FCP TO FLASH

I need to take a FCP movie that has MOtion 3 clips.. to the web !
I have basic knowledge of FCP and Motion.
I however, know diddily about the web.
My boss, expects me to be able to do this with some ease...
except i am not really sure what i am doing at all.
How do I take a SD project that lasts about 5 minutes to flash?
Do I need to change any dimensions before exporting?
I want to use flash so that it will be able to be seen directly on the web page...
Any help would be greatly appreciated !

Well, that means your boss will have to spend some money,
and you'll have to do some homework.
You'll need a Flash encoder, and a Flash movie player,
and you'll need to embed this in your website.
I would strongly suggest that your company purchase
Adobe CS4 Web Standard, which includes Flash and Dreamweaver.
It's about $600.
After you install it, when you export from FCP using Quicktime
conversion, you'll see Flash Video in the Format menu.
You have a lot of options; you can check out your
encoding with this freeware:
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
Here's a good resource to answer your questions
about dimensions, etc.:
http://www.proappstips.com/EncodingRecipes/
Once you a happy with your .flv movie, you'll need to wrap it in an .swf player.
Here's a great site to learn about using flash video players:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/
If you work through a couple of tutorials, you'll
learn how to cerate a webpage that includes a Flash player
that plays your Flash video.
Have fun!

  • Fcp to flash as transparency

is it possible to get a keyed-out (transparency)with alpha set to black, quicktime animation file from fcp to even remotely have anything to do with flash? i've already tried the stupid adobe media encoder and it still won't convert. is premiere the only freakin realistic route to take?

think i got it. had to go thru after effects. then i was able to use the media encoder for flash for the alpha channel to work.

  • FCP to flash file

    Hi Guys
Is there any way of exporting a small clip in FCP to an animated flash sequence or as a GIF.
    Thanks

I have not looked at all the export options available, but off hand the easiest way would be to export you FCP movie into a sequence of images and import it into flash, since yours is a small file, it should not be too big in size also.

  • Exporting FCP to Flash File

So I am creating an intro to a website and I want to include a video I made in FCP and then create links in the video to two seperate websites. So basically this website page is index or front page of two other websites.
I know that I will have to send the video to Flash to create the hyperlinks and page setup. But does anyone have any experience with exporting from FCP to AdobeFlash?

    I use this: http://www.on2.com/index.php?365
But many people just export as QuickTime h.264 and then change the resulting file's extension to .flv.

  • Making a .mov into .flv  (or exporting from FCP as flash)

I'm trying to get some short movies I made in fcp into captivate. Captivate requires the video to be flash. I have fcp 5, Adobe CS2 (no flash, I dont think), and compressor.
I tried changing the extension file name; it played on my qt player, but once I imported into captivate, it wouldn't play.
Anybody have inexpensive ways to convert h264 or any mov file from fcp into an fla?
I have this sneaking suspicion that I have the tools on my computer, but just can't find them.
Do I have to buy CS4 and learn flash? I'm going to do a lot of this- and while I'd prefer to find a free way right now, I only want to purchase once if possible.
    What's the best way?
    thanks!

You can try encoding with MPEG Streamclip!
It´s easy... and most of all... IT´S FREE!
Google it "MPEG Streamclip" download the Mac version... voilá!
There are other online solutions... try www.mediaconverter.org... but if you need to control a few parameters streamclip it!
    HBars
p.s. it´s not directly from FCP... export a reference clip and do it!

  • How to export from FCP to Flash .FLV ?

    Hello All;
Could someone explain how I export a Final Cut Studio project to .FLV ? I read many places that it can be done but I do not have any such option (That I can find) on the FCP File menu or File Export menu.
Currently, I'm exporting to Quicktime and then using the Flash Video Encoder that came bundled with Flash but I am not getting very good quality and I'm wasting a lot of time trying it over and over again.
    Thanks.

Then theoretically access to this FLV export option should be visible in other areas where you would perform a QuickTime Export.
In FCP, for example, you could go to the menu: File > Export > Using QuickTime Conversion:
Once clicked, an additional panel is going to appear. At the bottom of said panel will be a toggle that says "Format". By clicking this button you will reveal the other options available to you. With the Flash component installed you should have access to an option: "Flash Video (FLV)":
Once you've selected this you can then click the "Options" button and this will open a final panel where you can adjust all the parameters of the exported movie. Should look like this:
That is one way to do it.
Another way to do all this would be to build a Compressor preset. All the above export options, if available in FCP, are going to be available to Compressor as well. You could set up a preset and save it in Compressor, or even save it out as a droplet that you can drop exported movies onto. Simply dropping onto a droplet triggers the FLV encode.
One final "workaround" would be to export to H.264 and then change the resulting movies extension from .mov to .flv. This will cause it to open in Flash, usually. Flash Player 9 Update 3, released on December 3, 2007 allowed for the playback of H.264 with Flash. So as long as the end-user has this version of Flash, or newer, on their end—then playback should not be an issue.
    Hope that helps.

  • FCP and Flash Animation Integration

I'm doing some animation in Flash and I'm exporting it as a quicktime .mov file. Next, I'm importing it into FCP and when I load it into my timeline, the resolution looks terrible. It looks fine when I load it into my viewer, but as soon as I put in the canvas, the resolution goes way down.
Does anyone know certain exporting/importing settings I can use with this method of Flash into FCP? Thanks!
    Rob

Put your Canvas zoom to 100%, render the footage and see if it looks any better.

  • How to export FCP to Flash Video?

I am trying prepare videos from FCP for the internet. They website is flash, so the videos need to be in the correct format. I downloaded ffMPEGx, which has an option to convert to a flash video file, but the results are TERRIBLE. Can this be done within Compressor or Final Cut Pro?

You can export a web H.264 then change the extension to .flv

  • Get 25P dv tape footaged exported via FCP to Flash - Old chestnut

    Hi,
First I'm sure its here on the discussion board somewhere, but it isn't coming up on a search.
I have been roped in at very short notice to video a corporate interview, by day job company (on the cheap) this is one shot gig, I don't want get it wrong as I'll look very bad in my day job.
I've been asked to supply output in perhaps 1 of 3 ways, ultimately the video will be hosted on internal company website, as Flash video, so I maybe asked to supply Flash video (swf object?), MPEG (not sure what variety for conversion to flash by someone else (maybe), or outputting back to tape, to allow someone else to do all the converting, MPEG to FLASH, etc.
I've been advised it is best to shoot progressive scan, I have Sony V1, I intended to shoot DV tape.
Questions, I don't have access Adobe Premiere Pro (after my last PC meltdown, I went wholesale to Mac, everything I love it), so don't appear to have the ability to output from FCP Studio 2 to Flash (or do I?) or can someone direct me to cheap alternative download for converting FCP out put to Flash (tried ffmpegxx, doesn't want to work) anything else?
Compressor outputs MPEG, anybody hazard a guess on what variety of MPEG, would be best suited for conversion later to Flash, as the people I'm dealing with are none tech intermediries corporate types, who don't know when they should admit they don't know what they are talking about.
And as I don't know as much as I like, but am prepared to admit it.
Anybody got any suggestions on a good relatively cheap radio mic rig, for both corporate tie clip mic, that I can turn to use with handheld microphone later?

  • How to convert fcp to flash format?

I have a 5 minute movie with fcp extension. I would like to convert it to flash so that it can be posted on a website. Does anyone have any info on how to do this? I don't have to convert to flash - I could convert to another format that is easily read from web (mpeg?). Do I have to purchase a special converter program to do this or is there a free download?

    I use FlixPro 8 from On2 Technologies: http://www.on2.com/index.php?365

  • New MacPro Freezing when exporting to Flash FLV

Hey guys, Hope you can help. I have been trying to export some videos to an FLV file yet every time I try my MacPro gives me the pinwheel and FCP stops responding. A few things you should know:
I just go this MacPro for work (I'm at work). Specs are below. It's less than a week old.
I also just upgraded it to Leopard - It came with Jaguar and an upgrade DVD.
Also, my MacBook Pro exports to FLV just fine, which is still running Jaguar (it couldn't install Leopard correctly for some reason)
I installed FCP Studio2 via a transfer from my laptop during the initial startup of the MacPro.
Anyone had this happen? Now every time I need to export I have to transfer everything over to the laptop.

For those who haven't figured it out yet, encoding to Flash thru Final Cut Pro (doesn't matter what version) seems to be choking on Leopard's system.
I have a Quad 3.0gHz MP with 9GB of RAM exporting to Flash all the time and it works great...whereas on my 2.4gHz IC2D 17" MBP with 4GB of RAM it chokes.....
I did some research and the reason is simple....Leopard and FCP's Flash exporting do not mix well. On the MP, I'm still running 10.4.11 and everything exports fine...no spinning beach ball of death, and it exports quickly. It exports JUST as quickly on my MBP, BUT because I have Leopard (10.5.2) on it, it hangs.
If you check where the file is being saved on your comp/external hard drive, you'll see that even though FCP "Isn't responding," that it IS in fact still encoding, but Leopard for some reason doesn't like the encoder or something involved with it.
I know this doesn't solve the problem, but that is the reason as to WHY it is hanging...any system with Leopard rendering out to Flash will have this issue until Apple releases an update for the fix..

  • Converting video to Flash

I need to get right up to speed on this issue. So, does anyone know a website that has what I need to know, and what is the simplest most efficient program for either exporting from FCP to flash, or a converter from QT to Flash.
Also, for those in the know - what is the average meg per minute of footage ratio I should be heading for?
I am looking to display video in the size of about 4inch by 3inch or there abouts.
I have considered using QT, RM or WMV files instead of Flash, but feel Flash has much greater acceptance rate among viewers.
    Thanks - (flash newby)

The latest version of Flash 8 Professional comes with an FLV encoding application. It works very well and allows you to choose between the older Spark CODEC or the new higher quality FLV CODEC.
Flash standard will not have this application. I use the Macromedia Studio which does have it and strongly recommend it for anyone doing such work. If you are not a Flash user, just provide the file in DV or DV50 and have the Flash developer run the encode. Most Flash developers prefer this since they can make several versions (for different connection speeds).
FLV is an extraordinary format that will eventually act as a direct competitor to QuickTime, Windows Media and Real. It is built in to the Flash 8 plugin and is completely cross platform. I would strongly recommend using it in sites where a 30+MB download for QuickTime Installer is asking too much. The quality of the FLV encoder is roughly equivalent to Apple's MP4 or Windows Media 9. 3ivx MP4 and H264 are much better, but only work through QuickTime. The SPARK CODEC is older and much lower quality but more people have the older Flash plugin, so it's a tradeoff.

  • Export to FLASH 6

    Hi,
I'm asked to deliver a movie edited in FCP in Flash 6.
That's pretty much all i know right now. I use ffmpegX for my flv web content.
Is that the same thing or do i need to pass by Flash software in order to meet the clients demands?
    thanks for your help.
    tee.

Yar, someone asking for an ancient Flash codec is already in trouble. My experience with "we gotta have it in Flash" demands is the client is totally clueless, they don't know anything about Flash, don't have a Flash server, and they expect the Flash video clip to be as small as Flash animation clips.
I'd find out why they want this particular version and then try to talk to their Webhead.

  • A suitable FLV encoding equivelant for FCP

My web designer wishes to post undownloadable video streams on a website, he asked for FLV files similar to Youtube, he also said he can create a round shaped screen to house these streams.
I think FLV encoding is available on Adobe Premiere, can anyone suggest an equivelant on FCP?

Flash is Adobe's product, not Apple's.
So there isn't an equivalent on FCP.
However, there are several Mac flash encoders available on the internet
Just do a search and you'll find a bunch

  • MacBook pro over heating

MacBook Pro 17" laptop, i7 duo core processor:
I have my MBP well ventilated in an airconditoned environment, but the area around the MagSafe power and battery as well as on the bottom get extremely hot.
    Any solutions?

When things happens we always have that tendency to try to express ourselves in a way that everybody can understand without using too much technical terms. In reality what happens is that the fan start to spin very fast triggering that annoying noise. You're right, it is an absurd resource hog. The problem is that I work with multimedia stuff using FCP and Flash. This issue never happened in the past. Having that spinning noise hanging around does make virtually impossible to do any type of decent recording. I want to express to the developers of these plug-ins that this is wrong and should be fixed. Maybe if enough people complain they'll do something about. In the end I am the one that will have to pay for a new drive if the one I have gets over used and dies prematurely. I removed the battery to test if that has something to do with it. I duno! Let's see how this issue develops. Thanks for the heads up EWW!
