FCP to flash file

Is there any way of exporting a small clip in FCP to an animated flash sequence or as a GIF.

I have not looked at all the export options available, but off hand the easiest way would be to export you FCP movie into a sequence of images and import it into flash, since yours is a small file, it should not be too big in size also.

Exporting FCP to Flash File

So I am creating an intro to a website and I want to include a video I made in FCP and then create links in the video to two seperate websites. So basically this website page is index or front page of two other websites.
I know that I will have to send the video to Flash to create the hyperlinks and page setup. But does anyone have any experience with exporting from FCP to AdobeFlash?

But many people just export as QuickTime h.264 and then change the resulting file's extension to .flv.

Using episode pro to do flash file

I am using episode pro in compressor to do a flash file, but on the lower third of a name banner with a red lower third, with a name caption on top, the name caption has shifted up and off the red background and now is not in line. ( its mpved the text up 1 cm from where it should be )
any ideas why? the sequence on fcp is all looking correct.

Yes it is. I have the HC1's bigger brother the prosumer HVR-A1U and I just received my universal final cut studio yesterday and just played a little, but yes it can. I have the 17" MBP and have both played high def. H.264 quicktime movies on it and have also imported some HDV content and that too plays fine. The only problem I have is that I went with the 7200 RPM drive so that I can edit on the go with just my laptop, but between the system software, and my document from my current machine, I was down to barely any space available. What I'm gonna do now is keep my old machine and the documents on that, and so I can keep the majority of my HDD open for video editing.

Flash files not recognized

My bank sets flash files in a Macromedia folder under ~\library\preferences. The flash file is used by the bak server to recognize the Mac (and avoid security questions) if the cookies are purged. I cna see the flash file right where it is supoosed to be. The time stmap indicates it was set at the most recent visit. Somehow the bank server doesn't see that flash file, so I have to answer teh security questions upon the next logiin. The bank IT department tells me the flash file is set by the browser (Safari). They can't reproduce the problem on their one Mac, and are blaming some unknown setting or feature of my browser.
Could it be a Safari setting?

**I downloaded a Sony plugin from Sony's website that allows you to log and transfer the material shot on a Compact Flash card (with a camera like the Sony Z7U) and bring that into FCP. They have the plugin for both FCP 6 and FCP 7. After installing the plugin, I was successfully able to bring in my footage. Interstingly though, I tried to bring in another folder of video I transferred to my hard drive that was shot on the CF cards and FCP gave me the message saying the media was unsupported and/or something was wrong with the file directory. I took a look at the folders where I have my video stored and noticed that the folder entitled "VIDEO" had a sub folder entitled "HVR" then within that folder were the files. One of my folders did not have the "VIDEO" folder. So I created one and dragged and dropped the other files into that"VIDEO" folder and like a charm it worked!
**So very important: For those of you using a CF based file system, make sure you download this following plugin from Sony's website: http://www.pro.sony.eu
*Also make sure that you have the outer folder named "VIDEO" all in capital letters. I guess it's the same concept as a DVD player not playing a video that doesn't have both the "Audio TS" and "Video TS files" even though the AUdio TS folder is blank.
Hope this helps out some of you folks who may have experienced the same quirk I did when trying to transfer the CF card video into the log and transfer of FCP.

Can you stop crushing blacks on flash files?

Can anyone advise a way to avoid the blacks getting crushed when creating flash files?
Here’s the current workflow.
Export FCP project using QT Conversion to H.264
Frame rate 29.97
Key Fames: every 24
Compressor: Best
Data Rate: Automatic
Using Adobe Flash, create the flash file at dimensions of 525 x 350
Results consistently produce crushed blacks. Here’s an example if you like here

not really. I generally make mpeg2 program streams but I would start with a very small amount, like .90 or something. I have used the gamma a few times and I find that it's pretty sensitive, so don't go overboard. It may differ depending on your output codec as well... possibly...
there is no waveform in Compressor, because it is not meant to be a color correcting app, but you can get a pretty good "eye" from the preview window. The right side shows your estimated output, and the left side shows the original. Compare the two until it looks good.
The other thing, you can set in and out points in the timeline of the preview window. So select only five or ten seconds of the highest contrast area you can find in your video, and compress that. You will definitely have to do some trial and error here, but at least each trial will only take seconds to compress. Once you find the setting you like, mark it down somewhere, or make a new custom preset, and then get rid of your in and out points and submit again.

Error while using Image component to display a child flash file

Hi
I'm using Xcelsius version 4.5. I used the "Image Component" to import a child flash file(.swf) into the parent flash file.
I gave the path "D:\246024\Loblaw\Dashboard Docs\New Folder\trend input.swf" in the general tab of the image component.
After exporting the .xlf into a flash file , it works fine in the system in which i created it. If i open the same flash file in any other system the parent file opens but the child flash file imported through the image component is not displayed.
Please help me out in solving this issue

yes, you will face the same problem as its still looking for the path of the swf.
you need to have the SWF on specific location which is accessable by the Parent SWF
usually web page or something which is accessable for all.

Creation of flash file from Device Central failing

Hi,
I'm currently trying to create a new flash document from Device Central and the application is throwing the following error:
Cannot create new document. The xfl template document is either missing or corrupted.
I am also unable to test my flash files in Device Central via Test Movie.
This function was working fine until a couple of days ago.
Has anyone had any similar issues? I am running Master Collection CS5.5 for Mac.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

For anyone who has this problem in the future, I have managed to get it working again by doing a complete reinstall of Master Collection.

In Flash. There is no way to apply an HTML link to a swf
file.

How do I use text to open two different flash files?

Basically I want to use a flash file, which requires you to enter text and a button to click. If I typed in 'Movie 1' and clicked enter, it should take me to 'Animation 1.swf', if I typed in 'Animation 2' it should take me to 'Animation 2.swf'.
I don't have the time to relearn flash completely even though I want to, I haven't used flash in about 3 years and really struggling to remember anything, hate being a novice

Problem with Flash file in IE

Hello Everyone,
I have a strange problem and I'm not sure exactly what it is.
I have a 1.5 Joomla site with this module in it

The site works fine in Chrome, FireFox and Safari but when it is viewed with IE I get an error and the page closes ( you have to surf through a few pages).
I know it is the above module because if I turn it off, the site works fine in IE.
The flash file imports and displays info from an XML file and the XML file reads from google finance.
Any ideas?

I'm not up on AS3 yet, but many things are still similar. You
need to use the LoadVars class to accomplish this, You can find
information this in Flahs Help>Actionscript>Actionscript
Language Reference>Actionscript classes.

Image items cannot display animated gifs.

How to Edit a flash file

Hi all,
I have a flash file, which I took from my website and want to
modify some of the contents and links in the flash file. I
installed "Macromedia Flash 8" and open the flash file; after
opening all I can see in the menu bar of my flash is "File, View,
Debug and Control" and could not find any control or tool to edit
the file and surprisingly rest of the other macromedia toolbar
icons are disabled. I need to know from where to start - How to
modify my flash file.

I think you need to check out some of the books, online
tutorials, course etc pertaining to Flash. Build up your knowledge
a little at a time and you will surprise yourself at what you can
achieve, you would also probaby build your own web apps and not
rely on templates.
There are many good folk on here that would help you with
your projects - go out and explore it - it's exciting - good luck

Text field is not working at first time after loading the flash files

Hi to all,
     In my Java application, I'm using a text field and a panel to load flash files. I'm using JDIC 0.9.1 to load the flash files in the panel. The flash files are created by Flash CS4.
     While running the application, I can't enter any value in the Text field, after minimize and maximize the application I can enter the values.
     This problem happens after change the jre version from 1.6 to 1.7.
     I'm getting the following exception while running the application.
org.jdesktop.jdic.init.JdicInitException: java.io.IOException: The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect
at org.jdesktop.jdic.init.JdicManager.initBrowserNati ve(Unknown Source)

Have you tried testing on a server?
When you test in Flash, see if you get traces when you click these buttons.

Flash files as images in XML Forms

Hi Crew,
Anyone had to use flash files in XML forms Based Publishing?
Have created a simple XML Project asking the user to select two images, and these are then displayed in an iView.
gifs & jpegs display no problemo. swf (flash files) do not.
Any ideas?
