FCP export in Blackmagic format.

I am currently using FCP 7. The video source is from Blackmagic converters(OpenGear Converters). Video file has 3 mono audio tracks with 3 different languages. I need to do some editing like adding title and stuff like that on final cut (this part is not important). At the end I want to export the file same as I captured from Blackmagic converters (OpenGear Converters), so that I can upload it though a video system which will automatic generate the video file into 3 single file with different languages. The cloest I can get is missing “Audio channels: 4” on the info. The system is failed to export in this version. I think I need to declarethat the audio has 4 channels in order to let the system do the auto run. Please help! I am wondering is that something I can set in the Composser or Soundtrack Pro? in order to export a video with 4 mono sound tracks.

First, what is your sequence ntsc or pal? ntsc is the standard for north america. and pal is the rest of the world (for the most part). most pal players will play ntsc disks without a problem. and computers will play either pal or ntsc.
You need to describe your workflow from shooting, thru capture, and editing. If you start with ntsc, stay with ntsc. If you start with pal, stay with pal. If you have pal material and need to create an ntsc dvd or vice-versa you need to do a standards conversion to your finished sequence.

Suddenly bad FCP exports...is it the codec?

Hi everyone. I'm on a work G5, so the specs below do not apply to the system I am on right now.
FCP is updated to 5.1.4 on here.
I've been making regular FCP exports everyday and as "Current Settings" and unselected "Make Movie Self-Contained". One day it just gives me bad exports to where the beginning and end are normal, but the middle is bad. It looks like it's stuck on a few frames and flashes. Is this the codec? Either way, any advice?

Hard to tell what's going on without seeing the footage. Progressive footage will have a slightly jerkier (is that a word?) look than interlaced footage particularly in horizontal movement. That may be what's happening.
Make sure that your field dominance is set to none through out your workflow.
Also, how are you monitoring in fcp? If you're viewing on a video monitor via a card like the aja or blackmagic, and you're not seeing the problem, then there's probably something wrong in your export process.

FCP export settings for import in iMovie '08

Q: What QT/ Compressor export settings do I need to use in FCP in order to be able to import the MOV file in iLife '08?
The reason for using iLife '08 is solely for sharing the movie to dotMac.
(if you know alternatives bypassing iMovie '08 ... be my guest).
Background:
I create my footage with a Sony HDR-HC7.
I capture the footage on my Macs (G5 and MBP) via FCP.
I edit my sequence in FCP using the HDV sequence presets
I output using FCP export to Quicktime. MOV file has HDV properties.
Funny: the captured MOV file with HDV properties can be read by iMovie '08 , the edited sequence with exactly the same HDV properties can not be read by iMovie '08 .
I tried a Compressor conversion to:
- Apple preset iTV --> no import
- Apple preset iPod video --> no import
- Apple preset m2v and m4v --> both no import
- Apple preset mp4 --> no import
iLife help mentiones that it accepts DV, mp4 and some MOV formats.
Q: what is the list of "some"

Don't have FCP v5/6 but with older FCP/FCE usually use AIC for crossover in MOV file container.

I have personally used DV, AIC, MJPEG, MPEG4, H.264 and i believe Photo-JPEG with which another individual indicated he was having problems. As to audio for these files, usually use DV, Linear PCM ("Big Endian" Integer), AAC, or even uncompressed. Avoid Apple Animation and Apple Video compression formats which will import/edit but will not correctly export. However, be advised that there are some caveats. E.g., a "Large or Full" slideshow export from iPhoto places the MPEG4/AAC data in an MOV file container which iMovie '08 will not import. However, if you use the MPEG Streamclip "Save As..." File menu option to save the same data in an MP4 file container. Therefore, would say that some problems here may be associated with iMovie '08 "pre-scanning" of files and possible minor bugs in proper error trapping on compression formats vs file containers.

FCP export for ATV with chapters

Hi, I have about an hour of PAL DV edited content in FCP 6, with about 10 chapter points. I've created my DVD and now I want to keep a copy for Apple TV with chapter points included. Can anyone advise which way to do this, as I've tried some options using QT export/convert and Compressor etc. but all unsatisfactory. When I get a good quality ATV export it doesn't have the chapters included. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Yes, I can see them ok and have managed to export in various formats with them intact. My problem is more to do with knowing the right settings/codec to export for Apple TV but with the chapters in there still. I've got good looking ATV compliant exports, and I've got various formats with the chapters in, but not both. It would seem like a really basic thing to want to do, but seems really elusive (unless I'm being dumb!). I actually started out in iMovie as it's a family video and pretty basic edits etc. but iMovie can't do this either

FCP Export to Dropbox gives "cannot open in QT Player Document"

What can I do to convert my FCP Export for it to be other than Quick Time Player Document format? I tried Streamclip QT, Streamclip mpeg 4, same message from Dropbox: cannot open files in the QT Player format". This is an emergency. I'd appreciate any suggestion. Many thanks

That's precisely what I do: drop the .mov file into the sharing folder I created inside the Dropbox folder which is in the FAVORITES column on the left in the hard drive window. It copied the file, but it doesn't show to the person Ii want to share it with. And it doesn't show a Blue or Green icon to say if it synched up with the computer. Do you have any idea of what's going on? Many thanks.

URGENT - FCP exporting for UK broadcast

Hi everyone,
I have a really urgent question that I'm hoping someone in the know can answer - it concerns exporting PAL 16:9 video (with audio) from FCP, in such a format/compression that is acceptable for UK broadcast.
I have recently started a video production business, and we've just been asked (at short notice) to film & export footage for broadcast on regional news in the UK (it only broadcasts in SD - so we've filmed in SD. It's going out on the BBC and ITV). It was filmed on a Canon XH-A1s, and the audio was recorded with a Rode NTG-2. We've got it all shot, captured and edited, and we now need to render it out.
Thing is, we're faced with so many compression options, we don't know which one to choose! We've only ever really used H.264 .mov for web/YouTube videos, so we're totally new to the concept of exporting for broadcast. I assume it needs to be as uncompressed/high quality as possible? Or is there something totally different I should be thinking about?
If someone can please do me a huge favour by providing the correct export settings for this situation, I would love you forever. Also, would the same principle apple if the footage is in HD, or would it require different settings?

Crystal report : Export to Text format from BI Launch pad

Hi,
We are facing issue in exporting the Crystal report to text format option from BI Launch pad view mode. Currently BI launch pad doesn’t support export to Text format option for crystal report in view mode. But export to text format option is feasible in schedule mode. But customer is not interested in exporting the reports through schedule mode.
Please advise, if we have any alternative way of exporting the crystal report to text format option from BI Launch pad.

Export to Text format

When a report is exported to Text format, trailing spaces do not appear in the exported file.
How do you resolve this issue?
1. Create a report.
2. Include 3 fields
3. Export ->txt
After the end of 3rd field we require 200 spaces...any idea...

Try to insert a new formula after the third field like this
space(200)
or try to create a formula for the third field like this
+space(200)
and place this formula in the place of the third field and export to text file.

How can I schedule an export to excel format of an OBIEE Analysis or Dashboard to a local directory ?

Hello,
I would like to schedule with an agent some reports in OBIEE 11g that must be exported in excel format to a specific local directory.
There is a need for a group of OBIEE users to have a set of reports ready (exported in .xlsx) every morning.
Furthermore, if the previous scenario is possible then could I deliver a whole OBIEE Dashboard with the same way?
Any input will be appreciated.

As of now , we are not able to save the report in shared location in Linux /Unix.

Export to Excel format changed after update to new Office

I am using the XL export format as an intermediate step to some complex calculations and ties that are not supported in my legacy system. To get what I want I simply used a CR XI report to create a mid way data file and then used a second report to crunch the final numbers from the data file. Its a long painful story as to exactly why I have to do it this way... not my choice.
Prior to the update when I exported more than ~65k lines to an XL format they remained in one sheet. So the second report would grab all the data and go... Now, after the update of office, the report gets split into seperate sheets each of ~65k records long and the second report sees each sheet as a seperate data table! I'm pushing over 1.25 million records into less than 400k in the mid data file so I'm getting about 7 sheets instead of the original 1.
I have a lot of work and time invested in this method so I would like to fix it so it still works in the previous manner... I have tried to export to a different format, but it seems that CR XI cannot export to a format that it can also read in... at least that I have found and not without creating a whole new DB for it to export into (Access). I cannot unroll the new office either as it is already enterprise wide...
Reomendations? Suggestions? Should I simply go get a few cases of Dr. Pepper and tell my wife I wont be home this week and re write everything (no plan on how I'd do that either...)?

ORA-06502 Error while exporting to xls format

While Exporting to xls format, the ORA-06502 crops up in the exported file.
The print server is BI Publisher.
The report has around 50 columns.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What exactly is different between PDF and excel?

Adding to the John comments,
If you export the database in the column format the size of the export file will be much more than the data in the cubes.
I had an experience where I used to export the data in column format which results in a file which was
twice the size of the file without the column format.
If you have a lot of data in essbase cubes, I advice you to export data in non columnar format in order to save the disk space.

Reports exported to Excel - Formatting issues

We have two Business Objects Enterprise servers (boxi r2 and boxi r3.1 sp3) running side by side. We find that reports created using boxi r2 and exported to Excel format look fine. When we run the same report and export to excel using boxi r3.1 sp3, we encounter the following formatting issues:

<li>All columns do not fit on pages. The last 2 to 3 columns spill over onto extra pages.</li>
<li>There are some columns where most of the values are blank, but when a row is exported that has a value in that column, all subsequent column positions for that row shift.</li>
<li>All rows do not fit on page. The last two rows flow onto a new page, then there seems to be a page break.</li>
<li>On some reports dates are displayed as ######.</li>
<li>On some reports column headings are not centered.</li>
<li>I would appreciate any input that would help us determine a fix for the formatting issues we are encountering.</li>
</ol>
The report is executed using CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.
Here is the code from the application that does the export:

Umm, the code you provided has nothing to do with Business Objects Enterprise...(?). So, I'm a bit confused by the mention of BOE and "The report is executed using CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine" in essentially one paragraph.
