FCP asking for Waves plug-ins folder?

Hello
I could not open FCP 5. It's asking where the waves plug-in folder. So, where is the waves plug-in folder? Why is it asking for waves plug-in folder to open FCP? As always, I appreciate your helps. Thanks
Romanz

If you are having trouble starting FCP the issue may well be WAVES security.
I have the Waves Audio Plugins as well. I have had their Native Power Pack NPP for 3-4 years and their security has always been a royal pain!! From Dongles to PACE security I seem to have trouble with it every year or so.
I believe there are two ways to authorize the WAVES plugins these days. On my machine I am using an authorizer - if you have the other method then this won't be the same. I think the other method these days is with a USB dongle again...
Anyway, if you have recently moved FCP from one machine to another or removed your system harddrive to replace it then you will likely have a problem with their security. Waves will not allow FCP to start up and you will need to remove the plugins folder altogether.

  • Cannot find "Plug-ins" folder for Photoshop CS6 on my Mac.

I cannot find ”Plug-ins" folder for Photoshop CS6 on my Mac. Path suppose to be Macintosh HD > Applications
> Adobe Photoshop CS6 > Plug-Ins but that folder is missing. Any suggestion on how to find it?

    Thank you Hans,
If I understand it correctly, way to install extensions/plugins on Mac is
    following
"Quit Photoshop, then copy the desired plug-ins (or extensions) to the
    following locations:
    Mac OS:
       - Applications/Adobe Photoshop CC/Plug-ins folder
       - Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS6/Plug-ins folder"
In my case it would be the last path, as I have CS6.
However, my problem is that Plug-ins folder is missing

  • Cannot find the plug-ins folder for photoshop elements 6

    Hi,
I was trying to update the plug-in for camera raw for PE6, downloaded the update however in the instructions it tells me to go to the root folder in Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats and replace the camera raw plug in.
there is no plug-ins folder in the library/application support/adobe folder. Is there somewhere else I should be looking ?
I am running a Mac with yosemite.
    thanks in advance,

You are probably in the wrong library. You have three libraries on your mac: your username>library, system>library (never mess with that one), and the library at the top level of your hard drive, which is the one you want. It's not exactly hidden, but it's very hard to get to. The easiest way is to go to the Finder preferences>sidebar>show these items in the sidebar,  and turn on Hard disks. Then when you open a new finder window, you will see your hard drive in the list on the left side of the window. Click it and the library will be at the top level of results on the right side of the window.

  • Waves Plug ins and Final Cut

I run Pro Tools on a Macbook Pro which also hosts Final Cut Studio. I am having a problem whereby on booting the program it crashes if the iLok isn't inserted but if the iLok is there, it takes forever to load - I mean forever - I am still waiting for it after about 10 minutes and am unsure whether it is going ot do it at all. It is just the Native Power Pack but there are a lot of impulse responses for the reverb it seems to be loading - the point is, I don't want to use Waves with Final Cut - I just want to import and edit some video quickly but this is causing me a bit of a headache - I am sure there is a simple solution.
Thanks in anticipation all you wonderful boffins
    Matt

The solution is simple but but you might not like it ...
FCP is Audio Unit aware, and your Waves plug-ins are Audio Units and so are being loaded by FCP.
The only way to stop this from happening is to move the offending plug-ins out of the /Library/Audio/Plug-ins directory before you launch FCP ... of course, this then means you need to move them back in again before you use Pro Tools ... not too great :/
Manually, you could simplify this by creating shortcuts (aliases) to the folders on the desktop, so it would be easy to drag and drop between the two.
Or, if you're that way inclined, you could create an Automator action or AppleScript to do it for you.
Perhaps easiest would be to create two separate user accounts, one you use for Pro Tools and one for FCP. Install the Waves plugins in the Pro Tools user's ~/Library/Audio/Plug-ins folder, rather than the global one. Then just use Fast User Switching to switch environments.
    Hope it helps
    Andy
EDIT: Oh heck look --> http://www.audiofile-engineering.com/audiounitmanager/ this may be by far the better solution for simply switching plugin sets, you just need to create a separate set for FCP and Pro Tools, or just switch between None and All. Gotta be worth checking out as its free! Everybody loves free

  • Waves plug in folder not found? Is there an audio plug in manager?

Hey folks, here we go with what will probably be a series of questions about Final Cut Pro- I just got and installed Final Cut Pro Studio today. I have version 5.1 on a Mac Pro listed below. When I boot up the program, it scans all my audio plug ins (I have many). I removed a couple that were demo's and am now held up on finding the Waves audio folder, although I think I know where it is (Macintosh HD->Applications->Waves->Waves Plug Ins) FCP doesn't allow me to select it, or anything in it.
I tried trashing the Waves preferences. No help there.
I also don't care about using this Waves thing, it's only a guitar amp simulator that I'll never likely need in FCP. So if no one knows about finding the Waves folder, is there a plug in manager like in Logic and other audio programs that would allow me to skip it anyway?
Thanks, Final Cut Pro forum people... I'm going to be learning this program soon, and will no doubt be on here from time to time with questions that I hope aren't too stupid. I can't find this in the four manuals at the moment, so if anyone has any ideas that would be great.

Was the audio line in good enough for most users, especially home users? Yes. Was the audio line in used by most professionals? No.
Keeping the analog signal as far away as possible from any potential source of interference is a good thing. Routing an analog cable over and around disks and power supplies and such can not have a good effect on the signal. Getting it digital as soon as possible can only help.
Conversely, I have looked at and tried quite a few of the USB & FW enabled audio devices out there in the market (including the iMic) and am not impressed at all.
Well you do get want you pay for
No where in my post did I say this was a good thing on Apple's part, I said it was a potential benifit (emphasis added). I too am sorry to see it go, I use it extensively on my personal machine for digitizing my record collection. At some point I will need to buy a new system and the cost of an external A/D converter will have to be added to the cost of the machine as will the cost for a DVD drive.
I do have to say however that this is the first time any post of mine has been called Balderdash, at least in such a lyrical way.

  • Waves plug-ins

Sorry, this is a question. I'm new to this forum....
When I open FCE all of my waves plug ins get loaded. This takes around 5 minutes and I also get netshell error messages with two of the plug ins.
Somebody else posted the same problem and was advised to move the plug-ins to another folder. I imagine that, like me. he needs the plug-ins for Pro Tools so this is not an option.
Can anyone please advise another solution?
By the way if I try to apply effects in soundtrack, I also get netshell errors and am unable to load soundtrack effects. I guess the problems are related.

I'm new to your Form but have the same issues with Waves plugins loading into FCE when I start it up. I emailed Waves and they rersonded with the solution to our problem. Waves doesn't support Final Cut Pro or Express.
This is what they said to do.
Go to:HD>Library>Audio>Plug-ins>Components> remove any Waveshell files that you may find there. This will allow FCP or FCE to launch withoput Waves Plug-ins.
If you use Waves in Logic, Peak or Spark you will need to place the Waveshells back in the 'Components' folder before launching the application.
I use Motu Digital Performer 4.5 and it works without repacing the Waveshells back in the folder. This is a fix for your problem. Good luck. Bob

  • Final cut pro conflicting with waves plug ins

Hi, I'm a pro tools user and I have wave plug ins. These plug ins are automatically loading up in final cut when I first enter final cut.
What is happening is I click on final cut to boot it, it starts loading my plug ins, then it says that it cant find a couple of plug ins. Then it automatically quits, giving me no access to final cut.
So basically I cant get into final cut at all. I erased my plug in preferences and my final cut preferences, that did nothing. I booted with extensions off in safe boot mode, that still did nothing.
IS THEIR ANY BUTTON I CAN HOLD DOWN TO BYPASS LOADING THOSE PLUG INS WHEN I BOOT UP FINAL CUT SO IT DOESN'T CRASH MY PROGRAM SO I CAN GET INTO FINAL CUT AND TURN OFF THOSE PLUG INS?
    Thanks.

If you have more than one waveshell, which may be the reason for your problem (like one that calls for plugs you don't have), the quickest solution is to drag all of them out of the folder (applications/waves/waveshells) temporarily. Then make sure FCP launches correctly (it should). Then put only the lowest numbered waveshell back in, and try again. This way you'll find which is the culprit, and can permanently remove it. I had this problem and used this solution successfully.
If you have only one waveshell, start by removing it to see if that solves the launch issue, which it should, then look at your plugins themselves (applications/waves/plugins) to see which might be the culprit. If there are any demo versions or ones you otherwise don't own licences for, remove them first and try relaunching FCP. You should eventually find the culprits and be ok.
Also, make sure your Waves plugins/waveshell are updated to the proper versions for your OS and Pro Tools versions. See the waves site for details on that.

  • Plug-Ins folder paths

How do people go about installing their plugins on different languages? It seems like Adobe is localizing the name of the Plug-Ins folder depdending on the language the system is installed on or maybe it's their localized installers doing it. In any case, i need to find out the correct paths for these languages:
    English
    French
    German
    Italian
    Spanish
    Japanses
    Simplified Chinese
Does anyone know where i can find these?
    thx

This gets asked a lot, so perhaps folks can post information for the languages they know about.
A German customer of mine reported that the plug-ins directory for CS2 on his Windows XP system is
    AdobeCS2\Zusatzmodule
And the following subdirectories are localized as follows
    "Effects" = "Effekte"
    "File Formats" = "Dateiformat"
    "Filters" = "Filter"
    "Import-Export" = "Importieren-Exportieren"
I'd like to know the equivalents for French systems.

  • Waves Plug-Ins and Audition 3.0

Has anyone else has problems getting Waves Plug-Ins to work with Version 3 of Audition?
Admittedly, I am using the demo to make sure everything work before I upgrade to version 3 [but that has never been a problem for me in the past].
I can only get half of my Waves Plug-Ins to work, and the other half says they are incompatible.
Does anyone have any ideas, because it is next to impossible to get help from Waves.
    Thanks
    Stan

I think all you can do is move them out of whatever folder there are in.

  • Soundtrack Pro crashes when I open Waves Plug-ins

I'm using Soundtrack Pro 3 to master audio i've created in Logic Studio. Waves plug-ins (principally, the Q-series eg plug-ins) cause Soundtrack Pro to freeze.
I've re-installed all plug-ins, but no joy. Should I re-install Soundtrack Pro? Does this mean wiping and re-installing the entire Logic Studio?

The workaround I used was to just export the whole thing without saving, and then reimport it into FCP. It works for this project, but it doesn't really seem like the RIGHT way that this whole operation should work!

  • WAVES plug ins not in mixdown- please, please help me!!!!

Hi. Im an experienced adobe user (been using it since it was cool edit). Im now using the latest Adobe for Mac on my MacBook. Heres the deal:
When I go to export a mixdown, any plug in that didn't come with Adobe (such as WAVES) DOES NOT SHOW UP ON THE MIXDOWN. They work just fine in the actual multitrack session, but then just disappear in the mixdown. Ive tried every way possible to mix the file down- time selection, entire selection, Export, Mix to new track- you name it- but the waves just aren't on the mixdown. This is driving me absolutely bananas- has anyone else had this issue? Can someone please help me? Im so desperate for an answer on this that Ill give you some free voice work if you can tell me how to solve this issue! Or send you flowers- something! H E L P  M E!!!!!!

I'm not a WAVES user but I've noticed some Cubase users (on their forum) have experienced problems with WAVES plug-ins.  It might be related.  Have you contacted Waves directly?  They should be aware of any problems and would be best able to help find a solution.
    Good luck.

  • Where is the FC Studio plug ins folder?

    Hi,
Basic question here. I am trying to install a few new noise reduction filters in Final Cut since Compressor is quickly dying before my eyes!
Where in the world is the Final Cut Studio plug ins folder? It used to be Library - App Support - Final Cut Pro - Plug Ins, but in the new Final Cut Studio world, it is in a different spot.
Does anyone know where it is? Thanks!

    Quick tip:
Library/somewhere/somewhere else -is always the main Library directory at the top level of your hard drive.
˜/Library or, your name/Library is the directory specific to your user space.

  • [ID CS6] Having the project build directly into the Plug-ins folder - Xcode

    Hello everyone
I'm just starting to develop plugins for InDesign CS6 on Mac OS X. After building the project, I currently move manually the plugin into the Plug-ins folder. It is said in the documentation that for having them directly into the Plugins folder, we need to specify it in the ID_SDK_DIR variable in each Target on Xcode. However, I can't find that variable anywhere and I have no idea what I should do in order to accomplish it.
Thank you in advance for your help, and I'm sorry if it's a very naive question.

  • Extension Manager removing the whole Plug-ins folder along with the panel

When I click "Remove" from the Extension Manager interface, the following has occurred--
In CS6 - When I used the Extension Manager to "remove" by clicking the "remove" button,  it removes not just the panel I installed but has removed the folders "Plug-ins>Panels>my panel". The whole hierarchy!
In CS5 - it has left the Plug-ins folder but removed  "Panels>my panel"
In CS4 - the Extension Manager is working correctly for installing and removing without removing any shell folders.
Question #1 - What do I do about my missing plug-ins for these applications? This is disastrous!
Question #2 - Is there a way to fix the CS5 and CS6 Extension Manager to not delete the shell folders, when you are just trying to remove a custom panel????
    My system:
    Windows Vista Ultimate
    Service Pack 2
Processor Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9650 @3.00GHz
    Memory (RAM) 8.00GB
    System-64-bit
    Hard Drives C: 1Terabyte - 301GB available
    Z: 1 Terabyte - 309GB available

Also here is more info that might be germane--
I am using Extend Script Toolkit CS6 3.8.0.12 ExtendSript 2.12 ScriptUI 6.1.8 to edit and generate 1 .mxi file for use in CS5 & CS6 and another .mxi file for use in CS4.
I open the Adobe Extension Manager for CS5 to create the .mxp files for CS5 & CS6
I double click on the .mxp file and it automatically opens Adobe Extension Manager CS6 and installs the panel into Photoshop CS6
I manually open Adobe Extension Manager CS5 it is sluggish to open and shows a progress bar. Then I do a File>Open to install the panel into Photoshop CS5.
In the testing of various iterations of mypanel, I have removed the previous version of mypanel, so there is nothing showing as enabled or installed in the EM. So, are you kind of saying that if I hadn't emptied out the panel but had left my own panels in there as just disabled, rather than "removed" that the rest of the whole Plug-ins folder would still be there. Leaving something in there would have been like saving an empty seat for a friend at the theater?
The Versions of Adobe Extension Manager that I am using are:
    CS6 version 6.0.2.40
    CS5 version 5.0.334
CS4 Version 2.1.112 (which appears to be working as it should!)
