FCPX 10.0.6 Sharing Destination

Is there a way to add MPEG Streamclip to the list of destination choices?

See the user manual pages on this subject, linked below.  It has nothing to do with any app being scriptable or anything like that.  It also has nothing to do with specific locations on your hard drives.
1- Choose Share, choose Master File
2- In the Settings tab set the "Open With" menu to "Other".
3- This opens a Finder window for your Applications folder.  Select MPEG Streamclip, click OK.
4- Click "Next", select a location on your drive to save the ProRes file to.
5- When the export is over, that exported ProRes file will then be opened directly into MPEG Streamclip (or whatever application you chose to open the slip in to).
This works really great, has nothing to do with an app being scriptable.
Here is how to create a Custom Destination.

  • Set InDesign -- by default -- not to make hyperlinks Shared Destinations?

I have a newsletter template in ID CS4 based on a template with some standing hyperlinks to my organization's web pages.
Recently, when I created a new file based on the template, my computer started bogging down looking NOT for the web page in the hyperlink, but in the copy of the InDesign file that created it. Checked the properties in Hyperlink Options, and instead of URL, the links went to a Shared Destination (a copy of the document on a shared drive, not an Internet server).  Changed the properties to link them to URLs instead, but when I opened the document again, they went back to Shared Destinations. How can I set InDesign -- by default -- not to hook hyperlinks up to Shared Destinations?  (My agency was ready to upgrade me to CS6 until it became available in the Cloud only).
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/indesign/cs/using/WSB152EA6F-30D9-417c-9E16-A2C492C04892.html
Note: If a URL hyperlink isn’t working in the exported PDF, there may be a problem with the hyperlink being a “Shared Destination.” Double-click the hyperlink in the Hyperlinks panel, choose URL from the Link To menu, deselect Shared Hyperlink Destination, and click OK
But I wan to make NOT sharing hyperlinks the default

Given the bug with shared hyperlinks (see https://forums.adobe.com/message/6408902#6408902), I too would like to turn off shared hyperlink destination as the default. Anyone found a way to do this?

  • Editing the list of shared destinations

When I first started creating hyperlinks in InDesign, I mistakenly marked some as shared destinations. I regularly use a few URLs as shared destinations, but now I have a lot of redundant ones clogging up the list.
How can I edit InDesign's list of (previously used) shared destinations? Does ID store an editable file in user/library or something similar? Or might it involve scripting (about which I know nothing)?

  • Applescript hyperlink URL, not shared destination

    Hi everyone,
i'm trying to write an applescript that will apply a hyperlink to some selected text (a product number). Where I am running into trouble is that the hyperlinks cannot be "shared destination".
After poaching what I could from some other scripts, I have this:
    tell application "Adobe InDesign CS5"
        tell document 1
            set mySelection to selection
set prodNo to contents of mySelection as string
set prodNoURL to "http://www.webaddress.com/address/" & prodNo as string
            try
                set TheH to make hyperlink URL destination with properties {name:prodNo, destination URL:prodNoURL}
            on error
set TheH to hyperlink URL destination prodNo
            end try
            set TheHS to make hyperlink text source with properties {source text:(item 1 of mySelection), hidden:false}
            set myHyperlink to make new hyperlink with properties {destination:TheH, source:TheHS, visible:false}
        end tell
    end tell
    end
This works, except that the resulting hyperlinks are linking to Shared Destination, which they cannot do (I don't know why, actually; my little script is just one step in a bigger process.)
How do I create a hyperlink that will link to URL, with the "Shared Destination" checkbox OFF:
    Thanks for your help!
    (Mac OS 10.7, ID CS5)

    Hi,
If someone else has the same issue:
Set the "hidden" property of a hyperlinkURLDestination to TRUE when creating a new  hyperlinkURLDestination. This can only be done when the object is created and can't be modified later ...
    var myCurrentHyperlinkURLDestination = myDoc.hyperlinkURLDestinations.add(myCurrentHyperlink, {hidden:true});

  • Shared Destination

I am just about to create a catalogue, including hundreds of links and I've been trying to figure out what the 'shared destination' box is about in the hyperlink window but couldn't find a proper description just a couple of rather scary comments in the help section on the Adobe website.
I just wonder if anyone here can explain it, I don't want to link 739 links then realise I should have done it differently...thanks!

The "shared destination" is very benign. It simply means that the destination will be saved in the drop down menu so you can apply it to another link. If in fact your destination is a one time occurrence there is not need to make it a shared destination.

  • Cannot login to YouTube via FCPX 10.0.6 Sharing tool

I've tried this countless times and even after the sharing revamp contained in FCPX 10.0.6 I still cannot get it to login to my YouTube account which I now log into using my Google Account details.
Does FCPX require something more arcane such as my original Yahoo login?  If so I'm not sure I can even locate this any more.
    In appreciative anticipation...

  • Shared Hyperlink Destinations Unpleasantness

    Where I work, we've upgraded from CS1 to CS6.
We've created many newsletters in InDesign (40+ pages each; 1 per month) that have hyperlinks.
Working with the Hyperlinks and Hyperlink Destinations, while rather cumbersome before, was manageable.
However, in CS6 an aspect of it makes them unworkable.
First off, we're working in a new newsletter that has essentially been opened and converted from a previous month's CS1 version to the new CS6. It carries forward all the previous hyperlinks, naturally. However, InDesign treats all of these as "shared" hyperlinks.
So, when I have to troubleshoot a link, I can straight up delete the link and create a new, unshared URL-type link.
No real problem, except having to write down where the link goes and retype it into the new link creation dialog, since I can't select the original and copy & paste it.
However, if I accidentally forget to avoid opening Hyperlink Destinations like the plague, then all the Destinations created previously in CS1 will be accessed in order to open that pallet. Since all "shared" Destinations are stored in whatever original document they were made in apparently, that means InDesign will open and convert effectively every single CS1 INDD that still shares a link in common or that still has a Destination listed in the palette ... or something.
This process takes about 1 hour (or more) and effectively hangs InDesign for me. I can not cancel the process (that I've found yet); I can not close the palette before it's refreshed and processed every single Destination; I have to manually hit Esc or click cancel on every single Destination as it tries opening it if I wish to try short-circuiting the process (which means I'll still have to sit there for at least half an hour, since there's so much time between each dialog that pops up).
I'm not the one who generally works in the file doing all the design work; I'm the one who does the processing for creating the PDF for the web. I'm willing to understand and work with InDesign to a fuller extent of its capabilities, but the actual designers are generally as ignorant as they can get away with about InDesign's tools and innards.
They're the ones that work with and create the links (until there's a problem, then it's me); and getting them to clean up their methods or to at least only create "unshared" hyperlinks going forward is pretty much impossible.
If somebody doesn't know a way to get around this problem, then I have a request that an update to InDesign is implemented to accomplish any of several things:
    • All "old" Hyperlink Destinations are not created as shared ones, thereby avoiding InDesign's desire to open and convert all the old INDD files.
    • All shared Destinations are stored elsewhere, not in their original INDD (or whatever is going on with them right now).
    • Implement a method to short-circuit this update process (like hitting Esc exits the opening of the Hyperlink Destinations palette, or prevents the action if I masochistically try selecting and editing a Hyperlink Destination once it opens, etc).
Thank you, especially if there's any help getting around the problem short of me deleting all Hyperlink Destinations (once I get the palette open and sitting still again) to force the designers to start over.

    > I'm trying to create links from a webpage to specific spots in a pdf.
This makes it sound like you need links from a webpage to a PDF.
    > I can get it to work perfectly if I create the hyperlink destinations
    > in the pdf, using the Acrobat software.
But this makes it sound like you need links from a PDF to a webpage.
    > When I try it, though, I can't get the
    > webpage link to go to the destination, only to the top of the pdf.
And this makes it sound like you're linking from webpage to PDF.
    Which one are you doing?
    1) If you want a link from a webpage to a PDF, the link must be in the
    webpage.
    2) If you want a link from a PDF to a webpage, the link must be in the PDF.
I can help you with #2. I could probably help you with #1 too, but I
don't think I would use Indesign.

  • What exactly is a shared hyperlink destination?

Well, nothing in the documentation explains what a "shared hyperlink destination" actually is.  The very name itself ("shared hyperlink destination") implies that you've got two separate links in your document both pointing to, say, adobe.com (the destination).  Those two links 'share' the same destination (= adobe.com).
But, Sandee says a "Shared Destination":
"creates a link to a previously defined hyperlink"
i.e. it creates a link to a link?
    Did she mean to say:
"creates a link to a previously defined hyperlink source"?  or
"creates a link to a previously defined hyperlink destination"?

    Never did. Asked again

  • Need help with shared hyperlinks

I need help understanding the shared hyperlink option when creating hyperlinks in InDesign CS5 (Mac) and how to change a shared hyperlink destination.
I want to build a document that contains hyperlinks to files on the client’s server. The end use is to make a PDF in which the client can click on a hyperlink and it opens (for example) a Word document or another PDF on their server. When I started the project, I thought I would create shared hyperlinks because a single server document would be referred to by several links scattered through the InDesign document I was building.
From the Hyperlink palette fly-out menu I chose New Hyperlink, then Link To: File from the dropdown, and I clicked the Shared Hyperlink option, and then OK to close the window. I export the InDesign file as a print PDF, and the hyperlinks work.
Now I need to change the file paths, because the client moved their files to a new location. When I re-open the hyperlink in the Hyperlink palette by double clicking on it, the Edit Hyperlink window opens but it shows my link as:
Link To: Shared Destination (rather than File)
And the destination box underneath shows:
    Document: [my document name]
Name [the file path I put in]
However, this link is not editable. I don’t understand why InDesign does this on its own.
I realize now that it was not necessary to tick the shared option when I built the hyperlink. Is there a way (a script? another method?) that I can remove the shared nature of the hyperlinks so that when I go to edit them they show as links to files (Link to: File, not Link to: Shared Destination) with a live Destination Path box where I can edit the link?
(If anyone tries to help with a script, note that my document also contains other hyperlinks to internet URLs and emails that I don’t want to disturb.)
    Thanks for your consideration.

Well. I do feel sort of bait-and-switched, but...
I want to get the links back to the point where double clicking on the hyperlink name (number) in the Hyperlink palette opens an Edit Hyperlink dialog where the destination is Link to: File and the file path shows up in the File Path box as an editable string. Just the way I made them in the first place.
It's good that you're comfortable editing the IDML.
If you compare links made both ways in the IDML, the only distinction between the Shared and the not Shared seems to be the hidden attribute of the <HyperlinkURLDestination/> tag.
Allegedly you cannot edit this in Javascript (though you could, I suppose, create a new HyperlinkURLDestination with all the same properties and then chang eeach hyperlink to point to it).
But editing it in the IDML works fine. Open designmap.xml and change the Hidden="false" to Hidden="true". Of course, you only want to do that in the <HyerplinkURLDestination/> tags...
Something about this seems fishy to me, so you might want to verify it yourself in a single case before you put too much effort in. But I think it's right.

  • InDesign: Updating Shared Hyperlinks

What is the best approach to take for updating shared hyperlink URLs?
For example, if a document has many pages and there are various hyperlink lists within those pages, there are likely to be some shared URL destinations. If we need to update the URL to a specific destination - How do we make certain that all the shared destinations update? Or does each hyperlink have to be found and changed separately?

    I got my answer thanks.

  • Vimeo sharing issue

months ago, i created an imovie project, and shared it to my vimeo account.... everything is perfect...
i then decided to create a second video, with the same footage but in a different language.
i went to the finder and duplicated the imovie project, and opened it in imovie...
i get a 'Shared to Vimeo' at the top of the movie as expected (since the original was shared on vimeo).
i did all my edits and now i would like to share the second video to vimeo under a fresh video/project.
when clicking on the vimeo button: imovie gives me the following options:
         1. Publish to vimeo... In which case the original movie will be replaced with the second! NOT what I want
         2. Remove from vimeo... In which case imovie instructs me to got to vimeo and delete the movie! NOT what I want
this seems like a weird bug! I would like to simple UNSHARE this video...
    my thinking was:
         1. stop sharing the video > disconnecting it from any destination
         2. share the video
         3. enter new details, and hence creating a new video on vimeo
the issue is that there is no way in imovie to stop sharing a movie without deleting it from the shared destination!
    am i missing somthing here?
does apple expect me to redo the entire project again, just to create a variation on the original!
any suggestions? am i missing anyting?
    (using imovie'11 on 10.8.2)

that is certainly one option, but:
         1. it will always be linked to the original video inside imovie! i will need to keep a mental note to never click publish, otherwise the original will be updated and i end up with two similar videos on vimeo... why would i need to remember this forever!
         2. i am OK with this option if i can uncheck the share option... upload via export to desktop is fine... would have solved all my issues if i had done it this way for the original video... i had too much trust in apple i guess...
and imovie did allow me to export to the finder without limitations...

  • How to export a movie from Final Cut Pro X?

    Hi There,
I've been away from FCP for a while using Premier but I have an FCPX project that I need to export a preview from.
I've tried "Sharing" a YouTube movie but it wants an account so I tried using "Apple Devices 1080p". But I get no dialogue to save it and no feedback that anything is happening - nor do I know where FCPX actually saved it (assuming it exported it).
I also tried adding a new sharing destination but none of the destination options make sense - rather I didn't see anything I wanted to share to (DVD, BluRay etc).
I'm currently downloading the PDF manual but this seems like such a basic thing to want to do that I'm pretty sure I'm missing something simple - so thought I'd post here.
Put simply, how do I export a preview file to my desktop?

Or just export an H.264, which PC's can play back just fine, especially via the web.  I've never had issues with my clients.
    http://www.macprovideo.com/hub/final-cut/preparing-video-web-quicktime-compresso r
You can do H.264 direcly out of FCP X without going to compressor.  You'll need to purchase "Flip4Mac" to export WMV files, which I rarely have to use for my PC clients.  You can create a Bundle in your Share preferences to do it all in one operation, too.

  • TS4162 "invalid Account Name or Password" when I try to share to YouTube from Final Cut Pro

    Hello,
I keep getting "invalid Account Name or Password” when I try to share to YouTube from Final Cut Pro. I am signing in to my YouTube account from Safari and my password is working. In Final Cut Pro, I go to: Final Cut Pro > Preferences > Destinations > Add Destination > Double click YouTube. I create new sharing destination and the issue still not gone. Kindly please find me a solution.
Thank you for your kind attention.

Make sure you're using your email associated with your YouTube account in FCPX and not your YouTube Username as that's no longer allowed by Google.

  • FCP x (trial) , does not have a "share" button in the tool bar

    hi
did you get an answer to the question on how to export a file in the trial version of FCPX?  In my trial version there is no "share" button in the toolbar at the top of the screen.
When i select file -> share -> .... i get a "blank" destinations screen, giving me no options as to where to export to.
Can anyone help as this is my first project in FCPX and without exporting/sharing it is not worth purchasing the product.
BTW my file size is 13GB - could this have anything to do with my issue?

Yes, Share is in the File menu now (as well as to the far right of the tool bar).  If it is blank, something is wrong.  Try using the free application "Preference Manger" from Digital Rebellion to trash the FCPX pref files.  If that doesn't work, move the application from the Application folder to the Trash.  Then launch the App Store, in the Purchases section, click "Install" to the right of Final Cut Pro X (it will not effect your Projects and Events at all, they stay safe).
File or project size shouldn't matter.  This is not a very common issue, but in the rare instances it does show up, one of the two solutions above will fix it.

  • Can I create a custom output settings from Compressor 4 and use it as a export setting in iMovie 10.0.4?

I'm currently using iMovie 8.0.6 However I want to upgrade by downloading iMovie 10.0.4 but I'm upset that iMovie 10.0.4 doesn't give us "Export using Quicktime" option like iMove 9.0.6 and lower versions do (look at picture below)
So I wanted to know could I create a Compressor 4 output setting and use that as a exporting option in iMovie 10.0.4?

    Yes and No:
No, you can not - as in FCPX - create your own 'Share Destinations', iM lacks (officially) any APIs too teach it new tricks.
Yes, export from with iM in a high-res format (e.g. 1080 Apple devices), and use that as source for any Compressor output Same workflow, for free, would do Mpeg Streamclip, the most recommended converter tool for MacOs....
