FCP Updating On Own?

This sounds crazy, but, when going to open FCP(For the first time in a week, after working out of town), it asked for the serial number. I obliged, and it kept saying invalid. After doing a lot of checking, and trying serial again, and again, I checked the info, and realized it said, version 6.0.5. On my Macbook Pro, and Mac Pro, I had 6.0.2. Never installed a later update. There is no records in downloads of an update download. Very strange. I purposely wasn't updating, until present project was finished. All other pro apps are the same they were. It's just FCP. Nobody else used the computer, and there's no history of Terminal use, etc. Has anybody had anything like this? It sounds crazy, but true.

Underreceipts, it says, that there was a download a week ago, but, I must have been walking in my sleep, because it's been over a week since I "Remember using FCS on my Mac Pro. The interesting thing, is that, there are other updates for the other studio apps, but they are the same ones that were on there already. I already had Motion 3.0.2. But that is in the same download log. Maybe someone broke into my place, and used Final Cut Studio. I have Final Cut remover, which has been used to remove the whole thing when re-installing. I'm going to try and just remove the one app(FCP), because there is work to be done, and don't have time to re-install everything, because the ID trick didn't work.

FCP Update 5.1.2 problem

Wondering if anybody has this same problem?
Last night, like a good Apple plebe, I loaded all the updates Apple recommended:
FCP Update 5.1.2
Mac OS X Update (PowerPC) 10.4.8
iTunes 7.0.1
Pro Applications Update 2006-02 1.0
Cinema Tools Update 3.1.2
After rebooting my machine all the apps worked except FCP. I went to the support page and did everything asked of me. Got rid of 3rd party QT plug-ins, deleted preferences, etc...
Nothing worked.
So, I deleted FCP and loaded it from the discs. It booted up. Hurray!!
So, why not I thought? I loaded FCP Update 5.1.2 again, and guess what... it wouldn't boot FCP. I deleted the program again and reinstalled it and it seems to work fine. Not sure if anybody else has experienced this yet, and can offer a solution. I am just going to avoid loading the update for now.
Thought somebody might find this interesting.

Here I am replying to my own message.
After reading a post regarding this problem on Creative Cow it turns out to be a Zazwerks plug-in. In this case 3d Flag. I use it in Motion.
The path is Library/Plug-ins/FxPlug/Zaxwerks3DFlag.fxplug
When I remove that last folder, the Zaxwerks one, FCP 5.1.2 loads no problem. Put the plug-in back, and no loading.
There you go. Causes me some problem as I am using the plug-in for a client project in Motion, but I guess we'll just move it in and out until a fix is developed.

Resizing of images after FCP update not working. When I try to resize, It resizes a blank transparent image.

I am having trouble resizing images after I installed the FCP update. When I press the transform button, and then click on teh image, I go to the little blue dots on the side of the image that usually resize the image, and when I drag them out, instead of the image resizing, a black trasparent rectangle the same size as the photo expands outward to my desired size. This has happened to me before the update when trying to resize text, but the problem usually fixed itself once I clicked again on the text line in the editing section.
Any ideas?

It doesn't work that way either, however it's okay because I solved the problem. Turns out I had to select 'add keyframe' on either the 'crop' or 'distort' tabs and it fixes itself. No idea why but the problem is solved! Thanks for your help anyhow.

A client has sent me an indesign file I cannot open. She says she has updated to Indesign CC 2014. I am a CC member and fully updated my own software but cannot open the file she has sent me, not even if she saves as an IDML, how do I resolve the problem?

There are a few things to try.
First, if this file came to you vial email attachment, it could have been corrupted. Ask her to zip the file and send it again. That sometimes helps.
I suppose there's a chance that the file is already zipped, so see if that's the case and unzip it if so.
If the file name doesn't end with .indd, add it and see if that helps.
If you are double-clicking, try File>Open from within InDesign.
Last (and I know this sounds like a joke, but I've seen it many times), sometimes people attach a Mac Alias or Windows Shortcut instead of the actual file. What is the file size? If it's really small, that might be the reason.
Also, no offense intended if some of this sounds like stuff you have already tried. I don't know what you know, so I'm just spit-balling.

Installing latest FCP update

I'm sure I'm overcomplicating an easy question but here goes....I have had to buy another G5 whilst my existing machine is being repaired by Apple.
I have a project last saved in FCP version 6.0.3.
I've re-installed FCP 6 on the new G5, but Apple did not install the Airport card I paid for. Ergo I can't get a net connection to download the FCP updates. Meaning I can't open the project since I'm stuck on FCP version 6.0.
I know the easiest thing to do is take the new G5 back and get them to install the darn airport card. But the nearest Apple shop is 100 miles away.
Finally the question: Is there a way I can copy the update files from my macbook pro onto a CD and finally the G5? If there is where do I find them on the disk to burn across? Many thanks for any help.+*

Only when BC tries to bill the card and can not. Admin will be locked out and when they try to go to the admin the form requesting payment appears and they can add their new details in there.

FCP Update 5.1.4

I too seem to need the latest FCP Update 5.1.4... been a registered user for years now and can't seem to bring it up... anyone know where i can find it?

well i tried that sight, and the closest i could get to the update was the Pro App update... still nothing so far.. my biggest problem right now is, thinking 5.1.4 could help, is that the program freezes nearly every time i try to do some rendering... any one have any ideas as to why?

Problems with FCP update 10.1.3

I attempted to install the FCP update on August 20th.
Since then I have not been able to open FCP.
I click on the icon in my dock. The mac app store opens and this warning message pops up: Final Cut Pro can not be opened while it is being updated.
FCP is not listed as a recently installed update on my list of updates (compressor worked fine). There are no other updates in my mac app store to be installed.
I have restarted my computer. But am not so great at tech stuff so not sure what to do next.

Sounds like the download is incomplete. Move the application to the trash and use the Install button from the Purchases page of the App Store.

Quicktime update + fcp update = iDVD problem

recently updated my quicktime to 7.1.5
Now, after exporting clip from FCP 5.1.4, dropping the quicktime file into iDVD5, and burning a DVD, the clips are not able to be played on a consumer DVD player (I tried 3 different ones). The DVD is able to be navigated, but once a button is selected, the menu freezes and there is no clip. However, the DVD works fine on a computer (pc and mac). I have been working with this process for the last 2 years with no problem, and the DVD's were fine even hours before the upgrade.
Any thoughts are appreciated!

Why do I get general access denied trying to update my own field in Active Directory?

I am trying to update a field pertaining to my own user object in Active Directory using ADSI and C++ app. The operating system
is Windows Server 2012 Standard.
I am able to read, I am able to call Put without problems, but when I call SetInfo, it returns with "General access denied". I have
confirmed that it's my own user object I'm trying to access.
I obtain my own FQDN like this:
GetUserNameEx(EXTENDED_NAME_FORMAT::NameFullyQualifiedDN, pszFullyQualifiedDN, &dwFullyQualifiedDN);
Then I use it like this:

The problem is that in Windows Server 2012 Domain Controller, permission to write to public (and personal,
for that matter) properties is not granted to "SELF". The field I am trying to write to belongs to public properties. The only property set a user is able to change for himself in Windows Server 2012, by default, seems to be "Private-Information",
which consists of ms-PKI-Credential-Roaming-Tokens,ms-PKI-RoamingTimeStamp, ms-PKI-DPAPIMasterKeys, ms-PKI-AccountCredentials
Why on earth a user doesn't have permission to write to his own personal fields in Windows Server 2012 AD, Microsoft??!?!?!

Sorting and Updating my own music

I organize my own music on my hard drive by Genre, and make playlists from the folders.
However, I sometimes download mp3s onto my hard drive from places like NRK Urørt. But I'm constantly having to re-import my folders to get them recognized by iTunes.
Is there way to get iTunes to automatically update every time I put new music in a folder, or just update every so often?

It doesn't break apart (into folders) CDs that have multiple artists on them, doesn't recognize some artists, and breaks up CDs that shouldn't be broken up
You can do most anything in iTunes. What are you doing "special" that you need to access the folders directly instead of thru iTunes? I'm not saying you can't or shouldn't but what's the benefit?
#2, it makes it hard to export music. If I want to bring all of my Classical music to work with me on my external drive, iTunes is no help for me.
Select the music and drag it to external drive, new folder, pen drive, whatever.
#3, it makes it a pain to delete stuff. If I want to delete a song I don't like, I then have to go and delete the folder that iTunes made for it too.
Select the song or artist or album and press Delete. This deletes it from the library and then iTunes asks if you want to delete from the hard drive.

FCP Update to 5.0

My update went well or at least it works, however, I have a new JVC PRO/HD50 cassett player/record that my apple can't find. I've check and says, "Unknown" I'am using 6pin to 6pin firewire. When I'm booting up FCP it says, "missing apple fire wire 720x480" I go into my FCP>view>video play back, none is check, but if I check all frames, the screen go black and have to hit Cntrl;Q to quit. ...have a better idea on having FCP recog. my JVC Unit/Deck. I have shot DV and SD format that I would like to load. Thanks Kevin

Sounds like problems in FCP.
Try getting the newest updates, such as Final Cut Pro 5.0.4, it's resloving more and more camera issues while as it progresses.

Hi, there are no APIs that I found, either. I traced the packages in our 11i.5.10 instance that insert/update these text comments for the formula and batch, and what I found were some remnants of odd code, including obvious cases of copied files that still had comments from their prior life, unused declared variables, and a very odd approach to managing the text tables. We ended up writing our own API's to add text to batches, and I'm sure it would apply to formulas as well.

URGENT - problems with fcp updates

I have created a film with final cut pro, exported it and found that i could not open in it in Compressor. Or more accurately - my compressor was not working at all! So I was advised to reinstall compressor and Final Cut Pro, but this has made no improvement to the compressor problem, and now it says I cannot open my project as it was created in a later version of FCP.
I cant seem to get the two versions of the programme to marry up correctly - so what versions are compatible? I imagine it is FCP 6.0 and Compressor 3.0.??
And what do you advise me to do now to get my project open again?

Make sure that FCP is FULLY updated. Just launch FCP, no project. You can do that my holding down the SHIFT key. Now go to the Final Cut Pro menu and choose ABOUT FINAL CUT PRO. What version does it say?
