hi all
im looking for some free plugins for FCP6 to ply with to see if there is any nice effects i can add to my short film im making.
any help with websites would be helpful, free is always best for the struggeling students like me.

MacJanitor allows you to run the Daily, Weekly and Monthly Maintenance Scripts whenever you want. (Your Mac normally does these automatically early in the morning provided your computer is left on and not sleeping - most of us don't leave our computers on all night).

WhatSize is incredibly useful for showing you where your HD space has gone. Just open it and click on the HD you want to check. In a couple of minutes it will list every file on the HD starting with the largest. You can instantly see what is taking up your valuable space.

Ever wondered how fragmented your HD is? Then you should find ShowVolumeFragmentation of interest. This program gives you numerous comprehensive readouts showing the fragmentation on your HD and the amount of unfragmented free space etc. etc. that is available. It also lists the fragmented files starting with those most fragmented.

Display plugin for busy/free

i would like to see in the week view what events are set to "busy" and what events are set to "free". I have another app that does this by displaying the "free" events without the background color (only the color for the outline of the event) and the title displayed in the event is italic.
We use this to indicate if a event is still in option (time is still free) or set to confirmed. Does anyone know a solution for this? Is it possible for someone to create a custom solutions, such as a plugin?

I will like to know if is a web site that we can donwload free plugins for final cut pro. I found some web sites but they jave some samples but when you loud these to final cut pro it will have the name of the company that sell it or is will say Exanple or Trila versiona a cross the screen.

Write permissions for FCP plugins

Hi,
I have downloaded some trial film effects plugins to see if they are apropriate for a project I am working on -and to see if they are any good of course. They are from a company called nattress. Anyway, I am not sure how to get the write permissions to install them in my plugins folder. I have the read permsissions, but not permission to write. Can anyone tell me how to do this or even reccommend some other good film look filter package plugins? This is rather urgent so any helpful response would be greatly appreciated.

Copy the plugins (folder with plugins) to your FCP plugins directory:
<pre>/Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro System Support/Plugins/</pre>
Just drag and drop the files/folder inside that Plugins-folder. You will then get a dialog about Authentication. Click the Authenticate button, type your password and click OK.
If you still can't get this working, you can put the files/folder inside your home directory, inside the following folder:
<pre>Library/Preferences/Final Cut Pro User Data/Plugins/</pre>

New/Updated free plugins for FCE

A couple of new plugins are available for free in my Final Cut Express/Pro Effects and others have been improved in their use of alpha channel, composition methods, and precision in object sizing (both new and updated plugins have a NEW flag in my welcome page).
In addition I added a set of (well so far only 3) plugins I labeled "toolbox": they do not really help in editing, but help in understanding how editing works:
- Channels displays selected color channels (either RGB or YUV) including alpha channel
- +Field Selector+ displays selected fields of each frame (either field 1 or 2 or both... side by side): it turned out to be a very valuable fxscript debugging tool
- +Value Tester+ displays values of selected fxscript variables: quite cryptic for non fxscript programmers...
Among the "standard" plugins a new entry exists: +Make Transparent+. This is quite simple and useful when applied to the masks made available by FCE (e.g. the generators in the Render or the Shapes bin).
+Make Transparent+ simply changes the white areas in the selected mask into transparent areas and black areas into opaque areas (or viceversa). The mask with the Make Transparent filter now may be simply superimposed to the clip... see the examples in my web page.
I hope these are also useful to my friends in this forum.

What is the best afordable/free Slow motion plugin for AE CS6?

Howdy! I am new here and I couldn't really find the answer I was looking for. I need a affordable or Free is even better plugin for AE CS6 to do some editing on GoPro footage and some other High fps video. I really want a smooth and minimal blur effect. Doesn't have to be perfect but better than what I got now. Any help is greatly appreciated.

MOST PEOPLE do not understand frame rates and slow motion. High frame rate compositions do not improve slow motion. Video works the same way that film does. Shoot at a high frame rate and playback every frame on a projector that is running slower than your camera was running. Simple as that.
Time remapping with frame blending is included with AE. If you shoot with your GoPro at 60 or higher just open the footage in AE, interpret the footage as 29.97 or other standard frame rate like 24 or 23.976, then drop the footage in a comp with the same frame rate and you'll have you slow mo with no problem. That's the same thing as shooting film at 60fps or 100fps and threading up the film in a projector that runs 24fps. If you want to slow it down further use Time Remapping.
The only other really good plug-in is Twixtor, but that's expensive. All others are about the same as what's included with AE.

Hi folks, I'm trying to install the plugins for AE 6.5 Pro into my nice new FCP 6 set up. When I fire up FCP, it rejects all the plugins and then shuts down. Any ideas?

There is a section in the manual describing how After Effects plugins might or might not work.
Depends on who made them. If they're from Adobe, you are flat out of luck. If they're from third party creators, you have a 50/50 chance they will work. You would visit the publisher's Web site to find out if they are FCP-compatible.

MPEG-2 Plugin for FCP???

I recently purchased the MPEG-2 plugin for Quicktime from the Apple website because I read somewhere that this would transfer to all applications on the MAC.
In particular, I needed it to work with Final Cut Pro. But when I tried to import the video, it does the same as it always has.
Video but no audio when brought into the timeline.
Is there an MPEG-2 plugin specifically for Final Cut?
I use "Final Cut Studios 1.5 with FCP 5.1.4"

The original video clips are actually the JVC proprietary MPEG-2 format (.TOD). I had to download the MPEG-2 plugin for Quicktime to use Streamclip (Otherwise it wouldn't even read them).
I know that the MPEG videos have the Audio and Video muxed together. They play fine with the MPEG-2 plugin and with the VLC player.
Why can't FCP read them correctly though? There is never any Audio. Every other video editing program is able to read MPEG-2 videos correctly (Sony Vegas, Adobe Premier Pro, etc). FCP is the only pro editor that won't read them.
You also mentioned that the MPEG-2 plugin comes with FC Studios. But I've been using it for almost 4 years, and I've never been able to watch MPEG-2 video on my computer. Is this an option that you have to specifically choose to install when installing Final Cut Studio?
