FCP FREEZING ALL OF A SUDDEN
I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I have only been using FCP for a short while and it has been working great up until now.
I have started on a number of projects where the footage has been captured through LiveCapture Plus.
I have purchased a CHV plugins package and have been using their filters for these projects.
The projects are quite short (5-6 mins) but have a lot of chromo keying, motion ect...
Since I have started these projects FCP is freezing every 15-20 mins while working on the projcets - it does not freeze up the whole system, FCP simply shuts down. Is is possible that either capturing with LiveCapture instead of FCP is causing the freezing?? or that using the CHV plugins are causing a problem?? Since I had no problems before starting these projects.
I had major freezing problems with Adobe Premiere on the PC but was told that was normal and that PCs are quite unstable. But I didn't expect it with the Mac. Any suggestions?? Pleeeze!!

My wife has been lightly using an a200 for about 18 mos. All of a sudden it freezes after about 10 mins. Running Vista, and she uses Word, Facebook and Firefox to surf. I've run three different virus scans, checkdisk. Toshiba defrag will not work, neither will smart defrag. Is this laptop dying, or is there a solution to this? My wife has been lightly using an a200 for about 18 mos. All of a sudden it freezes after about 10 mins. Running Vista, and she uses Word, Facebook and Firefox to surf. I've run three different virus scans, checkdisk. Toshiba defrag will not work, neither will smart defrag. Is this laptop dying, or is there a solution to this? Frustrated that it's 18 mos old and this happening. Thanks for any help. deanm

Safari makes my macbook freeze all of a sudden ?
A few days ago I started experiencing problems with my Macbook. It was working fine until I shut it off. I turned it back on again and it would not go past the blue screen that appears right before everything starts up, even though there was a cursor on the screen. I tried holding the power button down and restarting it, but the same thing kept happening. I had to go to school right away, so I tried unplugging the adapter and letting the battery drain out with the computer open and on. However when I got home several hours later, the blue screen was still there and it didn't seem like I had removed the adapter at all. The next thing I tried doing was reinstalling Mac OS-X operating system onto the computer and updating some software. This seemed to work fine, until the next day when I was watching a video on the internet. My computer all of a sudden froze up to the point where Finder was frozen and I couldn't force quit anything anymore, so I had to hold the power button and restart it manually. This time, however, it would not leave the gray screen. I tried resetting the PRAM, but that didn't work either. I tried performing a hard disk test, but the results came back saying that everything was okay. I tried repairing/re-verifying permissions and the hard disk, and there were only a few permissions that had to be verified. I tried restarting it again, and it still would not leave the gray screen. After this, I reinstalled the OS-X software and it seemed to work just fine. After I installed the operating system, I deleted my web browser that I was using at the time (Google Chrome) and other applications that I purchased on the App Store. I updated the software again, and that took about three hours to complete. After I had updated everything my computer turned on and restarted itself just fine. However, after everything started up, I tried loading up Safari and my computer froze up for at least 10 minutes. After the 10 minute delay everything seemed to work. However, whenever I would put my cursor over the dock, it would lag. I think that Safari is the root cause of the current problem because every other program that I opened didn't affect my computer in this way. Is it possible that my Safari application has a bug? Is it possible for me to reinstall the application onto my Macbook from the applications DVD included with the computer? Help !!!!
Hi,
Try going to your Applications folder and starting it from there, if it starts then go to the Safari menu and you will find reset Safari there.
You could try going to ~/Library/Safari and ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist. Move to either the trash or the desktop and relaunch safari to see if anything happens.
If nothing then I would suggest the following.
1) Save > Backup your bookmarks
go to "~/Library/Safari/" (~ meaning home directory, user)
there is a file called Bookmarks.plist
those are your bookmarks, so you can back those up, but if you only drag the Safari.app package to the trash and EMPTY it you won't loose them or use Time Machine.
2) Delete and Download the latest Safari from Apple downloads here Apple - Downloads
3) Once you have reinstalled safari you want all your bookmarks back so Go to File > Import Bookmarks.That should allow you to import your old bookmarks. If that doesn't work for some reason, take that file and copy it over the new Bookmarks.plist. Also you could go back in time and reinstall your bookmarks from there.
As a foot note, I have FireFox loaded just in case anything happens to Safari as a backup browser. -
My dad usually helps me fix this stuff, well go figure he is on vacation and a day after he leaves, the computer starts giving me problems. im so angry with it right now i might throw it off my balcony...
The loading icon randomly starts spinning sometimes and wont stop, requiring me to do force shut downs in order to make the computer usable again. sometimes it does it right away, sometimes it does it after ive been using the computer for a bit... for a while i can switch windows until it completely freezes. i cant click anything, cant force quit any programs or anything, and i the spinning beachball never goes away! the computer isn't hot either when it crashes! SO FRUSTRATING! it was perfectly fine until the last week or so. im anything but a computer genious, but i ran the disc utility and it says the drives are fine. things ive done in the last week. done the updates that the app store was pestering me with, updated corel painter 12 with the most current patches because that started randomly crashing. well now painter works and its the computer crashing X.x
I dont have extensions on my safari aside from adblock. and i only have 2 apps downloaded and corel painter is the only software on the mac side of the computer. parallels has an adobe suite on it but Corel is the only thing that has gone through changes recently...
i dont know what to do... i need to work on projects and the computer keeps making me lose progress and keeps giving me frustration. please help if you can...

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. My LG G3 freezing all of a sudden

I really can use some help. My G3 just started freezing this morning and I keep taking the battery out and putting it back in. It will sometimes it will stay on the boot screen, sometimes it will start up completely and I can use it. After about 10 mins it will freeze again, even when I leave it alone for a couple minutes on sleep. I try charging it and it will freeze, the red light will stay on even when I disconnect the charger meaning it froze then too. Any idea what it can mean and is there anyway I can fix this. All of a sudden I keep getting message that my computer must be restarted and it freezes. I restart it and within minutes it happens again. This is a 27 inch iMac with latest system and software. Any ideas of what is wrong and how to fix it?
10.7.5 is not the latest system, 10.8.3 is. However your message sounds like a Kernel Panic, does the message look similar to About "You need to restart your computer" (kernel panic) messages? If so, then if you can get the machine to restart normally then please post the Kernel Panic Report which you can find by following directions in How to log a kernel panic. Please post back with the KP log, and we can take a look. However if the machine continues to not restart then my guess is a hardware failure suck as a hard disk or failed RAM in which case you should take it into your local Apple Store or AASP for repair.

In Logic pro 9.1.7, all of a sudden, it freezes at 'initializing core audio! Does someone have a solution to this problem?

I was on a website all of a sudden my screen freezes I was able to get out of that screen after a few second and then noticed all my app icon disappeared I have an IPhone 5. Has this happened to anyone before?
That is very strange! Have you been able to get your apps icons back now? Have you attempted a soft reset by holding the power button and home button at the same time until the phone restarts? Keep me posted with the results!

All of a sudden, when I hide FCP, I can't retrieve it!
I don't understand this, I've used this machine for over a year now, no problems, now all of a sudden occasionally, in the middle of this particular project, I hide Final Cut Pro, I can't retrieve it again, I click it on the dashboard and it doesn't return.
I have to force quit in the end.

If the only app running with problems is FCP I first would try resetting the preferences. You can use [FCP Rescue|http://fcprescue.andersholck.com> for that task.
Besides that I would do a general system maintenance running something like [Maintenance|http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/automator/maintenance.html].

In fCP x jpgs are blurry all of a sudden
no matter what size jpg or tiff
when i move the sequence the photo turns blurry
when i stop the movie the photo is sharp

if i keep the image still it is sharp

all of a sudden out of the blue this is a catastrophic event in my work productionIn your FCPX preferences, select Playback. In the Playback section, change Playback Quality to High Quality rather than Better Performance. Note that you may see errors regarding dropped frames on playback depending on what you're doing.
When you export or share your project, the images should export at full quality for the settings you're using. The blur you're seeing is expected during playback at Better Performance settings. -

I don't know why this just started to happen unless v3.0 were somehow moved from its location.
I once had FCP7 get confused between Motion 4 and Motion 5 when I failed to follow Apple's installation recommendations but never a problem with FCPX going to the wrong app. (But I don't use the Send to Compressor workflow.)
When you have the legacy apps already installed on your system, the new pro app download moves the old ones into a folder, named Final Cut Studio. That's what I was getting at when I suggested you create a new folder for C3.

I have a 24"imac Intel running Lion. All of a sudden I am havin all sorts of problems and I can't find a solution. I have repaired disk and permissions using install disk, done a hardware test, reinstalled Lion and restored with Time Machine, reset pram etc. Everything checks out. Disk Utility syas MacHD apprears to be fine. ***? Sorry, just out of ideas. And I'm out of Applecare. Help!
I was suggesting you run the test again. Sounds like it might the graphics chip going south. I think if you bring it in to Apple, there is no charge for diagnosis. But call ahead to confirm that. If it is the GPU, it will mean the logic board and that won't be cheap. But might not be that.

PPC all of the sudden will not file share, what can I do?
I have a PPC G5 OSX 10.4.11 all of the sudden I went to connect to my MacBook Pro with file sharing and I can not. I can see the MacBook in my network area and when I hit connect it lets me put in my password and then I try to click on the folder to mount it and my finder freezes. I relaunch the finder but still get the spinning wheel of death over the network window. I have looked online and all the forums say I have to reinstall my OS but there has to be another way, can anyone help? I also try to open my "file share" option on my PPC but it will not do that either. Thanks in advance.

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these files to the Desktop.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

Using Qmaster with DVD Studio Pro OR Qmaster requires FCP on all machines?
Greetings everyone,
After a few days of tinkering I've finally managed to set up a managed cluster. However, I have a problem (surprise, surprise). When I submit a job to the cluster, Final Cut Pro suddenly opens up on all of the computers being used. I have Final Cut Studio 2 under an academic license, and all copies report that there is another copy running with the same serial number and that they must shut down. They render a few frames before suddenly quitting the job, regardless of whether I leave the message up or OK it away. I've done some reading from this thread which makes it sound like all systems must have a copy of FCP installed, or to use a slightly different method:

It's a bit upsetting as I'd originally read that systems could aid in rendering with just QMaster installed, and that they didn't need FCP installed. Hence, having FCP open up was unexpected, and I get the feeling that uninstalling FCP from those systems wouldn't help me.
But let me explain what I do normally, and perhaps some of you can guide me.
My work has me converting hundreds of tapes to DVD. Without QMaster, I would import the videos in Final Cut Pro, set chapter markers and in and out points, and then export the video (with barely any processing - an export typically takes 4 minutes on a dual 800 Mhz G4). I'd then import it to DVD Studio Pro, handle the menus, and then do a build and format. That process would take ~2-3 hours per DVD, and that is the part that I'd like to optimize.
The setup is such that I have one dual G5 wired to our hard drives (all Firewire 800), and then four other systems that connect to the G5 to access the HDs through a gigabit network switch. This has worked quite nicely in that it allows systems that only have Firewire 400 to work at Firewire 800 speeds regardless.
I'd originally thought that DVD Studio Pro 4 would automatically be able to process jobs through Qmaster, but I couldn't find a setting for it and it didn't seem to do it on its own. Instead, I was planning to redo my work flow such that the encoding of the video (the most time-consuming part of DVD Studio Pro's build procedure) would be done in Final Cut Pro. Or more specifically, it would go through Compressor. However, as I mentioned above, attempting to work this way causes Final Cut Pro to open up on all nodes within the cluster. As they all have the same serial number, they become unhappy under such conditions. I can uninstall them from the systems as I only ever use one copy at a time anyway, but as I mentioned from the link above, it seems that rendering through FCP -> Compressor will require FCP to be installed on all participating systems.
Does anyone have any advice for what to do? Is there a way to get around having FCP activate on all participating systems, or is there a way to do it directly through DVD Studio Pro (ideally in a manner that wouldn't cause DVD Studio Pro to activate on all participating systems)?
Any advice is much appreciated. The distributed encoding is really the only reason why we upgraded to Final Cut Studio 2, so I'm going to feel rather foolish if this doesn't work out.A QCluster network isn't designed to distribute Rendering from FCP, rather it's designed to distribute encoding tasks.
As mentioned in that thread you linked to, the best workflow I can think of in your situation is to export Quicktime reference movies from FCP, then bring those reference files into Compressor for distribution to the QCluster for the transcode to MPEG 2 for DVD. There is a wealth of good information in that thread.
In short, if you attempt to use a Cluster to export from FCP, then all of your nodes will need to have separate licenses of FCP. But if you use the reference movie method, FCP is not required for the encoding.
One question for clarification with your workflow, are you logging & capturing these clips then sending them directly to DVD? or are you editing them in a timeline prior to export to DVD?
If you're just using FCP as your Log & Capture tool, then you can skip the reference movie step and just grab the captured clips in your Capture Scratch folder and send those directly to Compressor.
