FCP crashes when editing in XDCAM HD4.2.2

Yes, it completley exits FCP leaving the editor to recover from the autosave several times a day. From other forums it appears to be a common problem. I have tried everything under the sun but still no go. I am told the XDCAM format is process intensive, but should it make FCP crash? Maybe the editor is scubbing too fast for it, as it doesn't happen so much in other suites with same hardware/software.

The editor has tried using Prores 422 1080i and has the same crashing issue. I'm told once the XDCAM material is brought onto the timeline it is rendered as prores ,if this is selected. If that the case the problem isn't to do with the XDCAM format. Can anyone confirm this?
My next step is to do a hardware test as we have an almost identical system that works fine. Only difference is it only has 6GB RAM. I am thinking this one has been upgraded with dodgy RAM or incompatible RAM. The other thing that could be an issue is the Declink card. I read it could be conflicting with the eSATA card as though both like to have slot 4. The other difference between these systems is one uses the Declink/Black Magic BOB, the other uses the AJA BOB.

Illustrator CC 17.1.0 running on MacBook Pro i7 OSX 10.9.5 - crashes when editing preferences, user interface. Also crashes when quitting application. Anybody any ideas?

While 2 GB is the absolute minimum to install Mavericks, if you want to do anything with the Mac you need more then that. Upgrade your RAM.
Until you upgrade the RAM seriously consider shutting down the Mac nightly. You should also seriously review the items in the User Login Items to see if there are any there that you really don't need to have startup with your login to reduce the amount of RAM you are using.

  • PS CC crashes when editing panoramas or HDR made in LR CC from pictures taken by iPhone 5c.

PS CC 2014 crashes when editing panoramas or HDR made in LR CC from pictures taken by iPhone 5c. It is consistent. I have tried several different settings but does not get this to work. Seems like the import from LR to PS is not working as good as it did with LR 5 and CC2014. Anyone else seen anything like this? / Ola

    Hi again,
I have deinstalled all versions of PS and reinstalled CC 2014. Updated the Graphic driver to the latest version. The system configuration is given below, processor etc. After reinstallation I have tried several combinations of import from LR to PS. It does not matter if it is a dng or a NEF raw file PS keeps crashing when I try to edit the imported file. See attached screen dump. Stressful… I have now tried everything I can think of and nothing has improved the situation so far. / Thanks Ola

  • Iphoto crashes when editing scans

    Hi,
I have scanned some old family photos and I am now trying to edit them (they are jpeg files). I've read many of the posts here and have followed every advice (newest iphoto version, rebuilt library, etc.....) Then I built the new library with a few of the scans imported and a few "regular" photos.  Iphoto still crashes when trying to edit scans, but seems to be doing ok when editing the "regular" photos. Any advice?

As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos or each, both the b/w and color scans and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?  It you don't crash when editing in the test library then your current library is damaged.
If that's the case apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Frequent crashes when editing master pages in FM 11

I've been creating new templates in FM 11.0.1.382, and am getting a lot of crashes when editing master pages. Like after every few edits, FM crashes either when I make an edit or save the file. Usually, it's the "FrameMaker 11 has stopped working" crash. Browsing the web I see that others are having this trouble too, and some have sent Adobe information about their crashes.
Just wondering if there's any way to fix this at my end. I'm on Windows 7.
    Thanks,
    Tami

A couple things to check. First, your patches aren't up to date -- current
rev is .384 I think, so you may want to roll that latest patch on board.
And second, it's possible there's a network permissions issue. I'd suggest
copying the template files locally and making sure that you own the files
    with full permissions.
FM often crashes when it encounters an unusual network or permissions
problem where it doesn't know what to do, and from the symptoms you're
reporting, I think that may be a factor -- just a WAG.
    Cheers,

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. • FCP crashes when launched

After the update to 10.4.6 FCP crashes when i try to open it..
Its happen to me before with the previous update but I found the fix was FCP rescue..
Now however FCP RESCUE is not solving the problem tried reinstalling and also manually deleting prefs..
If anyone knows of any other fixes I would love to hear from you..

So after installing the new update 10.4.6 FCP didnt not open..Normally FCP Rescue would do the job fixing this kind of problem but not in this case..
So my solution was to delete all files in the preferences folder and it worked right away..if you do not want to go to that extreme you could always try deleting the files that has something to do with FCP...but I dont have the patients for that especially after four days without FCP..

  • Fcp crashed when it reaches the end of tape

When I 'capture now' HDV footage to FCP 6.0.3 using sony HDV firewire, FCP crashes when it reaches the end of the tape. Basically, I've been working around the problem by hitting 'esc' just before the end, but it sure is annoying. Anybody else? Any ideas?

Are you using Capture Now or are you logging your clips then Batch capturing?

  • FCP Crashes when I try to open a project - just one project.

I even tried going to the Autosave Vault to open the latest saved file.
"Finder>Documents>Final Cut Pro Documents>Autosave Vault>Look for the folder with the project's name you are trying to open." Someone else had a similar issue and had success with that, but not me.
When I open the file it launches the latest FCP, but when it gets to 19% loaded FCP crashes and wants to report the error to Apple.
This file represents about one weeks worth of work, and FCP suddenly won't open this project anymore for some reason.
I made consistent backups, and even the backups won't work now.
How do people editing with FCP for a living survive if FCP does this??? This is unbelievable. If anyone can offer any ideas I would appreciate it.

  • DSR11 Not Recognised.   FCP Crashes When Log & Capture Selected.

I've recently had a quite traumatic period installing QT7 Pro to work with iDVD disk burning. During that period, FCP3 worked faultlessly. Succeeded at last with disk burning then shut down for the night. Next day went into FCP and found that my DSR11 was not being seen by it. Chose 'Continue' and tried to set things up through 'Easy Setup' in the usual way. Couldn't be done. Selected Log and Capture as a 'try' and FCP crashed, leaving me with the Desktop screen. Despite numerous attempts to create a connection with the DSR11, I always am getting the box telling me it cannot be found and giving the choice to try again or select 'Continue.'
I'm wondering if the QT settings were in some way corrupted as I shut down the computer.... I'd like some help in getting back the settings.
I downloaded the QT7 upgrade which afforded the correct running of FCP and iDVD disk burning but now I can't find any record of the prog and its key in order to re-install it. I looked in HD/Library/Receipts and could only find references to Flip4Mac and QT Packages - no QT references with numbers following. Since inplutting this post I've found that the last mentioned QT package is 7.2 so I tried reinstalling it but after going through the procedure it ends with a message that there were errors in the installation and that I should try reinstalling it again.... Well, after four attempts with the same result, I'm here, and on tenterhooks!
As an aftermention..... I also have used the DSR11 with my MacPro to successfully operate FCP in its normal way.

On the Apple website it specifically states that QT7.2 with OSX.4.10 (actually any system of 10.3.9 and above) is the best way forward for the most efficient result from my computer. In view of that, I've recently used their Feedback page to pass the information to them. Yes, I know it states that one can only use it for feedback and they will not entertain other than that but we should have the abililty to put back to them the sort of quandary I'm in over their OS and allegedly compliant prog - ie QT7.2.
I've now taken the bull by the horns, because there's no other way I'm going to get satisfaction with Apple's software which should be capable as stated, and I'm about to re-install QT7 then try once again. That's despite not finding those additional Receipt files for scrapping prior to the install.
I'll report back the result when finished and tested. If it again fails, Apple will get an official complaint regarding their software that fails after being bought when their advertising says it improves rather than fails.
    Thanks for your inputs.
    Ron.

All sorts of wierdness can happen with unsupported media.
Convert to one of the Pro Res flavors before you import. Either Log & Transfer if you have the card or a backup, or use Compressor, or MPEG Streamclip if you don't have evrything.
    Good luck.

  • HELP! Why does FCP Crash when Batch Exporting Freeze Frames?

I have been Batch Exporting a lot of freeze frames recently but just last week FCP just started to crash when I tried exporting. It will let me export one single freeze frame but no batches. Also, when I open FCP now some of the freeze frames I have made looks what appear to be like green digital hits on them. I thought it was a space issue but I have plenty of room and I've taken out my FCP Preferences and nothing seems like it's working. I have final cut version 5.1.4 and the Error Message Reads: "The Batch Export failed for some items. Please review the status column to identify which items had errors." When I check the status it says "File Error: Unknown Folder" which I don't understand at all.
    Any ideas?
    Power Mac 10.4.10
    Power Mac

Well it seems like it might be an OS or hardware problem rather than a FCP problem, however...
Have you installed Diskwarrior on your startup drive? If not, do it, and try launching it from your startup drive and then try running it on all other drives.
Describe your hardware configuration (you should really post all your system specs in your profile here). Can you change the batch export destination to another drive? Describe what your source material is, your sequence settings and the export settings. You might try changing your export settings.
This is not normal behavior and I'm sure we can solve this.
