FCP Multicam Editing Problem, Not Saving

i have been editing on final cut for several years now, but i have never had a problem like this. i am editing a wedding using the multicam function, but every time i hit the space bar to pause the sequence all of the marks for the cuts disappear and are not saved. the entire clip goes to which ever angle as selected last. if they is anyone who has experienced this and could help it would be appreciated, thanks.

Welcome to the family.
You're saying: A) you've been using multicam for several years or, B) this is your first use of multicam after all these years?
The section in the manual is explicit and a bit confusing but following the step-by-step procedure is absolutely necessary the first few times so you figure out how the thing is supposed to work. I think it's weirdly non-intuitive but they didn't ask me.
Remember also that multicam is an effect and will render. Once it renders, you must unrender to make additional edits. Needlessly adds to the confusion.

Premiere Pro 7.1 serious Multicam Editing problems

Hello, I am posting here because the bug report I filed one week ago to Adobe didn't give a result -no response at all from the bug department.
I have two serious Multicam Editing Problems.
PC Configuration: Core i7950, Asus P6TD Deluxe, 12GB DDR3 1600MHZ, Quadro K4000, SSD for the system, Seagate Constellation 7200rpm for video editing.
1. When multicam mode is on at the program monitor, I press play and the program doesn't respond at all. The timeline plays till the end and the program just doesn't let you do anything but wait until playback of the whole timeline is over. Then the program works again (no "not responding" message in Windows).
2. Sometimes the waveform doesn't even appear at the multicam audio clip. I read in other forums that this problem is found specifically at Premiere Pro version 7.1 (October release).
I would be grateful with your help.

The media is always a combination of HD .MOV (dSLR footage and .MTS (from my Sony Vg-30). However, I also tested it with .mpeg files created by "match sequence settings". GPU acceleration is always on, as I use nVidia Quadro K4000 with the latest drivers (331.82).
I always create the multicam sequences manually and the problem occurs with any amount of camera angles.
The problem was not solved by reinstaling Windows (7 and 8). In general, I have no other issue with my PC system, except from this specific one.
It doesn't appear always, however it will definitely happen if you press twice or three times the letter L, to fast forward the preview of your Multicam Sequence.
I remind you that this only happens when multicam monitor is toggled at the program monitor.
Did all these help at all to even reproduce this situation?

Edited photos not saving correctly

Sorry about the name. I am new to this program and I tried to join for an hour without success then my hubby took over!!! Now to my serious headache causing problem. After editing photos I saved them to my folder exactly as Adobe Help suggests, in Jpeg format. I can see them in my folder but the icon is blank and Properties suggest they are File format and not Jpeg. What am I doing wrong and how can I correct it...please?

Can you try an experiment.
1. Open Full Edit by clicking the edit button on the welcome screen.
2. On the menu click File à Open
3. Then open one of your images that has not been edited previously
4. Make a quick edit e.g. on the menu click Enhance à Auto Levels
5. Then on the menu click File à Save As
6. In the save as dialog click the dropdown for Format
7. Choose jpeg from the list and save.
Let us know if that is working OK.

Sometimes Photos edits are not saved

Since I upgraded to 7.0.2 I find that sometiems my edits do not get saved when I arrow to the next photo or when I click DONE. If I do it over and over (and maybe over ad over and over) it will finially take
I've reported this to Apple but was wondering if anyone else has noticed this and if anyone has figured out how to avoid it?

Yes, I have seen this, inconsistently. I think it is related to the same problem where altering Events does not change date range. I think this is the case because if I look for a modified image in the iPhoto package, lo and behold, there it is, even though I am still seeing the original after editing! And both issues are resolved by closing and re-opening iPhoto.
So I suspect there is a glitch with re-indexing the originals when they are altered or moved. They "tag" the folders in an Event split/switch, and they "tag" the modified when versioning. Metadata is not getting copied. My hunch. Also my hunch that this may have to do with the the new thumbnail skimming feature and the secondary "split" indexing this requires. The original or its versions are not keeping up with changes.

Multicamera edit problem in Premiere Pro CC

I have a multicamera edit project, the source and target timelines are set up as required. I've performed the multicamera edit and saved the file. When I open the saved file, only one track in the source file shows up in the target sequence. All tracks in the source sequence are visible, the file was saved exactly as it was when the multicamera edit was performed. It looks like a bug to me.

Edits are not saving in my contacts.

When I add edits to my contacts, they are not saving. Anyone else having that issue? How do I resolve?

When I edit any contacts, my edits are not saved. Why?

Any changes to my contact list (when I update email address changes, or phone numbers/postal addresses etc) the edit appears to have worked, but as soon as I back out of my address book, the change has not saved. Any ideas?

Multicam editing problems with RT

I am having an issue in Final Cut Pro with editing with the multi-cam editor. We are us-ing a G5 Quad with 4.5 GB of Ram. We selected 4 clips from the Browser, control clicked and chose "make multiclip". Then dragged the Multiclip in to the viewer window, or double clicked it to get it there. Dropped the multiclip to the timeline. Played the Clip, and chose our views in real-time. The video on the Canvas cuts out when we made a new selection. There were cuts made, but they did not show up in the browser. Then we had to play the clip back to get the cuts to show up. I know this is not how it is supposed to work. With the Lesson files in the Final Cut Pro book, you are able to cut and see the edits in real time. I have also seen this done on a less powerful machine than what we are using. Also I have the RT set to Unlimited, and Dynamic. Any Suggestions?

What do you mean with "There were cuts made, but they did not show up in the browser"? The cuts are not supposed to show up in the browser. Did you mean the timeline (your sequence)?

Multicam edit does not generate clips

Trying to do a multicam edit.Two cameras. When going through the process of selecting cam 1 or cam 2 the small blue marker appears on the timeline as it should. Once I have completed my selection the blue markers just disappear and no individual clips are made.
Any help will be more than welcome.

As Kevan noted you may be using the "switch" function as opposed to the "edit" function. If you're using keyboard shortcuts, then to make an edit to angle 1 means you would select cmd-1
If it's not that then make sure you don't have a locked track somewhere in the mix. I wonder if you may even have deselected the auto-select button (not sure if that would impact it or not)
Barring these suggestions you may just simply try trashing preferences, repairing permissions and re-booting the computer.

Multicam Editing Problem during Export Pr CC

Hey guys, first post.
i have been working on a pretty long multicam project (About 1h45m) in Premiere Pro CC
I was all done, and during export in Media Encoder i noticed that after about 45m of rendering, the preview window was still showing the beginning of the video. Upon further inspection, i noticed that the video appeared to be Looping. Sencing that something was wrong, i cancelled my render and reopened my project.
when the project reopened i could see that after a couple of edits, there were little white triangles and the top of the clips. I need to stress that before i started rendering, these triangles where not there.
And yes, when i played through my sequence, at every edit (camera change) the multicam clip would play from the beginning again. i have tried to remove everything after where this problem occurs and then drag the footage out. It does allow me to do edits again and it works fine, but i dont really want to spend hours doing it again, not understanding what the problem is and run the risk of it messing up again.
I am so very confused as to what is going on so any help at all would be awesome. Its very frustrating to work on something for so long and it fail during export.
I will attach an image showing a glimpse of what my problem is. (Please excuse the camera work)

The triangles indicate hard media boundaries -- there are no more frames available from the source clip beyond that frame. If you don't have a triangle on a clip at an edit point, then the source media has frames available beyond the in or out point of that clip instance on the timeline.
There are a few things that might cause what you're seeing, so I recommend you check your multicam source sequence to make sure that it's referencing the correct media, and that all the media in your project points to the correct files on disk. Double- and triple-check that all the clip instances in the timeline point to the correct sequence or media. If the problem is related to clips on the timeline not pointing to the right thing, you could save yourself some work by trying to fix that instead of re-creating your edits. You should also see if you have any Auto-Saved projects that don't have the triangles at the edit points and that play the edited sequence correctly -- you could save yourself even more work.

Multicamera editing is NOT working!!!

NEVERMIND, I found the setting that was turned off for some reason.

If you successfully edit a photo the modified copy will be created and saved in the Modified folder in a subfolder with the same name as the roll in iPhoto. You can check there to see if those files are getting created. If not, then you can try the following:
1 - repair disk permissions with Disk Utility.
2 - create a temporary library, import a few photos and see if it works there. If so, then your primary library is the culprit. If that's the case launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the first three options.
3 - reinstall iPhoto from the disks that it came on. When you do you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder. Then apply the updates in the following order: 6.0.4, 6.0.5 (will only run on 6.0.4) and then 6.0.6 (will only run on 6.0.5). Follow that with a repair of disk permissions.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. Multicam Editing Problems

Hi!
I am able to create a multicam clip, and when I double click it it drops to the timeline & appears in my Angles viewer. However, when I hover my mouse over the 3 different angles it doesn't change to the blade, nor does clicking the clips themselves seem to make any cuts. In short, I have a multicam clip that I can set up but cannot edit. What am I doing wrong?? Have the Pro Manuals & watched many how to videos but I cannot tell what I'm doing differently.
Any help appreciated!

No, MCs, as a special incarnation of compound, are great, I'm using them weekly, and it's one of the many time-saving marvels of FCPX.
But indeed, those 'multi purpose timelines' can confuse, esp. when you're not knowing where you're actually are..
And compounds confuse on top of that!!

De-noise edit mode not saving.

My photos do not seem to be saving in their edited form. The de-noise and touch up changes appear while in the editing mode but not in the normal library while other changes do. What's up?

Yes, I have been struggling with this for weeks... and the message from Madison explains it all...
You will only see this happening on large images because the iPhoto preview at less than 100% cancels the effect of de-noise. But if you open the modified image in a external software and display it at 100% you will notice that the de-noise is actually there.
The work around to have a proper display in iPhoto is to resize the picture to the actual size of your screen, and then start applying effects such as de-noise.

Multicam editing, but not "on the fly."

Using USB 2.0 hard drives I can edit 4 DV clips on the fly but only 2 1920x1080 ProRes 422 before dropped frames occur. FW800 will allow more.
However, I seem to recollect that muliclips can be edited carefully and slowly rather than playing and editing in real time.
Is this possible with FCP X and how would I go about it?
Assuming it is possible, would I be correct in thinking that more clips could be used and because I wouldn't be "playing" them there would be no problem with dropped frames?

Another peculiar thing has occurred. I tend to use USB 2.0 HDs more than FW and recently on test I could only get 2 angles of 1080i ProRes 422 to play without dropped frames.
3 angles or more choked the playback, but today I am able to do 4 angles reasonably smoothly though I get a dropped frames warning at the end.
I'm puzzled as to why I got the 2 very differing results.
Anyway that's all academic as by using the method you outlined it doesn't really matter how slow the HD is.

Multicam editing problem

I've been editing in multicam for a while. But recently when I play back the timline I cannot get the viewer to either play back the video so I can choose between cameras or it shows only the one Canvas shot duplicated on the viewer and does not have multiple angels. In switching to "open" it does not want to say and moves back to "sync off". This also happened before upgrading to 10.4.10.
So now, I cannot edit in multicam.
Any ideas?

First make sure the multicam clip is in the viewer.
Then make sure that your timelines realtime is set for multicam.
Then make sure the canvas is 'open'
Then make sure the viewer is 'open'
