FCP WONT LAUNCH!!!

Searched this topic to no avail... infact all the information I found made the situation worse...
I have:
MacBookPro Tiger 10.4.7
Final Cut Studio
One day, FCP 5.1.1 stopped opening. It would begin launching, the window opens to load but it would just stop. (From what I noticed, it would quit at different intervals throughout the process, no specific feature loading seemed to cause the crash) All my other Studio programs opened fine.
I reinstalled FCP only. Same thing.
Researched it. Maybe its a system update... Maybe its an audio plug in. Maybe you should trash your ProApp update and replace it with ProAppRuntime 3.0.1. (won't load on my computer) Maybe FCPRescue will fix it...
None of these worked. Infact since trashing my settings in FCPResue, NONE of the studio programs open.
I can't even get the launch window anymore. One hop in the dock. That's it.
Anyhoo, please if you know the solution... I believe it to be when I installed 10.4.6. That's the only change I made to the computer before this nightmare.

these are the classic symptoms of corrupt preferences .... i know you said you tried it already but you may want to try FCP Rescue again, make sure you are using FCP Rescue 5, not an earlier version.
if you're not feeling too happy about FCP Rescue, you can try using FCP Attic which does much the same thing plus saves your custom button bars, keyboard layouts etc
another approach would be to create a brand new user account for OS X and log into it ... try and launch FCP in that account and see if it works ok

    I updated to the latest version of Final Cut Pro and now it wont launch.  the window comes up and all I get is a spinning colourful wheel as a cursor and no way to operate the software.

    Could be a problem within one or more of your Events or Projects.
    Move your Events and Projects to new (temporary) folders so that FCP X doesn't find them on launch.
    If it launches OK, then quit the app and move the Projects back one by one (re-launching each time). The media will be offline (red clips) but if it launches OK, quit again, and move the Events back one by one - re-launching each time you move an Event.
    This should isolate the offending Event - you can then use a similar technique to track down the individual file.

  • Fcp wont load cause of audio plugins

    Hi. I work on Fcp studio and Logic pro. I have a lot of audio plugins for Logic espescially waves. But now fcp wont load cause it crashes when it gets to a certain plugin. I don't want to use audio plugins in fcp as I do my audio in logic.
    Why has fcp seen my logic plugins and how can I stop this, I can't run fcp. I've tried dragging the components folder out but no luck. There must be a resolution to this, it's driving me nuts.

    I've had the same problem.
    FCS maintenance pack is not really an option - it disables the plugins globally, so Logic wont load them. It's also expensive (for what it does) - $169.
    The easiest workaround I found is to shift the plugins (located in the /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/ folder) to - for example - another folder (not called 'components') on the desktop, before launching FCP. Then you can move them back before launching Logic. A pain, yes, but until Apple fixes their problem...waiting.
    None of the plugins in this folder are core to FCP (if you're like me they'll be all Logic plugins), so there are no consequences to FCP. You could probably keep some in the folder, as I think the problem has got to do with the number of plugins (a different plugin crashes FCP every time for me).

  • Itunes wont launch, no error message, no blue screens, just wont open

    itunes wont launch, i get no error message, no blue screen, it just wont open. I've tried to delete and reinstall, but once i close itunes i still have same issue. it wont open again.

    I have same problem  on my XP lap top and Windows 7 PC.    Apple have been investigating this problem for me for a week now without success so far.  Understand it 's ongoing with other customers as well.
      It is caused by an bit of program called APSDaemon supplied by Apple in latest i-Tunes.     Your quick fix to enable you to open i-Tunes again is as follows:-     open Task Manager (right click bottom toolbar), click on Task Manager, select Processes.   Find APSDaemon, highlight and press END PROCESS.      I-tunes will now re-open ok.   You have to repeat this every time you want i-Tunes re-opened until you switchoff or restart.
    A pain I know, but lets you keep going until Apple repair and release an update for i-Tunes

    I installed Premiere Elements 11 today and it wont launch.
    The launch window doesn't get past:
    Loading SmartSoundAdobePlugin.bundle
    before I get the Adobe Premiere Elements 11 quit unexpectedly; report.
    I click re-open and the problem persists.

    In addition to following your two tips, I came across some additional information related to fonts. I validate the font library and reloaded it. I was then able to open Premiere Elements 11; SonicFire plug-in still didn't work.
    I found some information in the forum on a related SonicFire patch - installed the patch and everything is working fine. Turned on Retina display and life is good.

    Is there not a monitor calibration function in your system preferences not PSE preferences?

    I downloaded the latest Itunes, and then tried to launch it.
    I keep getting the following message
    "error getting file security :\C\program files\get last error 5
    I have even tried to remove I tunes through the add & remove section in the control panel, but this also does not allow me to do this and i get the same message.
    Can someone help ???

    some preliminary questions.
    are you getting an error message? if so, what does it say? include error message numbers if you're getting any.
    or are you getting no error messages whatsoever when you try to launch itunes?
    if you're getting no error messages whatsoever, do you just see the wee hourglass for a few seconds, and then nothing? if so, do you also have Norton Internet Security 2005 installed on that PC?
    also, reboot the PC. bring up your Task Manager, and click on the "Processes" tab. now try to launch itunes again.
    does an "itunes.exe" process appear in the Processes tab? if so, does it persist in there or does it disappear after a few seconds?

    So heres the deal, got a new comp a few weeks ago and installed itunes on it. I'm running windows XP pro (same as on old one) and when I try to run itunes it wont launch. It says its running in my task manager though. I've tried reinstalling it, but same thing happens. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    ok i think we might be onto something here with the first link, the dosent open after upgrade one. Everything went fine until step 7, the main SCinfo file exists, but the SC Info.sidb file that it shows being inside there is NOT there. Could this be a problem with the installation or something else?
    Though i suppose if it wasent there at all it shouldent hurt as your supposed to delete it anyways....but if thats the case (I certainly didnt delete it already)and the fix is to delete a file that isnt there anyways, i'm not sure that will help.

    Like many others I have been reading about online I am having the same error.  I tried the fix listed above and simply wasted 30 minutes of my time. I scheduled a time for Apple to call and help me through this and their solution was for me to call Microsoft for some reason?!!  iTunes made me upgrade then stopped working - I really don't see how this is a Microsoft problem??
    Like Darren if a solution is not found quickly I will also have to sell my phone as the only way to get videos and music on my phone is through the software that you made me upgrade, broke and won't help me fix.
