  • Why would a font appear different between Ppt for mac and mail? specifically the lower case "v"... spelled in a sequence

I am using the Hipster Pro font... and when I use it in ppt for MAC, Evana-- the v in Evana has a swoop that extends outside and in mail it doesn't.
I'm not sure why this discrepancy exists as my logo doesn't have it and its causing me problems.
When I try and do a cut/paster for this box it changes it too.

Jeff is right about the two options for inserting a fonts character - but Most Importantly - he is also right in his statement (in agreement with mine) that if the audience machine does not have the font installed they will not see "Hipster Script Pro"
Here's what ya do - make it a "PICTURE" and insert it inline, just like we do here. If this Simple Editor can display it, you should be Golden.

  • Clean install FCP6 and Leopard

Well, as some of you can see, there are several of us with problems with FCP after installing Leopard. There appears to be different solutions, I have tried most of them except CLEAN INSTALL. I really don't want to do it as it will take forever and require me to reinstall all old progams, update them to newer versions. register them etc.
So I wanted to hear from some of you who did a clean install and had success, or not.
And also what steps you took. I.e. did you install final cut AFTER the clean install of leopard, or did you go back to Tiger?
I looked through the other threads and couldn't find any step by step to clean instal to a successful FCP6 working.
    Any help would be nice.

  • Same font appears different in two systems

The problem principally lies with transaction MM03 (Material Master - Display). The material description in "Additional Data" tab in any Material View is appearing to be of different fonts in two different client systems.
Upon checking, I found that both systems use the same font (Arial Monospace for SAP) with fotn size of 9.
Hence, I am not able to understand the difference in appearance of the two.
I have tried comapring I18N settings of both the systems. Please suggest a way to get rid of this problem.

  • Font appears different in Muse (without smooth anti aliasing)

I am using Google Font Roboto and noticed that it appears thicker when i type it in Muse than in Photoshop. When i have anti-aliasing on 'Strong' in photoshop it mirrors what is showing in Muse, but i prefer the default Smooth anti-aliasing. Is there a way to turn this on in Muse?

Adobe Muse CC 2014 (font strong, bolder)
    https://db.tt/JMZhwPtT
    Photoshop CC 2014 (Correct version)
    https://db.tt/QLQtxYZL
Whats interesting is the output in a web browser varies from browser to browser and computer to computer. I've tried it on many computers and browsers. It shows correctly on all macs in Safari but mostly incorrectly in Firefox and Chrome. However, i tried on a 2008 Lion Mac which works correctly in all browsers. On Windows computers it shows correctly nearly every time.

  • My fonts are different from DW to Photoshop

    Hi all,
I have designed a layout in photoshop, using sample text of Arial 10pt with no layer effects.
However, when I import my layout into CSS, and then add real text inside the DIVS, the Arial 10pt font appears different.
As shown above, the text becomes significantly larger in DW (top) than it appears in Photoshop (bottom) and also becomes smoother and less pixelated looking.
So, how do I overcome this text difference? Is it possible for me to get my text in Dreamweaver to look EXACTLY like it does in Photoshop?
    Thanks if anyone can help,
    Korey

Point size is nearly meaningless on screen. It depends on too many factors. It's main use is for print.
Use pixel size. You can set Photoshop to use pixels for text in your preferences, or if you do print work, you can change it on a case by case basis.

  • Get rid of highlighted text and change fonts in remember

So I copied texts from internet and pasted it in Remember but the text was highlighted in purple (like in microsoft word) and the font was different from the font I chose for my z10, anyone knows how to change it back to 'normal'?

  • Private Fonts Appear in Numbers -- How?

I have a family of fonts (Swiss 721) installed privately in my ~/Library/Fonts folder.
When my wife logs into the computer, Swiss 721 does not show up in Pages or in Font Book. If she does a Spotlight search for "Swiss," nothing appears. This is the expected behavior.
However, when she runs Numbers, the Swiss 721 family of fonts shows up. They mostly work: Outline fonts show as outlines. Condensed fonts appear to be condensed. And bold fonts appear bold. They all seem to have spacing problems. There are no font warnings issued when she opens a Numbers document containing any of the Swiss 721 fonts.
I've tried using the atsutil to clear the font cache. I've tried deleting the iWork font cache as well. Neither has corrected the problem. When she starts up Numbers, there are these fonts that she cannot otherwise access. Very odd.
So, how is this font family showing up in Numbers for my wife when it is actually installed privately under my user directory? Somehow Numbers is seeing them, but not perfectly, since, as I mentioned, the spacing is way off.
    Thank you,
    James Detwiler

That was the solution. Auto activation was turned on.
There was a copy of the font on an external drive. Auto activation allowed that font to be used without being installed. (The font did not display correctly, which alerted us that something odd was happening.)
    Thank you!!

Below taken directly from the v1.6x API java.awt.Font class doco:he Java Platform distinguishes between two kinds of fonts: physical fonts and
    logical fonts.
Physical fonts are the actual font libraries containing glyph data and tables to
map from character sequences to glyph sequences, using a font technology
such as TrueType or PostScript Type 1. All implementations of the Java
Platform must support TrueType fonts; support for other font technologies is
implementation dependent. Physical fonts may use names such as Helvetica,
Palatino, HonMincho, or any number of other font names. Typically, each
physical font supports only a limited set of writing systems, for example, only
Latin characters or only Japanese and Basic Latin. The set of available
physical fonts varies between configurations. Applications that require specific
fonts can bundle them and instantiate them using the createFont method.
Logical fonts are the five font families defined by the Java platform which must
be supported by any Java runtime environment: Serif, SansSerif, Monospaced,
Dialog, and DialogInput. These logical fonts are not actual font libraries.
Instead, the logical font names are mapped to physical fonts by the Java
runtime environment. The mapping is implementation and usually locale
dependent, so the look and the metrics provided by them vary. Typically, each
logical font name maps to several physical fonts in order to cover a large range
    of characters.
Peered AWT components, such as Label and TextField, can only use logical
    fonts.
For a discussion of the relative advantages and disadvantages of using
physical or logical fonts, see the Internationalization FAQ document.

  • Font appearance and bullets

When a line is formatted using a bullet, the font size
appears to change when viewed in the published or compiled modes.
I've checked the font and it is the same. Try it and see. Add a
text caption and type something with no bullets. Add another text
caption and type something with bullets. Ensure the font style and
size is the same. Press F10 to publish the next 5 slides and you'll
see the two caption boxes font look different. They also look
different when you compile and publish the presentation. The
program makes it look like you're using two different font
sizes---an inconsistency....Anyone know how to remedy this?

    Hi there
Most of the time we see issues related to using Transparent Text Captions because the Transparent captions anti-alias the text that is superimposed. When this occurs, if you contrast a typical Transparent Text Caption with a regular Text Caption, you think the Transparent Text Captions look "odd" because of the anti-aliasing.
Fellow Adobe Community Professional Paul Dewhurst made the first discovery of how to prevent the Transparent Text Captions from anti-aliasing the text. And that was to apply a background highlight on a space using a specific color.
Later we discovered that the presence of a bullet on one or more lines of text would cause anti-aliasing not to occur. So a common trick we suggest is to place the insertion point at the end of all the text and press Enter once or twice. Then apply bullets to the last line of text. Once you have done this, size the caption so the empty bulleted line isn't visible.
Captivate 3 introduced a new setting you can use to control this behavior for the whole project. Captivate 4 continues to offer the setting. Click Edit > Preferences > Project > SWF Size and Quality.

  • How do I get ACaslon and AGaramond to appear correctly in the Font Menu?

Working on a PC, ACaslon and AGaramond (opentype) appear on the font list separate from their Bold/SemiBold counterparts.  I have read the release info and understand this is not a unique issue, but this quirk hampers usability.  I'd like to be able to select "Bold" and for the Regular/Roman to then appear with the actual Bold version of the font, not the "Fake Bold" created by MS Word.  It is too tedious to go back and change every word I want to be Bold by actually changing the font to ACaslon/AGaramond Bold.  Is there a way to fix this so that when I select ACaslon/AGaramond, I can simply hit Ctrl + B and get the "True Bold"?  Thank you!

There is no such “fix” available unless you were to modify the fonts themselves, which we would stronly urge against.
The issue is one of taste and design as well as the limitations of how Windows GDI applications (i.e., not graphic arts software such as Adobe Creative Suite applications) deal with fonts.
The designers of these particular fonts believe that the semibold style faces are more appropriate for bolding from the regular style faces than the bold style faces.

  • Image appears different in Library and Develop modes?

I have an image that appears different depending on whether it is in the Library Module or the Develop Module. Only this one image does this. The develop module version is the one I want to work on in Photoshop. However, when I click on "Edit in Adobe Photoshop CS3" the resulting tiff that opens in PS has an appearance that matches that of the Library module version of the image. It makes no difference whether I click on "Edit in PS CS3" from the Library or Develop module, the tiff always matches the Library Module version of the raw file.
Any ideas what might be causing this?
    Thanks.
    J.

How are you calibrating your monitor? The only real difference between the Library and develop module is that the Library module shows a preview that is generally stored in the adobeRGB color space. The Develop module uses a color space based on prophotoRGB primaries and can encompass any color your camera can capture. It is possible that your green falls outside of adobeRGB and gets clipped in the library preview, while in the develop module it shows them. This is only possible to see if you have a wide gamut monitor, or when your calibration software generates a perceptual rendering intent. If you export and you do not use the prophotoRGB color space, you will loose these colors.
