FCPX does not find disk

I have put a LaCie ssd disk to my MacBook and try to move a FCPX project to it. De disk is connected thorugh either a ThunderBolt or the USB3 connection but in both case FCPX fails to see the disk. The disk however is neatly shown on the desktop. Why does FCPX refuses to see this disk. I would rather expect it a nice way to separate the FCPX data from the startup disk. That is frustrated by FCPX. Is it a bug?

It turns out to be the second of the supposed causes. I had used the drive as a clone with CarbonCopyCloner and added the Final Cut Events+Projects folders at the disklevel. Disposing of the clone by repartitioning the drive as one volume makes it visible in FCPX and eligible for copying.

  • Is there a free java based forum that does NOT require disk write access ?

    Hello,
I've been trying to set up mvnForum (www.mvnForum.com) on my site but I've had to give it up as the way the server is set up I can only give write access to Tomcat if I give write access to everyone !
I don't need my forum to have disk access as it can just use the mySQL database the whole time. So is there a good java based forum out there that does not require disk access ? I'm hoping to find one that has e-mail authentication for people who register and things like that.
I know a php forum that will do it already but as the rest of the site is written in jsp it would be nice to be able to integrate it properly. Any help greatly appreciated.

Please try mvnForum beta3, it doesnot require disk write. Since RC1 mvnForum use disk access to write Lucene search index and attachment file.

  • I tunes does not find ipod nano 2nd gen

about a month ago i got a nano 2nd gen...installed itunes and downloaded songs to my nano. Now my computer doesnt recognise it and itunes does not find at all. I completed the 5 r s and still nothing. My nano has been charged several timesbefore but will not charge now. HELP

Until yesterday, I finally received a 4th Gen 20GB iPod (around 2 years old)from a friend and asked me whether I could fix it for him, which has been left untouched as a paper-weight for almost 2 months.
I tried to turn it on, and the screen was completed blank and the device looked dead. Before doing anything I prepared the following:-
    1. A window based PC
    2. A Mac computer
    3. An USB iPod cable
    4. A Firewire iPod cable
    5. An iPod AC charger
As the iPod was previously formatted on a PC, therefore I tried to plug it with a PC via USB cable, it did not response and not able to get recognized by the PC. I ejected the iPod and connected with an AC charger, after a few minutes, I did a Reset for the iPod
    How to reset iPod
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61705
The iPod showed an Apple sign, it stuck there for almost a minute, the screen then showed a battery with an exclamation mark sign, and after a minute, the iPod turned off itself. I was sure that the iPod carried very low battery, and could not be charged by connecting it with any computer (both Mac and PC).
I decided to let it have a charge with an AC charger for a bit longer, after 10 minute I did the Reset again, this time a sign of folder with exclamation mark showed up after the Apple sign, and again could not get recognized by a computer.
I changed my mind, and put the iPod into disk mode
    Putting iPod into disk mode
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651
Instead of connecting with a PC, I plug it with my Mac using a Firewire cable, it did not response, so I switched the cable to an USB, interestingly, the iPod got recognized and a window pop up indicating that the iPod needed to do a Restore. Therefore I clicked “Restore”, after a few seconds, an Error message pop-up with Error Message 1417, the sign that I have been waiting for quite sometime.
I ejected the iPod and the screen immediately showed a folder exclamation mark (a sign indicating a corrupted or a failure iPod OS). I am forced to put the iPod into disk mode again, connected with the Mac computer and open the Disk Utility
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
    5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
    6. Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”
It managed to complete the Restore process, and started to sync with the iTunes. However, it got stuck at the song no.238 from the total of 2000. I left it for an hour, but with no process, instead the iPod became “Hot” and the iTunes showed an Error message of 1428. I ejected the iPod from my Mac computer, the iPod’s screen turn to show the famous killer icon;“The Sad iPod“.
This time it was totally dead, even failed to put it into Disk Mode and non of the computer could recognize it. Sigh, I hated to do it but I knew that I must did the following:-
Holding the iPod in my Palm, and hitting it on a surface of a Sofa with 5 attempts.
Did not surprise me, the iPod turned on and it showed the Language Menu on the screen. So, I put it into Disk Mode and connected with my window PC.
The PC showed a sign and indicated that an USB device had been connected with it. I opened the iTunes and did a Restore there.
However, an Error Message 50 showed up, but I were not worried about it, connected it back with my Mac computer with it in Disk Mode. As expected the iTunes opened and allowed me to do a Restore there.
This time it managed to complete the process and a window of register pop up. After the completed the process, the iPod started to sync with the iTunes again, which finally managed to complete the process.
I left it connecting with the AC charger overnight. In the next morning, I switched it on and have a play with it, I am so glad as it is working like a charm.
From the above experience, I would like to share it with the user the following:-
    1. It always better to charge with an ac charger instead of the computer, as when an iPod carrying with very low battery, it may not able to get charge from a computer
    2. Try to connect the iPod with a computer, switching between USB and Firewire
    3. Try to format an iPod with HD problem, with a different kind of computer e.g. Mac or PC, as the formats are totally different, the way it formats may able to solve the bad sectors on the HD
    4. It may get better chance to get your iPod recognized, if you put it in Disk Mode
I hope the following works in your case as I did.

Depending on which email client software you use
the files should be in 'your home folder' library, esp.
if you use Mail application.... ~/Library/Mail
Since you don't specify what mail application,
that would most be associated with the file.
I notice there are some items to the right of your post
where it says "more like this' so that may be worth a
look to see if similar issues were answered. Also, the
Help viewer in your system is a searchable database.
Seems that google also brings up fair information, too.
Do you have a complete bootable clone of your entire
Mac system on an externally enclosed hard disk drive?
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Mac OS X does not find my internal HD.

    Greetings,
Today I opened my macbook pro at work, and something happened that I had to reboot it. When I rebooted it, I got what looks to be a dead end sign. I suspected that it had to be the HD. I then placed the Installation Disk in the optical drive to run Disk Utility. When I successfully ran DU, unfortunately, neither my BOOTCAMP HD nor my Mac OS X HD was shown.
I really need help on this. I am beginning to be desperate.

It wasn't a folder with a question mark it was stop-sign-like. I figured that it could be the HD, so I bought a new one. The problem is, when I try to install Snow Leopard, the installer does not recognize it. So I go to Disk Utility to see if there is a internal HD, and it does not find it, neither!
I bought a Samsung SATA 500GB internal HD, installed the hardware successfully, but the installer still does not show me an active internal HD.
I am really frustrated that even after a couple of days working on this, I couldn't find an answer.

  • AIO remote does not find my printer

I changed Internet providers a few months ago. I have not been able to print from my iPhone or iPad since then. AIO remote does not find my printer at all.

    Hi,
Both AirPrint and the HP AIO Remote app relies on Multicasting, a such have to be supported and enabled by your router.
Some routers support a such by default, some require settings changes and some do not support Multicasting which required for a such.
Please clarify your router brand and model to better understand any possible steps to try.

  • Iphone and ipad does not find the airprint printer

After I upgraded my iphone and ipad I lost my airprint function. Ipad and Iphone does not find the airprinter. The printer is a HP Photosmart 5520, and it does work wireless with my Windows PC that is on the same nettwork.

In our case the Airprint printers could not be found after IOS upgraded to 7.1.2, all was fine before then.  I have scoured the forums and many people have suffered the same problem.  All the solutions given are aimed at a domestic network with just a Wireless router.  They all involve restarting all the devices and rejoining the IOS devices to the wireless network.  Some people have had to do it multiple times before they regained use of the printers.
In my case none of these work because I am talking about a business network with two wireless access points, several switches and a router.  To prove it is the IPads I have installed Bonjour onto a Windows PC (Bonjour is the technology used by Airprint).  This finds the printers perfectly so it is definitely something that was changed in the version of Bonjour on the IOS 7.1.2 that is causing all the problems.
I was hoping that Apple would release another upgrade to IOS to fix this problem but it has been several weeks so far and nothing has emerged.
So something that worked perfectly a few weeks ago is now dead in the water because of an update on the IPads!!!!!!!!

  • Bluetooth on iPhone does not find my iPad

Bluetooth on my iPhone does not find iPad when both devices are next to each other.

    Envisions99
    I agree.
    still...my opinions on Apple.....
If you just try to put yourself in their position you will understand better.
Music Rights, security, every body wants something like this and like that- with all they have to consider and take care to get not sued- it is no wonder thta there are some restrictions.
And why ? because they are the only one to realy care an respond to questions and claims. Ever tried to get help from Sony and other Bigies ? Its like talking to a wall.Their support is just a not specific call center. Or did somebody read recently that Sony Erricson was called before the judge because their Cellphones are failing after third time repair (true story), their batteries are burning, their music devices dont let you transfer the music you bought(MiniDisc) and so on? Seldom right?!
If I read news about Apple, I just wonder how many legal challenges Apple has to face.
Looks like kind of sport in the US, to try to get money out of Apple.
`Oh, my laptop did not work last night so I could not read the email from my love.
I realy became so depressed and my heart aches therefore soooo much . I aske Apple to compensate
    for this with ähhh.... 1 million $ ?! `
    cheers,
    ;-)arry

  • My airport utility does not find my airport express device

My airport utility does not find my airport express device

In order for the AirPort Utility on your iOS device to find the Express, both need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. By default, the Express will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a network name of something like: Apple Network NNNNNN. Can you iOS device find this network?

  • My iPad 2 does not find my Big Blue Live speaker! What do I do?

My iPad 2 does not find my Big Blue Live speaker! What do I do?

Make sure you're using an original apple ipad charger and plugging into a wall outlet to charge, not computer.
Its possible that the charger is bad and may need replacing.
Its also possible that the battery has gone bad and it may need replacing.
Apple does offer battery replacement, you will have to send to them or take it to an apple store.

Before you do that though, I would recommend reading through these links first for some more information on how your battery works, needs to be charged and maintained.

Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
