FCPX crashed! Then... LOST my LIBRARY / project I was working on!

So... I ingested footage... created a library... project... humming along... FCPX crashes.
Come back up... ALL THE WORK I'VE DONE (ingest / library / project) is missing.
Where can I find them.
Please help!

If you can remember the name you gave to the Library you could do a Spotlight search.
It should be in an obvious position on your hard drive if you double-click it to open it. It's distinctive icon should stand out quite clearly.

I did this and when I reopened it the project I had been working on had lost all of the photographs, music, transitions and titles. All that was left were the thirty-seven video clips and nothing else. Where has all my work gone and how can I retrieve it.

It should still be on your backup drive. Try reimporting it.

iMovie on your Mac has nothing to do with iCloud storage. Download and use Find Any File to search for your iMovie project. FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't, like invisible folders, packages and system folders. If there a file with your file name on it anywhere on the hard drive FAF will find it.
Do you have Time Machine enabled backing up to an external HD? This situation is exactly what TM is good at. It makes hourly backups so you can go back to find and restore the missing file. All HDs crash at some time or another and having a good backup strategy is the only protection against that.

How do I reopen a previous project I was working on in imovie? Please help

I had to work on two imovie projects. I began the first one and I was about half done. I had to start the second one so I created a "new project". I worked on the second one, but now I want to go back to the first one to finish editing. I go to "Finder" then the "movies" folder, then "imovie projects", then I pick my first movie project I was working on. Imovie doesn't open the first project, it just goes back to my second project, but I want to edit the first. So, how do I open a previous project I was working on in imovie?

Final Cut Pro X: Can't find project I was working on after closing the program

Recently, I was working on a video in Final Cut, and I had to close it to do something. When I re-opened it, the project I was working on was not there. I have tried looking for folders storing the project, and have found nothing. Any suggestions?

Are you sure you were working on a project, and not editing in one clip's own timeline? This is a pretty common mistake.

It may have been if you had autosave activated. I've never had that happen so I don't know where the file is put. I would expect Word would ask you if you wanted to retrieve a saved version when you next started it in those circumstances.

TS3843 Final Cut Pro X now crashes each time I try to open a project I was working on. Any suggestions for help?

I was working successfully on a video project using Final Cut Pro X today when it crashed suddenly and now it crashes each time I open the project. I have tried shutting down the computer and restarting, clearing the PRam (something I did long ago and just remembered). It won't fire up. Frustrating indeed since I need to finish this project asap. I have 10.6.8 OS X, a Mac Pro 1,1 , 5 gig of ram, 2x2.66 GHz dual core Intel Xeon . Hope someone can help me out to get the software operating again. I'm using an external 2T HD that holds the files there. Thanks!

I see that the FCP X event is on my external 2T HD but not in the folder with the video files. I highlighted the file in FCPX and got the info saying where it was located. I also see that the project is not on the 2THD but on the main tower HD in the FCP projects folder. Should I drag that project to the 2THD from the main tower computer? Put it where?
As for the media files linked to the events, I found a pull down menu that asked to link the events to the project and I did that but the project still crashes when I go to play it.
I guess I need a step by step refresher on how to begin a project and link everything properly so this doesn't happen again.

For those newly reading this thread.
1) The original problem reported was due to a malformed GIF from a buggy release of Corel Draw. An update to the image decoder within Muse was sensitive to this type of malformed GIF and crashes. We've fixed that for a future update of Muse. In the future this type of malformed GIF will be rejected by Muse. I removed the GIF from dsignsd's file using internal development tools and returned the repaired file.
2) The 3125 error is completely unrelated. A 3125 error can occur when launching after a crash due to the OS failing to have released the locks on the files that were open during the previous Muse session. When a 3125 occurs, relaunching a second time works, since the locks are cleared by then and the recovery data has been discarded. We're working on changes to workaround this variable behavior of the operation system to avoid 3125 errors in the future.
3) A 3125 error alone tells us nothing about the cause of the original crash. What's important it what error(s) was reported as part of the initial crash and/or what actions were being performed.
TheBlackGoldGroup Please send us the .muse file at [email protected] along with a link to this thread and a description of what needs to be copied from what page to what page to trigger the error/crash. If the file is larger than 20Mb you can use a service like Adobe SendNow, Dropbox, WeTransfer, etc. (If you use a service, please include your return e-mail address in the body of the message, since not all services include it in the sharing invite they send.) I Click on the Icon and it crashes. I have Vista 64bit. Was working for a year, now won't open.

FF won't open any more in my vista 64 bit desktop. I get this message when I click on the icon. "Firefox had a problem and crashed. We'll try to restore your tabs and windows when it restarts." I've clicked restore many times and get the same message. See troubleshooting box.

I dont fully understand your problem here,
1. Did your computer shut down or 'die' or did you save and then you cant find it?
2. Have you tried looking in spotlight (little magnifying glass up the corner)
3. Have you tried opening the program again? In word and pages, if the program exited forcefully, opening it again will restore the document.

I had to restart my computer and was asked to upgrade to 6.0.2. I now have no past history or old bookmarks. I needed the history and bookmarks for a project I was working on and now they are gone. I'm #?*! pissed. How do I get them back?

I restarted my computer. After it rebooted I was asked to update firefox I did and it updated to 3.0 or something and it said update complete but it is out of date would you like to update to 6.0.2. I did and it updated again. When I got back online, I had no history or old bookmarks. History and bookmarks are there in the toolbar but when I click on them there is nothing from past history and no past bookmarks. I need them back

I have all my Mail in One of my accounts (work)....but not all the Mail in the other account (aka my Music account).....
Both I've set up again..using your advice...and changed both now to IMAP..
Originally after refreshing my laptop, when I set up Thunderbird....I used the POP settings.....and that's when I messed it up.....
but using IMAP now....I've gotten more of my old emails .....in my INBOX.....not all.....but most....YIPPIE
My SENT emails....in my Music account.....have all disappeared.......I've looked in both sent folders...in POP...and IMAP....and nothing is there...
However my sent folder of my work account...I have SOME of the sent emails...
Address books....Collected and Personal folders.....I have NO Email Addresses at all.
Sooo now even though I am getting confident we will solve it.....I still have 4 accounts....aka...2 Work (POP and IMAP).....2 Music (POP and IMAP) until you tell me to delete or change one from each.....
BOTH IMAP accounts.....do not show new messages...when they come in....however the POP shows it.....I did read that If I deleted the POP to change to IMAP I will not be able to get emails.....sooo not sure what to do about that issue now....
Is there an "automatic" backup feature for Thunderbird...?? All this could have been soo prevented if I did that....sheesh...

I have been creating an Alernate layout (tablet) from my desktop version. Today when I open it the Tablet Plan is not there! Can anyone help me please. I am using windows 7. I have not had any problems like this before. Could it be a clitch or a muse error.

IMovie 10.0.4 froze my macbook and lost my current project

While editing some video in iMovie 10.0.4 on my MacBook Pro (OSX 10.9.3, 2.3GHz i5, 8GB RAM, 500GB SSD), iMovie "quit unexpectedly" several times (usually while I was trying to use the Ken Burns feature). And twice it completely froze/locked up my entire system. Eventually I had to reboot (both times it happened). The first time, everything was okay, and I was able to continue (although I was extremely annoyed). However, the second time I was forced to reboot, iMovie seems to have lost the project I was working on!!! No project anywhere to be found! All my original footage is still there, but no project. I am extremely upset and frustrated! I have used iMovie for my all video editing for more than four years, and the new iMovie 10 has been by far the worst experience I have ever had with any apple product! It is so unreliable and unstable. Someone please rescue me from this pit of despair!!

Just happened again today. I started over on my project. Got about an hour of work done, when iMovie suddenly froze my entire system. I waited a good 20 minutes to see if it would resolve itself, still was stuck. Then I tried every version of Force Quit I could find, nothing worked. Had to reboot again...........

Lost final cut projects and events

so i upgraded to yosemite great .. ......then i had to upgrade my final cut x from 10 to 10.1.3 as ithe old one didnt run on yosemite, no big deal, at the time i had one project i was working on in fcp all the others we managed by event manager x and in the respective hidden folders in my movie folder .
when i first opened fcp i opted to update the projects and events later however except for the current working project all the others are stuck in the final cut project - hidden folders and are greyed out i can not select them to update and to top it all event manager x no longer works in yosemite ? HELP
I have tried manually moving them to all kinds of locations but no luck

This is consistent with the upgrade to 10.1.3 from 10 -- the same issues would have surfaced in any OS that could run 10.1.3. In the earlier version of FCPX the Projects were not in the Events folder(s) but are in 10.1.x versions. Earlier projects if allowed to upgrade would have been in a separate folder, but with connections to them preserved.
I don't have time this morning to look up the discussions about this, but there are several to be found. It is an issue that would have better been confronted before the upgrade to Y. Search the discussions for possible help from earlier experiences.
