FCP won't launch! Help!

Using FCP 5.0.4 and it was working fine this morning but won't launch this evening. I just updated to the latest OS, FCP, QT etc and still no luck. The program starts it's launch sequence and just disappears part way through (right aroung the rt settings)
Everything has been rock-solid up until now...any ideas why this would happen?

Trash the FCP plist file in the user preferences folder for FCP.
Repair permissions before and after installing the latest pro apps update either from software updater or from Apple's download site.

FCP won't launch on new Mac Pro Tower

I just got a new Mac Pro Tower and installed Final Cut Studio, but Final Cut Pro won't launch. It just hangs on the opening splash screen and I can't even force quit out of it. Same thing happens if I try to open an FCP project. I have run all the updates, trashed prefs, etc.
Any ideas?

OK....so I think I found the problem even though it makes no sense to me. It seems that if I have my DVCam deck (which is connected via a 4-pin firewire to 9-pin firewire cable) powered on while I try to launch FCP, it causes FCP to hang on the splash screen. If I turn the deck off, and launch FCP, it launches perfectly.....and it continues to work after I power the deck on. Very bizarre behavior but I have tested it about 5 times now and it works fine when the deck is powered off and hangs when the deck is powered on. Anybody else have a simliar issie?

FCP won't launch after Archive and Install

After the fiasco of the 1.1 update for the Alu-iMac's I had to do an archive and install on my system to return it to 1.0.
Everything is now working fine but FCP6 won't launch. It bounces in the dock once and then nothing. LiveType and DVD Studio 4 will open but Color, Motion and FCP won't.
I have trashed preferences and repaired permissions with no luck.
Any ideas?

There are files that are not brought along with Archive and Install.
Some are invisible and not accessible without enabling "root" access and even then you have to know exactly which files have to be moved from the 'previous System' folder.
Archive and Install never works with Apple's Pro apps.
If Niel's suggestion doesn't work you'll have to erase your hard drive and reinstall everything making sure you first backup important data to another hard drive.
(don't forget to save your mail and addresses)

Mac G5/Pro Tools 002R Digi Core Audio Won't Launch HELP!!

All of a sudden Digi Core Audio won't launch. Not with I-Tunes, Not With Pro Tools, not with audio through the internet. What should I do? HELP!!
I haven't installed or updated anything. I ran disk utility and I got a message in RED saying
Volume Header Needs minor repair/
Volume Macintosh HD Needs to be repaired.
1. HFS Volume Checked
Volume Needs Repair
Someone suggested I hit the repair button but the repair disk button is grayed out.
What should I do next. I am basically computer illiterate, can you talk me through it like I am an 6 year old.

Hi, you cannot Repair the drive you are booted from... a silly OSX feature if you ask me!

1. Insert the Tiger Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it finishes.
(If perchance you cant Find your Install Disk, at least do the Safe Boot part above).
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, or things don't load/run, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates again, or even do an A&I if you have enough free disk space.

If all the above fails, then it appears to be time for a relatively painless Archive & Install, which gives you a new/old OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space and no Disk corruption, and is relatively quick & painless...

Safari won't launch - help!

Hi. I recently had my Mac sorted out at the Apple Store (the Airport icon disappeared and they removed a corrupt file) but now at home, I can't launch my Safari - either from the dock or the Applications folder. My internet connection is at full strength.
I updated Safari to 4.0.3 thinking this may rectify the problem, but it hasn't.

Hi! As of 2 days ago, my Safari won't launch; well,let me be specific: it launches to the first link but then the loading button turns grey and keeps spinning and spinning and nothing happens. I read Raj Oct 3 post and given solutions and have tried doing the same thing. I can't find the file" com.apple.LaunchServices.plist~/Library/Preferences" anywhere using Spotlight.
I've had my Mac OS X Version 10.5.8 using Safari 4.0.3 since January with no problems until 2 days ago.
Would really appreciate any suggestions.
BTW. Have been running VMWare Fusion on my MAC and 2 days ago, that too froze and gave me the response of fatal error, rebooting impossible. Haven't been able to resolve that either. But Safari is more important right now.

ISYNC WON'T LAUNCH HELP!

When I open up isync application, it won't launch at all. I see the word isync and help on top of the menu bar but when I click on them, nothing at all happens. Please help me get my isync working anyone! Thanks!

I had this problem last week and found a fix here on the boards, but you must be willing to go against the official Apple advice.
Go into your user library's application support folder (/Users/YourName/Library/Application Support/). Look for the "SyncService" and "SyncServices" folders. There will be one of each.
One of these is the WRONG one. And even though Apple's own tech notes say "Like a swarm of angry bees, avoid touching this folder," I'm sad to say... you're gonna have to touch it.
IMPORTANT STEP:
Open both folders and look at the file dates. Find the most recent (for me, that was SyncServices). Take the other folder and right-click it. Select "Create Archive of SyncService" to make a quick .zip backup of the folder.
Now. Take a deep breath and delete the folder you backed up.
Re-launch iSync.
Did it work?
If not, you can restore the original folder by unzipping the SyncService.zip that you created, and try something else (maybe try the same with the other SyncServices folder, just to be sure).

FCP 4 won't launch - help!!

Installed FCP 4 on a brand new G5, dual core, 2gig machine. When I try to launch message says, "software or hardware missing - AGT graphics card." Shouldn't FCP lauhch right out of the box without an additional graphics card?
Upgraded to FCP 4 HD. Same result. Upgraded system to 10.4.8 and downloaded pro application support. same result.

It is because you are installing old software on a new machine...a machine with specs beyond what FCP 4.o was designed for. It is looking for an AGP graphics card, for that was what was required. Your new Mac doesn't have that, so it can't work.

FCP won't launch

I have been using FCP for about three weeks now. Suddenly when I try to launch it, it opens briefly and then shuts down. What's up? How do I launch it?

Have you tried zapping your perimeter RAM?
To do this, reboot your computer while holding down CommandOption+PR
Hold them down until you hear your computer chime 3 - 5 times, and then let go of the keys to let it boot all the way.
After doing this, try to open FCP. If that doesn't work, try trashing your preference files like the article says. If that doesn't work, try running a maintenance application like TechTool Pro or Disc Warrior (make sure you use the latest version). These can help narrow down your problem to either a software issue or a possible hardware issue (such as bad or loose RAM).
I see you're using a G3 Tower, what version of FCP are you using? The fact that you're using an old computer might have a lot to do with your problem.

FCP won't launch after install

Please help! I just got a shiny new 12-core MacPro and installed Final Cut Studio 2. I am unable to launch FCP at all now after the install. From everything I've read in the forums, it should be compatible with Snow Leopard.
I have already uninstalled (fcs remover) and reinstalled 3 times. Have also downgraded to ProKit5.1.

MX 2004 won't launch-help, please....

Install of Macromedia Studio X 2004 (dreamweaver, fireworks, flash) stopped opening all of a sudden. Happened on two different computers at roughly the same time. Have read all related support forums at Apple and Adobe, have tried many suggested fixes to no avail. Have dumped prefs, tried the Hot Fix install, permission fix, the Quicktime update, etc. I can't do a software reinstall b/c it won't accept my admin passowrd. A possibly related problem is that I can't print either. Have a feeling it is a bizarre permissions/licensing issue but I can't nail it down.
Running 10.4.9 on Intel MacBook Pro and a PowerPC Dual G4, both experiencing the same problem.
Is there any reliable help out there? Thanks!

I had the exact same problem and came across your post. I've since solved it on my computer. I'm not sure what your level of computer expertise is and whether or not you're comfortable editing your registry, so I've dumbed-down the following instructions a bit - forgive me if they're too dumbed-down!
1. Click Start
2. Click Run
3. Type regedit
4. Click the OK button
5. Double click the HKEY_CURRENT_USER key (folder) on the left
6. Double click the SOFTWARE key
7. Double click the MACROMEDIA key
8. Right click the DREAMWEAVER MX 2004 key
9. Click Rename
10. Type a new name for the key, such as OLD DREAMWEAVER MX 2004
11. Press Enter
12. Try to start Dreamweaver again
If all goes well, Dreamweaver should open and re-create that DREAMWEAVER MX 2004 registry key from scratch. There's likely some corrupt data in it, though I haven't been able to figure out what. If I do, I'll let you know.

Iphoto won't launch--HELP!

so...I don't know what happened, it always worked before. When I launch iPhoto I only get the spinning icon that says "Loading Photos" but the photos never come up. I've tried force quit, quit, everything. I even deleted the com.apple.iphoto.plist thing, but it still just turns and turns "loading" the pictures, frozen. I tried to save pictures from my e-mail into iPhoto, did that screw something up? is there an upgrade available for iPhoto 4.0.3?

I have the exact same problem. I haven't been able to get iPhoto to open. I simply wait for the spinning circle to stop & load images and nothing happens. I have tried reloading library by holding down the shift key & the options key at the same time while opening iPhoto and it begins the process of reloading images, but it unexpectedly quits.
I even reinstalled my system software, no help. I have check for system updates, nothing.
Can anybody help determine why iPhoto attempts to launch but never does? I am thinking I lost some file essential to iPhoto opening, but since reinstalling the systems disk didn't work I don't know what gives.
Please help?!!

New Toy, FCP won't launch, moderately ticked off

I feel like a total dope, cannot figure this out.
You can believe me when I say I've run through ALL of the obvious and much of not so obvious debugging routines. However, I'm not going to list what I've done because I want you to waste your time and mine with any and all of your sugggestions, maybe I forgot one trick to try.
when I finished migrating and reinstalling a few days ago, FCP worked, as far as I could tell. Today, the FCP splash screen comes up, it gets quickly to "loading video effects" and simply closes.

Combination of both. No reason not to migrate most of them since they're the same universal versions. Other stuff was installed from scratch. I'm deliberately leaving out these details but Studio was installed from scratch.
There is a tremendous amount of noise about the "dangers of migrating from PPC to Intel. Only amateurs would stoop so low. REAL professionals would never DREAM of attempting to use this shortcut."
It's just not true for 90% of the applications on my systems. Migrating works fine and saves tons of hassle.

FCP 6 won't launch

I had FCP 5.0.1 and one day and all of the sudden, it wouldn't launch anymore. I troubleshooted some, threw away preferences and all those other files people speak of and nothing..
I thought I would fix the situation by finally uninstalling the entire studio and REinstalling FCP 6.0.
When launching Final Cut Pro I can't seem to get past "Loading Audio Filters RP150". It unexpectedly quits every time.. I have thrown out all the files people have said to throw out. I have repaired my disk permissions, etc. Still the same thing.
What else can I do?

Yes. But it's not going to fix this issue. DW does one thing only -it checks and repairs the directory structure of hard drives.
Where does this audio plug in come from -do you have Logic or another audio software package installed? As Studio X already mentioned, +"If these filters are incompatible, FCP won't launch and won't give you much in the way of an error message."+
Final Cut Pro plugins are located at: hard drive name/Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro System Support/Plugins. Look for the plugin there and move it out of the Plugins folder. Note that it might be in a sub-folder, typically named after the manufacturer.
If the plug in is an AudioUnit, you might be able to use [Audio Unit Manager|http://audio-unit-manager.en.softonic.com/mac] (free) to tell FCP not to load it.
