FCPX Text Animation Bug

Hi Everyone!
I'm working through a 30+ minute video sequence showing photos and video clips of an event I attended recently.  This is my first foray into FCP.
I've come across a rather weird text animation bug, where text is animated onto the screen incorrectly.
So what I've shown above is one typical text box I've added for narration, using the "Typewriter" effect.  Of course, the text should render (appear) on screen one character at a time, but I have been getting a random number of characters at the end of the block that do not animate.  The only way I have been able to get these blocks to animate correctly is to add enough spaces to the end of the text to force FCPX to rerender the block correctly.
At some point in the future, this bug resurfaces, and I have to delete the spaces, and re-add them, to get the block to render and animate correctly once again.
If I go and "share" the resulting sequence, the bug is rendered into the sequence.
Deleting the text block, and adding a new block, doesn't seem to help.
I have reported this as a bug to Apple.
It's not just the Typewriter text effect doing this.  As far as I can see, it is every text effect bar the lower thirds (so far as I can see).
Any ideas on how to get around this?  Does anyone else experience this bug?

I'm starting to pull my hair out on this one.  My video is essentially ready for final rendering, but I've hit a snag re the rendering itself.
Check out this image I've just snapped:
http://www.becsta.com/pics/skitch/FCPvCompressor-20110918-225758.jpg
On the left is the Compressor 4 preview pane.  Note that the text animations are screwed up, just like the screenshot at the start of this discussion.
On the right is the FCPX preview pane, showing that the rendering is complete and correct. All I did was select "Send to Compressor", and skipped the Compressor timeline up to review the same frame.
These text blocks are using the "Typewriter" effect.
So, what do I do to fix this once and for all?
Build it from scratch in Motion?
Any ideas?

  • Green artifacts showing up on standard FCPX text animations

Is anyone else experiance green artifacts showing up with their animations? Have you got them to go away? If so, how?
Here is what I'm talking about.
    15in MBP(mid-2012) non-retina
    OS X 10.8.4
    2.6 Ghz i7
    8 GB Ram
1 GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M
    FCPX 10.0.8

Have you tried trashing the preferences?
Many weird things happen as a result of corrupt preferences which can create a vast range of different symptoms, so whenever FCP X stops working properly in any way, trashing the preferences should be the first thing you do using this free app.
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/
Shut down FCP X, open PreferenceManager and in the window that appears:-
    1. Ensure that only  FCP X  is selected.
    2. Click Trash
The job is done instantly and you can re-open FCP X.

  • Text animation not working in Captivate 5

Hi there -- I am seeing some strange results and need some help troubleshooting.
I have one project and on the first slide I have an image, a text animation, and video.  I view it and everything plays perfectly.  Here is what the timeline and properties looks like:
I removed the video and resaved the project under a different name.
But when I preview the movie, it does not play the text animation.  When I play it from the timeline I do see the text and the animation.  But when I preview the project and publish and view the movie the text animation is not included.
This is are the settings in the second project (which match the first b/c I simply saved the project as a different name).
I added another text animation to the second project and that also did not play in preview or after publishing.  But the first project works fine.
Any ideas on why text animation would be playing in one project but not another project?
    Thanks!

Text Animation works in one and not in the other.  It doesn't matter the order in which it is located on the slide.
I have been doing more tests and just ran into an interesting bug.
    I recreated the original steps:
    1) Take the working .cptx (which has graphics, text animation,  and video)
    2) Resave under a new name
    3) Remove the video
Everything seemed to be working fine.  When I previewed, the text animation works.
Then I published using two different settings:
Version 1:  Externalize Skin, AutoPlay, No Preload
Version 2:  Nothing External, AutoPlay, Preload
Weird thing is with version 1, the skin is externalized as a separate swf, and it does not play the title text animation.
But version 2, when nothing is set to be external it plays fine.
They are both being published from the same exact .cptx only difference is how I published.

  • Text Animation Boxes--Help!

Using Captivate 1.01.1418. When I publish to a swf, I have
text entry animations... they appear doubled up--one right below
the other. It's like a band that goes all the way across the screen
at the point where the text is entered (if that makes sense). My IE
version is 6.0.29, if that matters.... Any ideas??? Thanks.

    Hi again
First, you may download a special Text Animation from the
Captivate Exchange. This was created by fellow Adobe Community
Expert Paul Dewhurst. You may visit the Captivate Exchange by

  • How to remove a virus that is reported to be in the text animation files of Captivate 8

The virus protection program ClamAV is reporting a virus Swf.Exploit.CVE_2014_0564-2 exploit. in several of the Captivate program files that are located in the programs/Adobe folder (some of the text animations swf files, interaction files, and widget files- there are several text animation files that are not infected). How can I remove this virus. I found out in other forums that many other people experience the same issue. But I could not find a resolution yet.

Here is an update on this issue. Maybe it will help someone else. After many months of working with Adobe support, they finally helped me to remove all viruses from my computer. This included Adobe Captivate cleaning up their Captivate 8 code and removing the Swf.Exploit.CVE_2014_0564-2 virus from their Captivate program files. As my research showed, the danger with this virus is that it seems to be dormant until a visit to a website that activates it and then it can destroy all your data (that terrified me when I read that and I made sure I had lots of backups in the Cloud). I got lucky and it did not get activated.
As it turns out, it's not only the text animation files but also the widget animation files. Following is the final correspondence with Adobe. I hope the links work too.
These are the fixed program files that Adobe uploaded for me to access https://www.dropbox.com/sh/cyelu2yvkc0f521/AADRYR3X0n3nM7lmIUNMQokWa?dl=0. However, do not use the "text animations folder", there was a little bug left and they sent me a replacement for the text animations here https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ymen27rrba75mc2/AABwsQjCmxdQHvkSx5Kjybo_a?dl=0
These are the steps they had me take and it worked for me.
Download and extract the SWF Animations from the TextAnimations folder
Take a back-up of the old animations which are located at “<Captivate Installation Dir>\Gallery\TextAnimations\” and “<Captivate Installation Dir>\Gallery\Widgets\”
Replace the existing animations with the new ones in the same folder
Open your Captivate project and delete all the old animations which were inserted, and then close Captivate.
Even though the animations have been deleted, Captivate still holds them as internal resources. Hence, the following tool must be run :
Download and extract the files in the CCFix folder(Win 32-bit or Win 64-bit)
Place AdobeCaptivateFix.exe, CleanResources.bat and CPProjectsNSlides.dll in the Installation folder of Captivate 8.1
    Run CleanResources.bat
Captivate opens in a special mode, where you get a file browser.
Choose the files to be fixed and proceed. The fixed cptx files will be placed in the same location as the original. A “_fixed” suffix is added to the new cptx.
Captivate automatically exits after this.Your file is now fixed.
Now open the fixed project and replace all the deleted text animations with the new ones.
I scanned my computer with ClamWin again and it still found the virus. This time it was in the Captivate Cache. Maybe it was from fixing the old files. I deleted all Captivate Cache files and I no longer got a positive Swf.Exploit.CVE_2014_0564-2 found report from ClamWin. YIPPPIEEEEE!
It took almost 200 hours of effort to repair infected files. What I don't understand is how Adobe can have a virus in their Captivate program files and then make us fix the infected files manually. I have asked them to write a program to fix infected files (how hard can that be to automate the steps they gave me?). I never got a response.  That seems really sad.

  • After installing Cap 5 patch 5.0.2.630 can not insert a text animation

I installed the 5.0 patch yesterday and today I cannot insert a text animation in my project. I have tried both Insert > Text Animation and Shift+Ctrl+X and nothing happens in either case. I seem to be able to insert everything else (at least the appropriate dialog boxes display). I was apprehensive about an upgrade during a project but did it because I hoped it would resolve some of the audio issues I am seeing.
I do have a couple of text animations that were working fine since I started the project several months ago, now they work but in a halting sort of way. I thought maybe they had become corrupted and was going to delete and re-insert them but Captivate won't let me now that I have patched it.
I have seen a number of people indicate that they gave up on text animations because they are pretty unpredictable for the end user of the published project - anyone feel otherwise?

Following up regarding my bug report, in case this info is useful to others..
Adobe contacted me via phone and, after we spent a considerable amount of time troubleshooting, the rep determined that my project was corrupted. Since the problems began after the patch was applied, it seemed reasonable to think that it somehow precipitated the issues, but the rep did not feel that was an accurate conclusion. I was concerned that I had now lost a lot of work because, even when I opened older backed up versions of the project, I encountered the same issues. The rep explained that there would not be a lot of rework because I could, in small batches, copy slides from the corrupted project to a new project (except for the Quiz review slide, which I needed to allow Captivate to create automatically in the new project). I was glad to hear this but unfortunately discovered (and the rep did not seem to expect) that not all of the project features copied. Most significantly, Master pages,  Advanced Actions, and object names did not copy over. Those all had to be recreated and reconfigured on the appropriate slides. So there was quite a lot of rework after all.
Once the substantial rework was completed, I was still having numerous problems working in and running the published project (65 slides total, 3 FLVs). After digging through the forums some more, I decided to break up the project and try the Aggregator, which was a failure. The project would not run. Then I turned to the post about daisy-chaining (#3445696) and I have been able to get things working. I definitely wished I had tried the multi-project route much sooner, but hadn't seen any indication that 65 slides with 3 FLVs was too big of a project.
Regarding the daisy-chaining: I was unable to get the projects to work by following the instructions to (1) use separate published project folders (2) use relative links to call the next project (3) ensure the folder was a trusted location in my Flash settings. Following these guidelines, the project did work when running on my C drive, but when I copied it to our network, it always threw up an error that it couldn't find the daisy-chained projects. I got it to work by scrapping the use of daisy chaining through the Publish End setting, putting all files in one folder, using a button on the last slide of each project to call the next project, and for the button action, using only the file name (not the relative path) of the project to launch.
I hope some of this info can help someone else avoid frustration.

  • Why can't I get my jpgs and text animation to display properly

Using the timeline, I specified the times that the 4 jpgs are to appear. I also added text animation. When I preview the individual slide, all works well. When I preview several slides in the browser, or publish as a swf, some of my jpgs fail to appear at all, or look washed out, and many of my text animations fail to appear fully. Can anyone help me with this?
    Thanks,
    Bert

    Hi Bert
Are any of the following objects on the slide?
    Button
    Click Box
    Text Entry Box
If so, these objects automatically pause the slide until they have been dealt with. You need to check the pause point.

  • Mouseover/Mouseout Animation bug when mouse moved quickly/fast over it.

Hi everyone, this is the first time I create a thread on adobe forum ^^
In edge animate I made a pretty simple animation :
    - I made a square
    - I made a movieclip with an animation of about 200ms (opacity) that show some text appart from the square.
Then I used mouseover/mouseout on the square to play & playReverse the animation of the text like that :
    Mouseover :
    sym.getSymbol("textclip").play();
    Mouseout :
    sym.getSymbol("textclip").playReverse();
So everything works fine when I move the mouse on & off the square.
I made this 6 times, so I have 6 differents square & 6 differents text animation.
But when I quickly move the mouse from one to another, some animation just bug but in a strange way :
the text is always shown and when I move the mouse to the associate cube that is normally playing the animation the text simply dissapear, and show back when I leave the cube with my mouse.
I tried to use mouseenter mouseleave but I'm not really sure what to use and how to do that.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi, Achyp-
Welcome to the forums!  As you mentioned, you should use mouseenter and mouseleave instead of mouseover and mouseout.  Here's what you would do:
Delete your mouseover and mouseout events
Add the mouseenter event and stick your code from mouseover into it
Add the mouseleave event and stick your code from mouseout into it
Hope that helps point you in the right direction!
    Thanks,
    -Elaine

  • Slidelet affecting Text Animation

The opening slide of my project has a title that is Text animation.  Menu options below this are buttons that link to various slides.  On each button is a Rollover Slidelet that displays further information on the particular menu choice.  My issue is that the slidete is affecting the Text Animation.  Briskly moving the mouse over the Slidelet hotspot causes the Text Animation to replay itslef and even jut play half, so only half the text is visible.  Heres my setup:
    Slide = 8 seconds long
Text Animation = Appear after 0 sec, Display for rest of slide.  No Loop
Button = On success continue, Display for 8 sec, Pause after 7.4 sec
Rollover Slidelet Hot Spot = User clicks inside Slidelet Negative, User hover over Slidelet, NO Action
Rollover Slidelet Hot Spot = Display for 3, appear after 5
Rollover Slidelet = Display for 3 seconds
I have tried all options and set up several new projects just to see if my project was corrupt, without finding a way for the Slidelet NOT to affect the Text Animation?
    Any Ideas?

As no one has replied to me I’m guessing it's something I’m doing wrong?
Can some good soul try this and see if they get the same effect?
    CP4
    1 slide 8 sec long
Add text animation to appear after 0 sec, Display for rest of slide.  No Loop
Add button on success continue, Display for 8 sec, Pause after 7.4 sec
Add Rollover Slidelet hot spot over button, Slidelet area underneath
Add within the slidelet a standard text box with some text that lasts for 20 seconds
Basically when the user hovers over the button, explanation of 'what the button is for' appears in the slidelet and vanishes after 20 seconds OR the mouse cursor is moved off the button.
    Affect
Moving the mouse on and off the button will affect the text animation
If others are finding the text animation is being interfered with by the motion of the mouse over the button, I can just put it down to a Bug in CP4 with no fix and move on!  If others don’t find the issue, it’s me and my settings somewhere!
    All help appreciated

  • Text animation not working

'm having some issues with some text animation. I'm trying to animate certain text boxes of a slide and not others...it all seems to work when I preview it, but when it comes to actually playing the slide, the animation does not appear. I've tried using the Magic Slide (not sure if that's quite the name) but that doesn't give me the animation options I'm looking for. Any ideas?

    Inspector???
    Yes
Inspector > Animate > Add an Effect > Magic Move (inspector is the side panel on right)

  • Premiere elements 7 error while playing text animation

I installed premiere elements 7 on my 64 bit windows 7 os. Everything has worked fine so far except when I play a clip that involves text animation. It starts to play then freezes. A box pops up and says "Adobe Premiere Elements.exe has stopped working" Windows tries to detect the problems and it says, "A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly windows will close the program and notify you if a solution."
The is a brand new computer and meets all of the requirements. I have it installed on my laptop using Vista with no problem.
    thanks

Windows 7 64-bit seems to be causing a lot of problems for Premiere Elements users. This is not a problem with the program or the operating system. It's most likely related to the OS's 64-bit drivers, which are not yet fully compatible with 32-bit programs.
Have you gone to Windows Updates and ensured you have even the non-critical updates (particularly the hardware drivers)?
If it is a Dell, have you gone to the Dell site, looked up your model and ensured you have all of the Dell updates?
Do you have the latest version of Quicktime?
These are not guaranteed to fix your problem. You are, after all, using a brand-new 64-bit operating system that has not yet fully evolved. But they'll certainly increase the odds in your favor.

  • Text Animation Presets do not load.

Text animation presets do not load in After Effects CC (or Adobe Bridge when browsing presets). They don't show up in Effects & Presets panel. I believe they used to show up but no longer. They are in the presets folder so I'm not sure why they won't load in either program.
    Any help appreciated.
    James

They show up for me and everybody I know except you. Without knowing something about your system, about whether this is new behavior, and without knowing what if anything has changed on your system I have no idea how to help you.

  • Does Bridge CC have more text animation presets then Bridge CS6?

so I upgrade from CS6 to CC and did not install Bridge CC. Then while in After Effects CC I try to view the text animation presets, but window informs me I do not have Bridge CC installed. I then download and install Bridge CC and view the animation presets, but seem all the same as Bridge CS6 has.
My question is - Does Bridge CC have more text animation presets then Bridge CS6.
Is there another procedure to acquire more? Did I click past something on my first launch of Bridge CC?

My question is - Does Bridge CC have more text animation presets then Bridge CS6.
Best try this in the After Effect forum, to my knowledge not many AE users are here at a regular base. Besides that, every suite version has its dedicated applications to work together in that suite, CC is no exception to that so for best practice use Bridge CC.

  • Help with drop-in text animation

    Hi Folks,
I'm trying to create a specific text animation, but I'm having a little difficulty.  I'd like to have the text drop in in a random order into its final spot.  I can get close using the text drop-in animation, but I'd really like the 'source' of the text dropping in to be from a single point.  Picture a watering can pouring the letters out and they randomly fall into their correct spot in a phrase. The default look of the drop-in animation is that each character drops from its corresponding spot in the phrase. I've played with changing the tracking, using the 'before' setting and managed to squeeze the space that the text is dropping from, but that causes the letter to appear to move after they've already landed.  You can see a rough draft here:  http://www.c2-it.com/clients/a/textdrop.mov
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get closer to what I'm looking for?
    Thanks,
    CJ

Todd, thanks for the reference to the tutorials.  They helped me understand a little more how the animators work.
Mylenium, I'm still a little confused on your approach.  I've got the base text layer and added an animator for opacity.  I set it for random and that works fine, the letters randomly appear and complete the phrase.  For the 'pouring in' part, I added a second text layer and animated the position property, but the text still originates from its original place in the phrase.  I can't get it to originate from a single point.  Also, I'm not even sure I understood about using multiple selectors for the 1st layer.  Just using the animator for opacity with a random setting seems to provide the correct 'ending' of the animation.
    Thanks Again,
    CJ

  • Captivate 5 - Text Animation Does not Play on Slide 1 Only

I am using Captivate 5, updated to 5.0.1, with Windows XP, SP 3. Publishing as Export to HTML.
The problem I am ecperienced just started in the last few days, sometime after 3/18/2011. I think this issue is different from similar problems reported in January, which seemed to impact all text animations.
The problem is that text animations on slide 1 work OK in slide preview mode, but do not display at all in project preview mode or when published.
Text animations work on all other slides. If I put a .blank slide in the project, so the failing slide 1 becomes slide 2, then the text animation plays OK, but I do not like such a workaround.
In deliverables generated on 3/18, the text animations work on slide 1. If I regerate the same projects, the slide 1 animations no longer work.
Has something been changed with Captivate 5 or Flash that is causing this problem? Any suggestions?

I don't think you are missing anything. I am using the "Light_PAssage" animantion, but switching to the one you used has no impact.
For me, if there is a text animation on slide one, it will play in File->Preview->Play Slide. It will not play in FIle->Preview->Project, From this slide, or Next 5 slides.
The issue occurs in all my Captivate 5 projects, including projects that previously generated properly working outputs as recently as 2/23/2011.
Is it possible it's related to Flash player? I am using Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX 10.2.152.26.
I will send an example cptx to your email address. The example includes a blank slide one, and the text on slide 2 plays as expected in the previews and in the generated output. If I remove the blank slide 1, the text animation on the new slide 1 no longer plays.
    Thanks.
