FCP Viewer shows garbled/garbage footage on certain frames of multiclip. Strange visual glitch. What's wrong?

Working with footage on a SAN, using multiclips, and when scrubbing through footage, certain frames look like this. Help?!

How many streams? Hard to tell from the image.
Has this worked before? If so, what changed?
Does it work with other codecs?
Does it work with fewer streams?
And, no, I can't say I've seen that particular mess before so I'm just offering general troubleshooting ideas.

Just to be sure, where exactly are you looking.
These are the steps Apple suggest.
Sign in to their iCloud account at www.icloud.com/find.
Choose the device from their Find My iPhone device list by clicking All Devices and selecting the correct device.
Click "Remove from Account" to remove the device from the account.

Click on your preference and check the Parental tab for possible restrictions. Open iTunes, then click the iTunes menu, select preferences after the window opens click on the Parental icon, take a look at the content restrictions section.

Viewer shows white background instead of free-frame of clip - What happened

Did I accidentally change a setting somewhere? Whenever I pause a clip in the viewer the free-frame turns into a white background so it becomes near impossible to edit. How do you fix this?

My laptop is only showing the homescreen with no apps and just the spinning wheel. What's wrong?

A little history of the problem...My MacBook pro had been very slow lately, however I kept putting off getting it looked at for several reasons. Anyways, today I was laying in bed on and off using my laptop because I'm sick and trying to get some work done. When I went to pick my laptop up it was frozen with the spinning wheel, so I restarted it. After that everything uploaded fine, but when I went to click on Safari it never loaded and again just the spinning wheel. So restart again because it was unresponsive to anything else, I then pressed whatever combination to get me to recovery mode (did I preface this with I know nothing about computer systems and such, well yeah I dont). I tried the disk utility option and I also reinstalled OS X. After 2 hours it's done downloading and it let me login (I have a password on it) but now the home screen is up with no apps and the wheel is still spinning. Have I done something irreparable? Will that wheel ever stop spinning?? What do I do? Any help will be greatly appreciated..

Thank you, I was able to get it into Safe Mode and I just used it like that yesterday to backup a lot of my files. I just shut it down and restarted it and it's still freezing up. I clicked on systems preferences and after several minutes it finally opened but the wheel is now just spinning and it won't stop.

Final Cut and QT can't view/edit PAL HD footage recieved from Germany...

Final Cut and QT can't view/edit PAL HD footage I recieved from Germany - I spoke to filmer and he told me that it is HDV 1080i50.
I downloaded program VLC and was able to view the footage through there.
When I import it into FCP, it ether shows a black screen or crashes immediately - in QT, it only shows a white screen.
I have downloaded the QT plugin for MPEG movies.
PLEASE HELP!!!

If it's MPEG-2, chances are its a muxed file. You should be able to use MPEG Streamclip to demux and convert the file into whatever format matches your FCP Sequence specs.
But 1440 x 81? That doesn't sound right at all.

*** Best way to SHOW my HDV footage?

I need to show my HDV footage the best way possible this weekend. Here's my current set-up and plan. Could anyone let me know if it's a good plan or if they have any suggestions to improve the quality. Ultimately I need to be able to show the best quality possible without incurring much expense beyond what I already have. My main question is whether I should play my project from the timeline in FCP (risky) or what the next best quaality output option would be. For example, would exporting it as a full-quality Quicktime Movie be the best option or burn an "HD-DVD" DVD and play it off my tower. Which would be the best option?
Equipment:
Powermac G5 DP 2.7 with 4 gb ram
32" Philips LCD TV
The Plan:
To bring the G5 tower in and play the HDV footage directly to my LCD tv via DVI (out) and HDMI (in). Native resolution of my LCD TV is 1366x768 so it looks better than playing it on most plasmas.
Thoughts? Suggestions?

The sequence I just worked on was almost all slow motion, which seems to be rather difficult with HDV and the basic FCP Speed filter. I have been experimenting with lots of Quicktime Movie exports and Compressor settings to get a decent anamorphic SD DVD. Nothing comes anywhere near the Print To Tape of my HDV footage. I'm viewing everything on a Sony 32" HD Plasma. Which by the way is not Native 1080i, as many HD TV's are not. Just got Sony's new SXRD HD TV which is native 1080i, but haven't tested on that yet. (either SD DVD or HDV from camera)
I don't know how long your sequence is, but dump it over and over to tape and run that. Assuming it's OK to rewind every 60 minutes.

Viewing shows with an external HDMI TV

Running FCP on a 27" iMac and would like to hook up an external TV to view shows from within FCP. Currently outputting then reviewing on an HDMI TV because I don't get an accurate view of the show from either viewer in FCP. Can I hook up an HDMI TV using a Mini Display (plugged into a Thunderbolt port) to HDMI cable AND get an accurate representation of the video with this setup? This would save so much time.

Yes, you can output to your HDMI TV using a mini displayport to HDMI adapter. Note that no all adapters carry audio, so make sure you choose one that does.
The TV will appear like another monitor your mac can use. You can elect to Show Viewers on Second Display and then put the viewer on full screen.

Viewer shows clip that's not on timeline

I have a very strange problem, which might have an easy solution, as my knowledge of FCP has gaping holes in it.. I'm editing a clip, using 2 video-tracks and 2 audiotracks to fade and overlap and stuff. In the middle of a (uncut) stretch of video, the viewer shows me a small part of video that's way before that, chronologically, and shouldn't be there at all. When I stop playing, the viewer shows the image that should be there again. When I scrub through the stretch of video, it all looks normal. When I play it again, the 'wrong' piee of video comes up again. There's no material on my second video track, and I've tried moving the stretch of video in which it occurs: same problem at the same spot. It looks like the second piece of video is stuck underneath the first and moves with it, or something. Unfortunately (and logically) the piece of wrong video shows up in the exported movie as well. Does anyone have a solution? Oh, to make things easier, I'm still using 6...

First, what format are your clips and what are your sequence settings?
Does this section require rendering? If so, is it rendered? If so, toggle on and off the clip (control-b) to see if that fixes things.
could be a corrupt sequence. Create a new sequence with the same settings, make the old timeline active, select all (command-a), copy (command-c), Make the new sequence active and paste (command-v).

I have a stupid black box that (not the canvas, its another box) my footage sits on top of in FCP 7. I didn't shoot it myself so I don't know what camera was used. I just don't want any black blocks above or below my video.

In FCP it says the frame size is 480 by 270. Compressor Windows Media 9. 29.97 fps .
I can change the color of the box under the dropdown to white, checkerboard 1 or checkerboard 2. I changed it to white but when I playback it turns black again. Please help!

Your post contains terms that are inaccurate and inappropriate for a video editing application but I'm going to assume you've not really used FCP very much.
You have provided two mutually exclusive descriptions of the video. ONe is accurate, the other is impossible. Which one do we believe?
If you don't have Flip4Mac installed, Windows media is not likely to be decompressed at all. H.264 is difficult to play back in real time and almost impossible to edit unless you transcode to a more editor-friendly codec like DV. You can do that with Compressor.
You seem to have a scaling issue since FCP is trying to place your 720x480 clip into a 720x480 sequence but think the video is half that size and you have not told it to scale it up (which might not be a good idea) so the clip is sitting on a transparent background which FCP will show as black, white, or checkerboard. Either way, it's not really there.
You also do not seem to understand the difference between the canvas background, which does not render, and the background that is seen behind scaled clips that do not fill the frame.
Your post has lots of issues.
Let's try to basics again.
Since you didn't shoot the video, you need to talk to whoever gave it to you and try to determine what codec it really has been created in.

displaying clips that I have in Browser bins. The Viewer shows only a white screen when clips are clicked. My timeline clips
display ok when clicked. In addition, I cannot see text color in the Viewer although it superimposes on the Timeline fine. I've
restarted and dumped the Library>Preferences> com.apple.RegFinalCutStudio.plist with no results. Anything else I can try without
dumping my project?

Check to see that RGB is checked for Viewer Display settings.

Brightness of the fcp viewer

After recording some footage that seemed ok at the time I have since viewed in FCP Viewer and it looks a lot darker. I though it may of been the quality of my monitors so I decided to export a short QT file to try and get to the bottom of the problem. The QT export is brighter than the view in the viewer.
Is there a brightness controller for the Viewer in FCP and why do clip appear duller in the Viewer?

Videos never look as bright on a computer monitor as they do on a TV.
You will also find that computer monitors do not give even illumination. Try looking at an identical video frame side by side in the Viewer and Canvas ...... you will probably find that one is slightly darker than the other!

Does calendar month view show times

I'm sure I'm not going crazy but I could have sworn that, until late last night, my iPad 2's calendar when in month view showed event times. Similar to what you see when you check the "show times in month view" box when in iCal. I am pretty sure that that function was on my iPad 2 prior to my downloading iTunes 10.3.1 beta because I keep my iPad near the kitchen phone so that we can 'check the calendar.' Now it is not there. The folks at MME support didn't have an iPad to check and they suggested that I go to a local Apple store and see if the ones in the store had this function. I did and they did not.
I spoke with a genius at the Apple Store and he couldn't verify whether that was ever a function of iOS on the iPad. I did tell him that my iPad had been having some strange things happen on the display when I activated the calendar on the iPad. Events would appear, disappear, then reappear sort of in an wave. I am not sure as to the timing of this as to whether it was pre iTunes 10.3.1 beta or after I installed it.
HELP! Was I just seeing things? Or was it there and now gone?

I did remove any events that span midnight and it did not help.
I looked at the DbFixit program. Since it corrects problems in the Palm and not in Palm Desktop I believe it is not relevant. The reason I belive the palm device is not involved is because of the following test:
I removed all previous Palm Desktop versions
I removed all registery entries for both Palm, PalmOne, and the USB (as specified by a chat session with Palm)
I removed all data directories including \Program Files\PalmOne, \Program Files\Palm, and \Palm
I removed all instances of data in the Documents directory
I did a cold boot of the computer
then...
I did a fresh install of Palm Desktop
I typed in a year's worth of data
I did not sync or otherwise connect a palm to the system
I selected month view
The system crashed!
I believe this takes the Palm device completely out of the loop. This problem occurs when typing data in Palm Desktop from the keyboard.
I appreciate any ideas, and will follow up on them.

Since no Palm was involved, the corruption must have occured in the Palm Desktop program itself.

Remove "(More Links...)" from List View Webpart if the list view shows all items

Hi, I currently have 5 links lists out of which 4 links lists have around 30 odd list items and the rest 1 have just 3 list items. All of this links list are added as ListViewWebPart on a wiki page. All these listview web parts are configured for "Summary
Toolbar" and show all the items within the list.
My question is, even if the listview web parts are configured to show "All Items" why is it that the ListViewWebPart shows "More Links" on the bottom of the web parts? Is there any OOB way to remove it. I don't want to customize using SPD nor i want to export
web parts.

This, right here, is an example of one of the most annoying things about Microsoft. On the one hand, Microsoft keeps pushing code-free solutions; they want to make it easier and easier for "Content Managers" to manage their own SharePoint sites, Excel spreadsheets,
etc. etc. without having to bother developers. I am with them on this, to a point. However, they also want to HARD-CODE their options so you HAVE TO USE an OOTB solution to hide it! What is wrong with letting us change the settings of the Web Part, or the
View, to turn off "More Links"? Why do I have to go to JQuery, or SharePoint Designer? WHY??? Give us an OOTB solution for things like this!
UPDATE: Here is a fix, but it does require CSS. Add a Content Editor Web Part with this code. The (More Links...) and (More Announcements...) tags both use the id "onetidMoreAnn". You can then export the CEWB as a Web Part and drop it on every page.
Again, I would like an OOTB solution, but this will have to do.
