Notes from Apple’s Pro briefing on Final Cut Pro X in London
Looks like Apple’s softly softly actions to keep professionals onside are continuing.
Sam Johnson(of AMV LAB) was invited, amongst others, to an Apple briefing on Final Cut Pro X.

If you are making your living with DVD recorder it's because you already have one. If you need a brand new one, you can buy it from any DVD recorder manufacturer. (Actually, Apple never manufactured DVD recorders).
The only one Apple computer doesn't have DVD recorder today is the Macbook Air. So, there is no reason to speculate about that, but yes, sooner o later DVD will dead, as cassette did, as floppy did, as VHS did.
I make my living on editing. FCPX doesn't changed anything for me. I still work with FCP7 as I did before. I know how to edit in Avid and in Premiere, and now in FPCX.
I am training myself all of the time. That's my biggest investment, to always be learning as much as I can. Instead of waisting hours and hours blaming Apple, I started to learn FPCX with Ripple Training first, and now with Larry Jordan's tutorials.

Anytime I open Firefox I get the following message: It is strongly recommended that you apply this update as soon as possible. When I try to do it, it is showing that it is trying to connect to the update server but nothing is happening
If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

* Uninstall your current Firefox version.
* Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

Cannot see Cookies with new update of firefox.<br />
I recently updated firefox, but when I look on the PRIVACY window, where<br />

I currently own a 17" MacBook Pro (2009), a Mac Pro G5, a 27" iMac (this year), an iPhone 4, and two iPods.
I edit video and produce music with Final Cut Pro 7 and Logic 9 (among other things). I have invested heavily in Apple products, and I'm preparing to invest even more this coming year in order to prepare for some upcoming film projects I will be editing and scoring.
I am patiently waiting to learn whether or not the Mac Pro will be updated soon, or will it be killed altogether.
I am not at all impressed with Apple's recent actions, to wit: Reducing Final Cut Pro to a higher version of iMovie; killing the 17" MacBook Pro; and releasing a watered down and dysfunctinoal version of Maps for the iPhone and iPad, to name a few.
I have planned on obtaining a new iPhone 5 and the iPad (64GB) this year, as well as a 12-core Mac Pro (or equivalent depending on whatever new models may be released).
However, if Apple kills off the Mac Pro, or renders it a useless pile of techno-junk in order to serve the large mass-consumer market, I WILL walk away from Apple in its entirety. This includes puchasing a different phone, tablet, and workstation this year. For now, I will keep my old iPhone 4 on month-to-month with Verizon until these decisions shake out.
Apple needs to realize that its decisions often impact other portions of their product line when they alienate and frustrate their professional users - who are not dependent upon Apple's workflows or UIs to get their work done. I am equally efficient and confident on either platform, but I use Apple out of preference.
As much as I hate MicroTrash Winblows, I will not allow my production efforts (and investments) to be left to the whims of Apple's executive managment and most-likely ill-informed and dysfunctional stockholders.
At anywhere between $5,000 and $14,000 for a Mac Pro, this is not a small investment, and before I make said investment, I need to know that the vendor is going to continue to support the product both now and in the years to come.
Any insight anyone could provide regarding Apple's proposed strategies surrounding the Mac Pro would be greatly appreciated.

2013 could be a sleeper year too if Intel decides to skip Xeon Ivy Bridge and so close to the next tick-toc - Intel developer conference pretty much sets the stage for the next year which IDC is in October - where we heard about Penryn that went into 2008s, Nehalem's went into 2009.
Buy refurbished 2010 $1819 and throw in $1000 W3690 and 3x16GB - core speed and single socket and max out RAM and load up on PCIE SSD as well.

I was able to download / update Motion 5.2 and Compressor 4.2 but I do not see the FCPX 10.2 update.
When opening "Purchases" I do not see any of the programs, neither Motion nor Compressor nor FCPX.
What's wrong here?I've restarted already. It didn't help.
Another funny thing.... I have a second Mac with the >same< Apple iD on which I was able to update FCPX and Compressor but not Motion.
It also shows that "Family Sharing is not set up with the current iCloud account"... which is not true and furthermore the settings are completely the same on both machines...
Don't know what to do... :-( -
FCPx Update to 10.1 deleted all my projects
After updating to FCPx 10.1 it asked if I wanted to save the old projects and events. I a=said no - so it deleted all my projects.
does anyone know how I can get them back?
Previously if you didn't say to update projects you wouldn't see thm in FCPx.
helpCalled FCPx Tech Support and they gave me a one time exemption, since it happened on an update.
The projects were not gone, although there were no old projects in the trash, like the info window said they would be. The old projects were just deleted.
The new FCPx 10.1 puts Events Libraries and Project Libraries together in one Library.
Since all my Projects were on my HD1, and most of the Events for those projects were on 3 other HDs, all my Projects were grouped with all my Events from HD1. They were in a folder called Updated Projects, but that folder also contained 364 clips from HD1, which made it hard to find the Projects.
So they were there all along, just didn't know how to find them or where to look.
There is no Project Library any more, if I understand it correctly. Projects and Events are in the same Library.
I will say this, the video quality after Update 10.1 increased 30 to 40% - stunning.

How to negotiate FCPX Update error?

Have purchased FCPX version 10.0.2 in Decemebr 2011 and did not update to the newer versions until yesterday. I clicked on update to version 10.0.5 and went to sleep. When I woke up in the night, I checked to see whether the update was completed, I saw this: an error has occured. I tried to click on update again but found the button not responding. Now what do I have to do?

I have had my apple tv 2 for about 3 months which work perfectly fine when I use it with my iPad 3 ー all of the sudden I get the HDCP Error! I read the forms and done everything! Apple I name a loyal customer, please come out with an update soon!
That's one of the weird things.. it recognizes it maybe 10% of the time. And usually, only after I do the two-button reset. Problem is.. since it won't charge above 2%, anytime I try to do a restore or anything like that using iTunes, my device shuts off and I lose whatever progress I'd made.
So, an update... after reading through a bunch of similar complaints (there are literally 1000's of them so there's NO WAY this isn't somehow ios7 related, thanks a lot APPLE ) I decided to try a restore in recovery mode. After 3 hours and several disconnections... I ended up having to just set it up as a new iPad, as the restore did nothing. Weirdly though... as I was doing the restore in recovery mode.. I noticed I'd gotten up to a 10% charge.. higher than it's been since September, so after setting it up as a new device, I turned it off and plugged it in using the wall charger. 2 hours later and I was up to 38%. Still not great, as my iPad, before ios7 could've fully charged twice in the amount of time it took for me to now get 28% more of a charge. And that's with a fully cleaned out device.. so that really ***** and I'm now more confused than ever.
But I'm gonna leave it overnight charging and see what I come up with tomorrow. Sadly, when I paid $600 for it in February, I never expected to have to play "wait and see" with it... -

Were the app in your iTunes library? If not the app data in the backup has no place to go. Redownload the apps in your iTunes libaray

and then restore from backup.

Otherwise, try restoring from backup again.
If still problem that means the backup does not include the data. -
Using Adobe Photoshop CS2 version 9 and have updated it, but when stacking photos, it comes up with PSD, whereas I want Jpeg, and I change the format to Jpeg and the box then comes up with cannot save as there is a program error. Be very grateful for help with this, please.

Software update, nothing but headaches.....
About two weeks ago, I woke up to a message on my phone that said a software update had been downloaded and the phone needed to restart to install. I wish I'd known then what a headache this was going to cause me.
A few days later I noticed that my phone wasn't ringing, my notification sounds weren't playing, and my alarm was going off on the screen but no sound. I always use my phone as my alarm clock, but can't trust it now. I turned my phone off and back on and the problem resolved. It has done it 5 or 6 more times since then. I'm on call for my job every three weeks, and I couldn't trust that my phone was going to ring this past week. Very frustrating.
I've also had an increase in problems making calls and typing text messages. When I try to make a call it acts like it is connecting but I don't hear the phone ring or anything. My husband said it is connecting, and he can hear me, but I can't hear anything. When typing text messages, it will freeze up and I have to exit the message and go back in before it will let me type.
I'm loathe to do a factory reset because of the amount of time it takes to get the phone back to the way I like it. Is this going to be my only option? When I first got my Droid 2, it was replaced twice in the first three months because I had nothing but problems. The 2nd time was a refurbished Droid 2 Global and it has been an OK phone. I've spent so much time dealing with technical issues though that I'm about ready to send Verizon a bill for my time.
I'm not able to upgrade until August, but I can assure you I will never buy another Motorola phone.

Try follow these steps and if this doesnt help then I would say its time to try a hared reset because issues do have a habit of showing its evil head after a update because of the update process changes and updates files but doesnt delete any personal settings and the old settings sometimes cause issues..
Try booting in Safe Mode and then consider a Hard Rest.
Enable Safe Mode
Press and hold the Power button.
Select Power off.
Slide the keyboard open.
Press the Power button.
Press and hold the OK key.
Continue to hold the OK key until Safe mode appears in the lower-left of the unlock screen.
This may take up to 30 seconds.
While in Safe Mode, remove the most recently installed applications.
Power cycle the device then attempt to use the device.
If the device works properly, install applications one at a time to identify the application causing the problem. -
I have an iPad mini, 16G, WiFi only. My operating system is iOS 7.0.3. My problem is that my App Store has stopped updating apps. And it's not like the update starts, but never finishes. It doesn't start at all. I touch the "Update" button, and the app opens instead of updating. I have 9 updates now, and none of them work. And the rest of the App Store is working fine. I have no problems searching for apps or downloading new apps. It's just the updates that don't work. I had thought that maybe I needed to update my software and then it would start working, but I can't. The available software update requires 5.9G of storage, and I only have 1.6G. I also thought that maybe there was not enough forage to update the apps, but if that was the case, then it would tell me that there is not enough storage instead of opening the app. Does anyone know how to fix this? I really need to update my apps!

It sounds like you are unable to update your apps in the App store because they launch, rather than update. I would recommend starting by signing out of your Apple ID in Settings:
iTunes: Using the iTunes Store for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Create New Apple ID on your device.
Then quit all the running apps on your phone:
iOS: Force an app to close
Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

i have the version of itunes the ios 7 update requires but every time i try to update my phone it says i need the itunes version 11.0.5 but i already have it?
You need iTunes 11.1 which is not available for download in google chrome or other browsers. The only browser it has worked for with me is Safari. Hope this helps!

(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
