FCP X PLUG INS/TEMPLATES

Created some templates/plug ins in motion and saved them as generators that appear in the FCP X themes window. Want to delete some of these.....can anyone give me the correct path on my drive where they are likely to be saved? Thx.

They should be here: Users/user/Movies//Motion Templates/Generators.

IWEB PLUG INs TEMPLATES CHEAP! BOOKMARK THIS

What I am proposing is a "central commercial website" that provides "plug in's", templates, add ons, filters for iweb users utilizing the skills of the major contributors to this forum... but paying them a few bucks to do it for us
So lets say "Developer 1" creates a plug in that allows you to create a custom size second window (yes I know this can be done by changing the <herf> Html) but i don't want to learn how to do that and would GLADLY pay $2-$4
for something that would easily do that for me. if 200- 300 other users would pay that, that is $1,200.00 now it is worthwhile for them to pursue the task.
PLEASE BOOKMARK THIS THREAD and if you are a contributor or developer please comment on what is "realistic" and if it can be done. ALSO please post a link to any "script", tutorial, templates, etc.
If you are a frequent visitor to this site please add the functions, plug ins etc that you most want to have.

2) A Plug in that opens a seperate window

We have had great results in marketing software for other clients, (nothing like this consortium effort) and if someone else is already doing this let me know I just want easier better looking sites. (feel free to take the idea and run with it

Can you believe it, but I have actually been
approached several times to do an iWeb book or e-Book
from various people. I have also been asked by
others whether I could set up a website with all the
tricks and tips that I utilize.
While I think that being able to capitalize on this
kind of stuff would be great, I just don't think that
this would necessarily be in the spirit of what I am
trying to do. Varkgirl is right when she says that
all of us come and participate on these forums
because we enjoy it or want to give back or
whatever...not because we expect or want any kind of
payoff from it.
As far as I am concerned, anyone who wants to
publish anything that I have suggested on these
forums is welcome to...without worrying about
attributing me or anything else. The God-honest
truth about things is that everything that I have
come to know about iWeb has been a direct result of
these forums and the collective experience of the
multitude of helpful people here. I personally would
feel sheepish publishing a book and profiting so
selfishly from knowledge that I have 100% gained from
this community.
Now if Apple would like to reward people on this
forum for participating..... with say, a free
MacBookPro.... I'm all ears. haha. Okay, basically
anyone who wants to send me a free MacBookPro, get in
contact with me. Haha. You know what I mean. It
just wouldn't feel "right" to me.

I guess I just saw the combinded "genius" of all you people and felt there should be a central place to store all your knowledge. Plus I really belive in this "plug in" idea I guess we will see what actual "coders" think of the concept?

FCP 6 Plug-ins to FCP 5

hi,
so i have fcp 6 at the office, which comes with some new 'standard plug-ins' from the previous version, i was hoping someone would be able to tell me if i can get those plug-ins onto my personal machine which is running fcp 5?

I don't think so. the new plugins use FX plug technology, and I don't think they are supported then by earlier versions. You could try it though by placing them in your plugins folder in the system library's application support folder.. Still don't think they will work though.

CHV Plug-ins

I purchased the Magic 3D FX plug-ins from CVH, downloaded and installed them. After starting up FCP the plug-ins didn't show up.
Yes, I did a search but didn't find an answer to this problem.
Generally plug-ins are installed in the /Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro/Plug-ins folder, the CHV installer placed the three plug-ins and .key file in the /Library/Plug-ins/FXPlug folder.
For grins I tried coping the plug-in into the asme folder with the rest of the plug-ins, didn't work.
Anyone else had success installing these plug-ins? Any suggestions?

Charles, did you do a restart after installling the plug-ins? I did this and they showed up just fine. FXPlug plug-ins do install in /Library/Plug-ins/FXplug folder. You need to put them back there along with the .key.
The 3D Magic plugs are generators, are you sure you aren't seeing them? Did you also check Motion to see if they are installed correctly.
I've had no problems, you might try contacting CHV, he is always pretty quick to respond.

Wide angle correction plug-ins I'd like to see in FCP

It with some frustration I learn how Adobe Premiere's CS3 is beginning to overtake FCP in terms of useful plug-ins. One very useful plug-in in Premiere is "unpop" (not sure if that's it's actual name) that corrects the barrel distortion on wide angle adapters to give your footage a more Hollywood wide angel look, straightening out those curved verticals towards the edges of the frame. That's a plug-in I'd like to see FCP adopt in the next upgrade. Whilst they're at it, why not add PhotoShop's lens correction filter that can remove/lessen chromatic aberration? Anyone using wide angle lens would find these effects filters indispensable.
Unless of course anyone knows of a (cheap!) set of effects plug-ins that can already do these things?

Such stuff is all relative. Apple is not going to to provide a filter for everything and your need for barrel distortion correction is not anywhere on my list of things to add or to fix in FCP.
There are literally hundreds of plugs available for FCP. All you have to do is invest time to find them, time to test them, and money to buy them.
But there will always be interesting things available for After Effects that won't work in Motion; cool filters for FCP that aren't available for Premiere, stuff you can do in Photoshop that would be silly to have available inside Aperture.

Fcp looking for non-existent plug ins

i installed some demo audio units plug-ins a while back and didn't like them so i deleted them.
i just had to re-install FCP and now, every time i launch, it looks for each and every one of the audio units. i have to click cancel like forty times to start the program. i've thrown away my prefs, reinstalled the prgram, thrown away all the install receipts, made sure the audio untis are gone etc. I also use Logic Pro as well (that's what the audio units were originally intended for)

Free plug ins for fcp

so a few have suggested a couple free plug ins for the garbage point masks, and i do apreciate it, this question is in regards to free plugins in general.. how safe are they and the sites there found on? what are the chances ill ruin my new mac by putting them on my system, sorry to ask so much but im just trying to learn as i go,

Are the sites safe? From what?
Never heard of a plug in for FCP ruining a computer. If they don't work or cause issues, just trash them

Plug-ins crashing FCP

Anyone out there have problems with their plug-ins?
First FCP kept crashing with BCC 5 installed [crashing to desktop]
so I removed it
then it started crashing with Magic Bullet!!!
Anyone have any ideas?

Here's the whole kit and kaboddle:
Close Final Cut Pro.
Go to: Users/your user name/Library/Preferences.
Drag, "com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist" to the trash.
Scroll down to the Final Cut Pro User Settings folder.
Drag, "Final Cut Pro 6 Preferences" to the trash.
Drag, "Final Cut Pro Obj Cache" to the trash
Drag, "Final Cut Pro POA Cache" to the trash.
Go to: Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility
Select your system disk
Click on the Repair Permissions button
Wait for permissions to repair
Restart your computer

FCP takes 15-20 minutes to start, once it's loaded plug-ins

Once plug-ins are loaded and RT bits are done, FCP 7 takes 15-20 minutes to start. I've closed projects, I've deleted preferences, repaired disk permissions but still no joy.
Activity Utility suggests that FCP is looking for a previous files assets.
Had anyone else experienced this?

By default, FCP will try to load the last project that was active.
While 15-20 minutes is a long time to try loading even a missing project and it's media, you might try turning this option off. Click in the menu bar where you see *Final Cut Pro* in bold typeface.
Go to User Preferences.
De-select the option "Open last project on application launch" in the General tab.
Post back with your results.

Opening template plug-ins location?

Hi. OK, I have an admittedly dumb and easy question that I can't seem to get the answer on the FAQs or searching the archives, so I am just gonna ask. I am new to CS5 and have been going thru all of the Video2brain tutorials which makes what I saw where and when a little fuzzy, as they are all blending together...
About a month ago I was playing around in AE and I came across some built in samples that had a variety of curtains parting, or doors opening with a green screen behind them to drop in the video. I didn't pay that much attention to how I found them at the time, figuring I could find them again in the future. (I think I had seen it in Bridge). Now I am looking to add one of these effects to a video, and I can't seem to find them! I have looked in Premiere, Encore and AE and no luck. I'm sure it's really easy to find (after all, I had found it before) and would really appreciate it if one of you super users could tell me how to locate these templates.
BTW, these are not in the samples of text effects or the other digital type effects that open in the plug-ins when opening the "Effects" panel in AE. They are somewhere else, I just don't know where. And no, they were not discussed in the V2B series. I had just stumbled upon them.
Any help is greatly appreciated. While not a big deal, I have the same feeling like when you have a word on the tip of your tongue and it's driving you nuts to find it.

They are animation presets. They should be in the effects and presets panel.

Audio Plug-Ins Won't Let FCP Open

Does anybody know how to disable audio plug-ins within FCP? I have a Waves bundle for use with Pro Tools on the same computer. The Waves plugs are authorized with an iLok. If that iLok isn't present, FCP closes during launch because it can't open the waves plugs.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but its really *not that simple*.
You see FCP will load 3rd party AU's that are in a shared folder - Library -> Audio -> Plug-Ins -> Components. If I want the AU's to show up in Soundtrack for example they have to be in that folder, but then FCP will load them as well.
I have a Powercore that I don't want to use in FCP, but want to use in Soundtrack. It causes FCP's load time to triple and it's really annoying. I've found no trace of a plug-ins folder that is just for soundtrack either.
I suppose that AudioUnit Manager will do the trick but I really did not want to install yet another app to sort this out but that seems to be the only option at this time.

Fcp plug ins

ok I will sound stupid now but I’ve just found out that you can get plug ins for fcp. I’ve downloaded one how do I install it? I’m still new to the mac and I haven’t done this before.
I’ve down loaded one and it comes in a folder. The structure is below
name of plug in>contents>
Then in side that it has to more folders and a file
One of the folder is resources the other folder is MacOs and there is a file called info.plist
Do I need to go into the other folders? and what am I meant to drag and drop where?

After downloading the plug-in drag it to *Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Final Cut Pro System Support > Plugins* folder.
Finally restart Final Cut Pro and the plug-in should show up in the effects menu ( generators or transitions folders depending on what your plugins are) .

How to "not" share FCP Plug-ins with other users

I'm Installing FCP on a new Intelmac. Several users/editors will use the computer in the editsuite.
how can you install your FCP plugins so that they only load if your loggin with your useraccount.
in other words how to NOT share your plug-ins with other useraccounts.... ?

Powered plug-ins loader will not allow opening of FCP 6

Have the most current Mav OS installed on MBP Retina late 2013. When I try to open FCP 6 it comes up with this message:
Powered plug-ins loader reported error 2. Please re-install
Current plugin: UAD Modifilter
Well I unistalled it using UAD 5.4.1 driver which was the version that was installed. Since the MBP doesn't have a PCI slot I did this. Any other suggestions?

How did you install FCP 6 on to this computer? Because the latest OS doesn't let you do it without a lot of trickery. And the latest OS doesn't really support this really old FCP version...so that is an issue.
