FCP "unsupported media" message

I am using a Canon XF105.  I went to log and transfer the footage from the card reader and keep getting the message: "(File name) contains unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure." Any idea why/what to do?

Did you install the Canon XF log and transfer plugin?

  • FCP X not reading camera archives (Unsupported Media, Invalid Directory)

    I shot a documentary in May of 2012 and imported the media everytime a card would fill up or at the end of the shoot day. I also created a Camera Archive for each card (we shot Sony PMW-F3 and PMW-EX1). A few clips have gone missing and when I plug in my back-up drive to reconnect the media, FCP X gives me a warning reading "unsupported media or has invalid media directory." I've moved the archives onto my editing RAID and got the same error message. I've trashed all my preferences and tried again - same error message. I then trashed my preferences, deleted the program entirely and redownloaded from the Mac App Store and tried again - same error message.
    Has anyone seen this error message before? Any resolution?

    Very strange: I plugged the drive into my laptop (MacBook Air, 2011) and the same version on FCP X (10.0.5) was able to read the archives. Not sure what the difference is between my two setups, thankful it worked, now want to know why my MacPro won't read it.

  • Unsupported media or damage file message when trying to import ProRes LT from Ninja

    Hi There,
    Is my first day of migration from FCP to Premiere Pro CS5.5. I'm tryiing to import ProRes LT 1920x1080 @ 29.97fps recorded with an Atomos Ninja device and Premiere gives me the message:
    "Unsupported media or damage file" and doesn't open it at all. I've preview the same files on my FCP 7 and they work properly.
    I'm running on a MacBook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 Ghz with 4 gigs of RAM, Snow Leopard and QuickTime v.10.
    Many thanks for any tip or suggestion.

    Cool; glad that helped. And note that installing QT7 isn't a downgrade; they can live side-by-side. It's possible that QT7 is already present on the system (not a Mac user, myself), so maybe it was just the upgrade to 5.5.2 that did it. Whatever it was, glad you're in business!
    Also. the yellow line isn't anything to get too concerned about. Check out this blog post for more on the render bars and what their color means: Red, yellow, and green render bars and what they mean « Premiere Pro work area

  • Receive unsupported media format message

    When transfering songs purchased from the Real Music Store to iPod Nano (using Real Player 10.5), I recieve an "unsupported media format" message. It is important to note that the same songs transfer to my iPod 30GB video player. Real support indicated a potential issue with 5th generation iPods but it is unclear whether or not the recently purchased Nano would be considered as such. Thanks in advance for any help.

    have had no trouble burning and playing CD-Rs on other media (i.e. CD player, car radio).
    Media is what the info is on such as a CD, DVD or floppy.
    A player is CD player, car radio, computer, etc.
    Open iTunes prefs -> Advanced - Burning.
    Make sure it is set to Audio CD, NOT MP3 or data.

    If you copy the recordings from AVCHD cameras, you must copy the entire storage device with its directory structure intact.
    I have even tried copying BACK files onto the camera and they do not show up in the transfer window under the last clip.
    There is no information for those clips in the AVCHD storage device's directory index files. That means there is no way for the computer to find them.
    Your last resort is most likely [ClipWrap|http://www.divergentmedia.com/clipwrap] now, unless you can get the storage device exactly back into the state it is supposed to be according to the index file.

  • FCP7 Log and Transfer, Unsupported Media . . .

    Last night I used two different SDHC cards in my Canon Vixia HFS100.  FCP7 will import clips via Log and Transfer from one, but not the other.  It just ignores everything on it (but I have 1.4 GB of recordings on it).
    When I copy the card to a hard drive and point Log and Transfer to that folder, I get the message "CANON contains  unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure"
    Before using this card, I did a full initization of the card.  I compared the directory structures of the two.  They appear identical.  I haven't messed with either in the Finder.
    How do I tell what is wrong?  How do I fix it?  Or should I just try converting with something like Voltaic?  I'm an FCP beginner.  So, I would rather not stray too far from its work flow.
    Thanks!

    On the card that you are having trouble with:
    1) make sure there are no still images
    2) make sure there is no non-hd video (log and transfer works with AVCHD HD video clips, not MPEG SD clips)
    3) if possible, all the hd video clips should be of one quality/size/format setting
    4) in the log and transfer window, click on the gear shaped icon in the top center of the screen to set the Log and Transfer Preferences:
    Set the Import Preferences for AVCHD to Plain Stereo:
    Click OK, then restart FCP, reconnect the camera and try again.

    Hi,
    Posting in the 'General' forums as well. Did not yet get any response for the topic posted in the 'Configuration and Getting Started Discussion' forum.
    I am having nightmares to call the POST method of a REST service thru Flex. Initially tried with the HTTPService without any proxy server. Wasn't able to call POST, though the GET method was successfully called. Please see the post here (http://www.flexdeveloper.eu/forums/actionscript-3-0/how-to-acces-post-method-of-rest-web -service-thru-flex/)
    b THEN I tried with BlazeDS
    , but with the same results!
    I have set up BlazeDS with the integrated Tomcat option. I have also set up the Flex project as mentioned in the instructions. It is working fine when I run the sample projects.
    But the problem is that
    i when I try to access a
    b POST for a REST service,
    i I get the "HTTP/1.1 415 Unsupported Media Type" fault.
    b The complete fault I'm getting is: [RPC Fault faultString="HTTP/1.1 415 Unsupported Media Type" faultCode="Server.Proxy.Request.Failed" faultDetail="HTTP/1.1 415 Unsupported Media Type"]

    I have added correct entry to the policy-config.xml (I know this because the GET for the same REST service is working).
    b Only the POST thing is giving me the fault!
    Appreciate any inputs. (am in need of 'em badly)
    thanks
    BJG

    My guess is that the Server/Rest service doesn't like the content type of the request. HTTPService uses a content type of application/x-www-form-urlencoded by default. Maybe the Rest service is expecting the request to be XML? If that's the case, you need to set the contentType property of the HTTPService to application/xml.
    Sometimes an HTTP sniffer/proxy such as Charles can be useful for debugging these kinds of issues. If my suggestion doesn't help, capture the HTTP request and response using a HTTP sniffer like Charles and post back to this thread with it and someone will take a look at it for you. Thanks.

  • HTTP 415 Unsupported Media Type with SOAP adapter trying to put SOAP header

    Hello,
    I am trying to put data into soap header using soap receiver adapter. Seems like building the complete soap message is the right way to go. Thus I wrote a java program to build the complete soap message (soap envelop, soap header and soap body which contains the message PI received from the sender). Mapping program works well. However when I ran the scenario, I got Error "SOAP: response message contains an error XIAdapter/HTTP/ADAPTER.HTTP_EXCEPTION - HTTP 415 Unsupported Media Type" when calling the receiver's web service (the SOAP receiver adapter CC have the "Do Not use SOAP Envelop" checked). Anyone knows why I got this error? From google, seems like this error is because the http's content-type is set to other type, rather than "text/xml". However in soap CC there is no option to control this.
    The message sent to the receiver is (after mapping);
    <SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
    <SOAP-ENV:Header>
    <SOAP-SEC:Signature xmlns:SOAP-SEC="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/security/2000-12" MyAttr="value">My Test Value</SOAP-SEC:Signature>
    </SOAP-ENV:Header>
    <SOAP-ENV:Body>

    <ns1:LicensePlate>654321</ns1:LicensePlate>
    </ns1:UpdateEquipment>
    </SOAP-ENV:Body>
    </SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
    Anyone can help?
    Thanks

    When you check "Do Not use SOAP Envelop", the SOAP adapter chooses application/xml instead of text/xml.
    You can change the content type with help of the MessageTransformBean. You put the bean in the module chain of the receiver channel and add the parameter Transform.ContentType = text/xml

    Hi all,

  • Unsupported media type:application/vnd.rim.cod

    Hullo!
     I have a Blackberry Curve 8320, and am trying to download the new (and apparantly award-winning) Nimbuzz IM client to my phone via their site at http://get.nimbuzz.com  but am getting an error when I try.
     First I am told "The item you selected cannot be displayed. Do you wish to save the item?"  If I select No, I get "Unsupported media type:application/vnd.rim.cod"
     Saving the file "Nimbuzz-1.cod" and then trying to Explore to it and launch it doesn't seem to do any good either.
     I was pretty sure .cod files are the correct file type for this sort of thing, and I can't find anything on the Internet about this error message, or anyone else experiencing this problem.
      Please help!
