FCP X wont open.

The FCP logo stays on the screen reading 'Restoring the window layout'.
I was using it fine earlier and when I restarted my Mac Pro, FCP would not open.
I can access the menu bar at the top of the screen but nothing happen. I also tried re-downloading the program but the same problem is there.
I download the extra content but that has not done anything either. I'm confused as I was using it earlier today.
Appreciated any help

TODAY completes an year I bought the computer, so I am oficially screwed.

FCP PROJECT WONT OPEN DUE TO BORIS TITLE PLUG IN

Not sure if anyone else has had this but have been working on a project in the fcp 7.0.1 for 4 weeks now with no trouble at all and have just tried to open it. It will not open at all and keep coming up with an error log with the following title: FINAL CUT PRO UNEXPECTEDLY QUIT WHILE USING THE TITLE CRAWL PLUG-IN
Any ideas as i am scratching my head over this one.

I have also been suffering from crashes and shut-downs attributed to Boris FX plug-ins.
Someone far more experienced in FCP suggested that I download and run a 'preference manager': http://www.digitalrebellion.com/pref_man.htm
There may well be other products out there ... however, I did just that and deleted my prefs ... so far (fingers crossed) things seem to be OK.

FCP 5 wont open on my G4

I just got a new Dual 450 MHz powerPC G4 1GB SDRAM and i wiped it clean and installed OS 10.4.7 and installed FCP 5. i got it all installed and when i go to open it, it will open but as soon as its done loading it closes on me. anyone know whats going on with it?

Why did you wipe it clean? Did it have FCP on it before? How did you wipe it clean? It may be as simple as a preferences issue in which case you need to download FCP Rescue 5:

Compressor wont open

compressor wont open. I tried reinstalling and i tried reinstalling the 1.1 update and it still wont open.
i am using fcp HD.....when i try to go to compressor from within fcp the computer crashes.
i am on a powerbook g4 osx 10.3.9

yes repaired permissions and ran updater....
now my fcp hd wont open...i tried reinstalling that to no avail....

Final Cut 5.0 wont open after hard drive confusion

i think someone in my studio unplug a external hard drive because when i checked the timeline many files were offline i closed out of the program and re-opened and it said all my mac hd hard drive was offline i tried to reconnect it and once i did it just shut the program down and now it wont open... any way to fix this???

I would first reboot the computer and then try to open FCP again.
If that doesn't work, you might trash FCP preferences.
Download FCP Rescue to help with this.

my Final cut pro wont open after installing universal upgrage, I installed just the FCP 5 from the universal disc i got from apple now it wont open goes almost all the way then simply quits without explanation
I am afraid to instal the other apps for fear I would lose everything

Download and run FCP Rescue. It fixes a lot of things.

i have been working on a project all week and im finished with it now. im ready to export the movies and now my project wont open it says its unreadable or is for a newer version of Final Cut. but im using the same one i made it in.

Close FCE and Repair Permissions. Reboot the machine. Instead of launching FCE and opening the project, go to the project's .fcp file and double click. If not, after making sure FCE is not running, find and trash the FCE preferences. Reboot and launch FCE.

Motion, wont open.

I'm having trouble getting a Motion 2 to work. The welcome screen comes up then you can select a preset but the next window only opens the file browser. Nothing else will open. Trouble also with Compressor (wont open) and DVDSP (preferences opens then freezes). Funny thing is, Livetype and FCSHD (Academic version) work flawlessly and I'm in the middle of a long project. Any advice for how to get Motion to function without jeopardizing FCP? I have only 512MB of RAM. Would this be an issue? It is within the min specs.

FCP Won't Open

I've been using FC Studio Pro for about a month and am midway through my second project. FCP 5.02 wont open. Information screens will load, check box for External A/V will load, clicking continue clears box and FCP status bar disappears...nothing. I've deleted program, re loaded, reinstalled upgrade to 5.02 and run FCP Rescue 5. All other Studio Pro Applications will load.

Fcpx wont open project

The"body party" project i am working on just wont open. the even folder shows up but i only see the title information for the actual project. when i try to open it the program crashes. Ive been working on coloring the project with the mlooks 2 plugin those were the last changes i made. i also have other projects on the same hard drive and they are fine.

In the Finder open up the project folder. Open up Backups folder and drag the file that is inside it to the same level in the folder hierarchy as the CurrentVersion file. Hide the Current Version file in a temp folder. Rename the backup file CrrentVerion.fcpproject.
Launch FCP and see whether project opens.

Do you mean that the old version of iMovie (which version?) worked until you installed the FCP trial?
Note that you can only transfer projects from the latest version of iMovie (10) to FCP 10.1

Mail wont open and restart cancelled by mail

when I try to open my e-mail it wont open - it just doesnt do anything. When I try to download updates or shut down computer it says it is intereupted by mail. Help

Force Quit the Mail Application
Click the Apple Logo in the top left corner of the screen
Click "Force Quit"
Select the MAIL application
Force Quit the app
After the application is quit then you should be able to restart your computer.
The Application is fully quit when the is no little glowing dot under the application icon.

Can you start QuickTime on your computer?
You'll probably have to search for the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and use it to remove QuickTime Player and iTunes. Then download and install the iTunes again.
