FCP Trial version collapses

Hi,
I have a problem with FCP that keeps collapsing.
I am a new user to FCP on Macbook Pro so I started working with the trial version to see if I like the layout.
Most of my video files are from my hd Sony camcorder in .mts format, which FCP doesn't support apparantly.
I converted my files to .mov to be able to import them, but since my first import the application collapses.
I tried deleting all events and creating a new one with new matrials to make sure it's not just a corrupt file problem but it doesn't work.
Currently the application collapses every few seconds, even when I don'y try to perform any work on it.
I would very much appreciate the advice of anyone who is familiar with this kind of problem,
Thanks
EP

This is incorrect. The media simply has to be handled correctly without having the .mts files ripped out of the file metadata.

How exactly did you do that? .mov means almost nothing. You need to give the complete media specs that appear in the movie inspector of the QuickTime player.

  • FCP X Trial version - Contour Design Shuttle Pro 2 doesn't work

I use an iMac with OS X 10.8.4 and the trial version of FCP X, which expires in a few days.
I simply cannot get my shuttle - which worked perfectly with FCP Express - to work with FCP X.
I uninstalled and installed v3.0 several times, it is there (I can see it in the preferences and the buttons react), but FCP doesn't react at all.
I tried settings "Final Cut Pro X" and "Final Cut Pro X alt"
I also tried to connect the shuttle directly to the computer, via connector on the keyboard and via hub - nothing works.
    I am at a loss.
    Would anybody please help?
Thanks a lot from Mannheim, Germany

  • FCP X cannot open project that I created in the trial version

I bought FCP X. Now I am trying to open projects that I worked on in the trial version but they will not open.
    I get the following message:
I already trashed the trial version.
    Can somebody help me?
    Thanks
    Annemarie

You cannot open projects in FCP. You need to update your projects and events for the new version. Read about it. Start here

  • How do I move all my stuff from my trial version of FCP X over to my purchased version?

How do I move all my stuff from my trial version of FCP X over to my purchased version?

The application is entirely separate from your stuff. Your stuff will be in either the trial version or the purchased version.

  • What's missing from FCP X trial version?

Hi, I'm using the Final Cut Pro x trial version at the moment and notice a lot of things missing when following an instruction book I have. Is this due to it being the trial version?

Here is the latest help documentation.
    http://help.apple.com/finalcutpro/mac/10.0.6/
The only thing missing in the trial version is the Additional Content. That is all of the extra sound effects, music beds, etc.

  • Adobe Premiere CC Trial Version "Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down." PLEASE HELP!

Every time I open any project in Adobe Premiere CC Trial Version, I get the message "Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will try to save your project." I can't edit at all and am totally stuck. Please help!
It's terrible that this is happening on the trial version as it's making me want to go straight back to FCP! Also - I've tried switching external hard drive and that also doesn't work.
    Thank you!

So, opening a new project works?

  • I had projects edited in the trial version and when I bought FCPX I can't find them.  Can I get them back?

I had a project edited and one I was currently editing in the Trial version, then when I bought FCPX I can't find it.  How can I get it back?

Which version was the trial version? If you just bought FCP now it's version 10.1.4. What that the version you used for the trial?

  • How do I continue editing a project from the trial version of final cut pro to the paid version

I have been working on a project on the trial version of final cut pro x.  I  bought the full version even though my trial wasn't up yet.  When I opened the paid version my projects from the trial are not in there.  I also closed the trial and opening the paid version and my projects were still not there.  How do I get my projects to show in the paid version?

I have a 'similar' problem, but your advice above does not work (or does not seem to work).  My Trail version of Final Cut Pro 10.1.1 expired before I completed my first/only movie project.
I purchased FCP yesterday.  Now I want to "import" the video files and the movie project (not sure if that's the correct terminology - I am still a newbie) into FCP 10.1.1 -  Please advise?

  • Can I import files fron FCE onto my FCx trial version?

Hello Im trynna decide on which editing system i wanna go with on my new mac

Technically, there is a way – but it's expensive and a hassel. The only way this can happen is if you also own Final Cut Pro (or are prepared to spend > $1200 to get it) and  a third party app, 7toX. Open FCE project in FCP. Then use 7toX to bring it into FCPX. (And a few things will not survive the trip.) Too much trouble and, unless you own FCS, too much $$$.

  • Apps 11i Demo/Trial Version

    Hi..
Where can I find a demo/trial version for Apps 11i. I have checked the CD packs and trail softwares but it is not available there.
    Thanks.

Yeah, the lack of a demo version is baffling. It's a rather huge investment, but then, I guess that the professionals who do purchase FCP are confident that they will learn how to use it.
I'm just small fry. iMovie was okay but frustrating in some respects, so I wanted to try Final Cut. I ended up getting a copy of FCE through a retailer who had an exceptionally good deal. I played around with that long enough to discern that I did "get" it, and so eventually I took the plunge to FCP.
That's what I recommend you trying. The place I got my copy of FCE was called megamacs.com (I am not associated with them, just a satisfied customer).

  • I have no share tab to share videos and get them in the right format for posting on youtube, is this because i have got the trial version, someone please help.

I cant export my movie, as there is no share tab and when i go file>share it isn't in the right format what should i do?

The trial version of FCP X is the same as the paid version - it just stops working after 30 days, so that's not your problem.
What version of FCP X is it, and what is the spec of the footage you're editing?
(Open it in QuickTime and press Cmd+I to show the spec in the Inspector, then post back with the full details or a screen grab).

  • Switching from the FCPX Trial Version to the full version.

I started a project in the FCPX trial version. The trial version ran out before I was finished. I have downloaded the full version, but apparently I was supposed to do it by starting the trail version.  Now when I try to open that project the trail version tries to open and doesn't know I have purchased a full version already already. What should I do? Is there a way of opening the full version and moving my project over?

I don't know what that means. If you have down;loaded and installed the paid version, double-click to launch FCP. If the trial version ic opening when you launch the paid cerise, that is very weird, If so, I'd say move the trial to the trash.

  • FCP Trial to Full Installation

I was running FCP Trial and decided to buy the full version. However, I had to buy the full version through the Mac Business Store, so I will be getting a physical product next week. Will I have to reinstall FCP, and/or Delete the Trial Version? If I have to delete the Trail, I guess I will have to reconfigure and hope I don't lose anything I have started.
    New to FCP.
    Thanks
    Rich

Went back and took another look....
On completion of your Final Cut Pro X order, Apple will send you one content code for each Final Cut Pro X license you purchased. To redeem each content code from the Mac App Store, your employees or authorized users will need to sign in with an Apple ID and password provided by your organization, company, or institution.
So I assume it will be a license code that is shipped to me? Not sure why they couldn't just e-mail it?
I guess it will come with instructions on how to apply the code.

  • How do I transfer work done in trial version to the paid version?

How do I transfer a project from Trial version to the paid version?

    Should be seamless.
You may have to UPDATE from an older version (10.0.x) to the newer version that is now on 10.1.4 as it uses the Library method.
This updating within FCP X needs to be done the correct way. It is wise to proceed only when you are familiar with the process.
Search this forum for "updating" there is plenty of how to info.

  • How can i uninstall the final cut pro x trial version after installing final cut pro x

How can I unintall the trial version of the final cut pro x after installing the new updated final cut pro x 10.2

I have the same issue. There are now two version of FCP X: the trial one and the purchased one. Problem is, the first hasn't been overwritten by the second, and all my projects are only visible on Final Cut Pro X Trial, and nothing on FCP X.
How and where do I get a fast answer from customer support?
    Thank you
