use MDS configuration in adf-config.xml, which is creating the issue.
    Please share your thoughts on resolving this or if, there is any other way of creating dynamic entity/view objects for db tables created at runtime.

  • Issues with sessionId and persistent cookie in WL6.1

              I am using WL6.1 and I discovered the following from a brief experiment using a
              JSP which sets persistent cookies. The results are the same when I use IE browser
              or the HDML emulator.
              The name of the weblogic session cookie (weblogic.xml) is "_ses".
              Steps below. The server logs are included:
              1. Delete the persistent cookies relevant to the server.
              2. Access the jsp. SessionId is generated, say 12345.
              3. Close browser. My_Cookie1=blah is saved on client.
              4. Access server again. The cookie My_Cookie1=blah sent
              5. The server sets the SessionId to Cookie1=blah. The sessionId is set from the
              persistent cookie. Also, the String after the first underscore is the sessionId.
              When I change the name of the weblogic session cookie (weblogic.xml) to something
              without an underscore, such as "JSESSIONID" or "someCookieName", and repeat the
              steps, the sessionId is not attempted to be read from the persistent cookie.
              Why is this so?
              Thanks,
              Niranjan

    Issue 1 is a know "feature" with Macs using an optical output.
    Issue 2 is still unresolved. Why can't Front Row act as a video jukebox just as well as it can for audio.
    Issue 3 is still unresolved. If I select a libray that has both audio and video files, Front Row will only play the audio and not the video. Seems like it should be smart enough to "switch" to play that video.
    Issue 4 seems to be resolved. I run visualizer all the time now and my TV does not switch out of 1080i any more.
    Issue 5 seems to be resolved. I think the trick is that the TV show name has to be filled in for the system to recognize it as a TV show. Guess Apple didn't orginally figure people would add TV shows not purchsed through the iTunes store.
    Issue 6 was realted to using files that are copy protected. But why iTunes XML file can't just keep the name that I want in it's directory rather than the name that is embedded in the file is still a mystery to me.

  • When I publish my site on one specific page where i've added {tag_pagecontent} I get the error:Some files on the server may be missing or incorrect. Clear browser cache and try again. If the problem persists please contact website author.

    When I publish my site on one specific page where I've added {tag_pagecontent} I get the error:
    'Some files on the server may be missing or incorrect. Clear browser cache and try again. If the problem persists please contact website author.'
    I'm trying to get a blog module going, I've even deleted the html insert bog with the tag in and re-published which then I don't get the error but as a result no blog either. But then I add the tag in again and publish the error comes back. I've used the dev console and it says that my musicians sample.css is out of date but why is it only out of date when I add in html to my muse site?
    HELP!!!! I've searched other threads and to no avail I'm publishing so no direct ftp going on. the only thing I changed in business catalyst was the module stylesheet in order to style the blog. I've tried uploading and replacing all files nothing seems to work. the site is here:
    http://www.musicstudentsforhire.co.uk/musicians-samples.html
    It's only this page as it has the blog on. Also I've noticed when I've re-published occasionally it will show the mobile version on my desktop and not the desktop version??? no idea why that's happening so I've had to turn that off. any explanation on why that is happening would also be much appreciated.

    I haven't received an answer as of yet, I'll post t on here when I do. I de-activated the mobile site because it's my clients site so he needs it to be operational during the day. I hope someone gives me an answer soon.

  • Page numbers from deleted book file persist in document

    I have 4 documents that I needed to merge so I attempted to put them in a book file (which I am not at all familiar with how to use). I removed the documents from the book file because it was not doing what I needed it to do, but the auto section page numbers are persisting in the individual documents and I cannot get rid of them. For example I have page numbering starting on page 5, but pages 1-4 have page numbers 5-8 on them and I cannot get rid of them. (I can do this manually of course but would like to know why they are persisting)

    Do you mean the numbers physically appear on the pages and you don't want them there (if so, delete them from the master page(s)) or do you mean the numbering scheme is wrong (if so, check your section and numbering options)?

  • Persistent Chat (Lync Server 2013) with Lync 2010 Group Chat

    I have successfully deployed Lync Server 2013 and both 2013 and 2010 desktop clients connect and function as expected.
    The problem is with Persistent Chat. It works perfectly with the 2013 desktop client but - whilst 2010 Group Chat connects - I receive the error message "The [LOGON_DOMAIN] is not available". No chat rooms are available and I am unable to search.
    I have been unable to locate anything on the web which discusses the problem.
    I do not know whether this makes a difference but the 2010 clients use terminals rather than dedicated workstations.
    Can anyone shed any light on what the problem may be?

    Have you created a CsPersistentChatEndpoint to allow the Group Chat client (2010) to connect to Persistent
    Chat server? Please take a look at: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj204901.aspx
