Fcp4.5 compatable w/ macbook?

I just recently bought a macbook and i had all the files transferd from an ibook g4, now my fcp4.5 says when i try to open up fcp ...This software requires certain hardware or software which is missing. and the AGP graphics card is missing, dosent this macbook come with 1, or do i need to have 1 installed ?
I had someone send me a link to try to fix it but it did;nt seem to work. Any suggestions?

FCP 4.5 is made for the PPC chipped MAcs. For the Intel chipped Macs, you'll need to upgrade to FCP 5.1. See: www.apple.com/universal/crossgrade for Apple's special pricing on this.
One more note; Apple does not support FCP on the MacBook. It is supported on teh MacBook Pro, however.

  • Can anyone tell me the compatability between macbook pro running lion and the kindle touch?

I originally wanted an Ipad, but when I already have a macbook pro, and an android phone, planning to upgrade to an iphone when I qualifiy for one, I could not see paying the money for an ipad when between my computer and phone I have all the capabilities covered. However, being a college student who uses pdf files of textbooks a lot, sometimes pulling out my laptop every time I want to look some little thing up in a textbook gets old. And carrying all my engineering textbooks everywhere is going to kill my back one of these days. So I want a cost friendy e-reader or tablet. Ive heard good things about kindles. But what is the compatibility like for a mac? will it be a pain in the but like my android?

Get an iPad. Once you have that, you may not really need to spend the money on an iPhone, since the iPad will do everything the iPhone does (and be easier to see doing it) except make phone calls, and even an Android phone can do that.

  • Family Tree Maker compatibility with MacBook Pro upgrades

Blessings to those who are able to reply with possible answers.   I am sorry....but I have spent days working on getting my two USB ports to work also.  I basically use the USB ports for a wireless mouse and various flashdrives/memory sticks.  I have a MacBook Pro 2011 Snow Leopard 10.6.8  I have tried software update, SMC and PRAM resets, battery reset, hardware test, creating a new user account....and browsing and reading numerous discussion boards.....awgh!  I have stopped short of using my install DVD (fear of loosing data), upgrading to Lion or Mountain Lion (some fear of loosing an application that might not be compatible  FAMILY TREE MAKER 2010  19.2.1.241), contacting an Apple Store (AppleCare or whatever--live 2 hours away + fear of expense), and of course, trashing the laptop.  Does anyone out there have any possible solutions?   I see I am not alone.  --A frustrated first-time Apple products owner.

Quote below from the Family Tree site:
    System Requirements:
Mac OS X 10.5 or later, including OS X Lion (10.7)
    Intel-based Mac
    DVD Drive
All online features require Internet access.
Since Mountain Lion has not been released, there is no mention of compatibility.

  • Wireless N Compatibility with MacBook.

    Greetings,
I recently upgraded our home wireless router from the trusty old Motorola SBG900 to a LinkSys WRT610N - mainly for the benfits of 802.11n.
It appears that all is working well - the MacBook under Leopard connects to the router at 802.11n speeds. The question is that under Vista, it "appears" that it only connects at 802.11g speeds.
I have done some digging, and the Vista Airport Card Driver says "Broadcom 802.11n", but the chipset (BCM4328) only lists 802.11a/b/g compatibility.
    Soooo....
1.) How can I verify 802.11n connectivity in Vista?
2.) If I am NOT connecting at 802.11n, and the chipset does not support 802.11n, how does the Apple Airport Card in my MacBook get 802.11n under Leopard?
    Thank you for humoring me.
    With regards...

    Greetings,
Well I did some more experiments and I found out that 802.11n is supported and on the 5 GHz band no less.
The Linksys WRT610N allows one to assign a separate SSID and connection standard for each of the supported bands - 2.4 and 5 GHz.
By doing this - setting the 2.4 GHz band to supported 802.11g only under one SSID, and the 5 GHz band to support 802.11n under another SSID. I was able to verify that the Airport Card in my MacBook does support wireless N in Windows Vista.
    Happy days!
One behavior of note: before I made the settings change, the Network Connection Center in Vista reported that my connection rate was 54 Mbps. After the change at the router, and before changing the MacBook, the connection speed dropped to 48 Mbps. After changing the wireless connection settings on the MacBook, Vista merrily reported 270 Mbps - the same as Leopard.
Many thanks and sorry for using up the bandwidth.
    With regards...

  • What logic boards are compatable with macbook pro mid 2010

i'm just curious about what logic boards are compatable with my macbook pro mid 2010?  didn't know if i needed to stay within the same year or if there are others that would work with mid 2010 layout inside the casing.  right now i have 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MB and really looking to upgrade this if i can find one online from a mac with a broken screen or some defect with the logic board intact.

Rather than the Samsung EVO, I would get a Crucial M500 series - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-960GB-Solid-State-Drive/dp/B00BQ8RGL6/ref=pd_sim _computers_5 - they just seem to 'play well' with Macs where some people have reported problems with Macs and the EVO series.
    Good luck,

  • HP 23xi / 25xi compatibility with Macbook Air 2013?

    Hi,
I'm looking to buy an external monitor (HP 23xi or 25xi) for my Macbook Air 2013 (10.9.1).
Since the MBA doesn't have a HDMI output, I was wondering if a Mini DisplayPort-to-DVI can be used to connect the external monitor?
I've gone through several forums, and many guys seem to have problems relating to blurry displays on their HP monitors -- when hooked up using DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapters
So, can anyone confirm the compatibility of MBA with the HP monitor, and the adapter used?
    Many Thanks
    Piyush

    Hi Piyush90.
I found information on Apple.com about a "Thunderbolt" connector that enables you to connect your Mac Book Air with other monitors. It doesn't state specifically what monitors it will work with but it looks promising that it will be a viable solution to your question.
I've included a link below to the webpage about Thunderbolt.

  • Compatibility between macbook pro and an external monitor

hi, i have a macbook pro retina 15'', with intel iris pro graphics 5200 and windows 8.1 .
i try to install an external monitor (http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?slg=en&scy=pl&ctn=17S4SB/00) with mdp - vga adapter but the resolution it is very bad and it is impossible to calibrate.
i install the driver of the monitor and the new driver of intel iris, i try every resolution but in the external monitor also 1680x1240 it's too big.
instead with os x,  also 1280x1024 (recommended resolution), can be seen perfectly.
help me I'm going crazy. thanks

Then I would try connecting your display in the off state and then turn it on once your MBP is sleeping. It's possible the MBP, or display in fact, is getting confused.
Also, always be sure your MBP has actually made into sleep by the pusating sleep indicator light. If it isn't pulsating it isn't sleeping.

  • HT3455 HDCP Compatibility with MacBook Air?

I have a mid 2011 MacBook Air running OS X Lion 10.7.5 and the latest version of Itunes. I downloaded HD TV episodes of Breaking Bad Season 4 yesterday and cannot play them, I get a message that they can only be played on HDCP compatible devices. How can my Mac not be compatible with iTunes content?
I have already looked up this issue on the support forums and found several solutions, none of which have worked. I am trying to play the movies just on my Mac, not to any external device. I tried looking for updates of iTunes / OS X and have the latest versions of both. I tried going to my iTunes media folder to see if there were non HD versions there as well, there were not. I checked my preferences in iTunes under Store, to ensure that it was set to 720p which it is. I am all out of options.
Can anyone help me play this content, or help me raise it as a complaint and get a refund?
Thanks a million! Oh, and Merry Christmas

It is now 2 years later, and I still have this issue, although it started later. Until December of 2014 I was able to watch movies from the iTunes store, then it suddenly stopped. I have the same MacBook Air as you do.
iTunes support is very polite, partially refunds your issue (they also have issues calculating), but is for the rest completely useless—they don't seem to be able to comprehend the issue.
I now rent movies from the competition—their offerings work fine.

  • Compatibility issues MacBook (Yosemite and Retina Display) and CS6?

I recently had to buy a new MacBook because of a mainboard defect of my old one. The old one had one of those fabulous anti-glare-displays with high resolution.
Now, the just sell these retina displays, which I detest.
I tried to work with Photoshop and InDesign. It is almost impossible to do so, because everything looks blurred. I have no idea how to fix it. Neither does Apple Support.
I´d hate if I had to switch to Creative Cloud because it is way to pricey for a part-time user like me.
So I´d be very, very happy if someone would happen to know a way out of misery for this.
    Thanks in advance!

There is nothing to fix. In CS6 only PS and AI support Retina and you do that by installing the respective updates.

  • External hard disk compatibility with Macbook Pro

I am a PC user and I am thinking of getting a Macbook Pro but have some reservations regarding the following:
Will my existing USB external hard disk drives continue to work with MBP?
Will I have any folder sharing issues between my PCs and MBP?
Or, should I really need to dual boot or virtualize Windows 7 to avoid these issues?
Any tips on how to dual boot or virtualize Windows 7 in MBP would also be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

Will my existing USB external hard disk drives continue to work with MBP?
There should be no problem. Can you tell us how the drives are formatted?
Will I have any folder sharing issues between my PCs and MBP?
You shouldn't have any issues it's very easy to set up. Read this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1812?viewlocale=en_US
Or, should I really need to dual boot or virtualize Windows 7 to avoid these issues?
That's up to you. If all you want to do is file sharing then there is no need to dual boot, simple networking will solve that problem.
Any tips on how to dual boot or virtualize Windows 7 in MBP would also be much appreciated.
You can use Boot Camp or Vitualization using Parallels or VM Ware Fusion. All three will allow you to run Windows on a Mac. If you go the Boot Camp route you have turned a partition of your Mac into a PC. If you use Fusion or Parallels this allows you to run MS Windows inside OS X. Performance for most tasks is excellent.
I would also suggest you study both:

    Mac 101

  • Compatibility of macbook pro with aztech router

I am using macbook pro and recently i tried to connect my macbook pro to my aztech router (DSL1000EW(L)), but it caused my entire network to hang and not responding at all. All my other devices, like pc could not access to internet after my macbook pro connected to the router. It was shown from my pc that there was internet access but I couldnt online at all. Anyone who can help me?

Hey... I've been toying with this for a very long time... I've figured it out... Apparently the aztech model doesn't seem to know how to resolve the ISP DNS addresses accurately. Manually entering the DNS addresses for yer ISP is so much more effective.
    For Your MacBook Pro,
    1) Click the Apple Logo at the upper left-hand corner, and click System Preferences. Then click on AirPort.
    2) Choose "Advanced" and click on DNS.
    3) If you are using the standard Streamyx DNS, click the little "+" sign and enter 202.188.0.133 first. Click the "+" sign again and add 202.188.1.5 next.
    4) Click "OK" and then click "Apply". Close the system preferences pane and have fun.
For Your Windows PC, (Windows 7... Windows Vista should be similar),
    1) Open Network and Sharing Center.
    2) Click on "Change Adapter Settings" in the quickbar to the right.
    3) If you are wired to the router, double-click "Local Area Network" (Double-click Wireless Network if you're wirelessly connected.)
    4) Click on "Properties" and double-click "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" in the connection items container.
    5) Select "Obtain an IP address automatically (Assuming you didn't disable DHCP in you're router).
    6) Select "Use the following DNS server addresses.
    7) Enter 202.188.0.133 for the "Preferred DNS Server" and 202.188.1.5 for the "Alternate DNS Server"
    8) Click "OK" twice and then click "Close".
These DNS servers are the standard DNS server addresses for streamyx. If you find you cannot access a number of websites that may have been filtered by Streamyx (or rather not, according to them), you can choose to use Google's Open DNS. The primary DNS is 8.8.8.8 and the secondary DNS is 8.8.4.4.
Also, if you choose to use the Open DNS, you need to configure the DNS addresses accordingly in your router's configuration as well. You may either SSH into the router or access it through the main gate way (192.168.1.1 by default.)
Good luck. I hope this solves your problem. I faced the exact same issue. Devices such as certain smartphones may not give you the function of configuring a custom DNS server but may still function normally via wireless to the DSL1000EW.
This is the most redundant router I have ever owned.

  • Compatibility re MacBook Pro (early 09) and Lexmark 7100 Series All in One?

Just purchased a new MacBook Pro with OS 10.5.6. Having difficulty getting my Lexmark 7100 All in One Printer/etc. to work with it. Computer does not recognize Lexmark 7100 printer/etc. and I keep getting messages saying that Lexmark works with OS 10.2.3 and later, not Classic. Of course computer has OS 10.5.6. Already downloaded new Lexmark drivers; did not help. Used this Lexmark with my G4 computer and OS 10.4.2. Is it compatible with OS 10.5.6?

Has it created a virtual printer icon on the Desktop ?
If not then it's not installed or configured correctly. It should work once you've got the settings right ...
(I has one that did work with 10.5 but recently upgraded to a Canon Pixma)

  • Galaxy S4 and Nokia Lumia Compatibility on MacBook Pro

If I buy one of these phones will they be supported on my MacBook Pro?  It is an Early 2011 15" MBP.

Sorry, but you aren't going to find many people with an answer to such a problem here. I suggest an Android or Samsung forum.

  • SONY HDD Video CAM Software in-compatibility w/MacBook

I've just purchased a SONY hard drive video camera(DCR- SR60). It came with software that is not compatible with my MacBook. The handbook suggestion is to purchase Mac compliant Pixela software: Capty MPEG Edit EX (video editing software) and Capty DVD/VCD 2(DVD authoring software).
I've not seen much good press on Pixela. Anyone got a better idea or a comment on the suggested software.

As Troy mentions, iMovie and iDVD are included with your Mac and much easier and more powerful than they are given credit for. Try them.
There are also support forums for those apps should you need them. iMovie is used to create to movie and that forum is found HERE. iDVD is use to create the menus and put that movie into a DVD format, then burn it to disk and that forum can be found HERE.

  • DVD region compatability on Macbook

I bought a Macbook in Britain, and it wont play region 2 DVDs. Any ideas? Is it possible to de-region a Macbook, in the same way you would a DVD player?

Yes, the previous answers are absolutely correct. But just to clarify - MacBooks are allowed to change their DVD region 5 times before the 5th region becomes permanent. Presumably, this is to allow one to use your computer around the world, but not allow you to bypass DVD copyright/region laws.
So yes, it looks like you region changes are "used up". I don't know of any other way besides using a third-party solution like mentioned above.
