FCP Chapter Marker Limit for iDVD (muxing error)?

I'm attempting to create disc images in iDVD 7.0.3 for a 2 DVD set created in FCP 4.5. I've exported QT movies with chapter markers for both of my Disc A and Disc B projects. Disc A (1 hr 56 min and 16 chapters) writes just fine to disc image but Disc B (1 hr 40 min and 32 chapters) has given me fits for days, continually leading to "Muxing preparation (project conversion) error". I've tried a number of attempts at fixes per the forums to no avail (checking the placement of my chapter markers, avoiding special characters in marker names, etc.) I've even tried killing the "Scene Selection" menu. Is there a chapter marker limit in iDVD then? Have I really exceeded this with 32? I ask this for my latest test this morning in which I split the Disc B project into two (evenly splitting the content as well as # of chapters between test B-1 and B-2 projects) led to successful creation of disc images for both. However, I want to put the two back together again. Please help. Thank you.

Yes, I've heard that you should have either 15GB or 25GB free on your internal boot drive. I have 17GB available. Incidentally, my iDVD project files and disc images are being written to other drives attached to my system. I don't think this is the issue though since I've been operating in this environment for some time and have mastered a 2-DVD set a couple of months ago (2 hours on each disc) with no issues. I have even created another disc image of my 2 hour Disc A (to fix some editorial changes) with no issues. It's when it comes time to burn a DVD or write a disc image of my Disc B when it becomes an issue. Specifically, did you get the "there was an error during muxing preparation project conversion" error message then? Thanks.

  • ASR9000/XR - BNG - L3 sub-interface limit for trunk (4096) error - what is the work around?

We currently have 7,500 broadband subscribers that we will be terminating on our ASR 9001.
Each one of our customers will be terminating on a sub-interface on a bundle.
On the 9k, there will be a QoS policy applied to rate-limit their broadband connection (see example below).
The challenge that we are running into right now is scaling beyond 4096 L3 sub-interfaces. When running through this in our lab, we receive the following fail message:
    RP/0/RSP0/CPU0:BNG(config-subif)#show config failed
    Tue Mar 10 18:32:07.552 UTC
!! SEMANTIC ERRORS: This configuration was rejected by

    interface Bundle-Ether10.6941171
!!% The L3 sub-interface limit for the trunk interface has been reached: Trunk limit for L3 subinterfaces on Bundle-Ether10 is 4096
We have added the following on to each of the sub-interfaces to "fake" out the NPU, but even with SPD configured, we are receiving the max 4096 message:
    service-policy output <POLICY> subscriber-parent resource-id 0
    service-policy output <POLICY> subscriber-parent resource-id 1
    service-policy output <POLICY> subscriber-parent resource-id 2
    service-policy output <POLICY> subscriber-parent resource-id 3
It is my understanding that we have a total of 4 resource ID's to use (0-3) and the ASR 9001 will support up to 32,000 sub-interfaces (system wide or 8,000 sub interfaces per resource-id).
See attached image for reference this design.
Main question to the community is what is the work around to scale beyond 4096 L3 sub-interfaces??
In our case it is not feasible to bring in additional bundles and spread the customers out.
    Look forward to your responses.

  • MPEG2 or MP4 with chapter marker export for playing back on TV.

Is it possible to export a project from Adobe premiere pro to MPEG2 or MP4 format with chapter markers information for playing back on a TV via usb conection?

It is not.  But the following program can create MP4 files with them.

Whether or not the TV will read them is another matter.

I finished a project that is 2hrs:19:00 min and when I export to QT file( not self contained) and try to burn with iDVD it states that file is too large...How can I split the movie in 2 parts and still keep my chapter markers or should I try to copmpress to fit into iDVD...? Help. Thanks

  • Question bout chapter marker esthetics for dvd

    Hi
I'm just about to make a .img to burn dvds from. Haven't made dvds in the past couple years. So maybe this is a dumb question, but since I don't want to create a dvd to find out, tell me: Does it look better to leave 'Chapter X' out of the marker name and just have a title? I forget if there's already a 'Chapter X' list in the menu waiting for names for the Chapters so it would be repititious to have it in the title. Tho maybe some designation before the name is better.
    best
    elmer

No problem, I made a little test dvd of a couple minutes and saw that there is no
    "Chapter 1 ________
    Chapter 2 ________
    etc"
I was worried if I titled a marker 'Chapter 1 Whatever', it would appear as 'Chapter 1 Chapter 1 Whatever'. See what I mean?
So problem solved. I'm working on making an .img for a 2-hour flick so I can knock out a bunch of dvds easily.
it's been 5 hours and I'm at 58%. A tad slow. I thot it would go faster.

  • Putting multiple chapter-marked movies under one IDVD menu

I am currently making various instructional videos for a company and I want to fit 4 separate imovies that are chapter-marked under 1 idvd menu so I can fit this in 1 Dual layer DVD . Any answer can help. Thanks

I assumed the OP had tried that and it failed..
I asssumed he was using the 'Export from iMovie' approach that only gives you a way to add one movie to an iDVD project.
Anyway, we should have him covered.

  • Muxing error

Hello All. This my  problem. Working in fcp created project close to 4.5 GB. Exported to QT then compressed using DVD setting for 150 min.  in order to send to DSP. When I pulled into DSP, and created menu and chapters I began to build. I received a muxing error. So as I began to work backwards. I discovered the orginal quicktime movie audio lagged in various spots. I began to work further back and then tried to make each chapter into individual m2v and ac3 files. I then tried different combinations of each chapter to find where the muxing error occured. Once I determined the chapters that had muxing errors I went back to the FCP project and checked each audio setting of clips and audio. All were the same.  I've never had a muxing error. We did change cameras half way through the project, but they were the same Canon and same settings (I believe). In fact we've never changed the audio on the camera. Any advise would be great.
    Thanks!

After I exported as a quicktime, I then opened with compressor. I used 150 best quality for dvd. Somewhere between FCP and a qt movie, the audio began to lag. I can only combine a few chapters in order NOT to get the muxing error once inside DSP.
    Thanks for the response.

  • Chapter Marker Image Problems

    Hi,
I created a movie and set chapter marker. For images I moved the image slider to different locations than default. After rendering the movie chapters work fine but the images are wrong. The same image sometimes appears a two adjacent chapters and other times the image for the next chapter appears at the one before. I didn't have that problem before so I don't know if it is me doing something wrong or if the bug came with the recent 10.0.9 update.
    Anyone noticed the same?

Problem is solved. FCPX inserts a chapter marker at movie start which caused the problem. I set that marker manually and changed the chapter image to the position I wanted it to be. Now all images correspond to the appropriate chapter markers.

  • Anamorphic DV export for iDVD - method?

    Help!
I am using FCP 3.1 and iDVD 5.
I am editing an anamorphic sequence of PAL DV footage captured from a Panasonic hvx202 - recorded to tape in native 16:9 DV.
I want to export this sequence from FCP in a format for iDVD.
In order for a DVD player to replay in a 16:9 ratio I understand I need export as 720 x 405 ... that is, 'stretch' the image back to 16:9? ... Yes?
    I can see two options:
    1. Create Final Cut Pro movie:
    a. I assume I make a Self Contained movie?
    b. Do I use a Custom 16:9 setting of 720 x 405
    c. Do I leave the anamorphic 16:9 button unchecked?
    d. Do I use DV PAL compression? Or No compression?
    e. I assume motion settings would be 25 fps?
    2. Export as a Quicktime movie
I assume I use the Options settings and so:
    a. Do I compress as Video, DV PAL, or none?
    b. I assume motion settings would be 25 fps?
    c. There is a default checked box for a keyframe every 24 frames: necessary? should it be 25 frames?
    d. I assume I set the Size to 720 x 405 ?
    e. Do I de-select "Prepare for Internet Streaming" ?
    Help will be greatly appreciated,
    Bill

First, your FCP sequence has to be 16:9.
In order to get iDVD5 to letterbox your footage you need to export from FCP using quicktime conversion (not quicktime movie)
Change the size to either NTSC or PAL 16:9 (I think it only gives you 1 option for NTSC or PAL 16:9) and under settings change the compression to match your project.
For some reason QuicktimePro and iDVD don't see the anamorphic flag created in FCP for Quicktime movie.

  • Chapter markers causing iDVD encoding error

    TIP:
I discovered that the text used for a chapter marker in FCE can cause the DVD encoding in iDVD to fail. I kept getting encoding errors at the end and tried multiple fixes without success.
The solution was to remove the apostrophe that was inserted into one of the chapter marker names. The encoding worked at the next attempt.
Moral of the story - change the text in iDVD and not in FCE (or at least be careful in FCE).
    Cheers!

    Peter,
    Welcome to the iDVD forum!
Make sure all your iMovies have sound tracks.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301876
And I'd try creating a new user and see if that user can successfully burn the project. You will need to move the project and assets to a public folder.
Make sure you have 20GB free on your startup drive.

  • Poster frame for chapter marker

In many of my productions the best place for a chapter marker isn't the best place for the vidoe to show up within a drop zone. Is there a way of keeping a chapter marker at a given timeline location but assign a different frame from the chapter to represent it on a DVD chapter chooser.
    Andy

And now I am having trouble importing my chapter markers. The export fine to QT from FCP, they show on the lower R of QT. But when importing the movie into iDVD (haven't tried DVDSP yet) they do not show. My preferences indicates to ask about importing the markers - which it doesn't. And I tried import markers- which it didn't. So1) Any thoughts on what this issue is and 2) how do I change the chapter poster frame for a chapter marker within DVDSP?

  • Wrong picture ICON for chapter MARKER!

I'm trying to make a wedding DVD for a friend, I've never had a problem before but it won't play the correct chapter thumbnail in the template that matches the correct marker made. I'm using "silver wedding".
I edited it in FCP using chapter markers, at first they wouldn't even load correctly when I put it in iDVD (only the words, no picture at all) now I got it to work by turning off the "loop" but now 2 of the 15 chapters show the WRONG thumbnail icon that goes with that chapter. It's completely arbitrary, I see no logical pattern. And here's the funny part, when I select that chapter, it's the correct chapter, just showing the wrong picture icon for that chapter. Any thoughts?

    Hi
    My thoughts
    a. Trash iDVD pref file
    b. In FCP - NO Chapter mark at the very beginning ! iDVD Has to do this by it self.
    c. From FCP I do
    • Export out as a QuickTime .mov file (Chapter marks set to be exported !)
    • Not self contained (not important but saves time and space)
    • NO QuickTime Conversion - IMPORTANT
    d. There is an iDVD BUG ! If You make an iDVD project - then go back to movie
to alter/correct - iDVD will notice and ask to Update or Cancel - NEITHER WORKS
Medicine - Start a new iDVD project and re-do.
    e. Try another theme - to figure out if this can be the culprit
    f. free space on internal start-up hard disk > 25Gb ?

  • IDVD will not recognize iMovie chapter marker updates

I have also posted this to the iDVD forum. I am authoring a video in iMovie 6.0.3, have marked about 24 chapters in it, and and have put it into iDVD 6. I wanted to move one marker by a few seconds, so I removed it in iMovie, and added a new one where I wanted it to be. I re-opened the file in iDVD and it asked me if I wanted to accept the modifications to the iMovie file, to which I responded yes. It is bad enough that doing so wipes out the careful edits I had done for the pictures on all the chapter buttons (I am using "Reflection Dark" theme), but worse than that, iDVD simply refuses to accept the new chapter marker, and clicking on its button instead takes me to the next chapter. So there are now two adjacent buttons going to the same chapter marker, and none going to this modified one. This is simply absurd. Does anyone know how to get round this, and make iDVD accept the chapter marker changes?

Those are the only two apps that I'm aware of for the Mac for burning video DVDs.  There was DVD Studio Pro at one time but that's no longer available.
Just did a Google search and found this hit: How to Burn HD Video to DVD on Mac OS X. Its site indicates that there are menu selections.  If you try it and it's successfull be sure to post back with the results.

  • Export with chapter marker to iDVD

Ok something has slipped from my memory.
I'm trying to create a DVD of my recent project. I created 12 chapter markers with the first being 00:00:15:01 into it. I exported it to Quicktime movie (not conversion) I selected add Audio and Video and include Chapter Markers. I made it not self contained. But no chapters appeared in iDVD? I tried including All Markers and also tried including Studio Pro markers without success.
    Any suggestions?
    John

I've exported a sequence with chapter markers using Quicktime conversion and all the chapter markers show up except for the last one. Looking back at the original sequence in FCE, this last chapter marker is the only one that is a pink marker on the clip rather than a green marker on the timeline. I've tried several times to delete this chapter marker and re-create it. Each time, it reappears as a pink marker tied to the clip. Is there a way to force it into the timeline? The only difference between this chapter marker and the others is this one is located at the beginning of the credits at the end of a movie which were created using the Boris plug-in for a scrolling title. All the others appear correctly in the timeline were tied to normal video clips.
Would the fact that I'm creating a chapter marker in the part of the sequence created using the plug-in cause the marker to behave differently?
