FCPUG in Minnesota

Anyone know if there is an FCPUG in MSP?
I tried the one listed on Apple's FCP Resources site but the link goes to a production company and the e-mail link gets returned when I send one.

OH ya Check out http://www.mnfcpug.org/ (never mind
just check it, it used to be the Minnesota FCP UG but
now . . . .)
That's the link from Apple's site. I've found nothing there except the production/rental company. Nothing related to FCP. I could be wrong but it seems like they're squatting on the URL. Perhaps someone from there will correct me.
As far as MyPie goes. Man I loved that pizza! I remember the frosted glasses. Sadly I think they closed shop years ago. At least the location they were at is now something else. Gotta look them up though. Mmmmm, pizza.

Phone Hire, but work is on-site.  Please don't inquire if you cannot relocate or are not authorized to work in the US.  They won't be interested.  (Really!)
The best candidates are those who have done whole test developments, including custom schematic design, instrument selection, specification writing and software.  They are interested in candidates who are "pretty darn good" at TestStand and LabVIEW but not those who only have those software skills.  CAN experience a plus.
Please send me resumes and (if you want) cover letters to mbradley at brad-tech.com with the subject Winona LabVIEW.  Don't bother if it's after May 10th.
Also, I'm just forwarding resumes etc to a recruiter and trying to help out people here.  So don't bother sending me a cover letter or asking me lots of questions because I have no idea.  If the recruiter likes you, he'll contact you, not me.
    Thanks and good luck.

  • Calling minnesota from california

I have the freedom essentials plan and I live in California. i'd like to know if i can call minnesota without being charged.

    From the previously posted link...
    Tutorial - Perl and Java
    SYNOPSIS
Java and Perl have different strengths and complement each other well.
You can connect them at runtime with tools such as JPL, PJC, or ActiveX. In
theory, you can convert Perl to Java bytecode, and vice-versa.
    Note:
    Not actually a conversion.
At this stage, we are generating Java opcodes by walking Perl's syntax tree.
This is very different from converting Perl to Java. It's a lot easier!Java source with embedded perl, or perl with embedded java, depending on your perspective. Cool!!! Double way cool with cherries on top.
I honestly had no idea that such a thing existed. Thank you.
Edited by: corlettk on Feb 12, 2008 1:20 PM
Note: At the time this presentation was prepared, JPL did not work with Perl for Win32. However, JPL is in the core Perl distribution, and there are plans to make it work with Perl for Win32. With that in mind, I'm presenting the JPL material first, because it is of interest to both Win32 and Unix Perl people. The Win32-specific stuff (alternatives to JPL) will come last. I won't be offended if the Unix people leave when I get to this section ...
A subset of JPL now works on Win32. You can embed Java in Perl, but you cannot embed Perl in Java (yet).

  • How do I charge sales tax on shipping ONLY for Minnesota addresses?

My items are properly set up so that customers with Minnesota bill-to and/or ship-to addresses are charged MN state sales tax on the items the purchase.  But according to Minnesota law, they should ALSO be charged MN sales tax on the shipping costs.  How do I adjust my shipping profiles so that shipping is taxed ONLY for Minnesota bill-to and/or ship-to addresses?

can anyone help with this?  thank you.

  • Tim Dashwood's presentation at FCPUG SuperMeet 2010

Tim Dashwood had a nice introductory presentation at FCPUG SuperMeet, during the NAB 2010. It dealt with low cost entry into the 3D stereoscopy, and his time was cut to only 15 minutes, but it was very efficiently presented, so lot of good information was transferred. A short video taken there can be seen here: http://www.vimeo.com/11013528 or here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NBfnI0h3Js . Thank you Tim for this and the cool Stereo3D Toolbox plug-in.

  • LTE is extremely slow in Minnesota

I have had an iPhone 5 for about 3 weeks now, yesterday I noticed that the data connection was extremely slow when on the Verizon LTE network, I called customer service who stated they were unaware of any troubles in my area so we went through all sorts of resets, resetting network connections, firmware restore, the whole bit, nothing remedied the problem so they agreed to ship me a replacement phone. The phone has yet to arrive, but in speaking with my wife she is having the identical issue with her iPhone 5, this led me to begin thinking that the problem with in the network, not the device so I spoke to 3 other people who have LTE capable phones from verizon (different Android phones, 3 different models) and they all stated they were having the same issue. I find it difficult to believe that VZW hasn't identified the issue yet and fixed it, how can I get a trouble case raised to look at this? Everyone I have talked to that has VZW LTE is having the same issue, so I don't think that you would have troubles duplicating it but I would be willing to help test this out, from the forums I noticed people complaining about a similar issue back in late september down in the southern part of the US. Any help would be greatly appreciated, but I really would like to see a response from VZW customer care telling me a ticket has been opened to look into this, the LTE data was just fine until yesterday, no my speed tests won't even crack 1mbps sometimes

Easy if other people in the aera would call in to report verizon mite know about the problem ? I know how you feel it's a pain get something fixed lol.

  • Minnesota Blast Speed Increase

Now that the CC/TW merger is not going to happen and in turn, our systems not being sold to that other company, can we expect sooner than later to be bumped up to the 102MB speed other large cities have already gotten?

I live in Maple Grove, MN and was told by several Comcast/Xfinity over the phone that I should be getting the double speed from 50Mbps to 105Mbps. I am using my own modem which is a Motorola SB6183 and I have the ASUS RT-AC68U router.  I am only getting around 47Mbps speed. So looks like I am not getting the speed they say I should be getting.  Any suggestions as I am getting tired of people saying I using what they call "End Of Life Equipment" and them just saying let me "reprovision" you modem.

  • Is it still snowing in minnesota

    has cougar escaped its bondage
does birch tree have spring leaves
    is pig snorting happily away
    we may never know
    tttastcb

cougar is happy and haven't had to use magic battery booster thing in about a month ... when it's above zero degrees the cougar starts okay without it.
PIG is happy and says, " OINK ! "  ( wagging curly tail )
Pig has been going through some tests re: using PPro and SG and various drives for round trips ( using dpx " send to SG" ).  So far so good... basically the vivaldi winter thing has been a workflow test of sorts...
So far it is this that works best....
    1) put everything on timeline as it is put into pig from ninja SSD ( using renamer program to batch name files as per date of ingestion etc. ...file naming conventions to keep track of whats what ).
    2) scrub through stuff on timeline quickly to get general idea what I got
    3) go through each file using source monitor by double clicking project manager files ( clips )
    4) throw out total junk ( delete from project manager, timeline, and hard drive )
    5) butt everthing in timeline together after getting rid of junk.
    6) send to SG ( make dpx files )
    7) do initial cc with SG and export same as original source stuff ( in my case avid codec in mov wrapper ) to appropriate drive.
    8) move stuff from export drive to source drive ( keep the stuff organized re: where source stuff is and where export stuff goes )
    9)  put new SG stuff on timeline above original stuff
    10) scrub using timeline now.. no more source monitor
    11) begin edit .....
now it gets nuts... cause at some point I am still unhappy with original cc and have to send back to SG again... oh well, thats life.
keep editing..and move good stuff up a level that will go to roughcut sequence.. cutting out bad parts.. I don't use anything that can later be expanded ...
at this point ( roughcut ) I may start adding some dissolves etc... but probably will have to delete them for yet ANOTHER trip to SG for basic cc....
maybe nest stuff for overall PPro levels and other adustments...
post grading not done yet ... wont be done till entire project is done ( winter spring summer fall )... for this test project.
learning what I can meanwhile with some more tutorials and stuff ( like how to use yc waveform better, stuff like that.. and also testing iso to imgBurn from encore to make DVD and BD to test color spaces and products ( played on computer and TV to compare results ).
Lots of stuff going on but being an idiot it is progressing slowly and ultimately ( without calibrated monitors and test signals and so on.. half of what I'm doing is just to get used to using the programs and won't really lead to final products except for low ball sharing ).
    =======
OB.. hiya !   Am still using the cool mixing stick thing to mush up food for eating with loose teeth... works great !  I think the teeth might be re attaching themselves to my jaw.. hard to tell cause I don't wanna put pressure on them to test them ... but I am not having bad dreams about them anymore and am living on canned ravioli, refried beans, chili that is mushed with magic mixing thing, and pea soup.. etc... today I ate some chicken too !  And yesterday I made a roast beef and sliced it really THIN.. and ate half of that roast !  YUM !
HAIL CITIZEN !  I have not been able to read any more decline and fall of roman empire for the past 2 weeks... due to depressing heads flying out palace window... I think I'll get back into it once my own personal life is not so stressful ...you know, where I can sorta laugh at heads flying out windows again.

  • Minnesota state tax forms do not have scroll arrows or bar.

I have no problem with the tax site for Federal forms using Firefox. I have no problem with the state tax site if I use Internet Explorer.

'''''"There is no difference in the two images in your reply, they both have arrows and scroll bar that works."'''''
There definitely are differences in the 2 images. I have attached an image below (the one on the left below) with the differences highlighed. The greyed-out top arrow, no bottom arrow, and no "slider" in the portion on the left (scroll bar portion of the first image in my previous post) make the scroll bar un-usable. The portion on the right (scroll bar portion of the second image in my previous post) shows non-greyed arrows at the top and the bottom and a "slider" so that the scroll bar is usable.
'''''"How do you access IE + Tab after I have installed your recommended attachment in your previous answer? Can find no info on Tab Bar or anything helpful."'''''
IE Tab Plus is really a very simple extension. It has one function: open a tab in Firefox and use the Internet Explorer rendering engine to display a web page within Firefox. For that reason, you MUST keep IE updated and use the current version for your own protection and security.
I have attached a second image (the one on the right below) showing:
#A copy of the icon in View > Toolbars > Customize that you can drag to your toolbar (after setting the options)
#An image of the Status Bar icon, the drop-down instructions that will show when resting the cursor on the Status Bar icon, and the pop-up that will show when right-clicking the Status Bar icon
#Images of the settings that I use for each of the four tabs in the IE Tab Plus options window (Tools > Add-ons, click on IE Tab Plus, click Options).
    Hope this helps you.

  • Why is my HTML email showing up wrong in different email account?

I've seen this before and I think it has to do with CSS (which I realize isn't supposed to be in emails), but I'm super new to this and have scoured the internet to find out exactly what I'm doing wrong and how to fix it. It shows up properly in my Yahoo acccount, but not in my Gmail accounts (which initially threw it in Spam, if that has anything to do with it). I only know the very basics of HTML and CSS, but still have get this work done and I'm assuming someone will be able to view the code and see what my issue is pretty quick - I hope! It previews in browsers just fine, it's only when I'm click "Forward to a Friend" to send it to myself to test.
See the HTML and screencaps of the difference in view below...

So, is it CSS causing this? Are the Tables setup incorrectly? Something not Inline? Not enough info for you? Gmail HATES ME?!
I'm just not seeing it and need to put the question out there while I continue to search for an anwer. Please respond!
    Thanks!

Many mail clients reject images, JavaScript and embedded CSS styles.  For best results use plain text near the top to communicate your message and give a link to the actual web page on your server.
For mail clients that do have limited support for HTML, use uncomplicated tables and inline CSS rules (inside the body tag).
All that meta data description is a red flag to spam filters.  You shouldn't be using meta description or keywords in e-mails.

  • Spry Accordion doesn't work properly

I uploaded the site the other night and it worked out just fine. I made a change in some spacing between two words and added a letter to a word. Then all of the sudden it did not work on my next upload. The link to the page is http://www.tc.umn.edu/~aias/about.html#. I appreciate the time you put into solving this in advance!

  • NetAuthAgent & nmbd suddenly active after using University wifi?

    Hello -
I'm trying to ascertain if I am at risk...
About 1 week ago I connected to the University of Minnesota's "guest" wifi network.  I was asked to provide an email address and that's all.  I was online.
But I use Little Snitch so granted access to a flurry of temporary connections to when they popped up as I was in a rush to connect.  Possibly a bad move, but I was guided through this process by a U of MN tech guy so I felt ok about it.  It worked for the weekend and that was that.  I didn't use my email or login to any websites, I just pulled up a YouTube video for a group's presentation.
All seemed well...  But, when I got home, I received 2 Little Snitch notifications: NetAuthAgent and nmbd.  I don't know if any of this is normal but NetAuthAgent showed up as ~myusername but nmbd showed up as root.
Also, my hard drive space also went down to zero on a random instance when Safari froze up, but I don't have a screen grab of that.
Also, in my Finder, there was a "PC Server" device listed under Shared.  This was new.  This freaked me out.
Not only have I been unable to stop NetAuthAgent and nmbd from prompting me for access every single time I start my computer, the times I have experimented/troubleshot the issue and give them permission, I'm getting the PC Server listed under Shared.
I've run MacScan and I can block it out by denying it access via Little Snitch, but I wanted to ask the digital Jedi out there if this was normal, because when I try to click "Connect To", it give me the following error...
I've seen NetAuthAgent & nmbd before, but not like this.
In summary, these instances started happening constantly after I used the University's network and has not gone away.
Thanks in advance for your time,
    - AmpLife
    P.S. I'm running the latest software on a MBP, 17" (Mid '09)

twtwtw, dude, youre good...  THANK YOU... i think we got it.
actually i didn't have to delete any proxy settings, i left those alone and deleted the wifi network i used at the university:
Sys Prefs > Network > Advanced > Airport > Preferred Networks
once i located the name of the potentially problematic wifi network (U of M Guest) that you said i might be connecting to under preferred networks, i clicked the " - " (minus symbol) to remove it.  after that I clicked "OK" and it went back to Network (sys pref) where i clicked "Apply".
finally, I quit everything and restarted my mac.  when it came back on, the requests for nmbd were gone and nothing i do can recreate the NetAuthAgent alert.
i'm also not seeing anything under shared that shouldn't be there!
    sweeet...
i'm going to sleep on it and give it 48 hours...  i'm sure it'll be fine, but when i verify it's gone, i'll come back and hit you with some Correct Answer points.  i wouldn't have thought to delete the preferred networks without you guiding me to the Sharing AND Network pref panes.
    peace!
PS: here is screen grab of the PASV thing (and the proxy settings i mentioned above) for your reference

  • Please Help! Ready to throw my iPhone out the window!

First time posting on the forums but it's gotten to the point where my phone isn't even usable and I either need some answers or a good excuse to smash it.
    So here's the story:
I got my iPhone 3G (black, 16GB) in September (I think), last year. The phone operated fine with only minor annoyances as software updates came down to fix issues, no big deal. About 10 months in, the phone starts acting up:
If you want clarification on some problem, ask. I don’t want to type out 8 paragraphs if I don’t have to, should be pretty self-explanatory.
    Before OS 3:
1.) Can’t slide to answer calls. After ringing stops phone behaves normally.
2.) Doesn’t charge from wall or computer (happened randomly). Plug phone in, it says it’s charging but never charges.
3.) Can’t end calls / call doesn’t end when other line is hung up (thanks for wasting my minutes).
(these problems persist even with hard resets and full restores, including setting the phone up as a new phone rather than restoring from a backup)
After OS 3 AND full restore:
1.) Can’t slide to answer calls. After ringing stops phone behaves normally.
2.) Can’t end calls / call doesn’t end when other line is hung up (thanks for wasting my minutes).
(same as above, problems persist with hard resets and the like)
At any rate, I was home one weekend and figured I’d take the phone to the Genius bar at the Mayfair Mall Apple Store. Sounded like a good plan until I get to the mall and find the store is being renovated (seriously Apple, you can’t just put that on your site that a store is closed for some reason? Give me a break). Home is 3 hours away for me and the closest Apple store is 2.5 hours away. Awesome.
I deal with the problems for another month or so until my girlfriend and I take a trip to visit her friend in Minnesota. While there we go to the Mall of America so I decide to go to the Apple Store there (which is flappin’ giant, by the way). I explain my problems to the ‘Genius’ as well as informing him of the numerous restores/resets I’ve done both before and after the 3.0 update. He checks the phone for water damage and concludes that the headphone/dock ports are dusty which is causing the charging problem. I proceed to tell him I’ve cleaned them with compressed air before and the problems continued but he’s the ‘Genius’ so I let him do his thing and clean them again. Afterwards, he concludes (via the iPhone diagnostic software they have) that since I haven’t done a restore in about a month that I should do another one as that will likely remedy the problem. Right. Was he even listening when I explained that the problems happened before and after the 3.0 update or that I had on numerous occasions attempted to remedy the problem with hard resets and restores? Nope. My girlfriend over hears this (she is aware of the problems I was having and is a Apple-certified hardware technician at our local Mac store) and comes over to reiterate (albeit slightly more forcefully than I had initially) that the problems occur regardless of restore state or software version. The ‘Genius’ finally decides he can replace the phone after explaining to him that we are not anywhere near an Apple store and that there’s little time left in the warranty. I get my new phone set up and ready to go. Whew.
Everything is great. Phone works, no issues. Until ~2 months ago, new issues start cropping up.
OS 3.1+ (happen on all versions):
1.) Can’t sync, get “unable to complete. Phone was disconnected.” Error. (I checked around the forums and tried a few things but was unable to resolve the issue, including trying to remove the files that it kept ‘disconnecting’ on when it got to, no effect)
2.) Installing an application (be it via App Store on the phone or via sync with my desktop) results in the phone being unable to boot if turned off. When attempting to turn it back on, Apple logo shows then phone goes off after a few seconds. Only way to resolve this is by booting the phone directly to restore mode and doing a full restore.
3.) Earlier this week, my phone wouldn’t boot after having no apps (0, zero, zip, nada) on it after restoring it a few weeks back. Apple logo showed up then the spinning loading animation overlaid on the logo only to freeze. Attempted booting again and it came on (whew).
4.) Today, my phone wouldn’t boot at all, again, no apps are on or have been on the phone since I last restored it. Tried turning it off/on a few times, no good. I ended up restoring the phone again.
At first, my girlfriend was convinced that it was because I was synching with my desktop PC (obviously, blame it on the PC first), which I’ve been using since I got the phone and everything was fine until both phones randomly decided to crap out. I ended up restoring it on my MacBook Pro as a new phone just to see but the same thing happens with the apps causing it to not boot. After that we thought that it might be a single (or a few) apps that were just taking the phone down for some reason. I restored the phone with no apps and it seemed to be ok so I put 3 apps that I’ve had pretty much since they were available (and used to work without issue) back on to see. The plan was to add a few apps until the phone stopped working properly to narrow down the offending app. Just kidding! Just having those 3 apps (Beejive IM, Facebook, iDracula) causes the phone to not boot. I restore and try just Facebook. Same thing, phone doesn’t boot. Restore, try just Beejive. Same thing, phone won’t boot. By the way, the phone doesn’t boot even without me having LAUNCHED THE APPS AT ALL. Just by being on my phone it’s totally hosed.
At this point I have no idea what to do. I want to like my iPhone again but it’s terribly worthless when I have to restore it every other day and can’t use my ~$90 worth of apps (PS: even Apple’s own ‘Remote’ app brings the phone down). I really, really hate to say it but my old HTC Hermes (Windows Mobile 5/6) PDA phone was better than this (and WinMo is god-awful).
Does anyone have any suggestions? My phone is out of warranty now and I don’t have money to buy another phone even if I wanted to.
Also, I treat my phone like a baby. It hasn't been dropped a single time, been near water, or operated outside of the safe operating temp guidlines.
I'm willing to elaborate on any of the information I provided above, just let me know.

After the restore did the phone work properly for a while? Say, a day or so?
If so it is possible you have an app that doesn't let go of memory properly. I reboot my iPhone ( hold sleep/wake and hole till you see the apple logo) every few days. This resets the memory. The iPhone OS has doesn't seem to mange memory very well yet. So a reboot will help with that. I have had my phone almost slow to a stop before I started rebooting. Always reboot after installing a new app. Also do you close all pages in Safari when you are done? This is a good practice. Safari will run in the background and use processor time and drain your battery quicker. Create a new blank page then close all others when you are done browsing for a while. I have also found that certain web site that have animated images like weather maps will turn the phone into molasses. As soon as i close that page it gets faster.
If all of the above have no effect then as Tamara said it is time for a trip to the Genius bar.
    Good luck
