FCPX 10.1 keeps losing libraries and I can't get them back!

Is anyone else having this problem?
I have been editing footage. All in a library stored on an external drive.
I stopped for the night last night, shut everything down properly. Today I power everything up and FCPX 10.1 only sees the libraries on the laptop HD. I've dismounted and remounted external drives, checked files directly through the browser, and tried to Update Projects and Events (which finds none to update) and I'm getting concerned...
any help greatly appreciated!

I looked around at some similar problems and solved the problem...kinda.
2 things: when I tried to Update Projects & Events > Locate, the message came back: "The current selection is not valid. Choose another SAN location or folder" came up as the message.
I could SEE the libraries there, but for whatever reason FCPX 10.1 didn't 'mount..for lack of a better word' the Libraries.
Then I went in and double-clicked a library with FCPX closed and, voila, it opened.
That's pretty weird. My external HDs are all 1.5 - 2G Seagate Barracudas...so I'm not sure what the problem could be.

Did you download them direct to your IPad or to your computer. If so unless you have synced your iPad with your computer since you downloaded they are still on your Ipad unless you deleted them or if they were rentals the time ran out.
To check on your iPad launch the iPod APP on your Ipad if a movie listing does not show then click on the iPad button under your library list column and it should then show your movies etc
Or launch the Video App and look for them there
if you have downloaded them on your computer they will show up in iTunes the cartoons i suspect will show under TV and the Movie under Movies.
A rented item expires 30 days after you rent it or 24 hours after you begin playing it, whichever comes first. Expired rentals are deleted automatically. After you transfer a rental to your iPad etc, it is removed from your iTunes library.
Outright puchases are obviously yours to keep.

I have purchased many apps. as well as ringtones. In the last day or so I have upgraded to io5, synced by phone with my pc and now found that most of my apps. are on computer and i can not get back to phone.

When I check the settings all the thumbnails have the site shown in the details so should be showing the site in the thumbnail, but they're just blank. I uninstalled Speed Dial and installed it again, but to no avail. Something is stopping the image appearing but don't know what. I paused blocking on Ghostery, but that makes no difference. If you have failed to make sure that any apps purchased on the iphone were transferred to your computer before updating, then you will have to redownload.
Open itunes store, click Purchased, under Quick Links.

If they were imported from CDs, and you had no other backup of them on your system or another drive, you'll need to reimport them from CDs again.
For music purchased from the iTunes, you can redownload each track at no cost via iCloud. See this article for more details.

My Canvas and Timeline are gone and I can't get them back

Hey everyone.
I've been using a new HD camera and i have had to change a billion settings on FCP. Now that I am no longer using HD it was time to go back to the way they were, but I must have done something wrong. My canvas and timeline are gone and I can't get them back. I tried going to window and just pulling them up but I can't click on the canvas and timeline buttons...
Please help!!! I am fairly new at final cut pro and I need help. I have a film festival deadline approaching and only hope that some kind person out there can help!!

Trash your FCP preferences. This will reset FCP to it's defaults.
Close Final Cut Pro and open a Finder window.
Click on your user name in the side bar.
Open the following sub folders Library, Preferences, Final Cut Pro User Data.
Place the following files in the Trash:
Final Cut Pro 6.0 Prefs, Final Cut Pro Obj Cache, Final Cut Pro Prof Cache.
Empty the Trash.
Open Final Cut Pro. You will be asked to choose your working format (Easy Setup) and designate your scatch disks.

All my windows live messenger contact have disappeared of windows messenger and appeared in my phone contact list on my curve 9360, Why, and how can I get them back where they should be?

I went onto windows live messenger today and all my contacts have disappeared from it, but I also noticed that they had somehow now appeared in my curve 9360 phone contacts. How did this happen, and how can I get them back into windows live messenger and out of my phone contacts on my phone? This is driving me crazy, can anybody help please?
My phone is the curve 9360, OS is 7.0.0 bundle 2259 And it was purchased Easter Monday

Thanks, but I checked iCloud and it has none of them.
If it backed up to my laptop, that died and I just got the new computer. The one that's crashed won't even boot, so there's no way to even tell if it was syncing the contacts along with all the phone photos. Literally happened at the same time - it was because I had the new computer that I was finally able to pull the photos off the phone and make room for the upgrade. It had refused to upgrade for lack of space for some time.
I had thought it was set to sync to iCloud but it vanished from BOTH my phone and the cloud. That's why I'm so angry about it.

When an iPhone updates, it wipes the whole device clean and then reinstalls the software and then the backup. Obviously you didn't create/couldn't create a backup either via iCloud or iTunes. You can get your apps back when you go to App Store>Updates>Purchased and download the apps you want.

Hi, apps are disappearing off my iPhone and I can't get them back. Spotify, Shazam, BBC iPlayer and the Maps app have just gone. I have tried to redownload them from the App Store but there isn't the option, cant get them back with iTunes either. Help!

I wish it was as simple as that. I have tried to redownload them but they are marked as installed.
I have even gone into iTunes and in the app tab untucked the disappeared apps, synced, then reticked the apps. This is where the strangest thing happens, the app appears on my iPhone, the progress bar goes from zero to the top, then, when the app should be installed, it disappears.
So far Spotify, BBC iPlayer, the Maps app, iFooty, and probably some apps I'm not aware of are affected.
Interestingly, the apps have also gone from my wife's iPhone which is on the same Apple I'd, but they haven't gone from my iPad which is also on the same Apple I'd.

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

I have the same problem for spreadsheets (via Numbers app). My spreadsheets were present and working as of last week. And these past few days all of them just disappeared!

Ana Candano, what is your Aperture version? Earlier Aperture versions - until Aperture 3.2.4 had colored icons, Aperture 3.3 and later are gray in gray. Do you have two versions of Aperture installed?
When you post back, list your version of MacOS X and the versions of any Aperture.app you can find with Spotlight on your Mac.

Albums are logical entries in the iPhoto database - you need to restore fromyour backup to get them back

I was watching Primus live just before (great concert btw) while doing some homework and keeping an eye on my e-mail, and so to maximise desktop space, I closed the ribbons (or whatever they're called) at the top of the Firefox screen - you know what I mean, the thing with "File -Edit - View - etc.", and the other one with "back" button and some other stuff that I can't remember right now. The problem is, I can't figure out how on Earth I get them back again; can anyone please help me?
