FCP wont import Quick Time anymore

I´m using FCP HD 4.5 everything was fine until I tried to import Quick Time files previously exported from FCP. I always imported Quick Time and never had this problem. Any help will be apreciated.

the important thing to understand is .mov doesn't tell you much about the file. It's just a wrapper. Open it up in Quicktime Player and go to Window>Show Movie Inspector (or show movie info).
This will tell you the format of the video. Odds are it's a format that FCP 4.5 doesn't support and you'll need to convert it to compatible editing format.

Importing Quick Time file to FCE problem

I tried to import a quick time movie I had saved on a DVD from work and it would not import into FCE. It says "unknown file". But other quick time movies that are on my Mac import fine into FCE. Both my work Mac and home are almost identical-Power Mac g5. Why is this happening?

QuickTime comes in many shapes and sizes and not all work with FCE.
Files from a DVD are multiplexed.
They will need to be de-multiplexed before FCE can use them.
Search this forum for demuxing.

Importing quick time slide shows to dreamweaver site

I can't seem to import a mac osx quick time slide show to my
web site. Anyone know how to do this?

It is under the Community drop-down up at the top of this
site. This is a resource that allows you to find and download
plugins for all of the Adobe programs. If you go to that link, then
on the right click on Advanced Search. Then search for "quicktime"
for the exchange "Dreamweaver". Just searching now, the second one
is what you need:

Just download the file and double-click on the file that you
save to your computer. The Adobe Extension Manager will launch and
should install it automatically for you (please note that DW must
be shut down for the install to work).
I gave you both links so you can find what you need quickly
and so that you can search through the exchange later in case there
are other extensions that might help you out.

Importing quick time movie issues

Should be simple - but: I am putting together a video presentation using photos on iPhoto, converted to a slideshow and exported as a quicktime movie (.mov)
So far so good
Then I need to import to iMovie to do additional editing. I have done this before, no issues.
However, when I try to import, the .mov file is not available. It shows in finder, I can access and play via finder etc, but from the drop menue on iMovie it is not accessible -
what's up?!?!?

First I tried simply exporting the iPhoto slideshow and kept getting
The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error -9459.)
Then used the drop down menu to export to quick time and have a successful export, showing in finder and playable, but cannot import it to iMovie for further work.
Then, tried removing any music and text and tried to re-export as quick time movie, and got
"free up disk space" when there is plenty of disk space available.
Then tried to export as mpeg4 and got
The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error -9459.)

Can't import Quick time into FCE

I converted some images from I photo into a QT movie but I'm unable to import into FCE. I'm using a G5 with OS 10.4.8, FCE 3.5.1, QT 7.1.3, and IPhoto 6.0.5.
Everytime I attempt to import I get this message....
file error: 1file(s) recognized, 0 access 1 unkown
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

1. Quicktime is a generic wrapper for a number of CODECs (Compression/decompression formats). What format is your file?
2. Hard drives can be formatted a number of ways. If they are set up for MS-DOS, they will have problems. To check the format of the drive, right click on the drive icon on the decktop and select 'get info'. The format should say 'mac os extended'. If it doesn't, it's time to erase and reformat the drive using 'disk utility'.

No sounds when importing Quick Time

I received a clip from someone and am able to open it and it p[ays fine, However, when I import it to FCP Express, The video p[ays nut there is no sound. The clip has a mpg extension.

MPEG video files are muxed (multiplexed). You'll need to demux and convert the MPEG file into an editable format that will match your FCE Sequence settings. MPEG Streamclip should be able to do this for you.

How to fix Premiere Pro hanging up on Exporter/Importer Quick Time host

I have been working with Premiere Pro 5 in Creative Suite for a couple of years now with no problems. A month ago, however, I ran into problems with my computer overheating when I was exporting a file. Ever since then my Premiere Pro hangs up for a very long time when trying to load. It hangs up on Exporter QuickTime host.prm and then on Importer QuickTime host. I could handle the 7 1/2 minute start time, but the problem is that I can't work on projects that have .mov files now: Premiere won't read them. I uninstalled both QuickTime and Premiere, and then reinstalled them but to no avail. I searched the forum but did not find a similar post.

How do you import quick time movies?

I downloaded a clip from a stock video company, and it does not want to import into Final Cut Pro.

Open the clip in QuickTime. Open the Inspector. Post a screenshot of what's reported.

Imported quick time movie frame rate

I have just used Quicktime to convert some old royalty free archive footage. When the conversion is done, the new movie is in the correct format for PAL at 25 frames per second. However, when I import into FCE4, the frame rate of the imported movie drops back to 10fps. Any ideas?

What are the specs of your clips before conversion? How are you going about converting it exactly? What are the specs of your clips according to Quicktime Movie Info after conversion?

Importing quick time files to iMovie08-- problems

for some reason i can only import a few of my quicktime clips into iMovie 08 on my 17 inch MACBOOKPRO-- also my MACBOOK cannot read some earlier iMovie folders on myinternal and external drives.... any ideas, or solutions would be greatly appreciated

Import quick time clips

Someone has given me a disc with quicktime video clips of my daughter on it.
Is it possible to import these to imovie 08 and build a project from this.

You should open them individually in quicktime after having copied them to the hard-drive (likely they could be all the same format, but who knows); once open each file, you can go to heading "Window" and then in the drop down menu click *"Show movie inspector"*. There will be a screen containing all the technical information on your file.
Once you know that, it is easy to figure out where to go from there.

FCP wont import audio from Powershot!

my powershot camera films movies, they come out mpeg movies, and they have a THM attachment file that i dont use, now when i play these in Quicktime, i can hear the audio perfect, but when i drag and drop to FCP, there is no audio! what should i do? thanks

Well first off, there are many, many varieties of MPEG. Not knowing which one you have means no one can provided definitive answers for your situation.
Secondly, most consumer camcorders use one of several varieties of MPEG that is meant for final delivery - not intended for editing, so it must be converted if you want to edit.
Finally, almost all MPEG varieties that include audio use 'multiplexed' (muxed) audio that would need to be separated from the video stream prior to editing.
I realize that you may have hours and hours of footage, but that's the price you pay for recording in that format.

Importing Quick Time movie to iPhone

Has anyone had success in getting a QT movie to the iPhone?
I ran the "convert selection to iPod" and attempted to synch, but after the sync, no movie showed up on the phone.
Disappointed because i needed to use this movie for work related activity. Along with the volume issue, i am wondering if i squandered $.

HT2673 what it is quick time error -50 (in Compressor) I try to do a mp4.

A few weeks ago I did a quick time from my large project (with subtitles) with no problem. Today a copy from the same project but without subtitles. And it is impossible to do from FCP 7 a quick time. It is out of memory.
and sent to compressor 3.5 it error quick time -50.
I need a mp4. The best way would be with compressor but i cannot do any compression from fcp.Failed!!!!!!
Just a quick time form FCP7 with currents settings. But the result is not a good quality as with mpeg4 in compressor.
my film is 102 Minutes and it is a dv project 4/3.
I have fotos, logos, dv and a few HD ( in DV project).
I did with the same things last time and it was ok. Just the logo are news.JPEG 300dpi.
if someone can helped me I will be really happy.
I work on a macpro (2006) with ssd for my system and three harddisks in raid. (12 TB) for my project.
