FCP 7.2 : colors in canvas change between paused frames and playing frames

To all the FCP-Experts...
Just before this project I switched from FCP 6 to 7 (clean install) and started using ProRes 422 HQ instead of Blackmagic Uncompressed 10bit.
To my surprise, the preview-picture in the canvas is never the same when playback is paused compared to a running playback. On an external monitor, this effect does not occur. Briefly, the colors when paused are much more saturated.
There are some other minor differences concerning filters when playing back or pausing the image, which I can live with, but the color-difference is most annoying.
Any help greatly appreciated.

I don't think trimming back does anything. I've tried it once and also it's not in the media itself. It is strange though that it appears this way in QT player and then like a strange bump or hit in the video when played in another app like MPEG streamclip. Very weird! I'm beginning to think there is just some bugginess with FCP 7.0.3 and Lion 10.7.3. I should add that I get pretty consistent problems with crashing on my system also. It's periodic but definitely not the most stable. Would be great if Apple was still developing this version of FCP but I know that's just not the reality anymore. Color changes between Safari 3x and 4x

Does anyone have any info about color handling changes in 4.0.2?
I have a friend who upgraded from Safari 3x to Safari 4.0.2 and now the color is off on all her web pages. All the color on all parts of the page are desaturated. It certainly looks like a color profile problem but I can't seem to find any info about what might have changed between Safari 3x and 4.0.2.
I put an old copy of Safari on her machine, it is 2.0.4, and the colors are completely normal in it.
The machine in question is a macbook running 10.4.11.

Apple has apparently decided that unless a color profile is assigned, it will make images in its new browser look like garbage. Meanwhile they still look great on Firefox.
I'm an artist and this is terrible. It means that to please Apple, I need to go resave and reupload all my images with an sRGB profile assigned.
In Firefox, the images look identical to how they were saved originally in Photoshop, without a profile. Yet they look washed out and terrible in Safari.

Color changes between library/develop and web module

Hi there,
when changing between modules library/develop and web the color of the pictures changes. That means, pictures become darker and the red/orange colors become more intensive. Back to the library, everything is o.k. Webgaleries also change, but not normal exports.
Until yesterday everything worked wonderful, but then I updated from 3.0 to 3.3 and now there´s no more WISYWYG for the webgaleries!

First up, Develop is the most current preview. Library previews depend on the preview settings and if they've been zoomed into recently. Web exports sRGB Jpegs and I believe the webcache files that are generated for preview are also. If you're using a Flash Gallery, then there is no colour management happening.

Excel activex call changes between Office 2000 and Office XP. How does one manage that?

I have several Active X calls from within a VI. One in particular is
the Excel Cell Value property node in Office 2000. MS has decided to
call it Excel Cell Value2 in Office XP.
I have built and exe on a machine with Office 2000 and can run the code
on a machine with Office XP, but I can not build on the machine with
Office XP. I can also run a VI with that call
on the Office XP box, but if I mass compile the VI I get the broken arrow.
I guess I am confuesed as to why it can run but not compile. If the
ActiveX call is not there for the compile why is it there for the run?
If I can expect this does it work in reverse where I
build on an Office XP box and run on a Office 2000 box?

These problems you are experiencing do stem from the ActiveX changes between Excel versions. When you mass compile LabVIEW checks to see if everything is linked correctly, including ActiveX portions of your code. Since there are slight changes the LabVIEW compiler detects something is wrong, but cannot isolate the problem. You might need to force a recompile of that VI. Check out this link.

Add a simple switch to PDF Reader to change between MY-VIEW and ORIGINAL-VIEW

I would like to open pdf file with my same default viewing preference *every single time* that I open a PDF file, regardless of what the original document creator set as the default view. It would be nice to have a SIMPLE switch between MY-VIEW and ORIGINAL-VIEW. It's very frustrating to have to keep switching my view preferences every time I open a new file with a different default.

Thank you Bernd, but that is only part of the solution. For example, I do set the Page Layout to 1-page-continuous. MOST of the time it keeps this setting, but some documents either override that setting, or perhaps it reverts back to a default (maybe with version upgrades?). The other part is that I always want the menu-bar and toolbar to show up. Some documents hide these when they open. I realize that I can hit [F8] and/or [F9] to toggle these, but there are additional settings. I also want to always have the selection tools available, etc. Bottom Line: I just want a collection of settings that I can call up with a single, simple shortcut or button, so I don't have to perform multiple steps just to get the tool back to my standard configuration whenever something changes it.

Exadata - Any Functionality Change Between V2/X3 and the ESS/RDBMS?

We are currently running a V2 quarter-rack on 11.2.0.2 BP7 and 11.2.2.3.2 ESS. We're moving to a X3 quarter-rack shortly which will run whatever the latest and greatest versions of RDBMS/GI/ESS are.
On our current Production environment, we make use of HCC and discovered that with bitmap indexes (of which we have plenty) it was necessary to disable the index, perform the HCC compression on the table and then rebuild the index afterwards.
Obviously, a very intensive operation when we have HUGE indexes.
Does anyone know if this behavior the same in 11.2.0.3 RDBMS/latest ESS? Are we still required to disable the indexes before we perform HCC on the table or have the relationship between HCC and bitmap indexes chilled a little bit?

Yep - got the May 21 build (BP 18) and it arrived four days later (that's what you get for ordering at Oracle's financial year end!)
I've checked and I can't find any difference in functionality in the documentation that you referenced. I'm not surprised given that Oracle seem to save functionality changes for Release levels and have the Patchset levels fix bugs.

Color shift (gamma?) between XDCAM Ex and PROres

Hi,
We have edited a show in Apple XDCAM EX in 23,98 HD. We did a QT movie of that sequence into the native codec that we edit with (Apple XDCAM EX).
Into quicktime, or even in compressor, we re-export ta video into Apple Pro Res and we are experiencing a big color shift between both codec.
Somedoby have an idea on that?

There's a know shift in the gamut between the two recording methods because of the compression scheme.
If you search the posts here and on the Cow, you'll find other references to it.
You might want to consider working in ProRes all the way through. It's a good way to even out all the differences between source footage and act as a neutral Digital Intermediary. The nice thing is that it's tuned to run on the machines and runs very efficiently. It's been a big help here when I've had mixed footage, or have to go out to all the different formats and uses that I do. I get no shifting at all, even between proxy and HQ. So I can do all my editing and effects in lightweight proxy and then conform to the more space demanding 422 or HQ.

It better to use save as completed - reason being when SAVE AS COMPLETED the entire document is checked for parking i.e, simulted before parking.
Eg,
If cost center us not assigned, then when SAVE AS COMPLETED the an error msg will pop up.
if you want user to use only SAVE AS COMPLETED then in FB00 you can set the indicator for each individual.

Case (Sensitivity) changes between Data Mart and Tabular Model

Notice that the case on the first T is changing from lower case to upper case between the DM and the tabular model. Why? I've searched for an answer on this forum and elsewhere but other users problems are with duplicate entries with different
casing, but in my situation, I DON'T have duplicate entries in the tabular model. It's the same entry from the DM but the case has changed. Why? It's almost as if it's trying to "fix" the casing. After several more tests I've
found that if I have a mixture of upper & lower case characters, the tabular load changes the case to either all lower or camel case. What is causing this behavior?
I've checked the language collation on both the DM Server and the SSAS Tabular Server and they are identical: SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS
I also checked the columns in the DM, specifically - the TeamName column contains the same language collation as the servers
This is occurring on one of our lab servers, but the same scenario works fine on my dev box - I've compared the 4 machines and they all appear identical. Only difference is my dev box has sql server 2012 sp2 developer edition and the lab box has sql

well the way icloud works besides the back up part of it is if you add a contact on your phone it will go to any other device that has the same apple id on it, Why the info is change im not sure about that but you can try turning off icloud and see if it still happens

Color in fcp7 changes to crushed blacks and warm skin tones for some reason

So I have a MBP Retina, 2.6 GHZ, 16GB memory, 512 SSD. I have two external displays LG IPS LED ones connected via hdmi. For some strange reason, when I perform a given function or just randomly the color of my video becomes highly contrasted, and warm. When I first begin my project everything looks great, but say for example I go to Window>Arrange>Standard, the windows will orgainze themsleves as usual, but then the color will become drastically crushed (see before and after photos below) The image becomes heavily contrasted as well as very warm in the red spectrum. When I disconnect the monitor to see if it is an issue of the external display and just view FCP on my laptop, the images remain the same, crushed blacks and warm/redish skin tones. But everything looks fine, if I close the program, disconnect the external displays and then recconnect them again and open FCP 7 again. It will NOT do this if I stay on my laptop only, seems to only do it when I have either one or two external displays attached.
Not sure if anyone has come accross this yet, any clues? The first photo is how it normally looks, the second is with the strange color annomily.

Uneven color between background text frame and underlying frame fill

Hi. I'm using InDesign CS3 on Windows XP.
On my document, the main heading is in a frame with a fill of 'None'. The heading text has a bevel and emboss. The text frame sits on a background A4 frame which is filled with a Pantone spot colour.
When I print the cover page, the color filling the text frame is slightly different from the background Pantone color, even though the text frame has no color fill.
When I checked the document before printing in View>Overprint Preview, it appeared to be fine. The PDF also looked fine. In both situations, I could not discern a color difference but it is there in the printed document.
To provide a color behind the text which matches the fill color of the frame occupying the whole page, what should I do? My gut feel is to select the background frame and the text frame and check the knockout box on the effects panel or something like that.
I hope I have explained sufficiently clearly the problem I am experiencing.

Records alternate between non drop frame and drop frame...

I am seeing a pattern with Premiere records, that alternate the records from being non drop frame to drop frame. So one day we recorded 7 segments. The records ended up coming out like this (without any changes being made between records):
Segment 1 - non drop frame
Segment 2 - drop frame
Segment 3 - non drop frame
Segment 4 - drop frame
Segment 5 - non drop frame
Segment 6 - drop frame
Segment 7 - non drop frame
Is this from a hidden setting we can't find, or is this a known bug?

How do I stop color changes between AI/Premiere and After Effects

I bring in an Illustrator file to Premeire, match it up to the timing of the voiceover and then send each file to After Effects. I've been doing this for years now with no issues. But today, I'm getting odd colors. To best describe this I've uploaded and image.
Left hand side is original, right hand side is once it's been sent to AE. No effects have been added. A simple 'Replace with AE' has been used.
Any ideas on why it's doing this?

Here are the scopes. All I'm doing to get the change is sending it to AE. No changes elsewhere. Just that simple send to AE and it starts playing with the colours.
I have also noticed that when I reload my projects a lot of the time I have to re-render the entire film. I did update the Adobe software when it became available.
