FCP 4.5 HD crashes on Tiger using QT-Export
Hello,
We are using FCP 4.5 on Tiger along with FCP5. At the beginning all seems to work fine. But if we want to export something using QuickTime conversation, FCP crashes without a message. We have this issue on different systems with identical installation.
Any clues?
Greetings from Stuttgart, Germany,
Simon
Simon, I have been having the same problem when i try to export using the compressor. It tells me I need a AGP Graphics card... the same problem that arose when i first installed FCP4.5 on my new computer with Tiger OS. I got around that by rescripting the infoplist to read 'PCI' rather than 'AGP' on startup. It seems I have to find a way around the compressor looking for the the older AGP graphics card. Any ideas?

How to crash a tiger using sony ericsson k800i
follow these steps to crash a tiger in kernel panic mode:
1. plug SE k800i using USB cable to your Mac
2. select Phone Mode when prompt at the phone
3. wait for few minutes
4. unplug USB cable from your Mac
whola!
I am not sure what is wrong with this release, prior 10.4.9 this problem does not exist, i m not too sure whether this is a bug so i only report when my Mac submits the error report to Apple online.
thanks
MacBook Pro 2.4GHz 4GB RAM 160GB HDD Mac OS X (10.4.10) Who Needs PC for Java Enterprise Development?Well, i am assure there are nothing wrong with your hardware, i did this to my iBook G4 that 100% original hardware and original Apple certified technician work (cause in my country here, there are no counterfeit retailers of Apple, sounds more successful than MSFT huh? sorry, back to topic).
And this same error happening in my current MBP which is also 100% same s h i t s. What else could we say?
There are 2 workaround to get our SE to charged using USB:
1. When first plug in the cable connection, SE normally will ask which mode you prefer, choose File Transfer mode, then after drive been mapped to your phone, immediately Eject it and leave it on table. (noted that during File Transfer mode, you won't receive calls or text messages). Then unplug the phone without Kernel Panic.
2. When first plug in the cable connection, choose Phone Mode, then immediately launch iSync, do some simple synchronizations and quit the program. Then unplug the phone without Kernel Panic.
Hopes this helps! -
Bridge crashes when I use the export panel (when I try to specify a folder)
Hi all!
Every time I use the export option, no matter where I access it from, when I try to specify a folder to move the file to, bridge crashes.
I can't just use "move" or "copy" to because I want to change the file format as well as move it.
Has anyone encountered this?
I already have the bridge 4.05.11 update installed.
Any solutions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, KarenEvery time I use the export option, no matter where I access it from, when I try to specify a folder to move the file to, bridge crashes.
In the export panel at the top right is a small menu icon, if you click on it and from the two options choose manage modules.
Next to ' select modules to enable' is a small icon of a toothed wheel. Click on it and first choose check for update (probably showing non available but give it a try) and then choose reinstall all modules. Restart Bridge and check if it is working. If still not restart Bridge holding down option key and choose reset preferences and see if that worked for you.
And there are other ways to save as new file format in new location. Assuming you have Photoshop also active go to the Bridge menu Tools / Photoshop and choose 'image processor, explore the options and set them to your wshes. You can also create an action in Photoshop for this goal and instead of image processor choose Batch and find the action you created -
Does anybody have similar experiences on FCP 6.02 (of Final Cut Studio 2). We encounter very often crashing. When we were using FCP 5, everything works fine, until we upgraded to FCP 6.0.
We have tried using OS X tiger (10.4.x) and Leopard (10.5.1) with latest update on everything. However, the FCP 6.02 still crashes very often without any noticeable reasons.
Our configuration:
Mac Pro C2D, 7GB RAM, 7300 Graphics card, Blackmagic Extreme HD I/O card, wireless and bluetooth installed.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
MikeBefore I post the questions in the forum, I did do a clean installation on everything and upate to the latest version of everything, including FCP and Leopard.
I did a clean installation by re-partition the disk and install OSX Leopard from a newly bought box set instead of doing the upgrade from the original 10.4.3 Tiger. I install FCS 2 without installing the FCS1. Then I update to the latest version until OSX did not show any updates when I check with the "update" built-in function of OSX.
I was using 3 internal disks to form a stripped raid 0. I was told by someone that the bandwidth requirement is higher on FCP6. I finally bought a raid card and add 8 SATA disks in Raid 5 configuration, which improve the R/W speed from 150MB/s to 400MB/s.
After adding the new raid array, FCP did crash less and running smoother but it still crashes sometime without reason.
Even worth, I bought another set of FCS 2 on my Macbook Pro, the Motion 3 keep crashing without any hints too.
Did anybody experience the same crashing problem and any suggestion to stop the crashing or to "prevent" it happens or some "work around" are very welcome and appreciated.
Thanks in advance. -
FCP 7 crashing on render and when exporting quicktime movie & rendering
Hi Guys,
I recently upgraded to Lion and am still using Final Cut Studio 3.
I have a 1.37min sequence which i wanted to export and burn the DVD. My normal workflow for this is:
- Export/quicktime movie/make self contained
- Open compressor and convert
But FCP 7 keeps on crashing on export, in fact is very unstable recently. It also crashes on rendering, and quite often when im editing.
- Final Cut Studio 7.03
- Footage is HDV 1080 50i
Any ideas on a solution??Are you converting those clips to ProRes in ClipWrap? Or keeping them native? You MUST convert them to ProRes.
The NXCam came out just before 7.0.3. FCP did update to mesh with that camera, but it's still rocky. And now that FCP 7...legacy...has been discontinued, there will be no more updates. But you have ClipWrap so that should be fine. As long as you convert to ProRes. -
Crash(s) Whilst using C ompressor
I think I'm getting Kernel panic crashes when I use Compressor 3.0.5
I thought originally it was FCP 6 but it seems to be Compressor. The screen has a black screen come over it and freezes the system and says please restart your machine. Is that a kernel panic? Would it be a good idea to trash Compressor settings and if so will I loose my Droplet settings if I do. Any other advice will be very welcomed. It has just happened again whilst trying to encode some files. Here's one of the crash logs

IE crashes after extended use of plug-in
Hi all:
After moving to v1.4.2 I've noticed that IE will throw an exception after extended use of the plug-in. By extended use I mean we navigate to applet pages and cycle through over and over (which by the way is part of the normal use of our web site).
Our web site makes use of four different applets, one of which is a larger graphical applet that makes use of a large amount of memory. IE seems to consistely crash upon initialization of this larger applet (after repeated cycles) but not exclusively so. If we cycle between the three other applets without going to the larger one, IE will eventually crash, it just takes longer to do so. This leads me to think that memory is an issue here. Could there be a memory leak in 1.4.2?
We've been able to reproduce this IE exception consistently on a Windows 2000 platform running IE v6.0.2800.1106 and with java plug-in versions 1.4.2, 1.4.2_02, and 1.4.2_03. IE crashes even faster when we do this test on Windows Me.
I know there's got to be others of you out there that have seen this problem. Have any of you found good workarounds for this? Staying on version 1.4.1_06 is not possible for us because of the "zip file is closed" exception that is always thrown when you have caching turned on and you call Crypt.getInstance. Sun's workaround for this only works the first two times you use the applet in the browser session. The third or fourth time it always seems to produce the exception.
I know this isn't a lot of information but any help would be greatly appreciated.
The IE exception log is below.

I am at my wits end trying to correct this problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks -
Final Cut Studio is crashing a lot using a Mac Pro (nehalem) 2009
Greetings,
I have a video workstation based on a Mac Pro (2x2.26GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Nehalem, 6 GB RAM, 640 GB HD, 512 NVIDEA VRAM) with a Blackmagic Decklink HD Extreme 2009 and an Highpoint RocketRAID 4322 card (properly connected to a RAID 5 array).
I'm editing, with Final Cut Studio 3, a big TV project with some TGA and loads of HD XDCAM EX 35mbs video footage.
*What is happening wrong?*
Final Cut Pro is crashing to many times and dont let me work with the flow that is supposed. I start to work and i do a bit of scrubbing in the timeline and suddenly the rainbow spyral starts to spin and kaput! FCP just crashes.
I've tried to many things. Re-installing everything from the baseline, plug out the 2 PCIe cards (and not even the drivers are installed). Even so FCP still crashes with the project.
Funny thing is... This symptom only happens with the Nehalem Mac Pro. I have another station based on a Mac Pro 2x2.66 GHz Dual Core Xeon 3 GB RAM 2006 and when i run the project... everything works fine. FCP here doesn't crash.
This is what makes me believe that the problem must be with the new Mac Pro.
I have the reports generated by the FCP after the crash. You can find it here:
http://www.ideiascompernas.com/reports/
I'm getting frustrated because i've invested big in this workstation, safe in the knowledge that it was going to be stable to complete my requirements.
Is there anything that i or Apple can do to resolve my problem. Is it the processor? Extended Hardware Test says that everything is ok.
I'll be waiting,
best regards, thanks,

I see you have the GT120, not a very nice card really but maybe it is 'enough.' I'd upgrade. To ATI Radeon 4870, once you get it stable and working.

I see your crash is kernel panic actually.
Exception Type: EXCBADACCESS (SIGBUS)

Almost always that is memory related, are you seeing parity errors?

Replace the RAM (I'd even up it to more memory, 6 x 2GB is what I would have configured for)
Have you tested your RAM? run Apple Hardware Test?
Disabled ALL USB and Firewire devices?
Is the RR4322 okay to run in slot #2 (16x) rather than in slot 3 or 4 (4x)?
Getting RAM replaced, advanced exchange, or go out and getting some Kingston or Crucial etc for your system, and swapping, really is one good method, trial and error, to find the cultprit or rule out RAM.
Errors like this can mean flushing your caches is a must, and possibly due to errors and crashes, clean system install, checking data (both time consuming) and being careful to recheck your drives with Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro 5 to insure there are not any corrupt files (not perfect either which is why restore the system from known good backup image can be a must). -
Is it possible to install Tiger using an external DVD drive?
I have one the of the first iMacs and at the time I thought I didn't need a DVD Player. However, now I was thinking of buying an external DVD player/burner. Is it possible to upgrade to Tiger using the external DVD drive since I don't have an internal one?
Hi Celticart,
Welcome to the discussions.
I have an old AGP PowerMac G4 to which I have hooked an external Firewire DVD Drive. I have installed Tiger without any problems, using this drive. I see no reason why it couldn't be done on an iMac as well, (provided it has Firewire).
I don't think you could get it to work using an external drive hooked up via USB.
Cheers!

Photoshop lagging/ crashing whenever I use any brush.
Hi guys,
I've found recently that Photoshop (CS5) is lagging or completely crashing when I use any of my brushes. I'm doing a painting in one document at the moment and it's near on impossible because every time I make a brush stroke it takes 10 seconds or so to recover. And now it's got to the point where I'm trying to smudge things but every time I make a stroke it crashes PS completely. I'm fed up.
I've turned off Enable GL drawing and I've made sure I don't have too many programmes running in the background on my computer, and I'm unsure what else to try. (I have Windows 8, if that's relevant).
Anyone got any advice?
Thanks.Got all the updates installed.
Updated driver for video card.
Disabled third party plugins.
Restarted Photoshop, restarted computer, no difference.
How do I look for bad fonts? I am not convinced that will be the problem, though.
Not sure what to do next. -
Photoshop crashes when I use the marquis tool.
Photoshop crashes when I use the marquee tool. As soon as I make a selection it crashes my computer (every time!) by either rendering the screen black or sometimes all white. I have to force shut down and restart. I'm using MacBook Pro OS 10.6.8 with Photoshop CS6. I am not in a position to update OS at this time. Is there anything I can do to work around this problem? It's extremely time-consuming and infuriating.
Here's the crash report, if anyone is able to make sense of this, I'd sure appreciate knowing what the problem is.

Kernel panics are not caused by applications, but by defective hardware or bugs in the OS and drivers.
Resetting prefs may avoid the settings that triggered the crash - but the cause remains in the hardware, OS, or driver code.
Since Apple is not going to update the drivers in 10.6.8, your best bet is to update the OS when you can, and hope the new drivers are in better shape. Unfortunately, it is also possible that you just have a bad GPU or video RAM - and fixing that would require replacing the video card or system (in the case of laptops or all-in-one machines). -
QuickTime Crashes All Programs Using Plugin
Hello Everybody!
I'm having trouble with my QuickTime plugin. It crashes anything that uses the plugin. Facebook Chat, which apparently uses QuickTime somehow (apparently), crashes my browser. I have Safari 4.0, and I also use the Beta version of Opera.
I think that this issue is linked to my iTunes trouble also. I was able to fully install iTunes by using msconfig.exe and stop all processes that interfere with iTunes and QuickTime. But alas, they both will not open.
Thusly, I can't open QuickTime from my start menu, and I cannot also access iTunes.
Thank you for your help; I'll be as cooperating as possible!
Edit Forgot to mention, I use Windows XP Home Edition...SP 3.

Try resetting your phone by holding down the home and off button until the apple symbol comes up. Then if still doing, restore your phone in itunes from your backup.
