FCP won't load due to Minimum System Checks
On Friday FCP 6.0.2 was working fine and had been for a month.
On Monday it won't load...a Minimum System Checks window pops-up with and error:
"This system does not meet the following minimum requirements:
• FCP requires that your system have a Quartz Extreme capable video card."
Maybe my video card went south?
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Chris
Have you run system profiler? Go to Apple Menu: About this mac: Mor info. See what it says about your video card. You might want to run techtool or see if there's a hardware test app on your original install disks that came with your computer.
Also, did you do a "software update?" You should never run this without first have an uptodate clone of your startup disk. You can check on what updates have been installed by going to system preferences: software updates: Installed updates.

Program won't load due to external drive failure
I thought I was doing a smart thing when my laptop began getting a little too full by setting up the installation of Photoshop to use a Seagate hard drive as my preferences and scratch disk, with my computer's drive as the second choice. Now the Seagate has failed and Photoshop won't load! I get error messages saying the preferences file is missing and the loading terminates.
How can I fix this? I have a new drive, 1.5 terabytes, which I would still like to use for that. It's drive F, the old one was drive E. So I cannot rename the F to E, unless there's something I don't yet understand.
I just hope I won't have to completely reinstall the program. Any advice? What possessed me to also set the preferences file on the external drive? I didn't realize I did.
Thanks for your help. I really appreciate fast and knowledgeable help.
But I stumbled on a solution. Since posting in this forum, I tried loading the program again. I don't know why but I just happened to think of holding down the Ctrl key while it loaded.
Sure enough, it worked!
I immediately changed the settings and have restarted the program several times without any problem.
All I can figure is that I must have read somewhere something about overriding settings by using the Ctrl key. I really didn't know this when I wrote my first post but anyway, it works.
Thanks again for your help! -
Logic Pro 9 new install won't load due to plug in problem - Rewire
Just installed Logic Studio with Pro 9. Every time I try to open it, it hangs. The loading window shows that Logic Pro 9 is searching for a TC Electronics plug-in called "TC voicestrip.vst". I get an error message from my TC Powercore stating that the sample settings in the host application are incompatible, so I've disabled the Voicestrip plug ins in AU Manager. I even removed those plug ins from the Plug In folder. After Logic Pro 9 hangs, I quit out of it, then get a message that says the app has quit unuexpectedly possibly due to a problem with Rewire. When I chose to send the error message to Apple, here's the msg it sent:

Any ideas how to fix this? Two things: VST's don't work with Logic anyway, and they won't work in any program if you put them in the components folder. The Components folder is for AU plugins (that work with Logic) and the VST folder is for, well, you can guess...
But your real problem is Rewire. You must either update it to a compatible version, or remove the folder Propellerheads from *Library>Application Support*. -
FCP Won't Load After Quartz Extreme Support Dissapears, then reappears
I did the latest Software Update yesterday and weirdly, the Quartz Extreme support on my video card (NVidia GForce FX 5200) disappeared. Then it reappeared after doing nothing. Should I download a new driver? And if so, where do I get it? Without QE, FCP or and FCS 2 software will not load. There was no place on the Tiger pages to post this question. Thanks.

External Hard Drive won't load, Disk Utility and System Profiler crashes,
I've had the WD 1TB Passport for Mac for about a year now and as of this afternoon, my MacBook Pro stopped recognizing it. It's encrypted so when I plugged it in, my computer asked me for my password, but then it said there was an error and wouldn't mount. After restarting the computer, the password prompt for my external drive didn't even pop up. I can hear the hard drive spinning and the light flashes for a good 30 seconds before going solid. I have tested my USB ports with flash drives and they are reading them just fine. I tried to run Disk Utility but it goes into the never-ending loading mode. So then I go to the "About my Mac" page and clicked on storage, and the profiler crashed (never-ending loading). Can anyone help me? It was working just fine up until today. I even tried different Micro USB chords on it. This drive is incredibly important to me and I would appreciate not having to erase anything from it (kinda defeats the purpose of backing up a computer if the external hard drive is the one needing the backup).

Many of my System preferences won't load in mavericks?
Since updating to 10.9 many of my system preferences won´t load. These are:
- Security: You can’t open Security & Privacy preferences because it doesn’t work on an Intel-based Mac.
- Notifications: Could not load Notifications preference pane.
- Printers & Scanners: Could not load Printers & Scanners preference pane.
- iCloud: Could not load iCloud preference pane.
- Internet accounts: Could not load Internet Accounts preference pane.
- Networks: Could not load Network preference pane.
- Sharing: You can’t open Sharing preferences because it doesn’t work on an Intel-based Mac.
- Users & Groups: You can’t open Users & Groups preferences because it doesn’t work on an Intel-based Mac.
- Parental Controls: Could not load Parental Controls preference pane.
- Date & Time: You can’t open Date & Time preferences because it doesn’t work on an Intel-based Mac.
Any hints on a solution are greatly appreciated!
Best regards, MikkelTo further explain:
I didn't need to locate any invisible files in my case. I discovered that I had 4 versions of the System Preferences application on my computer. (The System Preference applicatioin is what loads the preference pains when you seledt System Preferences.) I merely searched for "System Preferences" in spotlight. Spotlight located 4 different versions of the System Preferences application. Some of those versions apparently tied to preference panes that used the old 32 bit encoding from the non Intel processor days. When I clicked on the System Preferences under the Apple menue it was apparently pulling up an old version of the System Preferences applicatioin instead of the correct one in the main Applications folder. I also noted that if I clicked on System Preferernces in the dock or directly in the the Applications folder, I would not have the problem of some of the preference panes not able to be viewed because of the " "it doesn’t work on an Intel-based Mac" message. So I surmised that the correct System Preferences application was in the Applications Folder on the top level of the drive directory like it was supposed to be but that when I clicked on System Preferences from the Apple menue it was loading one of the 3 old System Preferences applications that were buried elsewhere on my hard drive. If you find you have more than one System Preferences application on your hard drive you need to trash the other System Preferences Applications. Before trashing the duplicates, you should test the one in the main Applications folder by directly double clicking it and make sure all the preference panes in it work properly then trash the duplicate System Preferences applications you found in spotlight.
You may also find like I did, that you not only have duplicates of the System Preferences on your hard drive but also several old duplicates of the entire Applications folder buried on your hard drive. if that is the case you should compare each folder and make sure there is nothing in the old duplicate Applications folders you still need. You will probably find that all of the latest versions of your applications are in the main Applications folder where they should be. If so then trash all the old duplicate Applications folders as well. Keep only the main Applications folder on the top level of the hard drive.
Trashing all these extra old Applications folders that held old duplicates of all my applications in them on my hard drive solved a bunch of other problems I was having with some of the applications as well.
For the technically minded: Why does this happen with Mavericks and not with Mountain Lion? I suspect that the old Applications folders and old duplicate System Sreferences applications didn't matter to Mountain Lion because it searched for the System Preference application under the Apple menu differently than Mavericks does. I believe Mountain Lion seached all the top levels of the Application folder before drilling down into any subfolders to find the System Preferences application. Mavericks apparently does it the opposite way. It searches the first subfolder in you Applications folder and drills all the way down in that subfolder first before going to the next subfolder and drilling down in that subfolder all the way to the bottom. So it searches all the subfolders before searching the main level of the Applications folder for System Preferences. Since my old duplicate System Preferences applications where in subfolders with titles that were earlier in the alphabet than the main System Preferences application it searched those subfolders first, found the old System Preferences application in the those earlier folders and loaded the old System Preferences first in the subfolders instead of the correct one further on in the main Applications folder. If any one else has a better idea let me know.

NFIXITThere are three possible solutions to solve the situation:
1) Install a processor supported by the current BIOS Version to be able to properly turn on your system and then update the BIOS to the latest Version to be able to use your E8400/E0 (update should be done from DOS only).
2) Ask in a local computer shop or contact your reseller to do the same thing for you.
3) Connect an internal floppy drive and a PS/2 Keyboard and then try to force the system into AMI BIOS Recovery Mode. Instructions:
Quote
Rename the desired AMI BIOS file to AMIBOOT.ROM and save it on a floppy disk. e.g. Rename A7345IMS.1xx to AMIBOOT.ROM
Insert this floppy disk in the floppy drive. Turn On the system and press and hold Ctrl-Home to force update. It will read the AMIBOOT.ROM file and recover the BIOS from the A drive.
When 4 beeps are heard you may remove the floppy disk and restart the computer.
Even though the AMI BIOS Recovery Procedure is the only chance you have to solve the situation without installing a different processor, it does not work in all cases. However, as it is an easy procedure, it is at least worth a try. -

Specified Driver could not be loaded due to system error 5
Hello,
I am trying to run oracle 9i on my lap top. I installed the package from the website and got everything installed correctly. I checked my sqlnet.ora and tsnnames.ora files and the test connection in the ODBC driver is working fine.
However, as i try and connect to the database through my ASP application i get the error:
Code: 80004005
Specified Driver could not be loaded due to system error 5
I have been searching these forums for an answer and the closest solution i found was that something may be wrong with my path variable. I checked it and everything looks fine, it points to my /bin directory.
I am not sure if it is something wrong with my driver (though i installed the latest one available) or something else. I Would appreciate any help anyone can offer.
Thanks
samir. The user that IIS runs as doesn't have appropriate access to the Oracle directory or to ODBC. There's a good, recent Usenet thread on this
http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&threadm=3d119df8%240%24234%24ed9e5944%40reading.news.pipex.net&rnum=2&prev=/groups%3Fq%3DASP%2Bsystem%2Berror%2B5%2Bgroup:comp.databases.oracle.*%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26ie%3DUTF-8%26oe%3DUTF-8%26scoring%3Dd%26selm%3D3d119df8%25240%2524234%2524ed9e5944%2540reading.news.pipex.net%26rnum%3D2
I'm assuming that you've verified that you can, say, create a new DSN with the Oracel driver and successfully test it with the "test connection" button.

After doing a system restore, Firefox won't load pages.
I restored my laptop a couple of days ago (from a previous date, not a full system restore), now firefox will open to the home page (google), but will not load any other page. It doesn't even bring up the "page won't load" page, it just continually says 'connecting' forever. I also noticed, even when I first open firefox, and it opens the google homepage, it doesn't have google.com in the address bar, it has 'about:home'. Internet explorer seems to be working fine, and my internet connection is fine, so I am not sure what the problem seems to be.
hello rlyslowff, one thing you could try is to remove all program rules for firefox from your firewall/security software and let it detect the program again...
please also [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/ update your plugins] (some of them are out-dated & have security vulnerabilities that are actively exploited on the web).
in case this didn't solve the issue, go to the firefox ''menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information'', copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum, as this might give us further clues what is going on... -
I am currently virtualising W.I.C.S Nationwide with APP V 5.0 SP1 on a Windows 64BIT machine. When I install and launch the application manually I am able to log into the application successfully without issues.
When I sequence the application, I get nothing in the report to suggest any issues. in fact the report has nothing. After sequencing, when testing the application on a client machine (Which is a mirror copy of the sequencing machine), once I put in the log
in credentials and try to connect with the application, I get the below error message:
Error Connecting - 2147467259 :Specified driver could not be loaded due system error 998:Invalid access to memory location. (Oracle in Installclient11_1,C:\ProgramData\App-V\86B33AE4-890E-4E98-AD4F-C4F7A1FCA0DE\4D075A01-3775-4BEA-BEC4-5414B3B0D02E\Root\instantclient_11_1\sqora32.dll).
I was wondering if anyone has had this issue with a similar application that tries to load an ODBC driver and if so how did you resolve it
UObiWhen Sequencing did you try to go into ODBC and test the connection? Is that file in that location? If you run a ProcMon, what results does that produce in relation to the sqora32.dll?
Out of interest, have you tried sequencing on a 32-bit machine? I haven't had an issue yet but am wondering if it's a 32-bit driver running on 64-bit and not running correctly for some reason, either way, a ProcMon may give you some clues. Sorry, can't be
much help

I recently upgraded from 10g to 11g and upon this upgrade, a website of mine stopped working.
It is a classic ASP website. I added a "testdatabase" page to the website to test the basic functionality of opening a connection. I've pasted the testdatabase page below. Anyways, upon running this page, I get this error:
Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 127: The specified procedure could not be found. (Oracle in OraClient11g_home1_32bit, D:\app\oracleadm\product\11.2.0\client_1\BIN\SQORA32.DLL).
I have two other environments where I have done the same upgrade and the site works just fine. I have compared all the IIS settings in my other environments to that of the one suffering from the error. Also, in the IIS settings, I have made sure that "Allow 32bit" was checked.
D:\app\oracleadm\product\11.2.0\client_1\BIN\SQORA32.DLL is actually where this DLL resides.
I have also checked to make sure the environment variables are correct.
The very first environment variable in the PATH setting is D:\app\oracleadm\product\11.2.0\client_1\bin; and there are no other references to oracle in the PATH environment variable.
I have done a google search and I've seen that people also tell me to check ORACLE_HOME to make sure it's correct. I've checked this in both of the working environments and there is nothing there. There is also nothing there in the broken environment. What should be there? If anything?
I don't know where else to look. What could be causing this error?
