FCP6 Lag Issue while editing

I am editing a SD Anamorphic project. The footage was captured on my MacBook Pro 2.33Ghz with FCP6 I copied it to a WD My Book Studio and imported the files into FCP6 on my iMac. I used the proper settings to capture the footage from my XL2.
But now, as I edit, anytime I play the active sequence I get lag at random points the sequence. I don't have any other sequences open and if this were a high res project I could understand the lag but I recently edited a project using HD video recorded at 100Mbps per second and had no issues.
I have reason to believe that this issue could be tied to the firewire because when I first began to capture this project I was having time code drops on the iMac but tried in on my MacBookPro and no issues. I am lost at this point. I have 2 weeks of editing left with the project and I editing to fix this lag before it continues to make the edit session unbearable.
Any ideas?

I doubt this is the problem, but WD external drives have been on the naughty list for video use for a while now due to their unmodifiable spin down behavior:
All WD external hard drives will spin down (enter into power saver mode) after 10 minutes of drive inactivity. Once the drive is accessed again, the drive will exit from the power saver mode and spin back up.
Please Note: This is a permanent feature of most of our external hard drives and cannot be disabled. WD externals that include the WD SmartWare software can use the software to change and/or disable this feature.

From what I can tell, My Book Studio drives do include the SmartWare utility so you can shut off the spindown feature.

Major issues while editing in FCP7

Hi Folks,
I recently got a new Macbook Pro and the only reason for that was to use Final cut pro.
now that i have the software and have started editing i have realized that fcp is sosooo slow I mean when i import my video for some basic editing also nothing complex it hangs and takes a long time.
The user experience is just not what i expected honestly, earlier i was using corel video studio on the PC even though it wasn't as slick as FCP it so fast as compared to what i am facing in fcp.
Can anyone help me out by giving any tips... is there a setting i am missing.
I am using video which i can from my cannon hf 200.. they output in .mts format and i use a video coverter called Xilisoft to make them in HD Mov video and then import them in FCP.
Even scrubbing the time line hangs and i get a circular read symbol..... and a basic chroma key video takes 3 hours to render!!
My Macbook has 2.53 Ghz and 4 gb ram with 250 hard drive space.
Any help is appreciated coz as of now i am moving along in snail's pace...

Shane's Stock Answer #34 - Internal system drive cannot be used as media drive.
It is not recommended that you use your internal system drive to capture video to.
Your internal drive contains the Mac operating system, and it is very busy constantly loading or referencing system resources. This causes you to drop frames while capturing or playing video files.
For best results, you need either a secondary internal drive (if using a Mac tower), or external drive, like a firewire or eSATA drive. Never USB*.

Now...CODECS. Click once on the QT files and then GET INFO...what does it say for codec there?
AVCHD...FCP deals with that format without third party converters. Just open LOG AND TRANSFER in the FCP FILE menu, then click on the FOLDER icon and navigate to the card, or offloaded card and it should bring in the clips. FCP defaults to importing them as ProRes 422, which will make files with large data rates... and you'll need FW800 drives at least to deal with them. If you have FCP 7, you can choose other ProRes formats that have smaller data rates (ProRes LT, ProRes Proxy).

Performance issues while editing automation?

Hello,
I'm working on a video mix project in logic 8. The pieces are about 20 minutes long but there are not a huge number of tracks (8). I am about 12 minutes through and getting some serious system slowdown when editing automation. I have buffers maxed, plenty of room on HD. I am occasionally getting 'out of memory' messages. This is the first project I have used logic for and I was thrilled with it until now. What am I missing?

Issue while editing Other Bank

All,
We are having trouble with Other Bank (IT9, ST1) on ESS. The Use Case for this is A6. When we are tring to edit the existing Other Bank, it gives a error message saying: "Change in Payroll Past not Possible". Even when we select future dated, and select a records way after the previous payment dat it gives the same error. It almost looks like the system is not delimiting the existing record and creating a new one, instead it is trying to edit the current record in the past, which triggers the standard error message. Would someone please help me with this?

Additional, if you want to delelmited subtype in ESS, please dont use
"edit" button and you need to use button: "New other bank".
A6: Multiple infotype records of the same type (e.g. other bank)
may exist for an employee at the same time. "New <infotype/subtype>"
button will always be available on the overview screen of the
concerned scenario. E.g., suitable in Other bank.
Ensure you are using new ITF note 1447867

Audio issue while editing

I don't know if I've changed a setting or what has happened, but when when I edit frame by frame in a sequence, no audio plays, and the audio mixer to the right of the sequence stays static at a level and doesn't recognize when I am advancing to new frames. However, if I press the space bar, and let the sequence start playing in normal speed, sound comes out perfectly and the audio mixer recognizes the different levels. This is making my editing extremely difficult.
I am editing 24p native footage if that is relevant.
Does anyone have any thoughts / ideas?

I'm running into an issue while installing oracle 10g express edition on my Ubuntu 10.04-64 bit installed machine using oracle-xe-universal_10.2.0.1-1.0_i386.deb package. The issue actually came up when I was trying to reinstall the package after uninstalling it due to some problem I had with my login credentials. To elaborate further on it, the /etc/init.d/oracle-xe script does not get created when I execute the debian package and thus i'm unable to configure the required credentials and stuff after the installation. I doubt whether this has something to do with the procedure I followed when uninstalling the previous package it. But what I did was just what's mentioned in the following [http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25329_01/doc/install.102/b25144/toc.htm] user guide published by oracle.
Another important clue would be, the platform of my machine is amd64bit although I'm dealing with an installation package preferred for i386. But I believe it's the only thing available in the oracle software download section. Hence I had to use the --force-architecture option to install it. But after reading some post published on this forum, I've figured out that it does not affect the usual execution of the software. Anyway, I would greatly appreciate some help on this matter.

Finally I've managed to find a solution for this issue. Thanks a lot for all the replies.
Here's how I got rid of it.
Addressing all the facts one by one,
1.The problem of not getting the /etc/init.d/oracle-xe script generated was avoided
by removing all the configuration files that were previously created while installing
the product. The following command can be used to accomplish that task.
*$ dpkg --purge oracle-xe*
2.Next, Initially the password I used during the configuration process was "admin".
Although I tried a couple of times installing the product providing the aforementioned
password, the web UI kept prompting "Invalid Credentials" message not allowing me
to login. But, this particular issue could be avoided by giving some other simple
password.
Finally, got it working and once again thanks a bunch for taking the burden of
replying this thread.

Sounds like you may have been in extended display mode. If so, all you had to do was drag a window to the projector display. Or, if you wanted mirrored mode, in display preferences select check mirror display.

A New but Persistent Lag issue in FCP6 and OS X 10.5

I have Final Cut Studio 2 installed on an iMac 2.8Ghz (Intel) and a MacBook Pro 2.33 (1st Gen Intel). I have successfully run FCP6 on both these computer for 2 years on projects ranging from SD to Uncompressed HD. I have never had a lag issue. But recently I have had an agonizing time working on two DV-NTSC Anamorphic projects shot and captured on a Canon XL2. I also use WD My Book Drives for capture. Say what you will about the WDs but I have never had an issue until the recently (past 3 months).
On the two separate projects I had trouble capturing straight to the WD drives. This is new issue I have never had previously. Once I disconnected the Firewire I capture straight to the drive with no issues. But once I placed the footage into the sequence timeline and played through it at random time the video will lag and then come back. I shuttle back over the same spot and there is no problem. Continue to play through it and same lag issue intermittently though the entire sequence.
I have tried all the basics: Changing the RT mode, having only one sequence open, playback quality...
This issue occurs on both machines.
I am stuck. Any suggestions?

Issue while Upgrading to SQL 2014 from 2012. " The specified Edition upgrade is not supported."

Hello Team
I am seeing this issue while I am trying to do an in-place upgrade from SQL Server 2012 to SQL 2014. Both being Enterprise Editions I am still seeing the below error message in the Feature Upgrade checks.
" The specified Edition upgrade is not supported"
Please let me know if anyone else has faced this issue and any workarounds? I am not doing "Edition Upgrade", just wanted to upgrade same edition of 2012 to 2014.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I was told that it is SQL 2014 Enterprise Edition. Is there a way to verify that? Also yes I did not select the free Evaluation or Express Editions.
Just run the setup you got for SQL server 2014 and you would reach to page where it would say enterprise or standard after that cancel the setup . Actually version number can be found from Mediainfo located in same folder where setup.exe is located but edition
cannot be found by that way.

I just update to iOS 4.2.1 few days ago, well, the new features were just work fine, but I found a lag problem with my iPhone4, yes, it was LAG!
here are some cases：
1. lag when scrolling（such as in address book or other pages with long contents)
2. lag when opening a folder or closing a folder
3. pressing HOME, the zoom out animation sometimes lag
4. pressing APPs, the zoom in animation maybe lag

the issue seems just like a computer in high CPU usage or with low memory, and sometimes it made me a little bit freak out....
after I cleared all the histories and cookies and caches and closed all background APPs, the issue remained,,,

and my iOS 4.2.1 works fine inside the APPs,,,
I wonder if any other users got such lag issue, or it was just something wrong with my iPhone,,,,

VS2012 SSRS Project - Intellisense problem while editing dataset

Environment: VS2012 with SSDT, Reporting Services project
When editing the dataset query (which is T-SQL code) of any report and I try to type
table.field, when I reach the period (.) character Intellisense pops up with Equals & ReferenceEquals, and interferes with completing the
table.field statement.
This is while editing in: Datasets>Mydataset>Dataset Properties>Query>Expression
Its extremely annoying and unnecessary to have to correct the unhelpful and ignorant autocomplete of Intellisense.
Turning off Intellisense in Tools>Options>Text Editor>SQL Server Tools>Intellisense has no effect.
Is there a way to:
1) Inform Intellisense to NOT try to insert non-SQL code, or
2) Turn off Intellisense in the Expression window?

In Reporting Services, when we type a dot behind alphabets or square brackets in Expression dialog box, it automatically pops up a list begin with “Equals”. This is by design.
To work around this issue, we can directly write T-SQL query commands in Query pane or Query Designer pane of Dataset Properties dialog box. In this way, it wouldn’t pops up any character for auto IntelliSense.

Issue while uploading the PAR file thru system admin- AdministrationConsole

Hi All,
I have downloaded the PAR file "com.sap.portal.navigation.lightdetailednavigationtree.par.bak" from system admin->support->Portal Runtime ->browse deployment->Web-Inf->deployment->PCD.
after downloaded to the desktop for manual change in one of the JSP file rather than importing into NWDS. I have removed the bak from the file and added the .Zip to the file and i extracted the file.
here inside i got the three folders i.e WEB-INF,PORTAL-INF and file_list. now i went to jsp file called "LightDetailedNavigationTree.JSP" , changed one small property value in the code from false to true. after that i again zip the folders strcuture make the file name as original in the form of .PAR file. now i am trying to upload it in the portal thru system admin->portal runtime->administration console, but i am getting the deployment error as mentioned in the below.
even though with error, the wrong version of the par file with extension .err was saved in the PCD folder strcture, and original file also still exists. now i wanted to remove the wrong version of the file from PCD, what is the procedure to delete the wrong version, here in administration console i found one button clean , but i could not able to locate the wrong file version , only original right version showing up in the clean dropdown??
Can u tell me what is the procedure to edit the PAR file manually after downloaded to the desktop, rather than going edit thru NWDS??
if we need to upload the PAR file after changes, do we need to delete the original PAR file before we upload the new version of the same PAR or it will be automatically overwrite the original file with the same name??
Still i am getting confusion, please let me know how to edit the PAR file manally and how to upload the PAR file with out any isse while uploading it in the portal thru system admin->administration console??

I have one more dought here.
the PAR file of lightdetailnavigation has been modified thru NWDS and deployed the PAR file by adding the required JARS.
Now my question is, the application server which i am used as local portal server installed in my desktop.
now this depoyed latest par file i have picked it from the workspace in the local desktop, and i am planning to upload the same PAR file in of the sandbox portal system of client , will it update successfully in the new portal apart from the deployed portal??
i am here used the path system admin->support->portal runtime -> administrate console ( this in the sand box system to upload the par file which was deployed in the local portal server in my desktop.

Error while editing PO - deleting service line item and creating material line item.

In SAP SRM Extended classic scenario, PO is in 'ordered' status and contains a service line item. While editing this PO, I delete the service line item and create a new material line item. This gives me the following error.
Back end error: Enter G/L account
Back end error: LIne item still contains faulty items.
This happens only with service- material comibination and no other combination(material-service, service-service, material-material).
I need to know the reason for this issue and how it can be solved?

PO Values (Inc Tax):
Item 1: INR 228 L
Item 2: INR 27.83 L   (Payment also done in 2008)
GR for Item 1: INR 207.46 L
Remaining Comm = INR 21.01 L
Item 1 having 73 sub line items.... fo some of the sub-line items GR for some qty already done in last fiscals.
User changing for remaining qty.
Budget Report values:
Previous Years: Budget, Actual & Assigned = 304.85 L
                            Available = 0      (Carry Forward done for Budget & Commitments)
2011:                   Budget = 75.15 L
                            Actual = 53.86 L
                            Comm = 21.01 L   (Same as Remaining Commitment)
                            Avai = 0.28 L

Error while Editing Item - After importing pagegroup

We have Oracle Application server 10g (10.1.2) with Oracle Portal 10.1.2.0.0. as a test environment in win 2000 server.
We installed a new Oracle Application server 10g (10.1.2) (production) with 10.1.2.0.2 in Suse Linux Enterprise server 9. every thing was fine.
We have migrated one simple page group from source(win) to a new Portal in Linux ( by following the steps of Portal export / import Doc.). This is by exporting transport set, dmp file in source side and importing dmp file and transport set on the target. The import was successful. I checked the Navigator and found the imported page Group. Also all the sub pages and items have been found with proper regions.
But when i'm trying to edit any item,region or adding region,item, it shows the following error. -----------------------
ERROR :General invalidation message processing exception: User-Defined Exception (WWC-40018)
General invalidation message processing exception: Error invalidating content, Non-200 status code returned by Web Cache. Status: 407 Proxy Authentication Required ( The ISA Server requires authorization to fulfill the request. Access to the Web Proxy service is denied. ) (WWC-40018)
Note:Please kindly note that our repository and portal midtier on same machine. So there is no firewall between portal and repository. Also there is no proxy settings given in Portal. Moreover, I reinitialized the webcache invalidator password in both web cache admin and Portal. Nothing is working.
Please kindly help me in this regard urgently. and provide me the solution along with the navigation details.
