FCP continuous crashing post v 6.06
FCP has been continuously crashing since v 6.06. I took a snap of my activity monitor - but couldn't post it. It is showing that FCP2 is using 16,777,216TB of real memory and 3.07 virtual. The machine has 8G on board. Not sure what FCP consumes - but in a relative sense, it is a lot more than any of the other apps in view. I don't think there is anything corrupt in the timeline as it worked flawlessly up until the last week. There never seems to be anything that is identifiable as to what triggers the crash. They seem random. Any idea, from this descriptive, what might be going on? I hate to re-install unless necessary and in the middle of a deadlined project... Someone mentioned that I could try going back to a previous version of FCP and see if that helped? Any validity to that? If so, how do you do it?

Proxy comes with FCP 7, right. And even if you had FCP 7, if you want to capture HDV as any other ProRes option, you really need a capture card. ProRes via firewire has lots of issues...
1) New clip for every camera start/stop
2) Inability to recapture the footage if you ever lost the footage: Hard drive failure, corruption, etc. You will not be able to rebuild a cut if your footage is lost. That is a HUGE thing
3) Not full raster ProRes. not 1920x1080, but 1440x1080. Same as HDV, but some report issues using this in COLOR, or trying to mix with other formats that are full raster ProRes.
4) You aren't cool until you have a capture card attached to your system. You just don't look professional enough. PLUS, you don't have ANY WAY to monitor your footage and see what it really looks like. Get a capture card. everyone is doing it!

Fcp 7 crashes continually while trying to share to blu ray
I'm trying to burn a video to blu ray, but FCP 7 crashes continually while trying to convert the file. I've tried restarting, but the same problem persists. The video is 14 minutes long.
I don't know precisely what your max length would be for DVD-5, but according to Compressor, the preset is 30Mbs - in which case, you're pushing it. Try exporting as QT, taking the QT into Compressor and dropping the bit rate a little to see whether it will then fit.

FCP continues to crash when trying to Log and Transfer.
Using the same Canon Vixia, trying to transfer new video onto the same RAID and either nothing is getting transferred or I have to start a new project to finally get FCP to transfer but during all this, FCP keeps crashing at different steps along the way. So, how do I determine if it is FCP, or the RocketRaid card, or the RAID or just gremlins? Kind of in a panic right now even thought all the video is finally transferred but I am on a quest of 'why?' now. Any help is always appreciated.
I'm having similar problems, though was able to get it to work for a while. It seems that after I installed iMovie 08 or the latest Pro Applications update, FCP crashes as soon as I initiate any transfer from my SONY SR1.
Did you guys find anything out about your problems? -
Safari Version 6.0.5 continually crashing
i have Safari Version 6.0.5 running on OS X 10.8.4 and Safari continually crashing. Sometimes within a second or two of going to a new page, other times while I am using it, other times while it has been sitting there doing nothing while remaining on a page for a few minutes. I have tried the obligatory Verify/Repair permissions. No difference. Yes, I do have a few extensions, like 1Password, AdBlock, and Gostery. 1Password had a record of crashing Safari a while back, but that supposedly has been fixed.
The crashes are getting intolerable and I have no idea how to narrow down where the issue is without uninstalling each extension at a time and seeing what that does. Tedious and I am hoping there is an easier way to find and fix the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks.
MCLaunch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Step 2
Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful. -
Premiere Pro CS6 continually crashing on startup
PP CS6 has been continually crashing on opening the program every time today - gets to initial windows screen and then crashes.
Have uninstalled program, downloaded and reinstalled but same problem. Crash report as follows:

Program opens up windows, followed by Mac spinning ball before crashing
Program had been stable until today - VLC was opened for first time use last night. I uninstalled it before reinstall of Premiere Pro to see if it caused a conflict, but same resulting crash.
No other software running at time of last number of crashes. Macbook Pro is my field machine and therefore has variety of applications for broadcast use (newsgathering use) including Audition, Photoshop and FCP7.
No third party effects or hardware installed

FCP keeps crashing when loading thumbnails from bin
Hey folks,
I am having constant issues where FCP keeps crashing when I load a bin with thumbnails. This doesn't happen every time I open a bin, but after I open say 6 or 7 bins. After the research I have done I have come to a couple of possible solutions 1= this previous post

The only thing that is stopping me from trying this procedure is I don't have another Mac with the VADriver, so I have to extract it from the OS DVD, which is fine thanks to the Pacifist program which makes it easier, but I don't know how to get the specific file extracted.
I also noticed that the guy who solved the same issue with this procedure has an older OS to mine, so surely with the new OS the problem would have been resolved??
2= the other solution seems to be to put the footage onto a hard drive with a faster connection other than firewire 800. But this doesn't seem right to me because the project worked perfectly fine on the old PowerPC Mac using the same external FW800 drives I am using on this computer.
I would appreciate any advice. at this point I am probably wasting around 1-2 hours a day with FCP crashing and having to reopen the project to work on it again.

Sorry to hear of the problem some of you are facing.
The original poster mentioned that clearing the Dreamweaver cache file seemed to help.

If that doesn't help, John's suggestion is definitely a good step. Submissions to the bug report form go right to our engineering team for review.

If we can reproduce the issue, as David said, it makes it much easier to find the cause and get it fixed. If we can't reproduce, then likely it would just be a matter of identifying what on your computer or server is causing the issue. Either way, we will be able to work together to resolve the issue.

Continual crashes in Aperture 3
So far, the Aperture 3 experience has been very frustrating. I have yet to finish processing a photo without several Aperture crashes. I suppose the good thing is when Aperture starts back up the photo opens back up to the same spot before the crash.

Don't know if I had the same problem as you. On my MacPro (32 bit) (using the update disk), I updated my A2 Library to A3 Library which worked fine. When I imported new photos with ref masters the photos imported fine. When A3 started the "updating library" process, A3 continuously crashed. After reading a several posts. I found a solution. Apparently there is a slight difference in the trial A3 update and disk A3 update. The trial A3 gave me an option to select run as 32 bit in "Get Info". See if you have that option. If you do not have it then download the trial A3: Change the name of the installed A3: Install the trial A3: Goto "Get Info" and selected 32 bit. After that everything has been peachy. Good Luck. -
Mac continually crashes several minutes after booting.
I inadvertently posted this in the "numbers" thread" so thought I'd repost my same problem in the right group. here it is.
I just had my logic board and graphics card replaced at an Apple store. That was awesome, however, shortly thereafter, my Mac started to continually crash with it's grey screen. Sometimes it would crash as it was booting up. Other times it would crash a few minutes into an operation. But then there are times when it runs just fine for hours!
I have noticed that if I let it sit on the log in screen for a few minutes it does seem to run fine,,,however, it has also crashed while sitting in the log in screen.
Is this a sign that my boot drive is going? After all, it is over three years old! Or is it something to do with the new logic board? Any suggestions would help before I buy a new hard drive. Thanks in advance.
DougThanks for the suggestion. My apple care had run out a week before the logic board crashed but the Apple Store replaced it anyway. However, it has been a little over a month so I was worried that they may charge me. But it is worth a shot. Gotta have my Mac!
One person suggested it my be bad ram and I thought that it might me my hard drive going, but a trip to the Genius Bar could find it all out.

I noticed 'KERN PROTECTION FAILURE', which doesn't sound good to me
I'm running it on a 2x2.4ghz intel xeon w/ 14gb ram running files from an xserve in our facility. None of the other editors on our team seem to experience crashes as often.
Generally, I tend to have 1 or 2 crashes a day, sometimes more. It's now becoming rare for a day to pass without a single FCP crash.
Any help of thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Trying to delete wifi certificate in Keychain Access; continually crashes
Every time I try to delete my wifi certificate in Keychain Access, it continually crashes. Tried it in safe mode, still crashes. I cannot get my Airport extreme 5th gen to pass along an IP address to my Mac even though mac is connected to AE (seen via Network Utility). Thought that deleting keychain password would help.

Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if Safari crashed, you would enter "Safari" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Step 2

(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.

I have had continuous crashes of Adobe Flash since latest update.
I have had continuous crashes of Adobe Flash since Firefox updated 3 or 4 days ago. I uninstalled Flash thru the Add/Remove in Control Panel and reinstalled Adobe Flash. Ran Update and all plugins etc are uptodate. What now to solve the Crash Problem in Farmville, Zoo, and Treasure Island

Every time Firefox opened
== when there was an update a few days agoIt seems it doesn't matter as since update for my plug ins firefox as a whole as slowed way way down and running resources like crazy. Need to fix this. I have been checking around for answers and dont seem to find an easy solution or update to fix this so ff is fast again. It also doesnt seem to be just when on a page with flash on it. It slows all pages down. Once have like 3 pages / tabs open. Fast computer to so this should be fast as heck like it normally is. Thats one main reason for firefox. Cause it runs fast but now slow as can be as of 3 days ago. I updated flash, all plugins and extensions but still slow.
Anybody have any fixes for this and my like posted issue please share. I will be creating a thread myself on this as well so can post there to if dont mind. -
Finder continuous crashes since 10.9.3
I just installed 10.9.3 and immediately after the restart the setup assistant crashed. I had to force restart, after which the Finder crashes continuously, to the point I can not perform any operation.
I'm aware other users are experiencing similar issues, but I haven't seen anyone with the continuous crashes I'm experiencing.
Help? My Mac is unusable atm.

Why is my MBP Retina 15" continuously crashing and freezing within iPhoto as I flip through my photo albums ? This has occured all day now, with about 12 reboots and the problem presists. Problem started while sharing photos with facebook and now occurs while fipping through all photo albums. Have had additional problems with continuose freezing up and locking up in many other native and non-native applications, freezing all the time. This reminds me of window based systems !
Disconnect all peripherals from your computer. Repair permissions and restart your computer. If this works, one of your peripherals is the culprit. Otherwise, you should post in the iPhoto forum area in case your issue is software related rather than the Macbook Pro.
