FCP Suddenly Forgetting All My Saved Settings...

Started up FCP today and noticed that is randomly forgot all of my "Favorites" under the Effects tab in the Browser window. It also dropped all of my usual settings in the Canvas window. I reset them, then I've opened and closed the application a few times today and it keeps not remembering them. Also, my custom window layout that I always use keeps going to the default set up.
Any idea what might have caused this or how to fix it? It used to just keep all of those settings memorized for me. Pretty annoying having to rest them every time...

MacBook Forgets All Settings

The last couple of days something strange has started occurring on my MacBook. Whenever I reboot, my Mac seems to forget a lot of settings. It forgets what AirPort network I was connected to, my sound volume, the order of my menu bar icons, what icons I have turned off, my display profile, my appearance settings, and probably a whole bunch of other things which I have yet to notice. After the settings are forgotten, I have to manually go change each setting back to its original setting except for one, the color profile. I can't figure it out, but when I bring up the color profile setting, without clicking anything my MacBook instantly remembers.
So what's going on and how do I fix this? I can't really pinpoint what happened when this issue started up. The only thing I notice is my bootup times are now a lot longer. That's about the only thing different. So any ideas on what's going on? By the way, I have tried reseting my PRAM.

I have tried reseting NVRAM. On an Intel machine, reseting PRAM and NVRAM are the same shortcut. I also tried reinstalling the 10.4.7 Combo update. The first time it booted up after installation, my settings were intact. However, each reboot after continued the trend of loosing settings. I have also repaired my disk permissions.
Now playing with the user accounts has been very odd. The second user account so far has not had an issue, but it has shown me something weird with my current user. If I log out and log back in, my settings are correct, even if they weren't when I booted up. If I don't set my user account to auto login, my settings are retained after a reboot when I first log in. I just find this behavior very weird.
Another thing which I have noticed is I'm now loosing certain settings after a sleep. I loose my Airport connection, my sounds, and my appearance settings when I wake from sleep. It's not every time, but maybe 50% of the time.
Any ideas on what my next step should be? Also, does anyone know where these settings are stored? Are they stored in PRAM or the hard drive? Is their a preference file I can just delete and have it recreated on a reboot? Thanks in advance for any answers.

FF 13 suddenly forgets app tabs and history on startup

Something that was working this morning suddenly stopped working, with no changes in between.
I'm using Pinned as App Tabs, and have FF start with Show my Windows and Tabs from Last Time.
I shut down FF, then restarted it, and now it's forgetting all App Tabs and Tabs from the session I just closed. I checked my settings and there's nothing clearing any history at all in there.
Is there a fix or workaround for this? Was there some FF update overnight that deletes all the history on shutdown?

App (pinned) tabs and Tab Groups (Panorama) are stored as part of the session data in the file sessionstore.js in the Firefox profile folder.
Make sure that you do not use "Clear Recent History" to clear the "Browsing History" when Firefox is closed because that prevails and prevents Firefox from opening tabs from the previous session.

If you use cleanup software like CCleaner then check the settings for the Firefox application.
It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

WGM error when saving settings

It worked fine for some time now, but i noticed the roblem while i was going to edit the managed printer setup by editing the users printer list. When i tried to save i received the pop-up message writen above and i choosed "dont save", suddenly the previous managed printer settings was gone. So i also lost the old users printer list even when i dint save the changes. Now, i can not neither add the old or the new printers. And that goes for several other managed preferences. I can edit Mobile account creating, but not the rules. When i tried to edit the dock, after same error, both dock and login preferences got flushed out ...
Do any of you guys have a similar experience and solution for this problem. I really dont want to reinstall the OD server. ...

I faced same problem when i install my first MacOS X Server on my OD/AC integration implementation server.
If you tryed to add user from AD to OD to manage them, then you want to add some rules to those users. Firstly, you will not add them to Od to manage them. Probably you tryed to add rules to users from AC list. You couldn't apply your rules to user, because of you've got an error as you mentioned your post.
I figured out that problem to create a group on OD. Then added users from AC to this OD group. And then i setted some rules from preferences section of WGM. After all that management rules functioned properly.
I thing that, this method is gonna help you to manage your AD users over OD.

I had to reset FF. My toolbar with all my saved sites has disappeared. Never did that before.

Sorry, by saved sites, do you mean your bookmarks or your last set of open tabs?
When you use the Reset feature, Firefox creates a folder on your desktop named Old Firefox Data and moves your settings (profile) folder in there. So you can recover many settings from there (some easily, some not so easily).

You can use the Library dialog (Ctrl+Shift+b) to double-check that they're really gone and not just discombobulated in some manner. Check the 3 categories on the left: Bookmarks Menu, Bookmarks Toolbar, Unsorted Bookmarks. If they're all gone, you will need to restore a backup.
Consider: have you created any new bookmarks you want to keep? If so, here is the "four step" process. (If you don't care about the new ones, you only need Step #2.)

her contacts are connected directly with the Google Server so as long as they are saved to her Gmail account she should be 100% fine.. the only contacts she may lose are the ones that she added directly onto the phone and did not sync to her Gmail account.. so you should just double check with her on that

3G iPod loses all of its settings if untouched for a day or more

I have a 15GB third generation iPod that works fine except for one thing -- when I let it sit for about 36 hours and it goes into "deep sleep" mode, it loses all of its settings and it asks me to choose a language when I press a button to turn it back on. All settings are lost but data (songs) are intact. This drives me nuts because I don't like the default settings (no backlight, stupid clicking sound, no clock in header, etc.). I read about this problem a long time ago but I can't find a solution now. Can anybody help me?
By the way, I already updated the firmware to the latest (as of June 15, 2006) and I sync with a Mac mini.

Nice avatar, Lyssa. Good advice, too, although it's really just a workaround for the real problem. I've been trying to wake the thing manually each day but sometimes I forget. This empty playlist will work until I can fix the problem. Does anyone else have a suggestion?
By the way, if you're wondering why I don't just use the iPod every day it's because I'm giving it away and have a different iPod I use myself. I used this one every day for almost three years and now I'm giving it to my mother so it's just sitting on a shelf until I see her next. I want to wow her with all of the iPod's coolness but if the thing resets all the time like a dumb Windows computer, she won't be impressed.

Not possible. You need access to iTunes.
The passcode will be required to make changes to these settings or to disable Restrictions. Note: If you lose or forget a restriction passcode, you will need to perform a factory restore to remove it.

I recently up-graded to Firefox 4.0 and now I have lost all of my settings at the top of the page. I need my hotmail and muy bookmarks etc back like they were. I no longer have aol but can't seem to get away from it. Help....Marilyn

Thank you for your response, I went throught each and every step without any luck, even got the recovery programme, and painstakingly tried to sift through all that mumbojumbo to find what i needed. finally found the bookmark bit, but it had been fully overwritten :(, so on reading about previous ff versions, found the sqlite thingys, and they were relatively unscathed(partly written over, but saveable apparently TG), saved them to adiff drive, amongst other possibly good folders. Then looked up how to install them, and it said to close FF, and install to profile folder.
So i tried to close FF, and the original problem from a few days ago, where it asked me if 'i was sure i wanted to close this window as it has X tabs open', popped up again. This is where 'open blank page' selection was set, over 'open previous tabs'. Wanting to save that info on how to sort out these friggin files, I reset the Option to 'open previous tabs', and closed FF. After unsucessfully searching for the profile folder on my laptop, i opened FF intending to search online for where i could find said folder.
AND BANG, surprise surprise, the FF I had just closed with only tabs open about finding out what the heck to do, had disappeared, and instead my original saved tabs were up, and my bookmarks are there..... I am gobsmacked! what the heck just happened there???
I have made 3 back up in different folders now, of those friggin bookmarks. I am weary now tho of shutting it all down.... what if its back to the other pages I had with no bookmarks, tomorrow :(

How can i get my photos back after i erased all content and settings

Okay so i had a Iphone 5c and broke it so they shipped me a new one, And as i was trying to set my new one up the paper said to go to settings and back up my phone and then erase all content and settings from my damaged device, So i did. And for some reason i cant find anything in my icloud account.
How can i get all my pictures back onto my phone but the knew one? Is that even possible? Or can i find them anywhere else? Like how can i restore a back up? I think thats what it is. I just need my pictures back really bad, Any suggestions!? Please help me

We need to know more, to be able to understand what you have done.
How did you save your images to the external drive? Did you copy your Aperture library there?
Is your Aperture library referenced or managed - did you store the original image files outside the Aperture library or are they included in your Aperture library? If you have referenced images, did you back them up too?
The error message you are seeing, shows that Aperture cannot find the original image file. That is indicated by the yellow warning badge with the arrow.
If your Aperture library is referenced, you need to restore your backed up original image files as well from their backup, and then use the the command "File > Locate Referenced Files" to reconnect the image versions with the missing original files. Do you have a backup of the originals? If you cannot restore your referenced originals, you can turn your previews into new originals; post back, if you need help with that.
If your Aperture library is managed, and all your originals are included inside your Aperture library, try if the Aperture Library First Aid Tools can fix this:
Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library: Aperture 3 User Manual
Check if the "Masters" folder inside your Aperture Library contains any image files: Crtl-click the Aperture library and use "Show Package Contents". Are the missing original image files inside?

Tried turning off/on and hard resetting - didn't work.
Spotlight search didn't find them either.
Had about 5 pages of apps - now only have 2 so they're not on another page.

If it's disabled then it's too late to copy any content off it or to take a new backup, you will have to reset it back to factory defaults by connecting it to a computer's iTunes : Forgot passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support
Have you been backing up to the cloud ? If you have then after resetting it back to factory defaults you can restore to that backup : Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iCloud or iTunes - Apple Support
If you bought it second hand then had the previous user removed their account from Settings > iCloud (and had Find My iPad enabled) on it ? If not and the iPad is on iOS 7+ then you will have to contact the previous owner to reactivate the iPad after resetting it : Find My iPhone Activation Lock: Removing a device from a previous owner’s account - Apple Support
