FCP Studio 2.0 fails on install

I'm trying to install the academic version of FCS 2.0. I select everything in the customize panel, but when I get past the audio content, it fails on the DVD studio content. So I unchecked that, and after another installation attempt, it failed on the Motion content. I'm on a MBP 2.33 with 4gb of ram.
All the installer does is spit out the disk that failed with the meaningless error (installation failed) and request the first FCP disk telling me to try reinstalling again.
I've updated everything to the latest version, so I'm at a complete loss. What's causing the install to fail?
BTW, It does install the apps, and I was able to launch FCP (haven't tried to capture or build a timeline), but I want to be sure the installations is solid and has all the additional content. Is there a way to install the additional content manually using just those disks?
Any guidance is appreciated. Thanks.

If you make back ups of a corrupt disc, then you run a high chance of having a corrupt backup. The recommendation would be to contact Apple for a replacement set of install discs.

  • Re-Installing FCP Studio, Uninstall First?

Can anyone give me some advice? I have been having problems first with Compressor, and now I can't even open FCP. A friend suggested I reinstall everything.
My question is: do I have to uninstall everything first? If so, does that involve trashing just "Final Cut Pro" - or also "Compressor," "DVD Studio Pro," etc., since they all come together on the FCP Studio discs.

OK. Will download and try that now.
Here are the details: first Compressor just stopped working. When I tried to export a FCP sequence using Compressor, I would get an error message that said the file name was already in use. And then the batch would fail. It was frustrating because it came out of nowhere. But FCP was still working.
Then a seemingly separate issue: yesterday afternoon, I installed a printer driver using the original OS X disc. After that, FCP stopped opening. When I try to open the application, I can see the icon blink for a moment on the dock, but it closes again jsut as quickly. I've tried opening it from "Applications", from my project - nothing works.
So. Not sure how to proceed. I will try FCP rescue right now.
    Thanks!

  • FCP Studio 3 install on Power Mac G5

Anyone has tried to install the new FCP Studio 3 on a Power Mac G5 Quad computer? I have a PowerMac G5 Quad with FCP Studio 2 and want to find out wether I can upgrade to FCP Studio 3 or not?
    Thanks,
    r

Yes a shame about the G5 I had one until it went POP at the begining of the year.
Remember that any project created in FCP7 will not open in FCP6.
and once a FCP6 project is updated and saved in FCP7 it won't go back- so create a duplicate project.
have been playing with FCS3 for a couple of days now it's very good.

  • Sun Studio 10 Linux, RHEL3 U4, install fails on openmotif21.

    Hello everyone,
As a long-time user of Sun WorkShop... I mean Forte.. I mean Studio; it was with great anticipation that I downloader Sun Studio 10 for Linux.
On one machine it failed to install and on another it installed properly.
    Here are the details:
    - Machine 1: RHEL3 U2 (x86/i686), small install: Installation of Studio 10 went fine.
    - Machine 2: RHEL3 U4 (x86/i686), complete install : Installation of Studio 10 failed. The following can be gathered from the logs under /var/opt/sun:

And everything is removed. Is this issue documented somewhere? Is there a workaround?
    Thanks for reading,
    Vincent

Deselecting 'system supporting packages' from the Sun Studio 10 installation list made the trick and Studio finished installing.
However, I have a few concerns:
    1) Since Studio will be using the system's openmotif, will it be supported? (I guess not).
    2) Since openmotif-2.1.31-2_IST.i386.rpm from the Studio 10 IDE kits lands under /usr/OpenMotif-2.1.31 and should not conflict with any kind of other/system openmotif, why didn't SUN just create a sun-openmotif-support package? This would prevent a naming conflict when trying to install on RHEL3 if RHEL's openmotif21 is already installed?
    3) It appears to work fine, even without SUN's provided openmotif.
    Cheers,
    Vincent

  • Problem Installing FCP Studio 2 on SL 10.6.2

    Hello All
when trying to install an original FCP Studio 2,
the installation gets stuck towards the end. (around 95% of the first general installation disk).
    this has happened 3 times.
After rebooting, the programs seems to be in the application folder.
but they are missing many files and meterial.
( because i did'nt get a chanse to go through the other Content disks... )
did anyone had a problem installing FCP Studio 2 on SL ?

Here's a way to work around the possiblitily of a damaged disk or an intermittent dvd reader.
Insert your FCS install disk, make a disk image of it (using Disk Utility) and leave the image on the Desktop. Eject the FCS install disk, and create a disk image for each of the FCS disks.
Now, with all the images on the desktop, double click on the install disk image and start the installation process. It should take less than an hour to install EVERYTHING.
Once the installation is complete, copy the disk images to a safe place. You'll have them available if you ever need to reinstall FCS.
    good luck,

  • Do I need to uninstall FCP before installing FCP Studio 2?

Hi all, I have Final Cut Pro Studio, FCP 5.1.4, Academic version, and recently got Final Cut Studio 2, and just wanted to check to see if I needed to completely reinstall FCP, or would just installing FCP Studio 2, do the trick?
    Thanks

I'm still trying to figure out my plan of attack for installing FCS2 when it arrives today.
Randy, do you at least delete the apps before installation, or do you just put the DVDs in and go?
Most folks around here preach the complete reinstall of the OS and then installing FCS2...you don't agree?
Just trying to get all opinions here...you are cleared of any blame when/if something goes wrong!

  • FCP Studio 2 wont respond after archive and instal... please help

Hi I have been on the imac forum with the first half of this problem. Ill start from the beginning to give you some background.
I did a routine apple software update and when restarting my computer it got stuck on the blue screen and would go no further. After trying everything I had to do an Archive and Instal. This worked and I can now fully boot up.
However, after this process my FCP S2 will not work. When I click on any of the FCP S2 icons, they bounce and nothing else happens. It does not matter if I do this from the apps folder or on the desk top. The strange thing is that DVD Studio will open and works like normal.
Is there anything I can do to get my FCP S2 programs to work again and if not how should I go about reinstalling so I will not lose all my projects. What is the proper procedure for deletion and reinstallation.
Thanks so much for your time

backup project and all other work files
clean install Mac OS (this wipes the hard drive clean)
install from installation discs FCP Studio
    reinstate the project files

  • Installing FCP Studio Uninstall Express HD 3.5?

I just bought FCP studio(Academic Version), but before I install it should I uninstall Express(version above.) ? Live Type ? Soundtrack? I was planning on using Express on another machine so would like to have these programs on that since I paid for both.
    MacProG5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

You do not need FCE HD 3.5 before you install FCS. The installation for FCS will be shorter because LifeType (including livetime fonts (about 6GB) don't need to install. You can use both versions on one machine. However when you install FCE HD on another machine you may not use the program (FCE HD) the same time. Look in the legal information.

  • Install FCP studio to external drive

I want to install FCP studio to my macbook pro and install all supporting media to an external drive so i don't waste space. has anybody done that.
    thanks
macbook pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

As Jerry notes, templates can be installed on a non-system disk.
Pay close attention during the install process when you are given Options. A number of people have clicked through those moments without paying much attention and placed all there support files on the system disk - much to their dismay.
    good luck.

  • What to install first: Snow Leopard or FCP Studio 3 upgrade

Ok, I will be finishing a big video project soon and will finally be able to upgrade to Snow and FCP Studio 3. I was wondering would upon the order of those installations, and whether or not it mattered in terms of optimization of FCS's performance? So, being that Snow is a complete rewrite under the hood, would it be better to do that first then install FCS upgrade on top of that, or the reverse?
    thanks

  • Trouble installing FCP studio 2

During installation of FCP studio 2, I am asked to insert the Audio content disk 1, then I am asked to insert the Final Cut Studio disk again. After a couple of minutes the installation stops and tells me that there are errors and that I should reinstall. I have tried after a clean reinstall of Tiger. Does anybody have some advice?
    Boaz

    Try the clean install again.
If you have problems in the same place twice, you may have a defective install disk. A call to Apple is in order. There should be free installation support for 90 days.
    Good luck.

  • Universal crossgrade update from FCP HD to FCP Studio on Mac Book Pro

    Hi all,
Just ordered my universal upgrade for my MBP from Apple to go from FCP-HD to FCP Studio. My MBP has FCPHD installed on it. I installed it without being aware that it was not compatable with the intel chip.
Just wondering if there are any problems associated with simpy installing the complete crossgrade FCP Studio without first uninstalling FCPHD.
Or is it suggested to completely uninstall FCPHD before installing the new universal version of FCP studio.
The answer may ship with the software but I was wondering if I should start going through the uninstall process as I hear it is a bit involved.
    Thanks for any help.

When I attempt to install the 5.1 cross-grade on a newly formatted hard drive, that is also set as the boot drive with the latest version of OSX on my dual G5, the 5.1 install goes through the entire process up until I get to the part where it begins actually installing the actual software applications. Then it fails--quits- completely quits installing. And yes, both of my optical disk drives are working. I have another disk drive that contains the last version of Final Cut Studio and when I first tried to install the cross-grade on that drive it wont even get past the screen that says that the software is checking to see if it can be installed on the drive. I was told by someone at Apple Pro Applications support that if 5.1 would not install on a new formatted hard drive that contained nothing but the latest version of OSX that I had bad install disks. It's a matter of getting them replaced. I KEEP GETTING THE RUN AROUND!!! It's like no one at Apple cares. I wait over two hours to get help, but I really am not getting help. When I call Panasonic for help with my AJ-HD27H VariCam Camcorders, or my a Aj-HD1200 decks, they bend over backwards to help me. Or when I have a problem with a Canopus Editing System help is easy and reliable.
Is there anyone who knows from whom I can go for an easy replacement of these instal disks?????

  • Reinstalling FCP Studio

    Hi,
I'm having some trouble reinstalling the FCP Studio. My system was giving me massive amounts of kernal panics, so I reinstalled the OS. I then started reinstalling the Studio. I got about 4 discs into the install when I got an error message saying that the instalation couldn't be completed and that I should try again. I did that and got the same error message except much sooner this time. I tried dumping all of the installed Studio files and starting over, but got the same result. Could this behavior be connected to the earlier kernal panics or is this something new?
Any help or insight is very much appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Dual 2.5 G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Here's my update:
I was finally able to install FCS. I don't know what I did differently, but the last time I tried to install it, the whole thing took. So, that's good.
I downloaded Rember and ran single tests on 12 different chip combinations (Chips A & B, Chips C & D, Chips B & C, etc...) All tests failed. I plugged in the original RAM that came with the computer, ran Rember and those chips failed the tests. I set Rember to test to infinity and left it running for the night. When I came in this morning, the Kernal Panic screen was up. So, is it possible that every single memory stick in the office is bad, or could the RAM be failing because of a larger problem?
Should I download Memtest and go into single user mode to test the RAM that way?
    Thanks!
