FCPX: Loud pop at beginning of video, tried multiple export options, losing mind

I have a 5 minute movie montage that has a loud popping noise at the very beginning once I finish exporting. I have experienced this issue before and thought I had fixed it with this project, but now it's happening again, and I have no idea why or how to fix it.
Here's all the info:
Project Properties:
1280x720p
25 fps
Stereo 48 khz Apple ProRes
The music in the piece was ripped from CD using iTunes as an AIFF file, 1.5mpbs 48 khz 16 bit 2 channel PCM
NOW...Like I said, I was having issues with this and other projects previously, but I thought I had fixed it by making sure the audio bitrate for the project was the same as the bitrate for the exporting option I chose. Now, for some reason, I'm hearing the pop again. The Export settings I am using are:
Format: Video and Audio
Codec: H.264
Resolution: 1280x720
Audio file format: QuickTime Movie (AAC) (48khz)
I've also used the "Same as Source" option as well, which retained the Apple Pro Res for video and Linear PCM for audio. Didn't work.
I'm stuck. Any ideas?

Wrong forum - you need to post here:
https://discussions.apple.com/community/professional_applications/final_cut_pro_ x
but have you tried  -
leaving some frames of black/not sound at the head of your movie before you export it, so the audio is not commencing at the very first frame of the exported file,
and, if you have QuickTime Player 7 (QuickTime Pro) you can trim a few frames off the head of your exported movie to remove the noise.

    Thanks for the follow up.
From what you wrote, you have Premiere Elements 10. Is that on Windows 7 64 bit or other. For now I will assume Windows 7 64 bit. If version 10 is on Windows 7 or 8 64 bit it is a 64 bit application running in the 64 bit system which makes it possible for full use of the 64 bit resources. That is good news especially when you are trying to take a large project to completion.
You set up the project preset in the new project dialog to match the properties of your source media. That setting directs the program to establish the right space in the Edit Mode Monitor for editing purposes. That project preset also directs the program as to what disc menu set (s, w, or hd) will be available to you in the disc menu section. The project preset also has more subtle effects on the project settings.
What is you plan for exporting your Timeline, export to file saved to the computer hard drive or burn to disc DVD or Blu-ray? Keep in mind that the setting for the project preset do not prohibit variations in the export choice under most conditions. If you post a description of your source media and how you would like to export it, I will offer some very specific guidelines on that.
If you do go the purchased book route, please try for one which is specific to your version 10. There has been a marked change in interface starting with version 11. Often principles remain the same from version to version, but features do not. And, I always write "It is very frustrating to be armed with principles when you cannot find a feature."
I suggest that you start with the Premiere Elements 10 Help PDF and then decide what next.
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/PremiereElements/10.0/Using/index.html
    Also check out
    http://tv.adobe.com/show/learn-premiere-elements-10/
A lot of these links that say version 10, roll over to 11.
Steve Grisetti, the moderator of this forum, writes books on Premiere Elements if you are interested in the purchased book route.
Hope the information above is helpful. Above all do not hesitate to ask if you have questions on your Premiere Elements workflow or need clarification on anything written.
    Thanks.

  • I have made a 3:40 video in imovie and am trying to export it to youtube.  I have tried every export option and I always get the same message:  We are unable to export your video error code (-50).  I have 50g of space left on my hard drive.

I have Imovie 09 and am using Snow Leopard 10.6.8

I've tried everything, including exporting to Quicktime with the settings suggested by youtube...nothing seems to work and I keep getting the same message:  Unable to Prepare Project for Publishing.  The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred. (-50)
The original name of the project had parenthesis and I even renamed it so now its just simply "Going Nowhere"

  • Large file on fcpx and trying to export without compressor? want to eventually transfer to dvd?

I have a fairly large file on fcpx and trying to export it without compressor. I tried this and the .mov file was way too large to eventually burn to a dvd. Can someone please help!! I am very new to this program. Do I need compressor? Or when I share>export media is there a setting i can change?

Are you making an authored DVD or a DVD-ROM? If the former, the size of the file doesn't matter only the length of the video.

  • Loud pop, Mac Pro powers up, won't start up

So, here's what I found for anyone that can help... I have a Mac Pro tower, Quad Core Nehalem 2.66 processor. My wife said she heard a loud "pop" and found the computer off.  I tried powering up the tower, power came on, with a loud fan, and I could see a red light coming from the motherboard through the front (not normal?), but nothing comes up on screen.  Power button works fine to power up, and then I held it in to turn off.  Unplugged everything, then I removed the side panel, and the tray that has the processor and RAM. Now, as I lifted it out, a small stiff spring fell out of the housing, and I could hear something else rattling around inside.  Something obviously gave way, perhaps a capacitor?  Or is there a fuse assembly that may have given out?
Is there anything I can do, or am I relegated to bringing this in to Apple?

    That is rather extraordinary.
If you have an Apple store available, I suggest you make a Genius Bar appointment, take your Mac there and make the case that this sort of problem should NEVER happen, in or out of warranty. They will probably refuse, at first, to repair it free, but the manager may be able to intervene and get it repaired for you. This does not seem like abuse and should never have happened.
The next question will be, "do you have a backup of everything on your drive?" in case they have to send it out for repair.
If you choose instead to repair it yourself, There are long T-handle wrenches available to do that work.

  • Loud popping streaming music from MBP to airport express

Streaming iTunes – airport express (air tunes) – av amp
Macbook Pro (MBP leopard) (all software updates installed)
AirPort Express Base Station 802. 11n (firmware 7.3.2)
    Hi all
I am having a problem when playing music over air-tunes, (optical out) every so often, irrespective of file type and continuously throughout the music being played, I get a very loud popping/cracking noise outputted through the speakers,
This noise is severe enough to be causing damage to my speakers, so is making air-tunes unusable.
I also have a Macbook (leopard up to date) that dose not have this problem, which suggests that its not a problem with airport but with my MBP.
    Things I have already tried.
Direct optical connection from MBP to av-amp (music plays fine)
Reinstallation of OSX 10.5.5 (full install e.g. reformat)
    Reset of express base station
Rollback firmware of base station to 7.3
Set wireless security to none from wpa2
    Tried all possible radio modes
Problem persists over both wireless and wired (gigabit) network cards on MBP
All programs off during testing except iTunes
Tried switching off processes in network utility (have not spent a lot of time on this as not sure/confident as to which are critical system processes).
It seems to me as this is happening with both network cards that this is not a
network hardware problem on the MBP but maybe a background process on MBP is intermittently some how causing a spike of interference.
Also leopard is a resent upgrade, I can’t be sure but I don’t think this problem
happened when I had osx 10.4 installed, certainly when I first setup air-tunes
under 10.4 the problem was not there.
Am about all out of ideas, so I would be very grateful for any input on this.
    Kind Regards
    Drew…

    Anybody out there any ideas???
or perhaps someone hear can point me in the right direction to get some technical support.
    Regards,

  • G5 made a loud popping sound

I have a 4x2.5 GHz PowerPC G5 running OS X 10.5.8.  It just made a very loud pop when I touched the power button to startup. It popped & did nothing else. It's possible there was also a small spark.
I searched here & all the posts I found regarding this had dead machines. However, mine fired up when I tried it again (with a pencil eraser because I was afraid to touch it) & it appears to be working. I'm typing on it.
I looked inside and nothing appeared out of the ordinary.
Any ideas what's going on? Especially since it appears to be working ok?  I'm just afraid to touch it.  ;-)
Also I first posted over in "Older Hardware" can someone please remove that one? Thanks!

I've hit another snag. Apparently all G5s are not the same inside. in the fixit manual, it says, "Unscrew 8 T10 screws from the cooling unit" so the unit can be removed. The screws they are showing are not located where I can get at them.
Ashttp://www.xlr8yourmac.com/systems/G5_CoolantLeak_Repair/G5_CoolantLeak_Repair_p 1.html this person says, "Note that the ifixit steps call out eight T10 screws holding the CPU/LCS assembly in place. On my G5 these are 2.5mm Allen screws, so it required the tool shown in Figure 1."
Mine looks different as well.  In fact, the two top and bottom screws (that it appears I'm to remove, are under the condenser and I can't even get a screwdriver on them.  I think I've already taken out too many other screws.  All I want to do is be able to remove the cooling unit.
I took out four screws in the center of that side, but it appears that's only going to separate the condenser from the piece of metal under it.
    Ideas?

  • Loud popping sound and then nothing

Everything was working beautifully then suddenly I heard a loud popping sound and the screen went black and the computer was dead. I turned everything else off, waited about thirty seconds and tried to turn it on. When I press the on button it lights up but nothing else happens.
    Any thoughts?
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Hi, and a Warm Welcome to the Power Mac G5 Forum!
Well - a loud pop was the classic symptom of a blown Power Supply Unit.
Not sure which G5 you have... but if it's a "Late 2005" dual-core
    http://support.apple.com/specs/powermac/PowerMac_G5_Late2005.html
then it should be fixed under this

If you have an earlier G5, please post again. Good Luck.

  • My mac air keeps getting popped up websites and videos, what is happening? i thought macs don't get viruses i just got this laptop too

ok so i think there is a virus on my laptop bc it has been getting A LOT of pop up websites and videos ads. I just got the laptop literally a week ago and this never happen till today. I believe i downloaded the virus by accident thinking it was a java update bc since then my laptop hasn't been the same. Also, i would like to mention that "java video update" popped up while my cousin was trying to watch a movie on put locker. is there a virus? the websites always relate to mac products like for instance when i clicked on the question to type a new safari page popped up called "macmail" and they are mostly "clean your mac" websites. I trashed the downloads and then emptied my trash but I'm still getting the pop ups.

This is not caused by a virus. This is adware.

  • My laptop won't turn on after loud pop HELP!!

I'm in the process of moving so I connected my laptop somewhere new on Sunday. I connected the laptop to a surge protector then proceeded to connect the modem to the laptop. The problem happened when I connected the modem to an extension cord, it made a loud POP noise. When I went to turn on the computer, it wouldnt turn on. I tried then turning the laptop with it's battery but still nothing. My Best Buy warranty just happned to expire on me on August and it was too expensive to put it back on. My question is, is there hope for my laptop? it's only 2 years old, an HP Pavillion dv6000. I appreciate any help, I want to know what should I expect before going to Best Buy.
Also, when the battery is inside and it's connected, the light turns on like normal, only that the back gets hot. I appreciate ANY help.

Sounds like the onboard power supply is bad. That may requie the system board be replace.

  • HDX18 turns OFF by itself with Loud Pop

Just need to vent and express my dissatisfaction with HP as well as share my story with others who might be having similar issues.
I have seen a lot of issues on these boards regarding heating issues with peoples laptops, especially when gaming. I just had to write about my experience with HP and my HDX18.
I am not sure my core problem is a heating issue, though the laptop does get beyond reasonable heat levels.
My fan, ports and the area around it is clean. My laptop sits up and has ventilation underneath and completely around it . Still normal running temperature on this machine is around 130F with a 0-10% load. When I do anything on it the temperature shoots up and I have seen it get over 200F. Regardless of the temperature, the laptop shuts off with a loud popping sound intermittently. Mainly when I load up or during play of World of Warcraft. Any high graphics increases the heat considerably. But regardless of the current temperature it has shut off just loading the game. I think there is some issue with the graphics card but of course any contact with HP is like hitting your head against a brick wall. I even tried to get the information on who is a certified repair center for HP (without sending it directly to HP) and the rep couldnt help. Also on a side note I did have it in to HP repair under warranty in the first few months I owned it for an audio quicklink issue. The audio was popping and adjusting itself on my screen by itself. They fixed that issue by disabling the feature all together.
If anyone has had are is having similar issues I would like to hear what you have done to try to resolve or if you have resolved the issue.
I'm at the point of purchasing a new Dell and saying goodbye to HP forever.

Here's the solution.  Get your GPU reballed (not reflow).  Those solder connections and solder material is crappy.  It needs to be replaced with a material that can withstand the heat from the GPU without deforming.
I have a HDX18T-CTO1200.  I had that problem as well.  I played Starcraft II, Crysis 2, Bioshock 2, etc.. over a year ago and remember the computer would get hot.  About 2-3 months ago, I started experiencing the random shutdowns.  Got it reballed and received my comp about 1 week ago and no problems.

  • I am trying to export a video I have made in FCP 10.0.8 to Youtube or to a master file and I keep on getting an error -50, or "error exporting master file at frame 20074" Any ideas?

Having used FCExpress for a while I decided to give FC Pro X a trial, I created my first video with it, exported to youtube and it worked fine.  I am now trying to export my second video to youtube and I get an error -50 which means absolutely nothing.  Not being defeated that easy I tried exporting to a mster file using the H.264 codec and I get an error "exporting master file at frame 20074" - again another useless error.  It takes at least 10 minutes to get to this error after the rendering has started, it gets about 12% in.  Any ideas where to start - I am seriously at the point of giving up with Final Cut Pro X simply on the basis of it being more trouble than its worth - I am just glad I did not pay for it yet...
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Gerry

    Hi Russ,
Thanks for your response. I am not an experienced user of FC or other video editing software but if its that hit and miss I think I will go to the trouble of finding some better software - I have a busy enough life as is, I don;t want to get into second guessing what a software problem might be!
I have just successfully exported my video to a master file using one of the Apple codec options so it looks like it could be to do with the H.264 codec.  I am wondering if Apples Compressor software would solve this problem - the only way to try this it to buy it, there is not trial for the compressor app.  Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Gerry

  • I am trying to install a trail for InDesign CC to finish a project soon. I downloaded Creative Cloud, the app is in my folder, but it won't open and when I try to download InDesign an error pops up saying Adobe is trying to install malware.

I just installed Creative Cloud in order to download a trial for InDesign. I have the app icon for CC, but it won't open. When it was in my toolbar (on a mac) it just sat there loading for about 15 minutes. I tried restarting it but it won't open at all now. I also tried downloading an InDesign trail and it won't open at all. When I click for it to download an error message pops up saying Adobe is trying to instal malware and asks me if I want to continue. When I say yes, it doesn't do anything. I have a brochure that needs to go to the client by 4pm today! EEK!

Sydneybling it does sound like your security software is interfering with the process of installing and utilizing your Adobe Creative applications.  I would recommend that you try temporarily disabling your security software and utilizing the directions listed at Install and update apps - https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/install-apps.html to install InDesign CC.

  • Firefox crashes as soon as Flash video tries to load and Safari shows the error "Plug-in Failure"

I am unable to use Youtube or view Flash video on any sites.
Firefox crashes/quits as soon as a video tries to load and Safari shows the error "Plug-in Failure".
I have uninstalled Flash, downloaded a fresh version and installed, but no joy.
    I am using OS X 10.6.6.
    This is what I have tried so far;
    1. Repaired Permissions.
    2. Restarted with external drive and run Disk repair.
    3. Restarted with external drive and run DiskWarrior.
    4. Completely uninstalled Flash plugin. Robooted. Reinstalled Flash plugin. Rebooted.
    5. I even installed an earlier version of the plugin to see if there was some incompatibility with the latest version.
    6. Created a new user login and tried from there. Same problem.
    Any ideas?

You have what is necessary for Flash Player to be working. Firefox had some issues last year but it was after loading a video or the website. I had not heard of it lately and even last year don't recall it happening on the Macs.
What is happening with yours sounds like a direct conflict with some addon/extension.
Here is the link from Firefox describing what happened last year. You might want to see if there is anything more current.
