FCP text not broadcast legal?

Is the basic white text generated by FCP not broadcast legal by default.
Whenever I do "range check/excess luma" I always get the exclimation point.
Is this normal ? Does FCP's text always have to have the "broadcast legal" filter applied to it ?

All the people in this forum who seem to have attitudes are also the ones who help the most people daily, and manage to do that while working professionally in the business.
And with that statement, you've pretty much guaranteed that nobody in this forum who has an attitude (meaning the most knowledgeable people) will bother even reading your next question, let alone be helpful in answering it.
Learn to appreciate the people helping you with your problems. It will make them want to help you again. By following the system that Apple has set forth in this forum, it allows users to tell who is most credible & trustworthy in their answers. It doesn't take that long to mark a reply as helpful or solved.
Then again, if you know everything, don't bother. You probably won't have to ask anymore questions, huh?

  • DW8 text not visible in design view

    I have imported a site from DWMX(6?) to DW8.
In DWMX everything is visible in design view.
In DW8 the text is NOT visible in design view unless I switch off rendering using CSS (Display Styles Off), but displays fine in a browser.
If I switch off rendering using CSS I can see and edit the text but it is not remotely WYSIWYG
The pages are created from templates and were originally created using DW4 or DW3.
    The site URL is http://www.decisionmodels.com/
There has to be a simple solution to this but I just cant find it.

    font verdana { font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; }
I changed the font from default because one of the old fixes I found for Dreamweaver suggested that...  I could change it back.
You are aware that this is not a legitimate CSS selector, right?
Forgive my ignorance, but what does this mean?  Does it refer to my font selection?  Or something else?
It means that your selector "font verdana" is not a legal selector.  It says to find all "verdana" tags that are descendents of a font tag.  Clearly there is no valid HTML tag called "verdana".  If it was your intention to create a rule that would allow you to format text as verdana, or geneva or sans-serif, then that would have to be done with a CLASS selector, e.g.,
    .font_verdana { font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif; }
Note the leading 'dot' and the underscore - spaces are not allowed in selector names.

  • Is there any reason to use FCP text vs. Borris 3D?

Is there any reason to use FCP text vs. Borris 3D?
    Thanks.

boris is vector based, and the basic fcp text is bitmapped. What that means is that you can resize and reposition your type in the control tab with boris without any loss in quality. You cannot do this with fcp text. Also, I think the dropshadow, kerning and leading options are more extensive with boris. Not positive about this as I abandoned the basic fcp titler a long time ago.

  • Broadcast legal?? whites, blacks, etc.

    Hi All,
Just read a Phil Hodges article on creating great titles for FCP and am wondering if and/or how much applies to Motion 2?
    Link to article: http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/perfect_titlesphil.html
Do we still need to have the same concerns about legal whites, blacks, avoiding saturated colors, etc.? You would think a dedicated program like Motion might compensate for this?
Also, I keep reading things like Phil's final tip about adding a subtle gaussian blur to increase legibility - should this be a concern with Motion as well?
    Cheers,
    ~Chris

Legal levels still apply in Motion. It doesn't limit you there. If you're concerned you can use the Broadcast Legal filter, but it is GPU intensive. Just follow the guidelines and you won't need it...
But don't worry about adding a slight gaussian blur - Motion anti-aliases everything.

  • SaveAs Text not capturing entire document

I am receiving PDF files from a customer.  I need to convert them to text files for import.  The first ones I got from them worked fine and the latest only convert some of the pages to text.  The PDF is of a purchase order.  The part that always converts to text is the legal text in the last few pages.  I have tried numerous ways of printing and exporting the information (creating new PDF from the PDF, save as Word file, VBA code, etc.) but have not had any luck.
I'm trying to see if I can get the creator of these PDF files (an outside client) to go back to the old way of creating them.  The people using these files are doing this on a daily basis and are not experts, so I can't ask them to go through a big process to save these as text files.  They'll just retype them, as they are doing now.
I examined the file properties and the only difference I could see was the ones that worked had the application listed as PScript5.dll Version 5.2.2, Tagged PDF = No, Fast Web View = Yes.  The ones that didn't work had values of Microsoft® Word 2010, Tagged PDF = Yes, Fast Web View = No.  The PDF Producer and Version were the same in all the files.  I'm not sure what would use PScript5.dll but another difference I found was that the title of the one using PScript5.dll was a Word document but the one that used Word as the application had a blank title.
I'm not sure if that's the pertinent to the issue, but it's all I could find.  I appreciate any wisdom you may be able to share.

Yes I can select any text.  The first object is a simple logo and everything after that is formatted text.  It selects within the PDF files identically.

  • SMS texts, not Imessages, on multiple phones with the same Apple ID

Is it possible that outgoing and incoming SMS texts, not imessages, could be seen on two seperate Iphones that share the same Apple ID? I'm wondering because I have been SMS texting a friend about a gift for my husband and I'm wondering if he was able to read them.
    Thanks!

Outgoing or Incoming texts? I was texting with a person with an iphone that is one the same network, if that matters.  But they were all green, so i know they were SMS.

  • Save as text not working

When I try to save a PDF as text, my document is empty. Also, it appears I only have the option of saving as accessible text, not plain text. I am using the latest version (8.1.2). Anyone able to do this successfully?

I have found this does work, but only with Acrobat Pro. You must use save as, accessable text (plain text doesnt work with the document that I have been using).
I have tried the SAVE AS TEXT option with Adobe Reader, versions 6, 7 & 8. I wonder why that option is even available.

  • Why is the text not the visible in the protected PDF opened on Mac?

    Long story short:
I've created a document in Microsoft Word 2010 and saved it as PDF. With the .pdf open now in Acrobat Reader 9.4.1 I have enabled the protection over the .pdf file by only allowing Printing and saved the protected .pdf. All of these actions are made on Windows 7 machine. Now when trying to open the protected .pdf on Mac (with Snow Leopard 10.6.6 and Preview) the .pdf opened only shows the lines and bullets but not the text.
Why is the text not visible in the protected PDF opened on Mac?
(is this bug or a "feature"?)
Note: the protected .pdf looks good on Windows 7 and it works on Mac if the .pdf has no protection.
    Thanks!

    A. What application are you using to add the protection? Reader cannot add any file security and I don't think the PDF feature of Word will either.
    B. Mac Preview has issues with PDF standards so there may be some features that you will experience issues with that have no workarounds.
    C. Have you checked the file after adding security to see if all fonts are embedded?

  • Why is predictive text not working on my iPhone 5s anymore

Why is predictive text not working on my iphone anymore

Actually, I just found the answer to my issue in this thread: The type correct/predict function for mail and text in iOS 8.0.2 was working fine then suddenly disappeared and reverted to the old style. I've checked all settings that seemed appropriate. How do I restore? I actually liked the new version.
Which says "a thin gray bar with a white dash in the middle of it immediately above the keyboard, you can reopen the suggestions by sliding up with one finger on the white dash."
    That did it.
I too have noticed a change, it seems with the new IOS update. My Predictive setting is on, but it seems before it would come up more often in predicting words and also give me a few choices. Now, it's not coming up as much and only providing one 'predictive' word which is not always right. This change is not very useful.

  • The text 'Not Virus Scanned' is prepended to my subject lines

In iCloud (mac.com) messages I send,   the text
"[Not Virus Scanned]" - it is being pre-pended to the subject line.
I hope that someone in the Apple/iCloud operations facility will actually look at what your
systems are doing. And I hope it is not the user named  "Winston Churchill".
    Background:
Back in August 2012, someone asked whether Apple was virus scanning emails:

I reveived a password protected pdf by email. The subject line was marked [Not Virus Scanned]. Was this mark applied by the iCloud server?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
No, it wasn't added by Apple
    See the answer in context
I have attached an email header (edited for privacy) to show this:
"Oracle Communications Messaging Server" running on st11p00mm-asmtp004.mac.com
Which is handling the messages, is running Fsecure Proofpoint, or something that is claiming to
be - SO apparently iCloud IS doing virus scanning, and has chosen to corrupt our Email subject lines
rather than simply stick to the conventional behavior of using SMTP headers to flag virus scan status.
The outgoing subject was   "Re: ...."

    ---- end of attachment ----

We're all just users here. Neither Apple nor anyone from the 'iCloud operations facility' monitors these posts.
Nobody here has any inside knowledge of under what circumstances any emails are 'edited' (if in fact they are) by any email systems between sender and recipient.
In 12 years of using Apple's email systems I have never seen a single email subject changed. However prepending text is not 'corruption'. Corruption means the data is unreadable/inaccessible. Adding a few extra characters does not make the subject unreadable.
All responsible email providers scan email for viruses. From Google searches it appears that such a message is added by some virus scanners to the subject only when an email attachment cannot be read (such as a password protected file, or a deeply nested zip file) and it serves as a warning to the recipient to exercise caution before opening the email. How many users routinely check SMTP headers before opening potentially damaging emails?
